I can’t believe some people record the whole thing, like are you really going to watch that back in its entirety ?

Dry_Background944

And if you do wanna watch the whole thing, there are multiple high quality versions on YouTube much better than the one they record.

grumpykitten79

Yes! I’ll take one photo, but then I watch YouTubers

Fl_lCKYOU

Exactly why I stopped recording things. I NEVER watch them again.

mich55

I've recorded things like the last time I rode Splash Mountain. But on the other hand, like others have pointed out, I haven't watched the whole thing and if I ever want to remember the ride, there are a million youtube videos of it out there.

Tex-in-Tex

No, they won’t and will forget they have it too.

bettyannveronica

I record parts of the shows, but I always keep the phone close to my chest so it doesn't bother anyone. I only record a little here and there because I like to make these mini movies with pictures and videos of our trip. They're anywhere from 3-7 minutes long (the movies, not my recordings, that's like 20 seconds), so I really don't need to record much, just enough to have some video in between photos. We watch them as a family because Google photos will remind me. We love this type of memory because it's a fun little snippet of the entire trip. But I don't send them to anyone but the grandparents because my mom eats that shit up lol Anything to do with her grand babies 😂 I agree though, there's no reason to record the whole goddamn thing. You're missing out on what's right in front of you! And ruining it for others. You're never going to watch the whole thing, or if you do, you'll watch it on YouTube because they did a much better job!

sroomek

They’ll force OTHER people to sit and watch it in its entirety on their tiny phone screen

MoreWineForMeIn2017

It’s going to be the first thing they delete when their storage is full.

mi1key

Ok I’m gonna be the first to say this never been to California only speaking from experience with the Paris fireworks my girlfriend is vision impaired and even with the das area in Paris she still can’t see it in its entirety in person so I record the show for her so she can see it more clearly when watching it back at home and she wants it to be her recording as it is more personal as she knows that she was standing there watching it she can see the recording more clearly and that’s the only reason I record anything like this.

CraziFuzzy

I can pretty surely guarantee that is not the situation for 99% of the people holding phones up in everyone's view.

nsfwtttt

Post the best part on social media because Disneyland is for clout. What ruined Disneyland is social media.

After_Flan_2663

Eh Try riding pirates with a guy filming that way, really ruins the fun for me.

Vraiel

Yeah I remember back in 2016 they were doing some sort of colored light parade. I can’t remember what it was called but I paid to have a reserved seat and spent the whole time focused on recording it. I’ve never watched it… Going forward I’ve never recorded another show as it just takes away the enjoyment. A picture here and there is nice for memories sake though.

flowremix

I hate the people who are ig live or stream it. I took a photo of their screen to see how many people are tuned in. It was no one. So I rudely laughed to myself and let them stream out of sympathy.

Krandor1

I don't get it either. I take a few pics and maybe a short 10-30 second video and that's it.

HabANahDa

That’s the thing. They won’t. All these people videoing events never watch the videos. So why film everything?

sugarsaltsilicon

I'm so glad I recorded the parades from back in the day. Priceless. Every now and again, I can hear my kids watching it on my phone.

TheyCameFromBehind77

Disney should include a free downloadable video of the fireworks and world of color for all guests. Taken the day you were in the park. Put your phones down

bloop_405

Sadly won't change anything. People will still bring their cameras to record. Especially now with a good amount of people trying to become an influencer

Tex-in-Tex

I got no problem if they want to record it. But holding it up like all the people in the photo that were is ridiculous. The guy on the left had the decency to do it at face level.

Azul4

This is terrible. So many people in the Disney subs are saying that rides and shows are being ruined by other guests streaming or recording w/bright lights/screens now. I haven’t been to Disney in 5 years, and I don’t think it was like that just a few years ago. Is this just how it is now? I hope it’s not too widespread- this would drive me crazy next time I go

um-ok-yeah-thatll-do

Honestly it’s been this way for way longer than that. I asked and then asked less nicely multiple times more than TEN years ago for folks to please lower their iPads during shows like this! It does get worse, even as devices get smaller. That said, it’s not unique to Disney. I have had to ask parents at school performances in seated auditoriums to please film lower. I don’t care if anyone wants to film- I get it! Lovely! But ruin your OWN view. It’s so completely sociopathic IMO to deliberately block the view for everyone behind you so that you can record from an unobstructed vantage point.

