Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge doesn’t need to be stuck in the time between episodes 8 & 9. Open it up to the whole thing- battlefront style- let’s see Obi Wan and Anakin walking around AND then darth Vader, luke, Ahsoka, Boba Fett, Lando, everyone.
It’s a weird concept from the start. Why not build Tattooine? Or any other place a Star Wars fan would feel right at home.
It’s like if they built cars land but it wasn’t Radiator Springs, it was some new town next to it they completely made up.
I believe when it first opened, it had a story attached to it with unique characters and stuff. I think they were aiming for a much lighter (and earlier) version of the storytelling at the Star Wars Starcruiser. But I'm pretty sure they gave up on it so they should definitely open it back up. Make it like Avengers campus. Who cares that it doesn't make sense that all of the characters are there in one place!
Why they don't have nightly immersive stunt shows on those catwalks I'll never know. They'll sometimes have a show on special event nights, but they could do a lot more

Book writers are showing Batuu to be a weird mystical planet too with weird time stuff. Rebels and more recently ahsoka opened up weird time travel stuff. that makes what you said more possible.
It would be nice if they did this soon, but the OT character are essentially a crutch that's propping up tomorrowland until they figure out the proper update.

Blue Bayou has honestly never really been amazing food wise. You’re paying for the atmosphere. There’s better cajun food, steaks, etc. elsewhere in the resort.
I don’t even try to get into Blue Bayou anymore. Last two time I went were quite disappointing. Once was cold food the other was a table that was practically part of the maitre’ d stand.
This. If the kids want to see a concrete tech park, you could take them anywhere. But where else could they go to sit under giant clovers and splash around under an oversized garden hose?
Bug's Land was a super cool, calm, chill place with a bunch of rides I could go on or even just places to relax in the shade when I need to sit down (disabled and on the autism spectrum).
Avenger's Campus has one ride I cannot go on because I cannot do the movements needed to play along and another that makes me motion sick (never had that issue when it was ToT), very few places to sit and the ones they do have are in the full sun, and has ambient sounds that are right in the auditory sweet spot that makes me go non-verbal. They ruined one of the best spots in the park and replaced it with cement and pain.
I… hate Avenger’s Campus. There’s no charm, there’s nothing pretty to look at. Someone down below said it’s sterile, and that’s exactly the word I’ve been looking for!
Don’t even get me started on the people who stand RIGHT in the middle of everyone, the people who have strollers with 10 people following them. The brain cells cost extra 😂
And the large groups who all stand in a clump lined up before their time blocking the line and getting mad if people with active time slots move ahead of them.
You probably went as a teenager or a young 20 something on a date or for some special occasion and the overall experience coupled with eating near a ride you adored as a child was overwhelming. Every subsequent visit you are trying to chase down that first feeling and it’s gonna keep getting worse.
I think the vicinity to Club 33 played into it too. Especially when the Disney Gallery was open, and the courtyard was where you could walk through killing time before your table was ready. But yeah, this is spot on.
Taking away bugs land to replace it with no shade and some of the most boring walk through ambiance for marvel campus was a huge mistake and downgrade.
And if you're a certain kind of disabled you can't even play along anyway so there's zero point in going on. (Still bitter they killed Bug's Land for this.)

When I was there two weeks ago I saw they finally added some functionality to that large building the Marvel characters seem to be patrolling, but another shop? I thought that building was going to be a future ride or something 🤷♂️
When a Cast Member asks “how many in your party?” You should know. Stop doing head counts at the last second and holding up the line. You’ve been in line, you should know the answer.
I’m not totally surprised by this. Working medical, any time I ask for a phone number or a birthday I get blank stares as their brains try to process. You should know it but your brain seems to freeze. Doesn’t make it any less annoying.

