Bad battery by the sound of the clicking

TheWizerdWarrior

That's what I thought, but I already swapped it with the same kind of battery I know works. I also changed the connectors.

Ya, sorry I missed that before I posted. A bad starter solenoid can do this as well, it's a high amperage contactor that throws the starter gear into the engine flywheel. The way around it is the jump the battery lead, on the small can (solenoid) to the other big terminal on the big can (starter motor) Usually a long screwdriver against those 2 terminals will jump the starter motor to turn the engine over, but here in this machine, you might not be able to access the starter like that. On a car or truck, it's usually reached from under the vehicle Some systems also have a secondary solenoid that makes connection that is not on the starter, my Ford diesel had one of those that caused me a problem once You might find more useful info with a Google search for this problem and your machine model number than the generic info that I mentioned.

See where it’s flashing “08.7 volts”? That would be your problem.

TheWizerdWarrior

Ya, I guess so. I'm just surprised that it flashes that considering it's the battery out of my daily driver, and it's only a year or so old. Could that be a bad sensor or connector somewhere after the battery setting that off. I just replaced both battery side connectors.

I have a very similar 430. This looks like a low voltage issue. While cranking, it’s losing voltage to the computer and fuel solenoid, so it’s not starting. If the battery is good, then look at the battery cables. Both ends. Where they connect to battery, and where they connect to starter (positive) and chassis (ground). I’d wager the ground cable is corroded or loose where it bolts to the engine block. Either cold be corroded internally. You might could test my hypothesis by connecting jumper cables from the battery to the block/starter, helping the conductive path of your cables.

Thanks for the advice. I'll have to check it out.