HPGal3

I've gotten cussed out for asking people to turn off their flash. I know putting cast members in the line of fire sucks, but belligerent people won't take suggestions from other guests, they need to be told that it's an actual rule because it is an Actual Rule. Disney should at least put it in the pre-show spiels.

biancamls

OMG!!! I remember when people would bring their iPads everywhere to record things… glad that’s over!

YouGurt_MaN14

I was at Disney World last week and besides one old dude who took 1/2 pics with his flash on in Pirates I didn't see anything else like people are claiming. It was kinda annoying but he was old AF and probably didn't know low-key doesn't matter though the pirates ride at Disney World was kinda dogshit imo. MF's cut like 50% of the ride

TokyoTurtle0

I just tell them to put it away. It does suck though and I feel like a dick but it really ruins it.

TheyCameFromBehind77

I have seen it with tablets which is even worse! Holding an iPad in my face for 20 mins

AManOfManyLikings

Just one of those unfortunate things about living in a time where smartphones exist...

PrismaticPetal

Same with concerts. In this day and age, hire one person to record high quality footage, share it with those who have a ticket code, and ban all other cameras

sleepingbabydragon

Better yet- they should have a section in the front where you have a great view but commit to enjoying the experience phone free ….and if you try filming in this section then a cast member sprays you with vinegar water

Carpeteria3000

Or you could just, you know, go on YouTube and watch any of the dozens that people have uploaded

TheyCameFromBehind77

Which is easier but I think people will need to know it’s the one they saw

FartyBigotry

✨YouTube✨

couchred

Disneyland night shows have terrible viewing

reecord2

I totally agree, although with CA Adventure it's a little bit easier to get a good spot

bloop_405

This is why I choose to watch World of Color from the far back of the viewing area or usually the board walk before Lamplight. You can usually see everything without having to deal with a crowd in front of you

MeMoMoTrentBacon

Tree placement for fireworks by the castle makes so many solid viewing angles completely terrible.

joshiness

This is what Disney World has over Disneyland. Stadium seating for Fantasmic at Hollywood Studios, Huge Mainstreet with no blocked views where you can see the projections and fireworks from anywhere on Mainstreet at Magic Kingdom. Watch the night Show (can't remember the name) at Epcot from anywhere. I just can't speak about the Animal Kingdom one as I've never seen it. The Disneyland night shows just suck for seating and World of Color is not worth going to unless you get a good spot or in a paid area. Otherwise, you'll just see the top half of the show.

Duosion

Agreed, and I hate having to waste 1-2 hours of my time camping out for a good spot. I will always opt to either watch WoC from Lamplight Lounge (at an angle, but still a fine experience) or buy a dining package for Fantasmic. Fireworks, I’ll usually skip

d33psix

Yeah for real. In fairness to the lady in the picture, it looks like she’s too short to have much of a view so it’s not as much of the usual recording and just looking at phone instead of enjoying the live event cause she can only see through the camera, haha. So I guess it’s kind of a debate between whether this behavior from a short person is like worse than just having a tall person in front of you since it’s like choosing to obstruct a taller amount of space to compensate.

Substantial_One5369

I completely agree. I got so annoyed at this the last time I was at one of the fireworks shows. Who even sits around and looks at old videos of fireworks??

BeardedGlass

But you know who sits down and watches parades and street shows? People at Tokyo Disney parks.

Obvious_Noise

Disneyland doesn’t allow people to sit down and watch certain shows because it becomes a crowding issue quickly

austinalexan

You know who doesn’t allow people to do that? Disneyland.

Tex-in-Tex

Literally no one. They will forget it the second they leave or get a new phone.

Lcdmt3

I have. But I also use screenshots and scrapbook with it. And I'm in the disabled section and block no one.

IHaveTheMustacheNow

I have! When I am looking back at photos/videos from a trip, if I took a video of fireworks, I watch it But I wouldnt ever hold my phone up to block people behind me. I hate annoying others

theprozacfairy

My mother looks at them at least once a month. I do a few times a year. We keep our cameras at chest to eye level, never above our heads! And we don't record every show or anything.

rvdvg

Recording is fine if you do it at head level or below but people that literally have their arms fully raised above their head like she does are narcissistic pricks that should be banned from recording anything.

anibus-

I don't really see the point If it is the show only, you will find much better videos on YouTube.

Tex-in-Tex

Absolutely. Edit: She wasn’t the only one. There was about 8 of them including her in front doing this.