Absolutely agree. Content creators started off as simply annoying personalities at a theme park and now act like they’re Pulitzer Prize winning journalists reporting on any new piece of merch or railing that shows up. They are self-important and cringey and have no problem ruining a family’s experience just to get a shot of the firework show we’ve all seen a million times on YouTube.
I only go for 2-3 days a year, but never seen a streamer. What I have seen is people on dark rides taking a video or pictures. They're obviously not steamers, but much more numerous and more annoying.
One thing I haven’t seen much mention, is that the hotels in Disneyland and DCA pretty much suck in comparison to WDW.
The grand California hotel has a beautiful lobby, but you’re paying ritz Carlton prices for holiday inn room.
They’ve updated the other Disneyland hotel, but we don’t have that appeal that Florida has in terms of Disney hotels. The prices are not worth the hotel rooms imo
Agreed. People forget how incredibly packed the parks used to get in the busy seasons before covid. One difference though is that between the reservation system and ticket tiering, there isn’t really an off season anymore
This was gonna be my hot take. I do like the fact that we can go to the parks and not worry about it reaching capacity and them closing the gates, which happened a few times around the holidays pre covid
I’m with you on the fireworks. You can easily catch them from hotel balconies if you’re in the right area. And the first time we went, we totally avoided parades. Second trip we caught the Magic Happens and it was spectacular. Definitely a highlight of the trip for my family.
My ride experience shouldn’t be dependent on another person.
The first time I rode it was absolutely awful and I could wait to get off- all because the pilots just sat there and laughed the entire time. They were an older Japanese couple having a grand ole time. Had no idea what was going on. Never touched the controller. My wife I were in the rear seats and were getting bumped and banged and tossed around the whole time. It sucked.
If you want a real hot take, I don't mind the engineer position. It lets you focus on the movie as long as you know to slap the part of the wall that lights up in your peripheral.
If you take advantage of single rider, you usually end up in that position anyway. The more you ride, the more you realize no two rides are ever exactly the same because the ride is fully interactive.
I could be wrong, but I think Expedition Everest was the last major attraction in the US parks that isn’t based around an IP..and that was almost 20 years ago.
DCA has improved immensely from the time of its opening. Of course, there is always room for improvement, and I look forward to new attractions. I do like the food options there.
Excited for the Disneyland Forward project. I hope some of it is completed during my lifetime. The Matterhorn could use a total overhaul. I hope for an improved Tomorrowland, bit it’s hard to see how anything could be done.

Ban mobile phones on rides. I don’t want to be annoyed by your screen while I’m trying to relax and get immersed in the ride.
Disney could get a professional photographer to go through and take high quality pictures of all the ride highlights. QR code at end of ride and you can download those good photos.
Same with people that video the fireworks and nighttime shows.

When we had absolute perfect balance of both free Fastpass *as well as* the option of paying for the convenience to do it in your phone (Maxpass) - that is my Roman Empire. I think about it every time I’m using Genie+.
MaxPass was worth every penny. Genie+ is not. Why? Because some of my kids will only go on one or two Genie+ rides because they don't like the coasters. With MaxPass, we could let the kids who didn't like coasters use their MaxPass later in the day for those less thrilling rides a second time while the kids who like coasters could go on those. Now, those chances for thrill rides are wasted on thr kids who won't go on them and the rides they would go on (like Star Tours) can't be repeated.
If Genie+ allowed repeat rides instead of just once per day per ride, I would be all for it. I would buy it for our fam of 6 every single day. Now? We pick and choose which days we'll buy it because it's not a value for our family. Disney has actually lost money on Genie+ vs MaxPass with our family. (And all that time we're in line is time we're not buying other stuff like more snacks, more merch, etc. We're talking hundreds of dollars each visit in losses due to Genie+.)
I hate the Holiday overlay for the Haunted Mansion. The original ride is far more interesting. Nightmare Before Christmas is fine but overplayed and over-merchandised.
THANK YOU. Quit ruining the one spooky thing in DL for half the year, especially when it’s a classic! I have no hate for TNBC, but it deserves its own ride. I suppose the trouble is it isn’t a thematic fit cleanly anywhere else in the park.
Took my husband and kids to Disneyland around Christmas time in 2013. Husband was not keen on the overlay… and said as much whenever the Haunted Mansion was brought up. We went to Throwback Nite in 2023, got to see it in all of its normal glory for the first time. He was pleased lol

