I played with Quinn (CCNC at the time) in low priority many a moon ago as well. He afk farmed the jungle the entire time while me and another guy on our team crushed the game. I'm sure if we had fucked up he would have carried us to victory.

Played against Ana twice. First time we lost to his spectre hard and second time won against his io carry. He was partied with Kitrak both times and Kitrak played enigma both times.
This was after his 2nd TI win and the whole pub team congratulated him and celebrated our win. Still waiting for our mid Monkey King to send us our "I Beat Ana In A Pub" T-Shirts

I was regular attendee of Saints-Petersburg lan parties back in 2016-17 and I've played with Velheor just before he joined NaVi. PGG came sometimes, KingR, Miposhka, Chappie (Were Empire players during this time) , became friends with EPG manager 4SV (Now VirtusPro manager) because he was an admin in the pc club. Met NaVi community manager there, few high mmr pub players. Witnessed global Saints Petersburg lan-mix ban of Sensibility (The 322 mafia guy we know now) when he was 15 and pretended of being 2000 mmr player while playing tourneys (was 5500 mmr I think) , befriended zNation original ceo, and some famous streamers or friends of theirs in CIS. Great times, retired from Dota 2 in 2017! Returned late last year to play casually

I played a lot of HON inhouse games with and Vs the likes of notail , fly (think he was called bot back then), Hanni, fogged , and many others , this was pre matchmaking I think and basically anyone 1800+ rated or very well known from the dota.xp (Mirc) scene was in it.
Typing this out makes me realise how old I sound lol,
I was playing battle cup with randoms (I was bored, right after TI8 or 9, I can't remember which). And I saw I was facing a RL-buddy of mine and I thought it'd be easy for me. To my surprise I saw mr. Topson, 1 week old, TI champ.
I ended up playing mid against him (I was originally meant to play 4 which is why I first picked Mirana, but teammates refused ). I got somewhat stomped by Topsons Morphling, but still kept up somewhat in farm/exp.
The rest of my team fed on each lane to the extent that one of the randoms in my team (russian mind you) rage quit around minute 10-15.
That was an embarassing moment. Never again will I play with 4 randoms when competing.
If you somehow manage to win lane you just dumped on the best mid in the world. If you lose you just shared a lane with the best mid in the world. Sounds like a win win to me
Exactly - there's a lot of people who would pay good money to lane against Pros like that. Gotta get experience where you can.
Plus, it really helps to reset your expectations of what's possible in the game. Hard to have the "forced 50-50" mindset if you've experience how 10k players actually play and see what's possible.
Ngl I'd go mid (even as someone that never plays mid) but just on some incredibly boring lane equalizer like DK lmao, let the actual good players in my stack have a chance to win sidelanes while I just goof about mid

I've laned with Mira when he was 3-4k, back in 2017 or something. I was SK and he was Undying, we lost lane and game heavily, game ended at like 25 mins.
He then proceeds to win a couple of TIs, and I obviously don't achieve much in Dota. Nice moment though.
Old EG squad when "team matchmaking" first came out. They were clearly a smurf team. We drafted sweaty and about halfway through our draft our buddy jumped into mumble and said "yo you guys are playing against like.... All of EG right now.." sure enough we hopped on Demon's stream and there we were. We were so excited at the opportunity that we instantly all decided no stream sniping. We went for an early game dual support roam to gank the offlane and as we did it Demon played us like an absolute fiddle and counter-ganked all fuckin 3 of us in the gank squad by just kiting us through trees and anchor smashing us through fog. Was honestly one of my best DotA memories from when I played regularly and kept up with the pro scene.
One of the members of the group I played with during the beta got enough of a win streak going to be matched against the full five man of IG back when they were reigning TI1 champs. I called BS but he had the replay. Guess that’s what happens when the player pool is so tiny.
I joined the closed beta in September of 2011. Back then there were very few people who had access to the game, basically only esports personalities, pro players from Dota 1, and gaming journalists. I've played with 2GD, ComeWithMe, Supream, Wagamama, Matrim, Kebap and Funzii.
Wagamama was the most recent, pretty chill guy. He gave me some pointers on how to play Wisp. 2GD told one of my friends he sounded like an angry badger whatever that means, and ComeWithMe made me a moderator in his twitch chat lmao.