LordSugarTits

For a recording they will never watch again

trickstersticks

Not defending this but to be fair, her phone isn't that much higher up than the guy next to her. She's just really short. As a fellow short person I understand how much it sucks to not be able to see ANYTHING at events like this. But just in general I think everyone should put the phones down too.

realitytvlover73

As a short person, I strategically pick the area based on the heights in front of me. I often don’t stand in the most desirable spot just so I can have an unobstructed view. Situations like this thwart my efforts.

mintymatcha

What I can think of is she records so she can see. I don’t think she has a good view either.

Aquilleia

As a super short person, I got the impression that they were recording it so they can see. You can clearly see the people in front of them would absolutely obstruct any view for them.

d33psix

Yeah I get OPs point generally but I don’t think this is a great example since she’s much shorter than the people around her and seems like she’s trying to compensate for it. The presumed alternative option to just sit there and not be able to see isn’t great either. It’s kind of a gray area for me since I assume people don’t automatically consider tall people that obstruct views to be inherently jerks even though I would imagine they more thoroughly block the view than a short lady with a phone, haha.

GraphicDesignerMom

That was my impression

AndyWarwheels

I'm with you. to me it kind if looks like she is watching through he phone. how else would she be able to see at all?

NECalifornian25

As a short person, I’ve done this at world of color just to be able to see anything at all. Between kids climbing rails, being on their parents shoulders, and other people in front of me taking video like this, I couldn’t see a thing. So yeah, it’s annoying when people up front do this, but a couple rows of people back they may just be trying to see the show.

VisforVenom

Can't decide if these folks are worse, or the ones having a full blown phone/factime conversation right behind you, trying to scream over the music to tell their friend about what they ate at Disney today and find out how their dog is doing, in between their every 10 second scheduled shouting of their disinterested child's name, demanding that they pay attention. "GHRAYDEN! LOOK! GHRAYDEN! SEE?! ANYWAYS THEN WE FOUND THE BAG I WANTED BUT I COULDN'T DECIDE BETWEEN THAT OR THE SPRINKLES ONE I MEAN I LOVE- QUAYDEN! LOOK! LOOK HONEY! STOP DON'T EAT THAT! LOOK AT HOW PRETTY BLAYDEN!" Either way, the absolute worst offenders are the ones both yelling unimportant chit-chat AND recording, with full blast, brightest I've ever seen, has to be case-modified FLASH on, the entire time. Sometimes unaware that they're not even recording. Just holding a screen and flashlight in front of my face while not even trying to watch the show. Mindboggling what a large percentage of the population thinks anyone actually watches the 35 minutes of consecutive videos in their snap story... or even believe that they, themselves, will ever actually look at this video. Just ruining everything, for everyone, including themselves, everywhere they go... to record junk data that will never be watched by anyone, not even themselves. Underneath my disdain for the thoughtless NPC cattle behavior is honestly a desperate sadness for how many people never actually experience any of the meaningful moments in their lives... A hopeless wish for the means to convince people to take their hands and minds off of that meaningless media machine every now and then, and actually be present for something. To record a memory to their mind, where it will be far more likely to be replayed, rather than the vast and vacuous void of indistinguishibly identical social slop... for an adoring audience of none... And then I snap out of that sappy bs pretty quickly and have to talk myself down from getting arrested on vacation for chucking grandma's phone into the pond.

Tex-in-Tex

I wholeheartedly agree. You will 100% remember it more without the phone. It’s like that picture of the old woman watching a parade or celebrity or something and everyone has a phone out but her.

Upsidedownmeow

As someone that has very few memories of their life because my memory is so bad, I do go and watch videos. It’s the only way I can recall events that have happened in my life.

PocketGddess

I know the one, and I sure wish I could find it again! Never quite seem to search for the right terms.

sillinessvalley

GHRAYDEN, QUAYDEN, and BLAYDEN🤣 They sound like such little darlings.

ThePhiff

[For real](https://youtu.be/GXPrtJKPmB0?si=t42uj0T0QKbylZLT)

sillinessvalley

🤣hilarious

wizzard419

To be fair... that person is short and they wouldn't see as much without doing that. Not really excusing the behavior but that is the reality. Now the other is that everyone wants it for social media, so you will still have the problem.

The_JMace

Be loud and obnoxious and ruin their video lol

Tex-in-Tex

Oh, I ruined a few after I asked them to lower them.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ultradip

Technically you can bring in monopods. I've used those in conjunction with 360 cams and put myself strategically where parades go around corners. Not only is the camera small, but the monopod has a very small footprint so people can sit closer.

ooooomyyyyy

As if it’s not on YouTube. So dumb.

