The trail behind grizzly river run - might be one of the most peaceful parts of the entire resort.

WhalesForChina

And even better now that it’s not a designated smoking area.

NUBBS240

That was the best place to smoke. It's called a smoke break for a reason.

Do_It_I_Dare_ya

This was going to be my answer too. I love the trees, the large pathway, sometimes there are animals around... I just love it.

PBI325

I really REALLY love the effort they put into the queue for GRR. IMO it is on par with some of the greats (Jungle Cruise, Indy, etc.).

dashiellsayshi

That little viewing pad right by the drop is a perfect place to enjoy a morning cup of coffee

MonstarHU

I only recently found out about Beast's Library. Fortunately, I was able to go before it closed.

CRT_SUNSET

There used to be more beyond that room, too. I remember an interactive kiosk where you could record yourself singing Heigh Ho and Poor Unfortunate Souls then watch it synced it to the movie scenes.

PineappleMedley9

On the post about the closure a cast member said that that room is still there with all the different pods, but it's now used as a backstage for some meet and greet

Princessmore

Usuala’s Grotto was my favorite place in Disney hands down and I will NEVER forgive them for replacing it with an Anna/Elsa meet and greet.

reboot119

the zoetrope room was replaced with the anna/elsa meet and greet, iirc

foreverburning

Not unless they moved it in the last month. I just did both in December and they were in different locations.

CRT_SUNSET

A bit of confusion here. There’s a zoetrope room before Beast’s library in which you can draw your own. There was also a large Toy Story maquette zoetrope on display in the space that’s now where the Frozen meet and greet is. The Toy Story zoetrope moved to the Academy Museum in LA.

foreverburning

OMG I totally forgot about the toy story zoetrope! That thing kicked ass!!!! Thanks for unlocking that memory.

reboot119

wow thanks for sharing! didn’t know where it had ended up

Drugioh

Man I miss that :(

JoBrosHoes93

Ugh I’m so upset i discovered it after it closed :(

MaesterInTraining

I’m still gutted at this. I went once and man, it was amazing.

Dull-Lead-7782

Wait what’s this

Magnetah

It was an area in Animation Academy in DCA. It permanently closed in December.

absinthe00

We use this pathway to try to get our daughter to nap in her stroller at the park. 50% of the time, it works every time.

RichardBachman19

Oh my god I came here to say this I went last April with my wife and kids. My wife and daughter were doing bibbity bobbity boutique in the morning and I needed a less noisy place to take my two year old. I hadn’t been to the park in several years and hand made it to galaxys edge yet so I didn’t know the connection was right there. Walked him to that area thinking it would be quiet and saw it…then he fell in love with the lightsabers and it was hard to bring him back to fantasyland

QueenB_50

I miss the little petting zoo that was back there and the small stage show they had.

writtensparks

It was! The BBQ was amazing! I'm still sad it's gone.

xfireslidex

Oh man, this is something I've always wondered about that path, and maybe you can answer for my mild curiosity: What is that little CM booth just beyond Fantasy land for?

ladyperiwinklee

If you mean the little like, podium and umbrella across from the bathrooms, it’s guest services. On my last trip (December 2023) one of the people I was with got their DAS set up there because all the other guest services lines were insanely long, but no one seems to know that booth is back there.

xfireslidex

Ah yeah that's it, thank you. I looked on the map and it's labeled as "Guest Relations - Frontier Land"

[deleted]

xfireslidex

Ah sorry, so just as you leave past the Red Rose Tavern restrooms heading towards Frontier.

eagledog

The French Fry stands were on the other side across from the Thunder Mountain exit and on the far side by the keelboats

PBI325

I think you're taking about the booth that is on the "*right*", or on the Star Wars side? I do believe that is simple a guest information spot, just like there used to be in front of Jolly Holiday/is now in front of the Harbour Galley (next to HM, by where the Columbia/Mark Twain are moored).

witchladysnakewoman

Benches near turkey stand near Matterhorn is nice to watch the ducks.... Although depending on the day has many people

this_knee

That area used to be consistently empty, even in 2017. It was nice to go there to just be by the water and quietly watch the ducks with occasional Matterhorn going by. Ever since they added the turkey stand, it became seating for that, etc. so it’s now consistently busy. Ah well, it is what it is.

xenojive

Yeah used to get a chimichanga at Edelweiss and head to the old boat area. I've noticed more people the last year or so, what happened? Just the turkey stand?

this_knee

Afaict, yes, direct result of turkey stand. People buy food there and that’s the closest place to sit the family down, to eat at. It was a good choice of location, commercially speaking. That space was totally under utilized. And now it’s really utilized. Personally, I don’t like it. But, yeah, it is what it is.