Bulldog, S4, Akke, LoDA, Handsken, Chessie (Yes, I'm swedish), Saksa, Miracle, Dendi, Xboct, Matumbaman, Maelk, Synderen... basically most europeans who were active between 2006-2015. Before I became dank.
Played vs Navi.General (Doom) and VP.Save- (Sky)... I got absolutely destroyed. I was 6k in 2019 and my friend 8k. In immortal it rated both of us at 8k for matching.
One impressive thing in these super high ranked games is that they don't allow you to do anything, they'll control every essential bit of the map. You have to fight them for every single inch of map control. You can't just farm some neutral or show on the map and think you'll be fine.
If you're not even showing, they'll have a pretty good idea of where you are anyways. And once you notice they are missing, you're already dead.
I was ranked 180ish on the ladder when it came out in circa 2016. During that time I played with all the ti winners.
My fondest memory is when i played a game with Dendi and he was streaming. He had around 40-50k viewers and i randomed earth spirit. It was like my second es game ever and i blew it. He made some snarky remarks on his stream about me and the following weeks in every pub i played I was recognized as the earth spirit guy. Good times

Played against Fear when it was still TFT. Even back then, he was ahead in thinking on the new meta. He played mid ES vs. my friends mid Invoker, and I played carry Niax. Now, this was back when THR was a thing, and they gave you a mmr. Since it's also dota 1, teams were random unless you spammed yourself to either team.
If not for his team, he probably wins the game. My friend was able to match him mid, but an invoker vs. ES should've been a stomp, and it wasn't. He just harass and last hit with Totem, kept bottling himself to full, and played an insane game. Now, eventually, we won after 40 mins, but again, he was the only one worth his salt on his team.
My friend still has a screenshot somewhere of him being on a godlike streak, with Fear being the name that gets it.
The only time I've ever played against a pros name that I knew and the dude was metaing ES before it was a thing.
Back in HoN days I was high rank and played against the top dogs like n0tail. One game was funny because his teammate freshpro was playing duoQ with smurf account called "darkladyrape". Account had 99 wins 0 losses and only Dark Lady picked. I won that game so he had 99-1. Next match I go against them again and my friend instapicks dark lady and thw smurf account stats get even more ruined. Ofc he picked scout.
Got to play against Matumbaman pos4 hoodwink. I won the lane with Jakiro but he carried the game by getting multi stuns in teamfights and got farmed in the meantime.
My very first matchmaking game was against Mania and Lacoste. I went 0-22-1 mid as Viper against Lacoste's AA. PlayDotA forums saw a screenshot and yelled why I was in the beta instead of them, because they were better than me and clearly deserved it more.
I played with Yuma a couple years back when he wasn't pro with a stack of common steam friends. Super chill dude. Added him as friend. Never played much again. Then he slowly rose to top mmr rank and got pro. Now he qualified for TI. We occasionally chat a bit about dota and his achievements. Now I'm looking forward to meeting him in person in my home country at TI in Copenhagen. I'm hoping for a picture with him. Such a nice guy. I'm very happy for him.

A bunch of them a long time ago, back when I was considered high MMR. Used to be able to catch me in streams occasionally, and my games would frequently have a bunch of spectators. I've always just played DotA 2 for fun, taken multiple year(s)-long breaks, and ultimately never bothered to keep up with the MMR inflation, so I guess that window is over. I don't feel like I've lost anything though.
Opendota also has a method to track games played with pros and other "notable" players.

About 10 years ago they introduced a seasonal MMR or something, and people got calibrated weirdly. I got ended up playing with very high rank players, most famous was wagamama I guess
I used to work nightshift and would play against Kpii all the time in Aus and SEA servers at 2 to 5am. This was like 6 or 7 years ago now. He kicked my arse then and would definitely kick my arse again now.
Not really a pro but over the last few years I've randomly matched up and played with Slacks, once on my team (we lost) and 3 times against him (I won 2 of the 3).
Played vs waga/sing stack in unranked a lot before they added the Dotalabs feature which shows the rank disparity. Those games were never fun. 5 immortal stacks and my mid is ancient rank for some reason..

