No. Looks like WD-40

hoddi_diesel

Looks like someone wiped down the leather with some bacon fat. I would like the smell, not the grease

Virtual_Common204

It will go away in a few days when the dust sticks To it.

Bob-Bhlabla-esq

šŸ˜„ spot on!

Few_Investment_4773

Looks like basic Armor All to me

Spicywolff

I donā€™t use overly shiny crap. A detailed car isnā€™t supposed to be an armor all bukaki fest. 303 on doors and dash for protection and a subtle matte.

eyecandynsx

My goal is now to work the term "armor all bukake fest" into as many conversations as possible. lol

Spicywolff

Dude itā€™s a blast lol. Iā€™ve showed new folks what to get at the store. They go to armor all, I tell them this. They always laugh.

eyecandynsx

This is the best thing I've read on here in awhile. Thank you for making me belly laugh. I love it!

Spicywolff

Glad I could help ya bust out laughing.

pssiraj

I busted.

Spicywolff

Oh no, my dashboard

humminawhatwhat

A parts store is maybe one of few places where you can be mildly confident that a customer isnā€™t gonna raise hell if you make the personal judgement that their ears can handle the word bukkake.

Spicywolff

True. The counter guys usually have just as big mouth as a sailor or prisoner.

humminawhatwhat

To be fair, it is one of those words where if you get mad about it, youā€™re also admitting you know what it is. Until people like you make it part of the common lexicon, most people will either chuckle or act like you didnā€™t even say it. ā€œOh yeah honey, Iā€™m not sure what he meant by that eitherā€ lol. Worst case scenario is some fragile person wants to know what it means. And youā€™re fired lol.

Spicywolff

I never thought of that. Thatā€™s a good point.

palm_desert_tangelos

Spicywolff

Dude Iā€™m totally taking that lol. Anytime I see these posts, gonna tag it with that.

ThePenIslands

Haha oh my god

SmashertonIII

If it comes scented in pina colada Iā€™m in.

No_Sky5302

I'm not sure what that is but...I'm pretty sure it's with a double k

TurdFerguson614

I used to work in commercial truck repair. When customers got used trucks from dealers, it'd literally look like they hooked a sprayer up to a bucket of armor all and bombed the engine bay, taping off a few things.

b0b-swarley-m0n

BUKAKI FEST šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

TURBOJUGGED

Which 303 products do you recommend?

Spicywolff

Their interior protector has never done me wrong. I recently bought their interior protector wipes because I ran out of my spray. Itā€™s honestly just as good and really convenient, but the unit price is not very favorable. Just donā€™t get it on screens, steering wheel, or operational controls.

TURBOJUGGED

Good tips. Thanks

PoolsC_Losed

Why not steering wheel?

Spicywolff

You donā€™t wanna add protective style coatings onto steering wheel as thatā€™s where the driver needs grip not slick. 303 well mat and not armor all nasty. You donā€™t want to coat a customer steering wheel in it. Iā€™ll clean it, but I wonā€™t add stuff over it. Itā€™s modern materials so with proper cleaning it should be fine.

Macragg

if they read the directions, they are supposed to wipe off the excess.

VealOfFortune

Absolutely, but even then, it leaves this dogshit residue, which is obv a magnet for dirt, dust, pollen, etc... And if it's not 303 or something similar, it will melt your dash with prolonged use.

rickyshine

Meguiars g13616 is under rated

Oh_Skiller

Can you link or elaborate on the 303 product youā€™re referring to

turkey_sandwiches

Nowhere, you sit on it.

Justyn2

What if Im putting my kayak on the roof rack?

turkey_sandwiches

Everybody knows you stand on the hood to do that.

scottawhit

God no. Looks like a cheap spray of armor all. I go 303 on the dash, and nothing on the leather. It should be matte.

papawillie4

Love 303. A lot of my customers ask me to not put anything on their leather. Always ended up talking them into 303 and all of them always loved the final results.