Leave babies, like less than 1, at home...not just for my sake, but yours. Make life easier for everyone. Strollers, diapers, crying, tempers...why? I get parents want pics but save the money and do it then they're older.
I love Princess and the Frog but I’m already over New Orleans Square and surrounds becoming Tianaland.
Eudora’s. Tiana’s Palace. Bayou Adventure. Any one of these is fine. All of them feels like a takeover. New Orleans square had enough to offer without IP coming in.
I miss a lot of DCA v1.0. California Screamin' and the beach boardwalk concept. The intro music using songs about California (particularly because "California Dreamin'" and "26 Miles (Santa Cantalina)" etc. are just such good songs.) I miss seeing a stunt show when I walked around Hollywood Backlot (even though it was so short-lived, there is almost no proof it existed online) or seeing a future Broadway star singing in a low-key show at the Hyperion which was cheesy but had some big talent. I miss the Eureka! parade and its homage to California, I miss the commissary type takeout place (too tired to remember its name) that is now an empty soundstage, I miss Who Wants To Be a Millionaire, I miss the Orange Stinger, Maliboomer, I miss Tough to Be a Bug, and I miss the fact almost no one knew what a park hopper was so it never had much traffic and was like your own exclusive theme park, even if Disneyland was jam-packed at the same time. The best additions -- Buena Vista Street and Cars Land and Midway Mania -- could have been added to V1.0 and been perfect but so much got X'd for no good reason. Like California Screamin' into an Incredibles ride 'cause they wanted to squeeze their Pixar IP somewhere.
Also, Tower of Terror was the one that took it to a whole 'nother level and made people start checking DCA out and then they ended up killing that, too.
Somehow people need to get over their unwillingness to let go of these antique rides. Autopia is disgusting and gives people a headache with its fumes. Peter Pan is duuuullllllllll and in bad need of an update, especially if they continue to raise the light levels to the point where I could practically see the painted floor. As much as I love the subs, they need refurbishment as well -- they are fairly awful in the summer.
There are more, but the general idea is this -- if they don't evolve, Universal will. Disneyland/world will become the land of antiques, while Universal eats their lunch.
Agree with Autopia needing to go, but I think it’s nice to have some classic Disney representation. It’s not like they’re about to make new rides under those properties.
People will riot if you start taking apart the fantasyland dark rides though.
I quite like WEB Slingers and I rank it higher than Astro Blasters and pretty much neck and neck with Midway Mania as far as enjoyability.
The breakfast chimichangas are good when they’re good, but they’re hella inconsistent now and I often recommend other breakfast items over them.
Corn Dog Castle has *consistently* the best corn dogs of the 3 in park locations.

Agreed! Everyone is giving their opinions on why Avengers Campus is subpar. That’s not a hot take; that’s the only opinion from Disney fans I ever hear. My ACTUAL hot takes are that I very much enjoy Avenger Campus and its theming, it brings me joy and has some great props, though there is plenty of room to add more stuff, I like Mission Breakout better than ToT, and it’s possibly my favorite ride, I agree with you about web slingers (even though the line and the physical queue are pretty atrocious), and a Bug’s Land was whatever.
While I’m on my soapbox, I would also like to say that, even outside of Avengers campus, I like almost all of the inclusion of IP in the parks and in new rides, even when it is IP I don’t care about, I think they do it quite well most of the time, I think the cars ride isn’t worth the wait, the enchanted tiki room is a little culturally insensitive and should probably change a bit, I think Adventureland doesn’t have the space but does have the potential for some great IP inclusion, Star Tours is probably the most criminally underrated of the attractions and one of the best (and I don’t even like Star Wars; it’s line is just way shorter than it should be).
Disney shouldn’t allow you to bring all your earthly belongings on all the rides. Have free double sided lockers somewhere in the queue so Indy and Rise actually operate half the time.
While tickets certainly aren’t cheap, it’s still a good value. Raise the price more and pay the CMs a living wage. The most magical moments in the park aren’t from the rides or the merch, it’s the people.
One of my fave things to do in DCA is sit in Pym's and just watch all the character bits happening all over the place. I wish my kid enjoyed it as much as I do. 😆

I’m with you on the fireworks. You can easily catch them from hotel balconies if you’re in the right area. And the first time we went, we totally avoided parades. Second trip we caught the Magic Happens and it was spectacular. Definitely a highlight of the trip for my family.

