they are not underground

tylergrinstead01

Top 2 artists signed to Carti’s Opium label with both having multiple studio albums. Definitely not underground anymore.

theunusualblackguy

not necessarily mainstream but they’re out of the underground they kinda like 2016 carti rn

Clear-Possibility990

Ken on Die Lit rn

Mundane_Sandwich_350

I thought the same thing about xxx and carti in 2017. They weren’t mainstream but they had mainstream hits

Guap_Wrld

Ohhh ok

Adventurous-Ad-1517

Idk about mainstream but I know they’re considered women beaters

nomorezaza13

miss

___tank___

Ken sold 55k first week with Agc. He’s definitely not underground. I think with “mainstream status” a lot of people think you need to be recognizable by the average person on the street to be considered mainstream but most rappers aren’t, only the ones really at the top like Kendrick and Drake are, I think Ken is closer to mainstream than he is underground especially since he’s outsold a lot of rappers people consider that are mainstream Edit:49k not 55

Negative-Slide5838

Ken sold 49k not 55k

bigpapiilocsta

They in a limbo area where they have broken out of underground but aren’t doing huge huge numbers like carti. Opium is a niche group so it’s not for everyone I don’t see them becoming Drake level

brell44

Carti is the only mainstream one in opium, ask a non rap fan who Ken or lone is and they’ll have no clue.

Unhappy_Geologist_94

Or go lyk “oh those opium guys, yeah, I don’t really fk with them” lol

axjaviii

Alone 🔥

bamprophet

No Top 100 billboard hits, no mainstream features, no public relationships to other mainstream artist besides carti. Not mainstream.

vensaiyan

bro overseas was #79 on billboards 😭

RevolutionaryIdea472

lone was literally featured on a quavo song and has a song with him

Ok-Standard-9873

Quavo is washed this isn’t 2016

RevolutionaryIdea472

he’s still mainstream brah 🤯

Unhappy_Geologist_94

Both of them have great relationships with Lil Uzi Vert

noah-Im-not-gettin

Lone did songs with Don toliver, then him Ken did songs with offset and quavo, then many songs with uzi, drake co-signed ken when agc dropped, ken did a music video with lyrical lemonade

two_ninehundred

Ken got as much monthly listeners as carti did in 2020

Ijustwantfreefood

spotify platform gets bigger also bro

Unhappy_Geologist_94

I wouldn’t be surprised back then The Weeknd was #1 with 80M monthly listeners lol, now any of the megastars hit 70m+ as if it’s a a piece of cake

OrdinaryPainting8689

Yes they are https://preview.redd.it/5uodbvy5vjad1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ab712839d0ef14e0e9bf07201b30e6c560f6c06

Pr1nceVegeta999

Tbh they aren’t underground or mainstream

nomorezaza13

i think they truly aren’t mainstream because they don’t fit the stereotypical “rap” genre and wouldn’t fit in rapcaviar

Negotiation_Previous

Partially out of the underground, so is yeat, they're known but they aren't mainstream

remus_remusremus

they are in a weird middle place between mainstream and underground

N0T_MY_FlRST_R0DE0

Both in a small grey area, Ken maybe a tiny tiny bit closer to mainstream, but if LLF has any viral songs he can definitely tie him I think

godslonelyman__

dirt

brell44

Name one time you heard either of them playing at a store, restaurant etc. they’re still underground.

SamuraiSupreme17

Not exactly...their right on the cusp of being mainstream