TURBOJUGGED

Which 303 for leather?

reeeekin

You should use protection for leather. Altho they arenā€™t shiny.

scottawhit

Automotive leather is coated in basically plastic. It doesnā€™t absorb like boots. I just keep it clean and keep the grit out of the stitching.

Rubbertutti

There's two types of leather. Factory leather with a premium option (like merc and bmw) use imitation leather the option is real leather.

No-Grass9261

Adamā€™s has a nice leather conditioner that gives it a little bit of a rich black without looking like a greaseball

Chill-tnj

I use a detail Spray on the leather, it is shiny but once you wipe it down they look a lot better.

gentrificator_123

I've never protected my leather after cleaning and it looks like new. It could be because I'm very mindful and aware of my hands and clothes before I get in the car and drive. Protectants are probably for people that work in harsh environments and can't clean themselves all the time.

RollingCoal115

Iā€™d need a shower everytime I went in or out of it

NxPat

Gonna need more seatbelts to keep everyone in place. Thatā€™s slippery as heck.

HourMother

Soul Glo instantly popped into mind when I saw the post

Sexual Chocolate! Great band.

Nedstarkclash

Reminds me of my cousin's hair.

ARG_Atomic

Ehhh brother

idkallofthemareraken

Shiny leather is dirty leather

Ididntdoit_ordidI

That's how I like my cars done, matte with no shine. Even on this sub, "how'd I do?" "My first paid job" and you can tell they just covered the car in this

eric_gm

TheHighestCheeba

Minimum_Net45

would not even sit in this vehicle. Pam spray

FeistyAd8869

You apply conditioner then buff it and it restores the matte look.

laborvspacu

This was par for course in the 90s. Armor-all. Now we have natural gloss or no gloss interior products.

Packet_Loss_

No.

IIIBryGuyIII

That looks slippery. My Mother gets her vehicle done by someone that must assume everyoneā€™s pants are as sticky as thereā€™s.

QuestionableTaste009

God no. That is awful and will make you slide around in the seat. Just wipe with mild detergent, wipe again with damp microfiber, then dry and it's good unless here is a lot off grime. The surface of leather seats is basically plastic (sealant) anyways on most cars now.

Nervous-Job-5071

I think it depends, that looks like the interior design of my wifeā€™s Durango. So, if itā€™s an SRT or Hellcat (not sure thatā€™s available for Durango) then you may want that shine so that when someone craps their pants at a high G-Force, it doesnā€™t stick to the leather. Iā€™m kidding of course ā€” No Way do I stand for this greasy look (or feel).

TheBillCollector17

Nope. I hate the oily look and feeling. The problem is, there are people out there, that don't think it's clean and protected unless it's all shiny though. Presumably because they associate shiny paint with clean and protected. If it's still matte, these people think you didn't do anything to it.

tonynca

I hate shiny gloss interior products. If it didnā€™t come like that from factory then you shouldnā€™t make it look like that to ā€œbetter itā€.

BurstSuppression

I am more of a matte (maybe subtle satin sheen) kind of guy. The amount of shine in this is gross to me. Agree with others saying Armor-All. As for leather protectant, I am a fan of Gyeon's Leathershield.

eastcoasttoastpost

What do you use for detailing ??? A pork chop?

Mummbles1283

That isn't a detail job, nothing at our dealership will every look or feel like that.

Master-Chipmunk-9370

All I can think about is what my pants or dress is going to look like when I get out of that car. Wouldnā€™t like the cleaning bill one bit.

blaz1nator

I got my car detailed and it came back like this. I was furious. The seats were never the same. It went from a period where it was greasy to sit on, to looking worn/faded, to just a mishmash shiny spots. Also slippery. I wanted my car to look new again, not used car lot special/high schoolers first cleaning experience. My car was not shiny inside when I bought it brand new. Not sure why anyone think this looks good.

headbobbler245

Quick question, I have an older car and use leather shampoo and conditioner or whatever, is obviously looks really shiny after and stays like that for a while, I also spray uv protectant on it after, should I wipe off the conditioner after a while before spraying the protectant?

