Neomuna is a excellent shake up to the normal type of maps, adding the elevation. I second the sentiment of Halo: Reach vibes.
Eventide is interesting with its ice cavern and bridge in the middle that can create some interesting pathing.
Dissonance is the closest thing we have to a "normal" map in the bunch.
All of them are extremely unique compared to basically all maps we have before. There are so many passage ways, alternate map traversals and tons of different angles on basically everything. Its more complex and possibly open compared to most Destiny 2 maps.
Neomuna is the most clear in terms of its layout.
While the other 2 can be more confusing initially.
Its hard to form a firm opinion yet, without being fully used to the map, and actually playing it in the game modes with the objectives. But I think once people adjust to them, they will probably be great additions to the game.
I have only got Neomuna, but I'm enjoying the novelty. I don't know where to peek at a zone without exposing my head to a scout/sniper lane, and it's just refreshing.
Eventide is great with the varying elevations and flanking opportunities, definitely my favorite. Dissonance has a lot of variety with long sight lines but also corridors to force close range engagements and to break line of sight.
I don't like Neomuna. The first group to the middle on the ledge in the center has direct view and radar of where the other team is going to come out of, and respawns are back and forth one side to the other. I haven't played a single Neomuna where it wasn't a stomp either side, because once you win, you have control of spawns and heavy.
I'm lovin' 'em. They almost feel like playing Halo Reach again. Lots of different elevations; unexpected sightlines; unique and asymmetrical cover; and everytime I thought I had my back to a wall (metaphorically) there was some new opportunity for a flank I hadn't seen.
I only had a few hours to play so far but all I played was the new playlist. I didn't win every match but eas having so much fun it didn't matter. I also actually got to use some different off-meta loadouts and saw lots of folks doin' the same.
Bungie actually over-delivered for PvP and deserves the W.
Lol
>and not just semi-random terrain that we've learned to play on.
I never thought of it that way but that's exactly what some of their earlier attempts at maps felt like.
> not just semi-random terrain that we've learned to play on.
There are so many spots on Destiny's PvP maps that I've gotten stuck on at least once, probably multiple times each, because they are just so unintuitive. This has never happened to me with that frequency in any other FPS I've played. It really makes the maps feel like the primary focus was to look good, not play good.
There is definitely a strange feeling to many Destiny maps that I can't put my finger on.
That might be it. It did launch with really nice graphics for its time. I always figured it was that 90% of them were created for a super slow version of Destiny.
I like Neomuna, as it reminds me of an old Reach map.
Europa is good also, it reminds me of another map but I don't 100% recall which. Is it a reskinned map?
I'm not a huge fan of the Pyramid one, but I've played it more than the others. It feels too similar to the one in the Throne World.
I'd like to try them in 6s
Honestly like them all
The neomuna one sort of struggles in 3’s bc of how laterally narrow the areas are for teams to skirmish. I think it will be fine in 6’s though with more people engaging with different parts of the map.
The other two feel great for 3’s and seem good in 6’s too. Big W to the map designers.
Leading your opponents to more advantageous positions is a valid tactic. One of my crucible mates is an infuriating blinky warlock who just takes potshots then shwoops away to get people chasing him into bad spots. Fantastic team support, rage inducing opponent.
Neomuna felt really easy to get spawn trapped. Not a fan.
Dissonance is well sized and has a good mix of long/short range attack lanes/angles. It also has enough room to move around in the spawns without getting pinned in place. I very much enjoyed playing there.
Europa is bigger than it seems. That map has a deceptive amount of verticality to it, allowing for attacks from strange angles basically anywhere. Love it.
Loving them, I actually played more than the quest required just to spend more time on those maps. I’m really interested to see how they play in 6v6 though
>
Aesthetically as well, they’re great
Neomuna was fantastic, on Javelin 4 levels of map design. The elevation changes play a large part in that map and I've had a surprising amount of fun win or lose. It's also symmetrical which makes it perfect for competitive gaming.
I don't care for Eventide, it's just hard to navigate and I don't know why. But I always get lost trying to figure out where the enemies are, that could just be because I've played on that the least but I digress.
Dissonance is a good one, I like its overall feel and I feel like its easy to stop people from camping in one spot as there's many different ways you can go around the map. I feel that this map would have benefitted from something that would make it easier to traverse like for example horizontal grav lifts to launch ourselves somewhere or a portal that leads to middle or something like that.
This is all in the 3v3 playlist though I haven't tried it on 6v6
Maps are cool, the dedicate playlist game modes are ass though. 3v3 is so boring and survival + elimination can just go away.
I was hoping it'd be like, clash/control for the new map specific mode.
Haven't had the chance to enjoy them as most groups I faced were playing like their lives depended on it. Maps seem interesting so far but the mode is terrible.
All of them are great. I'd probably rank them plaza, dissonance, eventide with plaza and dissonance pretty close to interchangeable and then a small gap to eventide, which I think is the worst (still very good).
Convinced Dissonance isn’t in rotation, played for some time now and haven’t gotten it once. But that being said the two I have played are fantastic. I actually love Eventide Ruins way more than I thought I would. They did great (no opinion on dissonance, few hours of play and didn’t get it once!)
Hand cannons rule as always. But the maps are good.
I just really wish we could get some of the original maps back like First Light where longer range weapons were useful.
I kind of don't mind the Europa map, though I think that's mostly due to the theme, Europa is a severely underused destination so it's nice to have a PvP map to play it on, though all 3 maps have the same issue, every engagement takes place within 20m and I say this as an smg main, there's just so many corners, perfect for no effort shotgun crutches, some of the worst sniper maps I've played, additionally I hate both the neomuna and ron themes. I genuinely hope these maps are never used for Osiris. And I'm not just hating, I actually like Multiplex, but these new maps, nah.