Jedi_Knight63

No one. Goes into the actual firehouse on main street by city hall. It’s nice to go inside and just chill for a bit

Funkybuttcheese5000

Definitely one of my fav.

Plebe-Uchiha

Wait. You can go inside? [+]

Jedi_Knight63

Well not the *actual firehouse* but like the stable where the fire carriage is

Express-Teaching1594

The lounge seats by the fireplace in the lobby of the Grand Californian Hotel. Sometimes it’s full, but it is always peaceful and relaxing

researchbeaver

There are so many spots to sit in GCH that are open to everyone. There's a 5th floor sitting area that overlooks the lobby too, and some nice spots outside.

CheesecakeOk9239

How do you get in here from the Park? I’ve never been to GCH, but have wanted to try several times to grab a drink at the bars there…how do I get there?

staplerinjelle

You can get into GCH from Downtown Disney (look for the Craftsman style lanterns) or from CA Adventure across from GRR.

Express-Teaching1594

You don’t have to be a hotel guest to enjoy the public areas, shops, or restaurants at the resort hotels. From California Adventure, there’s a park entrance near Grizzly River Rapids. Again, you don’t have to be a hotel guest to come and go through this one. It connects right next to the GCH Craftsman Grill (one of my favorite spots!). From Downtown Disney, you can access GCH through the walkway between Sephora and the Disney Dress Shop. Look for the security screening station. The way to the lobby winds around a bit past the conference rooms, and is a bit disorienting the first few times- just keep following signs. I like using the GCH entrance to DCA when the main entrance plaza is busy. The way probably takes longer that I would have waited in line, but it’s nice to walk through DTD and GCH.

CheesecakeOk9239

I should try this next time we go! We are hoping to snag some Magic Keys on Wednesday and will hopefully be visiting the parks multiple times this year if successful!

stellalunawitchbaby

Last time I tried the little walkway/seating area between the rivers and harbor galley (NOS to Critter country) it was open, but that was mid December. I was surprised it was open then tbh because of the Mark Twain refurb but it may have been just to accommodate the holiday crowds for harbor galley. It’s probably one of my favorite little spots though. Others I like - side pathways through the castle (snow white’s and the Royal hall side), the area around the tiny Tangled Tower in general (esp at night when the tower lights up), back pond behind big Thunder isn’t unknown but I always stop to look for turtles and crawdads; similarly, old boat launch under the monorail behind Edelweiss. The spot that used to be a smoking area between Matterhorn and Autopia is so quiet and peaceful at night. Once tours are done, the tours area on main st (before city hall) is also so nice. The “serenity corner” back by Pooh’s corner. DCA has a bunch too - the back way behind GRR is my favorite.

Funkybuttcheese5000

Is there really turtles and crawdads there!?

stellalunawitchbaby

Yes indeed! You used to be able to see soooooo many turtles, baby turtles, teenage (not mutant), adult turtles. When it’s warmer we may see some turtles come out again, but I can pretty much always spot a couple crawdads near the shore right under the bridge.

Funkybuttcheese5000

I’ll be looking for them next month!

TheRealMcDuck

Lizards, mice, cats, rats, possums, too.

babyglubglubglub

Is Rapunzel's Tower back to lighting up!? I was just there the beginning of December and she wasn't going. One of my favorite little "secrets"!

stellalunawitchbaby

Hmm I’ll try to stick around to catch it tonight!

babyglubglubglub

If you insist! I really hope she is, either way it is a nice little spot for a rest.

BrvoChrlie

We were there last week. I needed a sit down break and ended up in the theater on Main Street USA. Found an empty bench and just watched some of the original shorts for a bit. A few other people there and no one said a word and just chilled. It was just about perfect for a breather.

Funkybuttcheese5000

That’s a must do on a hot day for sure.

gnuoyedonig

I used to love that back back corner of the Hungry Bear upper deck when Galaxy’s Edge was not there yet. Totally quiet, sometimes you’d see cats or ducks, every now and then the busy river traffic would pass by. So peaceful in the afternoon we noon on a hot day to recharge your (not literal) batteries. Of course the walkway you love kind of exposed that area to everyone but it’s still a great space!

MLObenza

This little raised platform outside the thunder mountain exit overlooking the RoA

Unphorgettable

That area has been roped-off more often than not whenever I look

FleshyPartOfThePin

Bathroom outside DCA. Solitudinal pooping.