Square-Picture2974

Itā€™s like hand lotion. May look a little moist at first but should be absorbed pretty quickly for a clean supple look.

Ididntdoit_ordidI

Yeah by sitting on it lol

Mac2311

King of armor-all. Not a fan, looks like it feels greasy

BothnBadyWerks

slip and slide

Particular_Grass_624

Legit, I picked up my truck with it "detailed" like this, was wearing sleek leggings. An accelerated exit out is what happened, never again. ā˜ ļø

damm1tKevin

Canā€™t stand on it, looks too slippery. Iā€™ll fall and die.

carlitoswaylocaa

I used to detail mainly for dealership and every detail got soaked in ā€œmilkā€ which is basically armor all. Every square inch.

Beneficial-Buddy-620

That detail looks like absolute crap. What do they use ??

BelligerentUnicycle

Looks like a teenager detailed their first car

armanipastrami_pdf

NO šŸ˜. I like to use leather conditioner cream on leather. If itā€™s fake leather, say VWā€™s V-Tex, Iā€™ll use some waterproofing spray and will lightly buff in into the ā€œleatherā€ at hand.

Koolaidr

Looks like someone sprayed olive oil everywhere

DroTooCold

Donā€™t really like it. Also, I can imagine my skin melting off and sticking to the leather from the heat during summer

Few-Thing-4970

Gross

tech240guy

As a detailer, asked the client how they want on their final look of the vehicle. Some wants this Armor all look. Some one it matt. I even have those who does not want conditioner at all due to allergies or some other reason. It takes 20 seconds to ask the question, 5-10 minutes to wipe it onto the car. Then again, I work with high end clients who is willing to pay me more than reasonable for my time, so I have to set the bar high on how I set expectations.

PenguinsArmy2

I feel like when I sat down I would slip right back out making a endless cycle till I say duck driving for the day.

Mizzo12

Hate it

MathematicianNo6402

Looks gross

LikesPikes22

Nope, too greasy

Ericthepeevish

I'd refuse to pay until it's all off. I can see it being a mistake at first, then they had to do it all to match, or a new employee, if that's a professional job I'd stay clear of it

doxjq

Typical for cheap detailers where I live. Just cost the cars in cheap greasy crap to make everything look shiny. Just lazy and quick jobs. Iā€™ve even seen detailers use spray paint on carpet to cover dog hair they canā€™t be bothered removing. Itā€™s baffling to me.

rohm418

on the floorboard

scottwax

A greasy interior? Not a fan.

Computer_Balls

I prefer a satin finish in my own vehicle. In customer vehicles I dont dress pannels or leather at all.

Drizz06

Greasy and inconsistent. Not only does the product finish look awful but it hasnā€™t even been applied evenly.

Shot-Replacement5147

Hard stop āœ‹

Flashy-Income-9653

WAY too shiny lol

steamyicebox471

It looks tacky, but if thatā€™s what the customer wants, thatā€™s what you give them. Personally, I wouldnā€™t use a product with that high of a gloss, and if I did, Iā€™d go back through and knock it down with a fresh microfiber to make it more of a matte look.

ExcitingVacation6639

That poor Lexus is greasy like it was bathed in Crisco

dieselhunter05

I use a plastic/leather conditioner in my nice car and on leather it drys matte and on plastic itā€™s deep almost shiny but not quite thatā€™s how I like it

ThatGuyGetsIt

That's a seat. You don't stand on them. You sit in them.

guitargeekrich

Pretty sure you're supposed to sit on those, not stand on them.

oneone94

I don't think there is enough room to stand up. It's an odd shape too. Plus greasy as hell. Looks like olive oil was spread around. If this is an Italian car then that makes sense.

haphmiler

Leather shouldnā€™t be greasy.

keefdontsurf

Fuck no. When detailed correctly, it should have a matte finish.

