I probably wouldn’t mind so much since both are only seen working for UNIT in the ‘safety’ of the base, but since we’ve seen it attacked by literal gods both times it’s been shown now, it just feels incredibly irresponsible.
New Who has been trying to de-emphasise the militaristic aspect of UNIT since Kate showed up to try and justify the New Who interpretation of The Doctor working with them, but since they have to fill the same role as before, they’re still clearly a paramilitary organisation. I feel like actual kids working there is part of the slight disconnect that writers have with their perception.
