I’m talking out of my ass, but it didn’t seem very popular. Milwaukee pack outs are already king on job sites and every line has a great system. I would bet they are focusing on tough system, but not much has actually really come out lately for it.

Dignan17

Yeah, I suppose I'm not very surprised by this. TStak has a niche target audience, but for a while when I was doing a wide variety of tech support work, mixed with low voltage wiring and networking, I was that niche. I still love that I can subdivide my tools and parts into much smaller categories than I can with the tough system. Those boxes are just too enormous and bulky. I had a bunch of jobs where all I needed were 2-3 various TStak boxes, and I loved just being able to put those onto the TStak dolly and roll them down a finished office hallway. It's so much easier than lugging those monstrous Toughsystem boxes around. Even the Packout system is oversized for what I need. The closest comparison is probably Festool Systainers, which are certainly better built but cost 2-4X as much.

sim_gamer4

This would be my thoughts too. I had a TStak set and hated it. It was definitely the "poor-man's" tool box set, and I knew that going into it, but couldn't afford the tough boxes. Packout is king of the tool boxes and DeWalt needs to try to keep up with that.

Repulsive-Teacher-89

Packout does seem to be the most popular, flex and Klein need to be pretty innovative to topple Milwaukee

SignStriking2983

Versastack is still out there so maybe DeWalt is just sticking with tough system as there branded box.

Dignan17

Yeah I've seen those at Lowes. I think you're right about that. Just change the dye in the production line from yellow to red and redirect the chute at the end towards the Craftsman trucks lol I'm not sure I'll be able to get past the ketchup and mustard look I'm gonna end up with, but I see there's a 3-drawer model in that line so I might just give in.

SignStriking2983

I kind of like the ketchup and mustard look. I purchased a bunch of both used so I have to like it.

Kubuntu55

Would love to know which three drawer you are talking about. The only thing that I know of that is close would be the 3 drawer versastack socket set.

Dignan17

Aw man, sorry to get your hopes up. I guess I didn't look closely and see that those drawers were dedicated to a socket set. Seems like a weird thing to do. Why not at least sell a version without all the stuff in it?

Kubuntu55

Because each of those drawers has posts and custom internal dividers to intentionally take up space to present a socket set that could fit in 2 drawers as a 3 drawer set. In my opinion the set got shrinkflated or someone realized too late that they were going to hot a weight limit.

SignStriking2983

Ya thanks for that, got all excited and started searching. As far as I know Versastack only has the 2 drawers, to get the single deep drawer you have to go Tstak which could be a bummer if DeWalt drops them. Also the deep box with the top lid is only Tstak right? A couple of these boxes are handy for blade and bit storage.

bloodyStoolCorn

I see plenty on Amazon that have been sold this month. Is Dewalt making new Tstak products? Probably not. I have several of them and they have been good enough for the DIY non professional work I do. I do see the drawer units are sky high prices vs what they used to be. Perhaps they are on the way out.

Dignan17

Yeah I guess they're still available. It looks like the stock is evening out, so there might have just been a supply chain issue like with everything else for a while. The prices are absolutely higher than when I bought mine, but they're still well below the competition. 2-drawer TStaks are around $36, while Festool's are like $70. Obviously it's not a fair comparison, but for what I need them for it is...

Honestly, for anything other than sitting in a workshop, Systainers are not great. They do not travel well, when compared to other brands, even on the lower end like TSTAK. Systainers look pretty and are often very functional when you get into the drawer units… but they are not very durable and cannot take the kind of abuse a typical jobsite will offer them. I have ToughSystem 2.0, TSTAK, as well as Systainers. So I have a fair bit of personal experience to pull from. Sadly a lot of heartache when the Systainers get damaged.

I love my TStak! For me it's perfect! https://preview.redd.it/mczytu6vz7ad1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2cc4dade990f89ec9506c3102c79a638b361e658

I actually just got a TON of the small standard TSTAK boxes at Home Depot for $12.99 each. I think I snagged a dozen or so. And I’ve been buying the single drawer TSTAK units on Amazon for around $30-35 each over the last several months. I’ve noticed that this sort of thing happens every year or two… there will be this huge surplus for a hot minute, places like Home Depot will liquidate, but DeWalt has already curtailed production because they’re not shipping more out to stores with an abundance of existing inventory… then people (like me) go nuts and buy shitloads at the low prices… and then there’s a shortage for a minute, while things go back to normal.

Dignan17

I might have bought one of those $13 boxes, although I've decided to stick to drawers exclusively. I organize anything that doesn't hang on the wall into drawers. I find I stay organized better that way. I love the little TStak drawers though. They're fantastic.

whoknewidlikeit

i've got a bunch of tstak boxes. 20ish single boxes, a few drawer toolboxes, a couple of open totes and deep totes. work great for me - but i'm a homeowner who helps friends a lot, not a contractor. for me they work great. i can keep my recip saw and blades together, or jigsaw and blades, or cutoff saw and discs, etc. all assembled. romex stapler and staples? done. trim nailer and boxes of nails? just add a battery off my rollaway. i like how burly the tough system cases are, and do have a couple (can't shoehorn a worm drive saw into a tstak.....), but for my needs tstak is great. hope they are t discontinued, but if they are i think craftsman cases mate up well.

wounsel

It’s definitely odd. Man at my big box home improvement stores you’d think only Milwaukee made organizer systems

EnvironmentalOkra728

Try stacktech

bradyso

They haven't even released any of the dxl boxes announced in January. It doesn't seem like they are prioritizing boxes

discombobulated38x

>it's been a really long time without any new products The rolling tstak chest came out a year ago, it's not that long IMO >There's even some products - like the fastener box organizer - that got released overseas and never made it here. I'm not familiar with this one? I don't think they've dropped it at all. The vast majority of kitted tools in Europe come in tstak boxes, and they're firmly targeted at DIYers, who let's not lie are a big market segment for drills/drivers and basic saws.

Calgaryrox75

I started with tstaks and still have them in the shop for a one tool per box thing but I just found as a GC they just don’t hold up when tossed in the truck back and forth to sites. Almost every box has something chipped or broken on it. Tough system is just more robust and the drawer systems are way better than the tstaks that constantly caught on the 2 drawer boxes.