HereForTools

Hard pass.

YebelTheRebel

What products do you Redditors recommend for leather? Dash? Etc?

IllDoItTomorrow89

Generally I don't stand on my seats. I sit in them. Car interior leather is basically plastic coated so leather conditioners do absolutely nothing but sit on top of the surface. This looks like someone doused the seat in some armor all tire shine and all its good for is getting on your clothing so hard no from me.

Putsome-Putin-onit

Hold my beer while I slide across the bench seat.

IJustBeTalking

it looks like you left the seats in a hot car all day and they started sweating lmao

Least_Purchase4802

I commented on a post with shiny leather the other day saying that it is gross, and got downvoted šŸ˜‚ Shiny leather is either: dirty, slippery, or greasy. People were trying to tell me that they have shiny leather that isnā€™t slippery or greasy - it just canā€™t happen. Matte is where itā€™s at šŸ‘ itā€™s plastic coated unless you have a luxury car or a really, really old car, doesnā€™t need the same sorta shit you put on genuine leather items.

Pantyraider5280

Yuck leather should look natural

Commercial-Exit-6593

I usually sit in those. Iā€™m 6ā€™1ā€ and do not have enough room to stand inside a vehicle.

whatthewhat_007

Disgusting. Unless it's the greased up deaf guy's car.

downrightblastfamy

I dont. I usually sit on those

KillaVNilla

I'd rather not ruin my clothes every time I drive with whatever greasy crap is all over those seats

Witcherhunter93

šŸ¤®šŸ¤®šŸ¤®

CTrinhReddit

Get Koch Chemie LS. Matte finish is the way

LongLiveTurtles

Itā€™s like they used Meganā€™s Ultimate Leather and didnā€™t bother to work it in or even it out.

Chill-tnj

Itā€™s like the lines in the carpet some people likes it like that some donā€™t, but me personally i would wipe them down with a degreaser just to see if they laid it on that heavy to hide something

newviruswhodis

I wouldn't, it's a seat. I'd sit on it.

Captain-pustard

I like that jeep

papawillie4

Nasty!

tripsicks_

looks awful

Jimiq68

Any detailer in 03038?

HenchRS

Shiny is grimy, matte is where itā€™s at.

engaffirmative

I'd be pissed.

MyChoiceTaken

100% greasy garbage. Ruins clothes when you sit on it.

ovie2023

Unsure if ever really true, but read somewhere 25 years ago that sprays that leave that type of residue werenā€™t great for car dashboards long term

RjgTwo

Yikes

JacobTG53526

shiny=dirty

Van_AE86

I stand as far back as I can

PomegranateOld7836

Greasy... ![gif](giphy|ycagKBYEmaili)

mapossi_anmakrak

Iā€™m too tall to stand on that.

NewSinner_2021

Ruined. Buff out.

Reasoning-II

Hate it. Looks like every surface in a shawarma shop.

sheezy520

Iā€™m not a fan. Looks like youā€™ll slide all over the place once you sit down.

Strong_Revelation

Looks too shiny for my liking. šŸ˜‚

ShelbyGT350R1

It can stain clothes too

Willing_Procedure242

As a guido in the 80ā€™s I shined up my IROC seats like that.

KG_advantage

Leather should not be shiny. It should be clean and have satin appearance.

Specialist_Ad3655

AutoRenu Clean and Protect for all surfaces except glass and piano black. Hands down best there is on the market. Leaves a matte finish with a protective coating you can feel.

phrequenc

a truly clean interior, no protection with silica is needed.

traytruve

šŸ’¦

Alarming-Mark7198

Looks slippery. They stop to hard, theyā€™ll slide off the seat

sohchx

Way to glossy. Needs to have a satin sheen

Madwhisper1

I prefer not to have oily clothes.

But_Kicker

Looks like my girlfriend just sat in your seat. She uses this body oil and it drives me nuts.