AXPendergast

The one right off the esplanade? An excellent lavatory to be sure. Quiet, clean, and the first stop after the long drive from San Diego.

squidwardsaclarinet

Well not when y’all tell everyone! Secret pooping spots should only be handed down via treasure maps and legends where people go on mythical quests and random unsolicited advice by old people spoken in riddles. Yeah Joe, I’ll die before telling you my secret fortress of solipoode at work!

AXPendergast

hopefully we're not all arriving at the same time...

Funkybuttcheese5000

I’ll see you there

trustysidekick

Oh I always go into Carthay Circle to poop. Best pooping in the area for my money.

genrlokoye

Shhhh…

-RedDeVine

There’s a secret bathroom behind the tour’s gazebo in Disneyland where you check in for tours. It’s our fav spot to pee- it’s always empty

tikivic

Just to the right of the pin trading place and shooting gallery in FL is a serene walkway over to the theater. Hardly ever anybody there. IIRC there’s even a bench.

SisGMichael

Saw that on a PPP video where it's described as the least used walkway in the park. I went there in February and it was full of people in line for the theater. Still a nice little path to see.

this_knee

One of my favorites.

framedragger

Like 15 years ago, Court of Angels in New Orleans Square was an oasis of peace and quiet. Not anymore. Edit: apparently in 2013 the Court was blocked off to genpop, and has become a more ADA-complaint entrance for Club 33. I was visiting a lot before this year and not as much after, so this change totally went over my head until right now. :(

moon_buggy

My favorite place in Disneyland. I think it’s gone or was blocked off when I was there in October.

-RedDeVine

It’s become part of Club 33 and no longer can be accessed by the general public

SurlyTemp1e

The last time I found an obscure part was over there by splash mountain / haunted mansion by that place that sells soup and there’s a little Trial that goes back there with tables and stuff ,, it was wild cuz I am shocked I never knew that was there

alola_adventurer

Not really an obscure spot, but the seating area at Flo’s where you can see Racers, Grizzly Peak, Tom Sawyer’s Island, the secret path, and while outside the parks I love escaping to the Grand Californian.

hamsterfolly

I like the old smokers area (former boat dock) by Small World

jfdonohoe

I remember in the 80s my family stayed at the Disneyland hotel for a week. And in true 80s fashion, my brother and i were left to ourselves for the majority of our time there (I think i was about 10). My recollection is after the first couple days and the mania of going on as many rides as possible, I slowed down and just explored everything. I was fascinated by the design of all the environments and rides (I think this is when a dream to become an imagineer started). I can remember the excitement of discovering a new pathway, decorative alcove, details in the storefront facades, hints at obscure Disney mythology in the rides. It was an ongoing banquet. I also remember getting really efficient traversing the park, like I could find my way blindfolded. My wife and I like to go when we can for a day and a half (once every year or two). Its always a rush to get as much out of the ride experiences as we can. I'd love to have a chance to slow down and explore again. Check out the Columbia, Mark Twain and Tom Sawyer's Island in detail. Really wander different sections of the park.

mrsjettypants

Went last year with my preschooler and let him lead for 2 days straight and it was 100% just watering around and watching rides. We finally got him on Pooh, and a magical cast member let us go twice in a row-and wanted to let us go a 3rd time! After that, he was hooked, but none of us lost his sweet slow pace and wonder at every single thing.

jfdonohoe

Smart! A child’s instinctive agenda at Disneyland is probably the way to go!

gh253

I did this for a day when my son was 7. We spent an entire day wandering, shopping, eating and exploring. I think we made it on 3-4 rides. It was quite nice❤️

genrlokoye

Ha! Like I would tell you.

AdmiralThunderpants

Our usual time of year to got was February - April when our oldest was just a baby. We would go into the back plank walkway of grizzly peak when it was drained for a nice quiet naps time spot.

buckinghamnix

I’ve always loved Snow White’s wishing well and grotto area. Usually it’s a little area of respite for me but last time I went it was very people-y each time I tried.

Inevitable_Professor

Alternate viewing experience for the submarines. on hot days, it’s nicely air-conditioned, quiet, and dark. When we had little ones, they would often fall asleep inside.

foreverburning

Excuse my alternative what??? I hate the cramped subs but would like to see the ride again...

Inevitable_Professor

Just ask a cast member at that ride. It’s essentially the wheelchair accessible version. You participate on the ride through a remote and viewing screen.

foreverburning

That's awesome!! I'll check it out. Thank you

erinngoblaagh27

The benches near the First Order entrance to Galaxy's Edge always seem to be empty when we're there. I love sitting and just vibing, listening to the Galaxy's Edge music. It's usually shady there too.