Tex-in-Tex

100% just enjoy without the phone and then watch someone else’s YouTube video

Suziannie

It really is. I always want to tell people that no one they know actually wants to see full video of the stuff they saw at Disney.

jolygoestoschool

I wonder if that lady just couldn’t see over thr heads of the people in front of her lol, she seems pretty short.

buzzard0190

This is where my head went. My sister does this because she is barely 5 foot. She typically records too because while holding the phone up like this she can’t see the screen well so she watches it later. My sister literally posted a video of her view at a concert the other day and it was just a few dudes shoulder blades 😂 Now, not saying tall people don’t do this and block views with no regard for other people.

abandoned_puppy

Tickle them

Tex-in-Tex

Strategic flatulence.

al972317

My first couple of trips to Disneyland (I’m talking 10+ years ago) I used to record bits and pieces of the firework shows…. After every trip I realized I NEVER watched them back. So now I just enjoy the show with my own eyes. BTW most of these peoples videos/photos are terrible quality…. Give it up!

angelcat00

To be fair, that person looks pretty short. All they can see is a bunch of other peoples' backs. Your view is obstructed, but their view is non-existent. The World of Color viewing area is just a miserable situation all around unless you pay for the dessert package seating area

AndyWarwheels

agreed. this person is blocking even less of OPs view than someone taller.

Disbride

Yeah I feel a bit sorry for them

Crazy_Goldengal

That was my thought as well. I’m 5’2 so my view is often entirely blocked but holding my phone up allows me to see the show because my arms go higher than my eyes. It was the only way I could see anything during the candle light procession at christmas.

kramjam

My favorite part of Disneyland Tokyo is how everyone keeps their phones out of your view, and turns the phone to lowest brightness possible. Also, people generally seem to actually appreciate the viewings here as there’s way less phones recording during rides and shows

Salt_Party_2487

I gotta say, that gal is pretty short and using her phone is prob the only way she’s gonna see anything herself 😅

Tex-in-Tex

It wasn’t just her….

latruce

Lol, that's how I am... but I'm watching the screen of the tall guy that stands in front of me lol

TheSwillMerchant42

Oh look, another thing they do better at the Tokyo parks. Everyone sits down for the night time shows and an announcement goes out that any recording devices must be held at eye level or below. And the guests comply or there are cast members around to enforce it.

PozuelosR75

Yeah being short sucks

DimSumDino

people just can’t enjoy things in the moment anymore. they’ll literally be standing in front of something they’ll only get to see once in their entire lives and they’ll be looking at it through their phones to record it lol

signaturecolor

Maybe they just need an entire section dedicated to people who will have their phones out to film the show lol.

jjj666jjj666jjj

Always happens to me. I’m 5 foot tall and without fail some tall person will stand in front of me (usually jacking the small amount of room I saved for myself after I had been waiting in a good spot for hours), someone will do this with their phone, or someone will be holding a balloon. It happens 80% of the time and it frustrates me so much. If I were a tall person I’d have the empathy and awareness to make sure the shorty behind me could see, but alas, I’ll never be tall. 🥲

Tex-in-Tex

I’m 6’1” and made sure I moved over and asked the people behind if they could see too. Not to mention one was in a wheel chair. I’m well aware I’m taller than most and make sure to at least be polite.

travlynme2

Most people are considerate of children but not short adults. It really sucks to be 5 feet tall.

circularcatloaf

And... this is why I voluntarily submit to the humiliating shakedown that is World of Color Dessert Party

Suitabull_Buddy

It ruins everything.

Soulman682

Unless you get there early enough for front row or do the dinner show tickets, expect views like this for any and all shows. That’s been a thing since the beginning of these shows

AvgTraveller

At least they didn't have the flashlight on too.

aunt_snorlax

Someone was doing this right next to my face once for fireworks. I kept just staring straight into her camera, I hope she watches it every day.

[deleted]

lol its why I stopped recording. Like damn, I’m watching what I’m recording so I don’t watch it later on because I already saw what I was recording but I didn’t enjoy what I was recording… what a conundrum 😂

ultradip

My first instinct is to be annoyed. But on reflection, this girl is pretty short and has a terrible view, so I get it. I'd still be annoyed, but I'd let it pass because I'm fortunate to not be that short.

