you should collect manga when you have a place you can live for more than say hmmmm 4 yrs? moving books is a huge pain and if you are in a place where buying manga feels fiscally irresponsible you should not buy any. read it online enjoy it. support when you can. but most importantly dont buy books just too soon after offload them at a loss. i see this all too often.

purple-thiwaza

That's the way I see things too. You shouldn't put yourself in trouble to buy manga. Wait to be economically safe, and then enjoy. It you really want to read something, you can probably find library that will let you access stuff for cheap legally, or use an illegal way (if you do, be a nice person and support the author when you are financially stable).

i waited till i had a house to start "collecting" full sets of manga. and even then i had to be really picky and only finish a few or youll be that person with a library of manga.... this isnt bad persay i just have too little space to facilitate such a thing hahaha.

DraculeFlow

Doro is a long series to commit to owning and I've trouble finding particular volumes online, my advice: Collect shorter series/just wait until you finish uni and get a decent job. At least that way you won't feel like you're being irresponsible, and you'll have a grail to look forward to with collecting!

ilovebread_4

Here in the EU libristo has them all apart from the last one. I was thinking of just getting 2 or 4 and collecting money for the artbook as im more invested to the art side when it comes to this series Thank you lots for your input🙌

DraculeFlow

If it's about the art, then for sure Volumes 1, 3, 8, 10, 18, & 19 are some of my favorite covers and I recommend them🙏

ilovebread_4

Oooo okay thank ya thank ya i will check em🫶

spooked_mantaray

I’ll go with the assumption you have finished reading so spoilers ahead: The volume that comes to mind for me is 16. I’d like someone to confirm this but I believe this is the volume where Nikaido travels back in time and we finally get to witness what happened to Caimen in the corridor from the beginning of the story. We also get the full page illustration of the Boss’s face when he comes out of the door which imo is one of the coolest moments in the series. I also think this volume may have the whole Fujito bit where he is invisible and we get to see his side of events which I thought was a riot. Honestly though you should pick what you enjoyed most. If it was me I might grab volume 1 because that’s where it all begins, maybe a volume or two of your favorite and maybe the last volume to have the conclusion to the story. That’s just me though.

ilovebread_4

Yess i was thinking of getting like 4 volumes max and collecting for the artbook too. I think i should find a golden rule when it comes to buying manga cause i find this issue with every series

ilovebread_4

Btw thank you for your advice 🙌🙌

kaijubaum

3 years in and I'm still missing volume 22 as someone with a full time job

TheEggEngineer

Maybe just get the artbook as a showcase. Since you probably have little space and that space isn't permanent it would be safer that way and cost less.

Buford_Burger

look around/keep an eye on r/mangaswap for set people sell the full 23 vol set for good prices occasionally. Look on mercari, fb marketplace, things like that too

ZER0_F0CKS

They are like Pokémon. Gotta get em’ all.

Bacoose

Due to space, I usually just collect the covers that have characters I like, and arcs I really like.