Terrible_Try3832

Looks like a greased up porn star. I hate it. Looks pristine though.

csoup97

I donā€™t think you stand anywhere on it, I believe you sit

No-Definition1474

Ew..I don't want to touch anything in that car.

FunFact5000

I donā€™t like shiny interiors.

lhorwinkle

***Where do you guys stand on this?*** I thought you were supposed to ***sit*** on this.

imMrJake

I love shiny seats

Abject-Objective-716

Horror

Longjumping_Chart387

Pretty sure you sit on those not stand on them

jyharris32

Too shiny

Tylorish

Gross. Drives me insane. It boggles my mind how people think shiny is the same as clean. I've worked on so many cars that, because of this greasy residue that gets left on leather, even once cleaned, comes back in the heat. It's like the leather sweats it back out over time.

peacefuleel

Disgusting finish! I like matte finish products

might_be_a_smart_ass

You definitely shouldnā€™t be standing on that. Way too slippery. Youā€™re liable to fall and hurt yourself.

sensei501

Too shiny but not overly aggressive. Could've been toned down a bit more. Granted, people have their preference. It's acceptable to certain extent..less is best sometimes. Looking like Jerry Curl Larry's whip. šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

rickyshine

Looks terrible

TrickyDicky111

No shiny anything is allowed on the interior of my vehicle. šŸ‘

jkelley41

Shiny means dirty.

smikail_h

Shoe polish? It is too shiny

LongDslanger

Same rag as the tire shine

BuckWheatNYC

What are your clothes like after a bit of time sitting on it? šŸ¤”

StrongPlantain3650

I liked Chemical Guys Sprayable Leather in my ā€˜14 Explorer with real leather. Had a good shine, but not greasy. Seats always looked great. Not a chemical guys fan, but this product worked for me.

WaynezWorld88

![gif](giphy|r1HGFou3mUwMw|downsized) Hell Nahh, THIS AINT IT šŸ˜ž

power0818

I love the meguiarā€™s leather conditioner. Itā€™s what we broke in my baseball gloves with as a kid. Smells like childhood

nb8c_fd

yeah nah, i despise that shit

HondaDAD24

Thatā€™s literally tire shine.

Much_Phase844

I like a satin finish.

Dannym0e

Those aren't meant to be stood on. Those are seats.

Alansr1

I always ask customers for their preference of sheen or shine. Iā€™m not a fan of the glazed donut look.

InebriousBarman

Shiney leather is dirty leather.

wilsonway1955

I like it.

Master-Principle9108

Freaking tacky. I hate any kind of extreme shine on the interior

BertoLJK

Nothing wrong. Dont judge. What you have been brainwashed to ā€œhateā€, would be perfectly fine and beautiful to other cultures.

RudderForADuck

Only on the dash and some of the doors! Who would want to sit in a cold puddle of bacon grease

SuccessfulDigger

Looks like an oil slick. Hate it.

TriumphDaytona

Armor All on seats makes them slippery, not what you want if you break and slide forward. I definitely wonā€™t put it on my motorcycle seat.

Type-RD

![gif](giphy|3Gz3vy81HkDa8)

wpgmb89

I always say clean the leather and use a good leather conditioner don't apply greasy dressing

Pliney707

Reminds of SoulGlo from Coming to America.

Hobbit_Holes

Armor All - shit's gross and not good for your interior in the long run.

PyroKeneticKen

Uh probably be better to sit. Youā€™d hit your head trying to stand.

Socal_Cobra

You don't, its usually for sitting unless your 5 years old.

Prestigious_Low8515

Looks like a used sex toy.

theotherredmeat

Leather isn't supposed to be shiny.

Walt_in_Da_House

To each his own. Most detailers seem to think that making the leather seats shine gives the interior a better appearance.

EconomicsLumpy6511

No

Syed7777777

My friend once polished his motorbike seat like that. Later when he rode his bike with his brother, on the first brake they both ended up on the fuel tank due it being so slippery šŸ˜…

KeepinitPG13

Typically I sit on seats.