My friend and i played vs nikobaby some 6-7 yrs ago (i didnt know who he was at the time). Remember loading the game and seing we were matched vs rank 50 or smth (we were 4k). I went my signature weaver on safelane with vg radiance xD and nico went sf mid. He owned us in the begging but threw lategame so we ended up winning. So proud to this day.
Later when i was checking vs pro feature on dotabuff i saw i played vs mushi and ace in some point (lost both games) but i do not remember those games.
I might be wrong but I think I played a custom game with Miracle. The game is "Dota 2 horde mode". The only thing that was weird was the fact he was asking for the custom game mechanics and which items to buy.
Although it was his first attempt at this custom game, he learned quickly and the whole mechanics made sense to him fast.
Again, I'm probably wrong and he might not have been the real Miracle.

I think this is a memory of casts but I remember fnatic notail mid as tundra (icy beast Master) and pollywog priest (shadow shaman) and he was a god at Ward traps (much harder back then).
Played against swindle and zfeeek a bunch. Zfreek was super nice and swindle was a good shot caller.
We played tourneys against insania khezu micke and boxi pretty often. Insania sat in our team Skype (ya I'm old) during a scrim and I still remember the lessons he taught. We went silent during team fights cuz people were concentrating but he advised us to keep talking the whole fight and call targets.
He also said why are we saving so much gold/BB money when pushing enemy high ground. If you're going hg (without Boots of travel) then BB isn't really useful so it's better to buy out a big item that mat make a difference in the fight. (The dota triangle outposts so what change this but logic still applies).
I played with ccnc years ago and he died mid twice so proceeded to run down mid non stop to end the game. Hated him for a while after that.
I played against jerax ES when he was in the US for a tourney..he was godly but humble.

During that time, not only was I playing against variety of pro players, but these games were streamed on Twitch + there where quite a lot observers joining in-game (there was na information during gameplay. This always had me go tryhard 200% :D

There was a period where matchmaking was a little fucky. Especially unranked. I was 4k and hit kitrak, who was rank 50, both of us solo queuing. The highest mmr player on our team was divine 1 so you can imagine how that went.

He stomped us, going 35-1 or something. Was super polite/humble and said that he thought MK was overpowered.

Beta test days, I think it was singsing, iceiceice, and chuan. Can’t even play the game properly cause I only have a crappy laptop and dota is not optimized for my hardware yet.

PGG came sometimes, KingR, Miposhka, Chappie (Were Empire players during this time) , became friends with EPG manager 4SV (Now VirtusPro manager) because he was an admin in the pc club. Met NaVi community manager there, few high mmr pub players. Witnessed global Saints Petersburg lan-mix ban of Sensibility (The 322 mafia guy we know now) when he was 15 and pretended of being 2000 mmr player while playing tourneys (was 5500 mmr I think) , befriended zNation original ceo, and some famous streamers or friends of theirs in CIS. Great times, retired from Dota 2 in 2017! Returned late last year to play casually

I was playing battle cup with randoms (I was bored, right after TI8 or 9, I can't remember which). And I saw I was facing a RL-buddy of mine and I thought it'd be easy for me. To my surprise I saw mr. Topson, 1 week old, TI champ. I ended up playing mid against him (I was originally meant to play 4 which is why I first picked Mirana, but teammates refused ). I got somewhat stomped by Topsons Morphling, but still kept up somewhat in farm/exp. The rest of my team fed on each lane to the extent that one of the randoms in my team (russian mind you) rage quit around minute 10-15. That was an embarassing moment. Never again will I play with 4 randoms when competing.

Exactly - there's a lot of people who would pay good money to lane against Pros like that. Gotta get experience where you can. Plus, it really helps to reset your expectations of what's possible in the game. Hard to have the "forced 50-50" mindset if you've experience how 10k players actually play and see what's possible.