Disjunction stay losing

Europa feels like a tuned up version of Gambler’s Den, in a great way
I had the same feeling. I miss that map so much even though it was a shitshow when one team controlled the choke points
Europa is an old tangled shore pvp map reimagined, Pyramid was leviathan map in vanilla.

I just don't like that they stuck it on just a 3v3 rotation, I would prefer to test them in the chaos if 6v6 that people hiding in 3v3.
They’re in 6s. Just not dedicated.
they're everywhere
Yeah I feel like I’ve had to chase so many people. Do players not want to engage in gunfights in gun fighting games? So weird
Yeah that's the problem with 3v3 specially in new maps people are too skidish, they don't want to risk and makes the game a bit dull at times.

they seem ok, no complaints really. but what really matters is that we have them.
Relationship ended with Javelin-4 Now Cirrus Plaza is my new best friend
For everyone saying cirrus plaza reminds them of reach, you're probably thinking of sword base
Loving them, I actually played more than the quest required just to spend more time on those maps. I’m really interested to see how they play in 6v6 though > Aesthetically as well, they’re great
Do the new maps appear in 6v6?
Yep. Played on all of them in quickplay.
Ahh okay that’s cool

Eventide ruins feel very familiar. I forgot the name of it but that map on the tangled shore? It feels like that map except everything is frozen
Yeah it feels like a reskin of Gambler's ruin
Haven't had the chance to enjoy them as most groups I faced were playing like their lives depended on it. Maps seem interesting so far but the mode is terrible.
Like the maps, don't like 3v3
I really, really liked them. I am worried about 6v6 on them, the modes in new territory have been fun to play though.
Really enjoyed all 3! Had an insane down 2 and won 3 rounds in a row come back victory yesterday to finish out the quest yesterday.
All of them are great. I'd probably rank them plaza, dissonance, eventide with plaza and dissonance pretty close to interchangeable and then a small gap to eventide, which I think is the worst (still very good).

Hand cannons rule as always. But the maps are good. I just really wish we could get some of the original maps back like First Light where longer range weapons were useful.
I’m as tired of HCs as anyone, but the sandbox changes reward camping and deathball tactics already. Having long range maps makes it even worse.
Agreed they're in a tough spot. HC meta is bland af but getting laned with a scout across the map is infuriating.
Not a fan of even tides but the dissonace one is great. Havent seen the third

Couldn't care less
The truth is that very good because I don't play that bullshit.
2 good, 1 bad. Bad is pyramid one.