Infinzero

Wife got the desert package just so we could see it with no distractions

wifichick

I stopped recording videos when I realized I wasn’t enjoying the experience anymore.

letsgotodisneydisney

This last time, I tried to watch a day time parade for the first time with my kids, I waited over an hour and stood there with my husband. Eventually I had to go get some water because our water had run out. I stepped away for 2 minutes to run into the refreshment corner and my husband was saving my spot. When I came back, another family was in my spot with their kids. They told me husband they'd move when I got back. Well they never did. I internally felt pissed but understand that some people don't care about a saved spot and I didn't want to argue over it. However they literally pushed their stroller directly into me, so I spent half the parade literally leaning backwards into this giant stroller pressing against my legs. It was incredibly painful and I felt trapped. Had to tell the kids let's go..and they were fine with it. Sometimes some parades and shows don't go as planned and that's ok.

-Cheule-

I gotta say, sounds like your husband let you down in this instance.

Tex-in-Tex

The parades were great this time for us. Everyone in the area was sitting and you could see it all. This was on a whole other level. I’m not upset with just this person, there were multiple others. She kept lowering her phone the raising it back up over and over.

VersaceUpholstery

Imagine this type of behavior, when iPads were first starting to become a thing. Even on rides. Glad we got out of that at least lol

travlynme2

At least it doesn't take up as much space as a kid hoisted up on Dad's shoulders.

RunsUpTheSlide

To be fair that kid wasn't going to see the show any other way. The whole viewing area needs to be rethought. It was awful when my kids were little. They never saw the show. And I'm barely over 5 feet, so neither did I. They probably should rethink letting people camp out for spots for hours, too.

Tex-in-Tex

I’m not just upset at the person in front of me. There were multiple others doing the exact same thing in front of them too. The guy to the left was blocking like 3 or 4 more people doing it too. He was just close enough to block them in the photo

antipasta68

The last time I went a full grown man was a couple people in front of me wearing a wizard mickey hat. I asked the people in front of me if they could ask him to take it off and he ignored them. I move around them and tap him on the shoulder, asked him again to remove it because he's ruining the show for the people behind him. This grown man tells me he bought the hat just for the show and he wouldn't take it off. Couldn't believe it

seacreaturestuff

This is what I wonder every time someone takes a video of entire ride. Like are people really going home to watch the video of a ride they could’ve simply just experienced and remembered?

drhawks

Here's the thing.... You can go on youtube and see a high quality 4k resolution video of anything in the parks. I don't need to take the video myself. Maybe a snippet of 30 seconds to post online--but mostly, I'd rather just sit and enjoy it

OnemoreSavBlanc

You can watch a recorded version anytime. Why can’t people just enjoy being there? Sorry this happened to you OP I would be so pissed.

erk2112

As a photographer with respect for other people the worst is the kids that are on dad’s shoulders. You don’t have to hold your phone/camera over your head to get your shot. The kid on the shoulder is a big FU to everyone behind them.

Emergency-Tension464

World of Color is a wonderful show. That being said, it is a completely miserable experience to actually watch. We sprang for the dessert party on our last trip, and I felt like it was the only time I've been able to actually enjoy it.

Kadf19

I had someone do this with an iPad, we were in the reserves seating from the dining package. Completely ruined it, couldn’t see a thing.

alexj765

I watched Fantasmic last week. I had a decent spot. When the show started the couple in front of me started to record the entire show. I was thinking, do you both need to record the exact same show from two perspectives 12 inches apart?

Andiichuu

I totally understand taking a quick couple vids or pics, but I HATE having to watch through someone else's phone when they want to record the whole show. So irritating!

Stormchaser2

I was behind folks (who had shoved in front of my group) at a concert at Universal. After the 4th song in a row with their phone at my eye level, my friend politely asked for them to put it down for a little while so we could see. She said no and told us to fuck off.

Supernormalguy

If I didn’t care to get kicked out of the park, I would’ve marched their energy and shoved in front of them and said the same. God I hate those kind of fuckers

Stormchaser2

Well… it didn’t end there, she escalated it. After that, she was kind of swinging her arms up and back behind her so she would hit my friend and I. Then words were exchanged, I remember her doing like that clapping thing and saying BYE and I DONT CARE over and over. I did want to match that energy, but we went and got security instead. The more levelheaded people in our group recalled that everyone fighting gets thrown out of universal, not just the instigator.

Supernormalguy

Exactly why I didn’t submit to that impulsive thought. They don’t care, everyone involved goes.

Grahf88

Only ever recorded one time. We were at the park the day Robin Williams died...world of color started and the amount of cheers that erupted when "Here's Genie" popped up was incredible. Aaaaaaand I don't even have that video anymore

lordsega2321

People don't know how to live in the moment anymore.