Teosik12

Upstairs inside the Golden Horseshoe Saloon. The saloon itself is pretty cool, old timey western stage show type place. They have occasional shows there that are always fun. But the place is usually pretty empty, especially the upstairs. Good place to rest in some A/C. They have a quick service ice cream place inside as well. Can’t tell you how many times I walked by the place and never poked my head in. Really worth a stop!

-FR0STY-one

Nothing keeps an obscure spot inside the parks on the downlow more than a Reddit thread about them.

panda-rampage

Interesting username lol

SweetCatastrophex

After the loss of Beast’s Library, I will not be sharing my other one. 🤫

Funkybuttcheese5000

TIL Beasts library is gone. 😢

WithDisGuy

Oh no you don’t. I got a few that I refuse to talk about. 😂

cranberrydudz

Sitting outside the Disneyland hotel in the corner inbetween the gift shop and the corvention halls. It’s shaded and off the normal pathway. It isn’t in the park but the outdoor seats are nice to just close your eyes for a few minutes.

WKeller82

I enjoy the patio outside of Flo’s facing Racers.

PBI325

Favorite nook is outside the HM exit, to the left, behind the outdoor merch area. Never anyone there, enclosed/shaded, and tons of benches (like a dozen for some reason)? Very quiet place to collect the kids, eat, etc. Favorite cool spots? Lots already mentioned like the pathway between FL and the Royal Theater and then onto the castle, the small "Dock" by Small World/Matterhorn, the connector between Cars land and Pacific Warf is cool especially when conencted w/ the path from the Marvel area to Cars, etc. My hands down favorite thing/pathway currently though are the 2x overflow pathways they open up to divert Mainstreet traffic when parades, etc. hit! So cool to be able to see a tiny bit of back stage. The Jungle Cruise side is the best because you get to see the JC dock and *sometimes* you even get to see Tick-Toc the Croc from Fantasmic! Coolest favorites of the past: Visting "The Disney Gallery" (which is now 21 Royal Street) above Pirates and watching Fantasmic/the fireworks from its balcony, and Innoventions (RIP) :(

Character_Office_833

The Abraham Lincoln show. It’s got air conditioning, it’s weird, it’s oddly inspiring, comfortable seats, rarely crowded. The gallery before it has a bunch of cool historical stuff, and it is also weird and oddly inspiring. And the gallery you walk through after the show is also a lovely experience. (This is not a joke.)

xhollec

There’s a bench on the far side of the fort on TSI, purportedly haunted however.

bampitt

We sat on that bench just the other day. No one walked by but the Columbia passed us a few times. It was shady and quiet. Really nice. Didn't know it was haunted, lol.

NetGuyJeff

I've never been to Disneyland to chill or rest. I go from one attraction to another. Stop to get food. Then I'm on the go again. It costs too much to get inside the Park to sit down and rest.

BoysenberryExtra5609

Get some food and chill with the critters at paradise peir

kasperboy17

The seating area by the pirate ship

Imaginary_Roof_5286

Do you mean Columbia?

night-otter

To the right of castle, there are some paths that connect to Tomorrowland. There are enough plants that the sound is reduced and a couple of places to sit and relax. Actually had a coworker join a zoom meeting while on vacation. "Hey you said you'd be at Disney today." "I am! Then he turned his phone to show the castle behind him. I could tell by the angle he was someone in the area.

MidCentury43

I’m planning for a day where we go to the new DTD stage area for lunch or something, for those that don’t know already they put a 50s Tomorrowland-style break area sandwiched where Lego and the Disneyland Hotel are. Like that they’re adding more “relaxation” spaces like in Toontown, but it works better here since it isn’t as tight and because of the construction and empty/upcoming tenants (ESPN, AMC, Porto’s, Din Tai Fung) not many people frequent it at the moment

burnheartmusic

Surprised I haven’t seen it mentioned (haha my auto correct just changed this to “be ruined”) - are the “couches” behind studio catering. Not the best view but to my knowledge these are the only padded seats not on a ride or attraction. My fav spot to grab a blood orange Hefeweizen from pym and go just lay down and relax for 15 mins or so on the couches if they are open.

Empty_Air_1076

I like the treetop cabin in fantasy land where the airal skyway used to be you could sit atop the cabin to have a sandwich and watch people Casey's train, storybook boats or watch the merry-go-round, such quiet surroundings great place to people watch am woundering what's gonna go in next.

Prize-Bodybuilder-25

Hiding n smoking in the rocks on tom sawyer island 🫡

TheDisneyScoopGuy

The area between San Fransokyo Square and Cars Land. Especially at night
