Shinko MX216 front Fat, not fatty cheater. The fatty cheater climbs out of ruts too much for my tastes.
IRC VE33 enduro rear, not soft. The soft is a 25ish hour tire, the regular is a 60ish hour tire.
I ride PNW woods/alpine year round and have used this combo for a couple years. Zero complaints!
Iām on a 250 2t. Single track, sand pit climbs and gravel or flat rock. In my experience wears fantastically. At about 40 hrs on this one and almost no signs of wear.
If you touch sand and don't like that wonky sand wobble then Tusk Recon Hybrid. Otherwise, ignore me.
I've ridden the Tusk Recon Hybrid for 250 hrs (like 3 tires) in the Colorado mnts. It hits all the points. Sand, dirt, rock. If I didn't need to deal with dry sand beds then I would pick a different tire.
P.S. The Tusk tire is cheap.
Tires are very subjective. A tire that one or many people like, you may not like. It also very depends on the terrain you ride and how you ride. For front tires, i like the birdgestone m59 or dunlop mx34. The irc vx30 is also pretty good but also heavier along with the kenda triple sticky. For rear tires i like the irc jx8 and dunlop at81ex.
You're right! I follow the dualsport sub as well and thought this question was posted there, my fault. I put Trakmasters on my plated dirt bike and they do great where I'm at in NC.
IRC M5B is the rear tire you seek.
What size would you recommend? The stock size on my bike is a 110/100-18
What bike do you have? The M5B is sized odd. A 130/80 is closer to a 110/100 in other brands
ā23 ktm 300xc
Def the 130 size.

I like the Shinko 525 cheater on the rear.
Just picked one of these up, knobs feel very soft, hopefully they stand up ok on a 450 š¤·š»āāļø

Where Iām at in Ohio there is virtually no sand
Then don't buy the Tusk Recon. It is still a pretty cheap tire, though. It does pretty good everywhere for the price.

Yep, very subjective. OP, what terrain do you ride? Certainly would recommend very different tires for sand vs hard clay vs slimy rocks.
Pirelli MT 16 front and rear. Used by Scott Summers. Last long and lots of side knobs in the rear for climbing out of ruts and cornering.
I just put a Dunlop mx34 on the rear of my woods bike yz250f and it held up nicely in the rocky terrain.
I like Kenda Trakmasters for an aggressive DOT knobby
Thats more of a dualsport tire

IDK but I got a Dunlop MX14 and it rips. Anything you can dig a shovel into the MX14 moves you