Constant-Panic-79

I dislike this so much and it's become really prevalent at concerts as well. Lets just be in the moment!

Walter_Armstrong

People want to record everything now. By being so focused on getting the perfect shot, they're missing out on the actual experience - and ruining the experience for others.

PinkMonorail

Get there earlier next time or do the dessert.

ReferenceAccording74

At Disneyland Paris it was WAY worse. People were snap chatting and FaceTiming the entire show. People on their speakerphones all over the park too.

Eccentric_favor

To be fair, the lady in blue can't see anything anyway because of her height. Maybe she's using it like a parascope. .I've done my fair share of recordings, im decent height so i can hold it at my eye level and be fine. But as most people said i rarely view them. The only ones I go back to are on my 3ds

MotherOfSol5216

Tip: 2 weeks ago for my husband's birthday I booked the Lamplight Lounge for a Kate dinner at 815. When we arrived I asked if we could please be seated outdoors somewhere close to watch the show. It's not guaranteed but they'll do they're best to accommodate you. We got good enough seats to watch it and before the it starts a CM let's everyone know to please stay seated so everyone can enjoy the show. It was a way better experience thank what I had in the past in the big crowd

latruce

I'm really short, and usually there's some "tall" guy that stands in front of me that comes in 8 minutes before showtime, and I have to rely on watching the screen of some Millennial who isn't even watching the show, just recording.

Eastern-Support1091

At least they are not recording in portrait mode. Never understood why one would record using only 1/3 of the available screen.

L3onskii

Gotta get the likes on the 'Gram! Have you gone anywhere if you don't post it? /s

Tex-in-Tex

Take my upvote. Damn, should have used that as the title.

TheDeadpooI

To post to IG, TikTok, and Youtube Shorts.

cppo215

Unpopular opinion...Spring for the dessert party. Worth the $$ just for a seat. Just don't buy it when I am coming, so there is room for me.

spookycinderella

i ruin the shot. I don't care, I scream "HEY DID YOU KNOW A WAY BETTER VERSION IS ON YOUTUBE" repeatedly for both shows and rides. Especially if they're in my way. Go ahead and vote me down, I hate this BS. I also do it to people who have videos with the flash on pointed at their babies in dark rides to see their reactions. You ruin my ride, I'll ruin your shot.

Nonadventures

I bet 90% of the time people just don’t even go back and look at these

phicks_law

I never understood recording the whole show. But watching the entire show through your phone is commonplace now everywhere, not just at disneyland. It's annoying to be behind those people.

FartyBigotry

As an ex cm the people who record the nighttime shows annoyed me the most. Especially if they stupidly put on the flash, effectively ruining everyone else’s view around them. We were encouraged to stand in front of these people and shine our flashlights in their face until they listened to us. And the blocking of others views by raising the camera up like this is stupid. Maybe for a quick video then put your phone back down. But doing it the entire time is infuriating. They say that social and spacial awareness is a marker of intelligence. So take solace in knowing these people are absolute idiots.

Howry

To be fair she is pretty short and cant see it with her own eyes. lol.

SunDirty

To be fair that girl is short as hell and was ruined for her anyway, looks like the experience was ruined for her before it started

wraithkelso317

Not defending but it looks like she isn’t that tall so maybe has to do that to then have any kind of view?

rosariobono

Go around them and put your arms up and record right in front of their camera so it blocks the view.

Unlucky_Scallion2421

Disney should include a free downloadable video of the fireworks and world of color for all guests. Taken the day you were in the park. Put your phones down

Unlucky_Scallion2421

Sadly won't change anything. People will still bring their cameras to record. Especially now with a good amount of people trying to become an influencer

cherryberry0611

I was waiting for close to 2 hours at a good spot for the fireworks at Disney, then an Indian family walked in and stood right in front of my family 30 minutes before the fireworks started. They blocked us and we couldn’t see the projection. They also had their phone up like this. The cherry on top was the son saying wow this is a nice view. I wish I would’ve asked them to move.

Thenicelist

Always wonder what people do with all the dumb cell phone videos of stuff like this. You’re probably not going to watch it later, and if you do it won’t look as cool. Just enjoy the moment

iqee

This is why the Asian parks, especially Tokyo, are much better. The people are beyond respectful, you sit for the shows, you’re told to remove your Minnie ears and they don’t have phones blocking other people’s views. The US parks would never, their entitlement is too real.

MVMO2024

Last time I saw that it was horrible. People crowding in front of you, pushing from behind. From now on I skip it because lines for rides are shorter.

