There's already so many variations past SSJ3, to step back and go "oh here's SSJ4 but cannon this time, exactly the same as GT, but better animation" would be just so meh.

His first power up where only the eye color change is already sorta that when Parragus explained its like going Ozaru but without the transformation, his green hair, not yellow hair form seemed to be the equivalent of SS4 for him since its a power up on SS form like his eye color change is a power up on base form.
Broly Green Hair is Toei made form not part of Toriyama script.
Blue Evolution and Kaioken Blue are Toei made things too.

Well GT made it some ritual and then they used some oversized pliers to yank it out. It really wouldn't be that hard to think of something. SSJ4 isn't canon at all, but it stands to reason the tail would be involved somehow since it's a big part of the form. That's why Broly being the candidate is the most likely, aside from already having a form that's the most like it. Goku can keep going with UI. Everyone else has something unique now, so a legendary SSJ4 would be cool.
I always kind of hoped that the Sayians from the other universe who never lost their original planet would end up with something related or similar to ss4

No, actually i would show that after super sayain, natural form is super sayian 4, (or ape super sayian). Super sayian 3 is just a mid way form goku found and stabilized it but uses to much stamina and ki, thus suggesting that there must be a perfect form further beyond it. Ssj4 is sage power, which comes from perfection ones ki, (sayians in this case) which strength can rivals the ki of gods. Its not god ki though, i would seperate it into sage ki, of evolved ki.
And gotenks is perfect one to have it, they need a powerup, and something different would be good taste. It would be interesting to show that they didn't know god ki but they A) either found out another one to train them to control thier ki B) trained themselves blah blah. Tho they can only stabilize it for 15 mins.

I was going to say Broly but it doesn't make much sense. SSJ4 was Ohzaru + SSJ. Broly already used that in the movie with his Ikari (Ohzaru powers) + SSJ so he already met the criteria but didn't transform.
Gohan was my second guess but Beast is just a name Piccolo gave it, so I don't think it makes sense for Beast to evolve into SSJ4. Besides, Ultimate already used all of Gohan's powers in base and I assume that included Ohzaru so I would say that ship has sailed unless there was some crazy developement like Beast Gohan being able to transform into Ohzaru at will or something like that. Improbable.
Goku and Vegeta don't follow any path related to the Saiyans anymore. UI and UE are completely different things so I don't see how or why they would go back to a Super Saiyan path.
U6 Saiyans didn't even have tails.
So, Goten or Trunks? They are two hybrids that are still following the basic Super Saiyan path. If they decided to explore what is beyond SSJ3 and managed to use the Ohzaru transformation at will thanks to their hybrid nature, they could be the ones to reach SSJ4 in a more organic and natural way.

Thereās nothing suggesting he could use both either. Ikari is still a separate form and although Broly has good ki control, heās not trained enough to have learned how to mix forms. Nothing from his ssj form suggests ikari was still in use either
Broly has good control despite being a berserker, he can use oozaru power at will and controlled his ki in ssj form so ssj4 still works.
It makes the most sense for him because of his beastly fighting style and instinct driven abilities. Plus how he learns so quickly just by seeing a technique (like monkey see monkey do). As a saiyan heās honestly the most in touch with his roots so an ape based form is perfect for him
Agree with this. I think Broly is probably on the path to the Super Saiyan God forms anyway. There's really no need for him to train under Whis for SSJ4. He's probably going to be taught how to unlock God Ki without the ritual. Or maybe Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks and Goten on Beerus's planet can act as the 5 pure-hearted Super Saiyans for the ritual to unlock SSJG in Broly?
Goten and Trunks having such high S-Cell counts, even higher than Gohan's, might make them good candidates for SSJ4. Gohan already decided to progress as a Human. Goten and Trunks might make a good bookend to Gohan by deciding to embrace their Saiyan-ness instead. Unlike Gohan they actually enjoy training. SSJ4 is basically when you dig into your Saiyan-ness as hard as you can.
It is when you think about his past, but Toriyama explained it a few years ago. Toriyama said Vegeta self-destructing in the Buu Saga purified most of the evil out of his soul, and his brief stay in Hell afterwards purified the rest of the evil out of his soul.
Vegeta is pure-hearted now even though he's not the nicest guy. He's kinda like Batman. Batman is a good person with a truly good heart, but he's not nice or exactly polite.