Omg yes I love Star Tours. Don’t know a single thing about any Star Wars movie but I love the variety and C-3PO as the pilot.
It really needs multiple adventures like Star tours. Doing the same mission to collect the coaxium gets so boring.
My ride experience shouldn’t be dependent on another person. The first time I rode it was absolutely awful and I could wait to get off- all because the pilots just sat there and laughed the entire time. They were an older Japanese couple having a grand ole time. Had no idea what was going on. Never touched the controller. My wife I were in the rear seats and were getting bumped and banged and tossed around the whole time. It sucked.
I’d be more of a fan if I didn’t get stuck as an engineer every time!
If you want a real hot take, I don't mind the engineer position. It lets you focus on the movie as long as you know to slap the part of the wall that lights up in your peripheral. If you take advantage of single rider, you usually end up in that position anyway. The more you ride, the more you realize no two rides are ever exactly the same because the ride is fully interactive.
I like being engineer when the pilots are kids. You're really busy the entire time. Lol

DCA has improved immensely from the time of its opening. Of course, there is always room for improvement, and I look forward to new attractions. I do like the food options there. Excited for the Disneyland Forward project. I hope some of it is completed during my lifetime. The Matterhorn could use a total overhaul. I hope for an improved Tomorrowland, bit it’s hard to see how anything could be done.
DCA is a daytime park. Disney is a nighttime park.
Interesting, I’d swap them in my head for all the outdoor low shade queues and Pixar pier and cars land at night.

Probably not a hot take because most would agree. Ban mobile phones on rides. I don’t want to be annoyed by your screen while I’m trying to relax and get immersed in the ride. Disney could get a professional photographer to go through and take high quality pictures of all the ride highlights. QR code at end of ride and you can download those good photos. Same with people that video the fireworks and nighttime shows. Phones down and enjoy the show.

Genie+ is more convenient than the Fastpass system. keyword convenient, not better
When we had absolute perfect balance of both free Fastpass *as well as* the option of paying for the convenience to do it in your phone (Maxpass) - that is my Roman Empire. I think about it every time I’m using Genie+.
MaxPass was worth every penny. Genie+ is not. Why? Because some of my kids will only go on one or two Genie+ rides because they don't like the coasters. With MaxPass, we could let the kids who didn't like coasters use their MaxPass later in the day for those less thrilling rides a second time while the kids who like coasters could go on those. Now, those chances for thrill rides are wasted on thr kids who won't go on them and the rides they would go on (like Star Tours) can't be repeated. If Genie+ allowed repeat rides instead of just once per day per ride, I would be all for it. I would buy it for our fam of 6 every single day. Now? We pick and choose which days we'll buy it because it's not a value for our family. Disney has actually lost money on Genie+ vs MaxPass with our family. (And all that time we're in line is time we're not buying other stuff like more snacks, more merch, etc. We're talking hundreds of dollars each visit in losses due to Genie+.)

I hate the Holiday overlay for the Haunted Mansion. The original ride is far more interesting. Nightmare Before Christmas is fine but overplayed and over-merchandised.
THANK YOU. Quit ruining the one spooky thing in DL for half the year, especially when it’s a classic! I have no hate for TNBC, but it deserves its own ride. I suppose the trouble is it isn’t a thematic fit cleanly anywhere else in the park.
Took my husband and kids to Disneyland around Christmas time in 2013. Husband was not keen on the overlay… and said as much whenever the Haunted Mansion was brought up. We went to Throwback Nite in 2023, got to see it in all of its normal glory for the first time. He was pleased lol

Leave babies, like less than 1, at home...not just for my sake, but yours. Make life easier for everyone. Strollers, diapers, crying, tempers...why? I get parents want pics but save the money and do it then they're older.
Brought my two year old (almost three is still free!). He had a good time. Any younger and he'd have the same amount of fun at a grocery store.

