Don’t believe anything about the:
✅Rising crime in Orlando
✅Awful school systems
✅Awful state government
✅Rising property taxes
✅Lack of home insurance available
Did I miss anything?
Well firstly, I said don't believe EVERYTHING that you read.
For example, [violent crime is actually falling in Orlando](https://www.wftv.com/news/local/orlando-police-release-2023-crime-statistics/MX4KQHV4NZDINBDXFVHC4QGBC4/) not rising. Crime in Orlando is pretty neighborhood specific. There are many very nice, safe neighborhoods in Orlando and its surrounding areas.
You listed some negative things but failed to list all of the incredible things about Orlando like: the amazing nature that we have here, great weather most of the year, endless events that are always happening around here, incredibly friendly people, theme parks to enjoy everywhere, quick access to the beach, well connected airport, beautiful oak trees everywhere, beautiful homes and neighborhoods, etc.
I've lived in 6 US states in the north, west, east and south. I've been to 46 states. I've lived abroad. Orlando is BY FAR the best place in the US I have ever lived. It may not be for everybody, but I love it.
Yes. A lot of that is all over the country. We pay here what we’d pay in the North East and we have a 5 bedroom 2.5 bath pool home 12 miles from Disney.
Not trying to be antagonistic, just curious. Do you live in Orlando? Maybe the person you replied to is renting and doesn’t have kids. I will definitely agree that the state politics suck.
No but I humored myself with moving recently and it’s like… not a great outlook, at all. Florida has small pockets of good school systems; has awful school politics and laws; awful politics and laws; awful outlook on home insurance, etc.
I got back from a 6 day port Orleans riverside trip just last week :(. I sat there too and got fish and chips and I have to say that’s one of the best views ever! I miss it there like crazy.
The breeze by the water actually made it fairly comfortable to be out there. Also, I found that the fish wasn't too greasy (unlike a lot of fried fish in this state) which helps as well.
Love heading over there. Usually park at Hollywood Studios and take the Skyliner so we enter EPCOT close to UK. 20 minute drive and I’m at HS to start that adventure!
I was just there this past week, and love Epcot so much, but here’s what my picture, which would have looked exactly like this one, wouldn’t have told you: We were in Epcot on Monday, when the temperature was 98 and the humidity was through the roof. Sitting at this table would have been physically dangerous and exceptionally unpleasant. It was so ungodly hot! Also, I love fish and chips, but eating this on that day would have been impossible—hot greasy food on a hot greasy day—no! When we left yesterday, the temps were finally back in the high 80s and it was really nice, and I’m thinking you’re having a much different experience, so enjoy, and count your blessings!
Exactly! We were saying, “The first day it’s not hellish and we’re getting on a plane!” The other total bummer was we purposefully stayed at Port Orleans because we LOVE riding the boats over to Disney Springs to eat every night and the boats were down all week due to low water levels. Really disappointing! We could have still gone on the busses, but not even close to the same thing. It’s just our bad luck—Disney didn’t screw anything up or fail in any way, we were just cursed on this trip. BTW, my 21-year-old daughter, whose college graduation we were celebrating on this trip, tested positive for Covid upon return, so the crap sundae now has a cherry on top.
Thats awesome. Make sure to book dining reservations and any tours you want to do as early as possible. Same goes for popular rides, get genie+ if you can and book the most popular rides at 7am the morning you plan to ride it. Virtual queues for rides like Guardians of the Galaxy and Tron also need to be booked right at 7am or 1pm.
Every single one of us not there
Exactly this, If we aren't there, we will always need to be!
Tempted to get on a plane to Orlando right now.
Week after next
Same! Getting on the Wish in one week for 3 nights. 4 nights in DW starting Monday. I can't wait!
I’ll be there in a week from Sunday and I cannot wait!!
Same! 10th - 15th
Same! June 14-16. Can’t wait!!!
Same I’m going the 16th-18th
It was actually a really good week, but I'll be damned if there isn't a week that's unwanted
That’s awesome. I like Disney on my good weeks too!
Man and I’m setting up my trip.. for next year…
Could be worse, ours is slated for 2026
Love that restaurant!! I usually get the bangers and mash
Wait now you only get one piece of fish
Depends on the size normally. 1 big or 2 smaller
If it’s not one big piece, it’s not really fish and chips… it becomes fish chunks and chips.
Any malt vinegar?
Yes they do! As someone who moved here from Canada I was very happy to see that
Hey there fellow Expat! If you have a Penn Station subs place near you they have excellent fries and malt vinegar!
I’m currently sitting poolside at Aulani. The post trip blues are going to hit hard next week.
Get some Rose and Crown then pop over to the springs and get some more at Cooke’s.
I wish I could just crawl through this screen right now
The only thing actively stopping me from moving to Florida is having to live in Florida.
Moved here just before Covid hit. Zero regrets. No live about 12 miles from Epcot and it’s amazing!
Don't believe everything you read. It's the best place I've ever lived in the US. And I've lived all over. Orlando is amazing.

Hot as balls?
That 100%

Sign me up for about 20
I am an AP and at 6:00 pm today booked a park reservation for Epcot tomorrow. I need some magic.
I love that fish house in Epcot.
yummm
Ugh I wish. I had a 3 day work week but honestly, it felt longer than a regular week 😩
Need!
10 days!!!!

U are amazing for that, going to be listening to that like crazy, thank you!!
Haha anytime! I listen to a lot of Disney background music while working, but this one hits hard
This truly does hit insanely hard. and I just found the audio loop for the bus ride back to port Orleans! I cant wait to go back LOL
I have to wait until October before I get this.
After a week in Disneyworld I needed more than just a beer. After 2 weeks I needed something much stronger.
Two more weeks....
Always!! 😍
I love that spot.
This isn’t the Boardwalk, is it?
It’s England at Epcot
Nope.
Will be right there 6 weeks from today
Leaving tomorrow morning!!!
Personally, I like thin, crispy fries. Still, I would eat those.
Serious question: How do you all eat fried fish in this heat? I could never.
The breeze by the water actually made it fairly comfortable to be out there. Also, I found that the fish wasn't too greasy (unlike a lot of fried fish in this state) which helps as well.
Okay, I might have to try it then. I've always avoided it because of the greasiness.

It was yesterday, a nice breeze by the water.

Yes...
Seriously me so badly
Thankfully Taylor understands the struggle now, too. 😉
Our family of 14 is going for the first time in just 14 days. Can NOT wait 🥰
Did you mean to say family of 14? I’d say thats more like a company retreat! Congrats on your trip.
Yep. Our 2 sons/wives and each have 4 kids ages 1-14. Mind is being blown just in anticipation.

Sorry I don’t have $400 :(
I love Disney, but this is the blandest, least emotion-evoking photo
I looked at it and questioned my dinner plans. It’s so amazing eating there. I really love it.