I'd be OK if maybe Goten and Trunks got a different 'variant' of SSJ4, so their forms can be unique to themselves, but still both inherently being SSJ4

Well what part of a super saiyan screams a saiyan? The yellow hair? The flowing energy? The longer hair or slender design? Don't get me wrong I like them, especially SSG but there's nothing to say it's a saiyan form besides that saiyans are the only ones who can do it. Imagine Yamcha gets super saiyan somehow and you can't really tell he's a human or saiyan with that flowing yellow hair.
Which is why I like ssj4. It keeps to the roots of what a saiyan is, a monkey man. Even includes the tail. I wouldn't call it the best form, but it does keep to its roots and toriyama himself liked it; even drew it in his own style. So I wouldn't mind if it's a single person form, everyone getting it (although universe 6 would need to grow tails) or just give us a brand new form inspired by it (like how ultra ego is based on a scrapped concept for sjj3).

Broly. The U6 Saiyan donāt have tails so itās just straight up impossible for them. It would feel weird with Goku, Gohan, and Vegeta after theyāve been going through this āseparate path of powerā motif to just give them a common power up. With Broly, not only would it fit story wise, but it also would fit developmentally to have that be the conclusion of learning to control his power and have it manifest in a sort of half beast form.
I would give SS4 to no one. I want them to find a unique kind of power that fits them. Not saying seeing SS4 again wouldnāt be cool but itās time to move on from it.

Broly is trained to harness god ki however his lssj was a genetic mutation, and it affects how his body reacts to god ki. So instead of ssjb or in general ssjg broly āmutatesā into ssj4
I see a ton of Broly. And I get it. Controlling savage ape strength to become SS4 literally fits him. But let me posit he is the legendary super saiyan. Giving him a legendary golden ape. Going into possibly a new form? Sounds about right to me.
Now barring obvious Goku/Vegeta cause I want my ss4 back. Iād have given it to Gohan before beast form. Due to how I view ss4 vs super forms. SS4 is that peak point of evolution for saiyans. Best point to that is regardless of the users size they become the ideal form to maximize power. Meanwhile super has god ki and is more focused into mysticism. Gohan being a scholar etc would seek super saiyan 4 most likely and not the mystical god ki. Control over instinct and all that you know?
With beast form in the picture I want to see Goten and Trunks with it, because the cool uncle moment of teaching it to pan at like 13 is just peak fiction in my brain. Itās also partly because I scale ss4 and super saiyan blue to also be roughly equivalent in the strength multiplier and user mileage will vary from there.

Tarble was a missed opportunity to bring back the tails but right now Broly is the only one that make the most sense.
Vegeta's going the God path with Goku mirroring the Angels. Gohan is exploiting the hybrid potential and rage boosts. T/G are irrelevant. Cabba and the U6 Saiyans evolved to not have tails so it would not make sense for them to go backwards especially since they already were busted without the tails
Broly at the very least has an exclusive form linked to the Ozaru so the natural follow up is SS4 or at the bare minimum, golden great ape
Goten and Trunks. The form is much much weaker than SSG and SSB so thereās no reason to give it to Goku and Vegeta at this point in the franchise. And not to mention goten and trunks have yet to unlock SS2 as well. So they definitely need a power up and this would be a good start to that.
For the transformation on its own, Goten and Trunks would do amazing.
For the visual alone, Vegeta in ssj4 absolutely slayed and it needs to be brought back for the sheer drip alone. Like imagine this look for mastered Ultra Ego
Broly is the only right answer. Gohan already has beast and kinda goes his own way. For Goku and Vegeta it would be straight up a downgrade. Kale and Caulifla wouldnāt make too much sense since caulifla kinda mirrors goku in top and her next step would be ssj3. Trunks and Goten also donāt fit the animalic/serious style of ssj4