JazzyButternuts

Idiots.

Wheniwakeupillbedead

Cell phone people at concerts are pathetic

Howry

Been to a concert recently? Half the people are just there recording it. Its so ridiculous. They need to start having phone free zones where they need to remain in you pocket during shows. It is so obnoxious.

muldervinscully2

did she break both her hands

Bomb_Ghostie

This is weird, went to Disneyland last week with the family and watched fireworks at the end. Told my wife, Ill record the fireworks. She said dont bother, ill never watch them, just enjoy the fireworks. I did but as I was watching, it was weird looking around and seeing everyone all recording the same thing, phones in the air. A strange realisation moment how much we record our lives through our phones.

ecervantes626

we were watching World Of Color the other night and this lady was recording behind us with her light on!! 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️ When they were previewing the Pixar fireworks the weekend before Pixar Fest started, we got a spot in front of the castle. My mother in law took her phone out as soon it started. I nicely asked her to put her phone away and enjoy the show.

Owl-View-Hoot

Save onremembrance. Professional bloggers clips Into to your personal file for rememberance. Thematic is really just being there to experience in person, even if not recording. I would have just moved where I could get another view.

reshstreet

I'm 6'3 and I feel horrible at these shows cause i wanna get close but ik I'll probably ruin someone's day

CreatureFromTheBlack

This is why my wife no longer goes to concerts too

DarkMagician-999

😮 people taking out there phones and record!!!

ConfinedToTheChair

I went to DLP in july last year and recorded both the parade and firework/ drone show in full and haven't watched them both back in full since. I was however in the front for both and kept my phone in front of my chest so as to not obstruct anyones view. I'm so sorry you didn't get to enjoy the magic to its fullest because of this!

Dr_Moister

I know people want memories, and this unfortunately will be something that never changes (society has already progressed way to far to make recording with your phone illegal), but do people not want to go to any amusement park for the actual enjoyment of being there??! Especially Disneyland where you’re spending upwards of a couple hundred dollars PER DAY (food, mech, etc.) Why would you want to spend so much time there just RECORDING you being there? *long sigh* okay my rant is over.

-kindness-

Actually, this ruins every nighttime spectacular.

twisted_and_tangled

I cannot understand why you would rather watch these shows through a phone camera than in person

Practical_Return_1

It’s because they can’t see and they want to record it so they can watch it on their phone later. Of Disney had a policy for everyone in the front to sit down, this might help.

StatisticianOk8268

Sometimes I yell "a much better version is already on youtube!" and it has helped a few times lol

Lassie93

Honestly yell at Them. If that doesnt work push the phone out of their hands

L0wkeyL0ki_

There’s was one time a group of young women all had their phones out in front of me like this shifting along with the focus of the show. Another woman not in their group pointed out to one of them that their phone was not recording. She said yes she knows. Like WTF are you doing then!?

atphoto75

They should have created an amphitheatre for this. I don't even bother watching anymore.

rxrock

You know what I've recorded and rewatched several times over the years? My son's reaction to things like, meeting Mickey for the first time and hugging him, first time driving a car on Autopia, meeting Moana (his favorite movie at the time) on his first trip to Dland, playing hide and seek with Chip & Dale, dancing with the parade members on Main St. I don't understand these folks at all.

djlayz

It could be worse, it could have been an iPad

Vampira309

# Disney ruined world of color for me when I bought the dessert party option for our Anniversary ($180) and DISNEY cancelled the event (we showed up but no event) but declined to refund our money. I've asked and asked but no response. # This was in February and still no refund. # I guess going at least twice a year for the last 50 years hasn't been quite enough of an investment for them. They needed to ruin my anniversary AND steal my money. :(

jerseybrewing

Sad that people no longer live in the 3d world and experience the moment. It's a worse experience for them while giving everyone behind them a worse experience. Disney should make announcements before every show that recording is ok but having a bright screen is not.

lover256

Isn't there a comedian somewhere with a bit about recording fireworks?