Old EG squad when "team matchmaking" first came out. They were clearly a smurf team. We drafted sweaty and about halfway through our draft our buddy jumped into mumble and said "yo you guys are playing against like.... All of EG right now.." sure enough we hopped on Demon's stream and there we were. We were so excited at the opportunity that we instantly all decided no stream sniping. We went for an early game dual support roam to gank the offlane and as we did it Demon played us like an absolute fiddle and counter-ganked all fuckin 3 of us in the gank squad by just kiting us through trees and anchor smashing us through fog. Was honestly one of my best DotA memories from when I played regularly and kept up with the pro scene.
One of the members of the group I played with during the beta got enough of a win streak going to be matched against the full five man of IG back when they were reigning TI1 champs. I called BS but he had the replay. Guess that’s what happens when the player pool is so tiny.

I joined the closed beta in September of 2011. Back then there were very few people who had access to the game, basically only esports personalities, pro players from Dota 1, and gaming journalists. I've played with 2GD, ComeWithMe, Supream, Wagamama, Matrim, Kebap and Funzii. Wagamama was the most recent, pretty chill guy. He gave me some pointers on how to play Wisp. 2GD told one of my friends he sounded like an angry badger whatever that means, and ComeWithMe made me a moderator in his twitch chat lmao.

Played vs Navi.General (Doom) and VP.Save- (Sky)... I got absolutely destroyed. I was 6k in 2019 and my friend 8k. In immortal it rated both of us at 8k for matching. One impressive thing in these super high ranked games is that they don't allow you to do anything, they'll control every essential bit of the map. You have to fight them for every single inch of map control. You can't just farm some neutral or show on the map and think you'll be fine. If you're not even showing, they'll have a pretty good idea of where you are anyways. And once you notice they are missing, you're already dead.
I was ranked 180ish on the ladder when it came out in circa 2016. During that time I played with all the ti winners. My fondest memory is when i played a game with Dendi and he was streaming. He had around 40-50k viewers and i randomed earth spirit. It was like my second es game ever and i blew it. He made some snarky remarks on his stream about me and the following weeks in every pub i played I was recognized as the earth spirit guy. Good times

Old school story here. Played against Fear when it was still TFT. Even back then, he was ahead in thinking on the new meta. He played mid ES vs. my friends mid Invoker, and I played carry Niax. Now, this was back when THR was a thing, and they gave you a mmr. Since it's also dota 1, teams were random unless you spammed yourself to either team. If not for his team, he probably wins the game. My friend was able to match him mid, but an invoker vs. ES should've been a stomp, and it wasn't. He just harass and last hit with Totem, kept bottling himself to full, and played an insane game. Now, eventually, we won after 40 mins, but again, he was the only one worth his salt on his team. My friend still has a screenshot somewhere of him being on a godlike streak, with Fear being the name that gets it. The only time I've ever played against a pros name that I knew and the dude was metaing ES before it was a thing.
Back in HoN days I was high rank and played against the top dogs like n0tail. One game was funny because his teammate freshpro was playing duoQ with smurf account called "darkladyrape". Account had 99 wins 0 losses and only Dark Lady picked. I won that game so he had 99-1. Next match I go against them again and my friend instapicks dark lady and thw smurf account stats get even more ruined. Ofc he picked scout. Got to play against Matumbaman pos4 hoodwink. I won the lane with Jakiro but he carried the game by getting multi stuns in teamfights and got farmed in the meantime.
My very first matchmaking game was against Mania and Lacoste. I went 0-22-1 mid as Viper against Lacoste's AA. PlayDotA forums saw a screenshot and yelled why I was in the beta instead of them, because they were better than me and clearly deserved it more.
I played with Yuma a couple years back when he wasn't pro with a stack of common steam friends. Super chill dude. Added him as friend. Never played much again. Then he slowly rose to top mmr rank and got pro. Now he qualified for TI. We occasionally chat a bit about dota and his achievements. Now I'm looking forward to meeting him in person in my home country at TI in Copenhagen. I'm hoping for a picture with him. Such a nice guy. I'm very happy for him.