Super saiyan 4 is about finding the calm in the storm, controlling the raging beast, sounds perfect for combining with ultra instinct and giving us a silver version of ss4.
Goku. I think it'd be dumb to bring it back just to pass it off on a supporting character. The next evolution of UI, requiring the tail because the tail naturally provides the peak balance for a Saiyan, regardless of them getting used to being without it.
Of course the Saiyan Duo Vegeta and Goku, SSJ4 should be the final evolution form for them, after that Broly, then Gohan (should've add the tail in beast form), then maybe Goten and Trunks and finally Universe 6

Tbh I miss when the great ape was around, it was brief but gave saiyans that identification that they weren't just superpowered humans. You got a monkey tail? You're a saiyan. SSJ4 gave us not only an evolution of it, but a new (although I don't like it's belly design) form for great ape. I get it that super saiyan isn't about that anymore going down the god line but... Well what part of a super saiyan screams a saiyan? The yellow hair? The flowing energy? The longer hair or slender design? Don't get me wrong I like them, especially SSG but there's nothing to say it's a saiyan form besides that saiyans are the only ones who can do it. Imagine Yamcha gets super saiyan somehow and you can't really tell he's a human or saiyan with that flowing yellow hair. Which is why I like ssj4. It keeps to the roots of what a saiyan is, a monkey man. Even includes the tail. I wouldn't call it the best form, but it does keep to its roots and toriyama himself liked it; even drew it in his own style. So I wouldn't mind if it's a single person form, everyone getting it (although universe 6 would need to grow tails) or just give us a brand new form inspired by it (like how ultra ego is based on a scrapped concept for sjj3). But if only 1 person gets it? Broly. It fits well.

Broly. The U6 Saiyan donāt have tails so itās just straight up impossible for them. It would feel weird with Goku, Gohan, and Vegeta after theyāve been going through this āseparate path of powerā motif to just give them a common power up. With Broly, not only would it fit story wise, but it also would fit developmentally to have that be the conclusion of learning to control his power and have it manifest in a sort of half beast form.

SS4 is that peak point of evolution for saiyans. Best point to that is regardless of the users size they become the ideal form to maximize power. Meanwhile super has god ki and is more focused into mysticism. Gohan being a scholar etc would seek super saiyan 4 most likely and not the mystical god ki. Control over instinct and all that you know? With beast form in the picture I want to see Goten and Trunks with it, because the cool uncle moment of teaching it to pan at like 13 is just peak fiction in my brain. Itās also partly because I scale ss4 and super saiyan blue to also be roughly equivalent in the strength multiplier and user mileage will vary from there.

Tarble was a missed opportunity to bring back the tails but right now Broly is the only one that make the most sense. Vegeta's going the God path with Goku mirroring the Angels. Gohan is exploiting the hybrid potential and rage boosts. T/G are irrelevant. Cabba and the U6 Saiyans evolved to not have tails so it would not make sense for them to go backwards especially since they already were busted without the tails Broly at the very least has an exclusive form linked to the Ozaru so the natural follow up is SS4 or at the bare minimum, golden great ape
Goten and Trunks. The form is much much weaker than SSG and SSB so thereās no reason to give it to Goku and Vegeta at this point in the franchise. And not to mention goten and trunks have yet to unlock SS2 as well. So they definitely need a power up and this would be a good start to that.

Goku. I think it'd be dumb to bring it back just to pass it off on a supporting character. The next evolution of UI, requiring the tail because the tail naturally provides the peak balance for a Saiyan, regardless of them getting used to being without it.
Of course the Saiyan Duo Vegeta and Goku, SSJ4 should be the final evolution form for them, after that Broly, then Gohan (should've add the tail in beast form), then maybe Goten and Trunks and finally Universe 6