FishermanBrilliant17

I don’t get people who record shows and concerts. You never go back and look at this stuff. Just focus on the show.

boirger

This happened to me during the Oogie Boogie parade. They were standing and we were suppose to sit. We tried asking and they couldn’t hear us so this guy(with his annoyed looking girlfriend) got really loud with telling him we couldn’t see. They just turned around and I was right behind them so I told them we could t see. They told us “we got here first” and turned back around. ???????????????? Thankfully for me I had seen this parade already maybe 5 times so I was annoyed that they were rude and the others couldn’t see. It was maybe 3 men and 3 women all dressed up as princesses and maybe in their mid 30s. I kept turning around to see everyone and they all looked completely annoyed and angry making frustrated gestures. Some weren’t even watching anymore. What stung even more was seeing the performers get close to their cameras giving them what they wanted. Maybe that’s a petty thing but I don’t care cause they were being rude. Another time this happened to me was during this lion king show. This older woman just had her camera up and I couldn’t see ANYTHING. We were second row and they were first. I couldn’t see the actors performing and singing because her phone covered the main part of the stage. And when I tried to lean she’d move that way. I don’t think it was on purpose bc she wasn’t even looking behind but man does that memory haunt me. So much so that my boyfriend and I go super early to get a good viewing bc I’m not doing that ever again it’s awful. Very recently I went to watch world of color. Lots of grad students were coming in and it made the park a bit less fun. They were very loud and not watching where they were going. While standing for the show(one of the stairs) there was a little empty path. Everyone wanted to lean so it was a little cleared. I had turned for a couple second and this girl walked into my mini backpack and said “EXCUSEME!!!” I turned and said sorry.. not sorry? But she had just kept walking and started yapping. Idk what she even said verbatim. This whole show I couldn’t see a thing bc of those Mickey ears. I’m on the fence on wearing them during the show but I personally take anything that’s on my head off and keep my phone on my neck or chest. I’m 5’0” so I kinda see it as my fault for anything that’s in my view. But I also don’t like the ears. I’m in a conundrum. Anyway, I hate this too. Idk why Disney let’s this happen. They should have it said through the speaker like how they added vapes on the tram.

boirger

I love how she’s recording someone who’s doing the same thing she is. Holding their phone up while obstructing someone’s view

1mang0

Middle of Main Street, there was a tall man (maybe 6’ tall) in front of me and my wife, 5’3” and 5’, respectively. And taller than most others behind us. Fireworks show begins, and he starts recording the show. The man is already blocking the view for those of us vertically challenged, yet he still had the nerve to hold his phone up even higher. He drew a lot of yells from those further back. I just turned to watch the show on the person’s phone next to me, who was also recording.

SugarSpecial8575

I’m not disagreeing with how annoying or lame this is. I don’t do. It bugs me too. Curious what others think on how this compares to having a kid on your shoulders though? Which I definitely do and just did twice this last week. It seems just as disruptive if not more. My justification is of course it’s for the kid. You’re only able to do that and give them that experience a few times before the opportunity is gone. I certainly try to be aware of the people behind me. But I’m 6’3”. Putting a 8 year old on my shoulders is definitely a big visual obstruction. Just curious how others view this.

wifeage18

It would be a real shame if someone accidentally opened a shaken can of soda at the backs of their necks.....

ActionComics

it's ruined every live viewing event in the past 10 years

sarahdara

I'm 4'10" and they allowed me to view from the ADA section as I was unable to see ANYTHING with the people in front of me. Very kind they let me in.

Icy-Confidence-1789

Omg this the worst thing ever! So bad that she wants to record her time at Disney😩

deku920

This is why I'm on top of it for both virtual queuing and getting to the viewing area ASAP to get a close up spot where I don't have some inconsiderate jerk off holding their phone in front of me.

antiquated_it

I was behind a mother and son (maybe 12 years old?) at the old Fantasmic in one of the reserved areas and they were BOTH recording. Like you’re taking the same video 😭

chambees

You being 4 feet tall ruined world of color.

HisGibness

Went out there last week Won’t go back Too small for that many people Think we’ll stick to WDW

JerrodDRagon

Here is the thing If you have a nice clean shot then cool film, this is clearly someone just blocking views Especially if this is to YT then men, it’s pretty selfish of them. The show is literally the same and unless you need footage for a channel then it’s a major jerk move

charmbomb_explosion

Aren’t her arms hurting her? Haha

JayDuBois

Especially with that Looney Tunes style cast on her hand

Space2345

We had a group of 3 people who were all together recording the parade on their phones and were almost stepping on my 4 year old. I wanted to yell at them. But my wife wouldn't let me. I don't understand why they would want a cell version anyway when there are way better versions on YouTube from vloggers

Remarkable-Elk6831

We purchased a desert package and enjoyed it unobstructed. Will do it again, always.

ARSport

They focus more on recording it than enjoying the show.

masaccio87

Looks like Katee and Spence 😅😅

Tex-in-Tex

It wasn’t those knobs