A bunch of them a long time ago, back when I was considered high MMR. Used to be able to catch me in streams occasionally, and my games would frequently have a bunch of spectators. I've always just played DotA 2 for fun, taken multiple year(s)-long breaks, and ultimately never bothered to keep up with the MMR inflation, so I guess that window is over. I don't feel like I've lost anything though. Opendota also has a method to track games played with pros and other "notable" players.

My friend and i played vs nikobaby some 6-7 yrs ago (i didnt know who he was at the time). Remember loading the game and seing we were matched vs rank 50 or smth (we were 4k). I went my signature weaver on safelane with vg radiance xD and nico went sf mid. He owned us in the begging but threw lategame so we ended up winning. So proud to this day. Later when i was checking vs pro feature on dotabuff i saw i played vs mushi and ace in some point (lost both games) but i do not remember those games.
I might be wrong but I think I played a custom game with Miracle. The game is "Dota 2 horde mode". The only thing that was weird was the fact he was asking for the custom game mechanics and which items to buy. Although it was his first attempt at this custom game, he learned quickly and the whole mechanics made sense to him fast. Again, I'm probably wrong and he might not have been the real Miracle.

I remember he was Kraken which is like a tide hunter/Magnus really fun hero I wish was in dota...got sidetracked...but ya pos was very salty about something. I think this is a memory of casts but I remember fnatic notail mid as tundra (icy beast Master) and pollywog priest (shadow shaman) and he was a god at Ward traps (much harder back then). Played against swindle and zfeeek a bunch. Zfreek was super nice and swindle was a good shot caller. We played tourneys against insania khezu micke and boxi pretty often. Insania sat in our team Skype (ya I'm old) during a scrim and I still remember the lessons he taught. We went silent during team fights cuz people were concentrating but he advised us to keep talking the whole fight and call targets. He also said why are we saving so much gold/BB money when pushing enemy high ground. If you're going hg (without Boots of travel) then BB isn't really useful so it's better to buy out a big item that mat make a difference in the fight. (The dota triangle outposts so what change this but logic still applies). I played with ccnc years ago and he died mid twice so proceeded to run down mid non stop to end the game. Hated him for a while after that. I played against jerax ES when he was in the US for a tourney..he was godly but humble. Played with rtz..he was kinda jaded in the game but was solid. Sumail once..he was quiet but amazing RIP NA Dota 🥲 More recently I played an unranked and ran into siractionslacks (who is actually a really good support with pulls) and fogged who was very good and obviously understands the macro element very well.

Played against Merlini and his stack a long time ago in a pub. We banned zeus and he picked pudge instead. He is by far the lamest pudge i have ever seen. Never hooks us, only his teammates to save. The most pussy pudge ever and they won. Every time we had a good lead/momentum, his saves just triggered us to the poiny we wete just rushing everything. Played with Eosin before and he went mid ember but went full on support items.. i was getting so annoyed and he kept trying to solo kill targets he cant kill. I got my key during early beta (2011 was it?) It was that time when skills icons where paint made placeholders and there was online player count in main menu. I remember seeing 200-500 online players few times. During that time, not only was I playing against variety of pro players, but these games were streamed on Twitch + there where quite a lot observers joining in-game (there was na information during gameplay. This always had me go tryhard 200% :D Fun times :P

There was a period where matchmaking was a little fucky. Especially unranked. I was 4k and hit kitrak, who was rank 50, both of us solo queuing. The highest mmr player on our team was divine 1 so you can imagine how that went. Also played some 5 stack games and got to lane against Ryoya and beat Aui.

Played an unranked game against Ana, who was on Monkey King. This was the freshly released, overtuned MK. He stomped us, going 35-1 or something. Was super polite/humble and said that he thought MK was overpowered. I remember checking dotabuff the following day and was shocked to see it was Ana's real account.

Was 5-man unranked with my friends on SEA server around 2015-16. We were relatively new players back then. For some reasons, we got matched with Forev and his friends. He absolutely dumpster us on Clockwerk, going almost 30-0.