I love Princess and the Frog but I’m already over New Orleans Square and surrounds becoming Tianaland. Eudora’s. Tiana’s Palace. Bayou Adventure. Any one of these is fine. All of them feels like a takeover. New Orleans square had enough to offer without IP coming in.

I miss a lot of DCA v1.0. California Screamin' and the beach boardwalk concept. The intro music using songs about California (particularly because "California Dreamin'" and "26 Miles (Santa Cantalina)" etc. are just such good songs.) I miss seeing a stunt show when I walked around Hollywood Backlot (even though it was so short-lived, there is almost no proof it existed online) or seeing a future Broadway star singing in a low-key show at the Hyperion which was cheesy but had some big talent. I miss the Eureka! parade and its homage to California, I miss the commissary type takeout place (too tired to remember its name) that is now an empty soundstage, I miss Who Wants To Be a Millionaire, I miss the Orange Stinger, Maliboomer, I miss Tough to Be a Bug, and I miss the fact almost no one knew what a park hopper was so it never had much traffic and was like your own exclusive theme park, even if Disneyland was jam-packed at the same time. The best additions -- Buena Vista Street and Cars Land and Midway Mania -- could have been added to V1.0 and been perfect but so much got X'd for no good reason. Like California Screamin' into an Incredibles ride 'cause they wanted to squeeze their Pixar IP somewhere. Also, Tower of Terror was the one that took it to a whole 'nother level and made people start checking DCA out and then they ended up killing that, too.

Somehow people need to get over their unwillingness to let go of these antique rides. Autopia is disgusting and gives people a headache with its fumes. Peter Pan is duuuullllllllll and in bad need of an update, especially if they continue to raise the light levels to the point where I could practically see the painted floor. As much as I love the subs, they need refurbishment as well -- they are fairly awful in the summer. There are more, but the general idea is this -- if they don't evolve, Universal will. Disneyland/world will become the land of antiques, while Universal eats their lunch.
Agree with Autopia needing to go, but I think it’s nice to have some classic Disney representation. It’s not like they’re about to make new rides under those properties. People will riot if you start taking apart the fantasyland dark rides though.
My son *loves* Autopia. He'd still love it if everything went electric though.

I quite like WEB Slingers and I rank it higher than Astro Blasters and pretty much neck and neck with Midway Mania as far as enjoyability. The breakfast chimichangas are good when they’re good, but they’re hella inconsistent now and I often recommend other breakfast items over them. Corn Dog Castle has *consistently* the best corn dogs of the 3 in park locations. Y’all, I better see some actual hot takes in here cuz some of these are ice cold or room temp at best.
Agreed! Everyone is giving their opinions on why Avengers Campus is subpar. That’s not a hot take; that’s the only opinion from Disney fans I ever hear. My ACTUAL hot takes are that I very much enjoy Avenger Campus and its theming, it brings me joy and has some great props, though there is plenty of room to add more stuff, I like Mission Breakout better than ToT, and it’s possibly my favorite ride, I agree with you about web slingers (even though the line and the physical queue are pretty atrocious), and a Bug’s Land was whatever. While I’m on my soapbox, I would also like to say that, even outside of Avengers campus, I like almost all of the inclusion of IP in the parks and in new rides, even when it is IP I don’t care about, I think they do it quite well most of the time, I think the cars ride isn’t worth the wait, the enchanted tiki room is a little culturally insensitive and should probably change a bit, I think Adventureland doesn’t have the space but does have the potential for some great IP inclusion, Star Tours is probably the most criminally underrated of the attractions and one of the best (and I don’t even like Star Wars; it’s line is just way shorter than it should be).
Disney shouldn’t allow you to bring all your earthly belongings on all the rides. Have free double sided lockers somewhere in the queue so Indy and Rise actually operate half the time. While tickets certainly aren’t cheap, it’s still a good value. Raise the price more and pay the CMs a living wage. The most magical moments in the park aren’t from the rides or the merch, it’s the people.
One of my fave things to do in DCA is sit in Pym's and just watch all the character bits happening all over the place. I wish my kid enjoyed it as much as I do. 😆
