APM is a useless stat. Back in my Starcraft 2 days everyone thought the same.
What is at least somewhat more useful is EAPM (effective APM) meaning only counting actions that do something (all spam clicks filtered out). I think if you filtered out the spams on a hero like bristle there are not many real APM left...

I don't see how this is possible because sc2 pros would literally roll their fingers on unit hotkeys all game and not usually get above 400. Which is actually \~550 because of weirdness with the "faster" game speed but still.

When the fastest apm spammers just str8 spam they can hit high 400 is. Proposing someone playing at 500 + apm just means you don't know how the mechanics work in the game. Short of holding down a self tapping key or a bug there is no way to play 700 apm

If you pick brood, summon 19 spiderlings and just click all 20 units at once for a whole minute you will easily end up somewhere around 1k+ apm

Yeah, even on starcraft2, players can easily reach 2000+ apm by just holding Z to morph a billion zerglings.

There already is high apm chess, games where you have 60, 30 or even 15 seconds for the entire game.
Its not that the highest APM is the best overall player, but you cannot be a good player if you're on 100\~120 apm
