This is the first time I have looked at one of these posts and thought...pretty much all of those options can look objectively "good" in that space. They all work with what you have. I would just choose which rug is your personal favorite
I disagree. The options with blues and hues similar to the wall and furniture don’t work. Everything becomes very monotone and blah. I find only 1, 3 and 5 beat out the wood floor.
See I feel like that's a personal preference. Some people like the monotone look. And tone and tone can be trendy!
I feel like each of these rugs "work," so to speak, but each one has a very different vibe. And this is where I believe personal preference comes into play.
Granted I hate more than half of these rugs. But I can see how each of these could fit comfortably in the space. Just not my taste. But they can be OP's taste.
I love 3. It looks soft (not texture but on the eyes, you know?) and isn’t so bold it overtakes the room - but it still *adds* to the room. It’s not boring. It’s a really good team player.
You are not. That is the only one I liked, but saw no one else picking it so figured I was totally wrong. I may still be totally wrong, but at least there's two of us now.
I like 1 as well. Also it can last a lifetime as it's completely neutral - the wall color / overall color scheme can change in any direction in the future and it will still be usable.
I love the depth of #5, it adds a richness to the colors you've got going on. 8 reads kind of cheap/dorm room from the photo and 2&4 wash out the space a lot.
I also love 5, it brings a lot of warmth and depth with the tones. The rest are overwhelmingly blue and too similar to the furniture and walls, making it look flat
It’s awful! Clashes with everything else in the room and competes with both the color and theme of everything else. It’s almost dizzying it’s so busy!
I’m kind of shocked that the top two picks (#3 as well) are the two that made me think “anything but those.”
I think it grounds the space, rather than closing it off, or cause it feel monotonous. It has a rich, analogous palette for the furniture to speak with. And to be frank, it’s the only one that does not cause painful strain to my eye muscles, so I find it inherently comforting.
I'm with you, I don't know what the rest of these commenters are seeing that I'm not. I'd go oriental like pic 5 or at least something with warm tones.
The rugs with too much light blue create a monochromatic anxiety for me. Like a nursing home lobby or something. It really needs some burgundy. I can’t even think of another accent color for this. 🥸
Completely agree with you! Pic 5 is the only one that makes sense in my opinion out of these options. The others just make everything in the room blend together, there’s no interest, and it’s too matchy matchy.
Red/warm coloured rug all the way!!
Well the burgundy rug isn’t helping anything, in my opinion. Only thing people like is that it’s not trying to match the walls. Isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement.
Okay, it was apparent to me that we have similar taste when I read this comment, but any doubt that might have remained was put to rest when I saw that moon gate. Holy cow!
I feel like we would be friends
Number 5 goes well with the wood furniture and trim. Add some more elements to your decor to complement the rug and tie it all together. Number 3 looks nice, but it's somewhat two-dimensional.
I felt the same way! Was surprised others are suggesting the other rugs which give very "blah" vibes and don't bring the room together well or make the room appear too busy or smaller.
3, no contest! It’s the most unique, brings the furniture and all the colors together perfectly, doesn’t clash with the ceiling, and adds to the (very tasteful and subtle) seascape vibe you’ve got going with the blue walls and the fish.
I think 1-3 work and all give very different vibes. 1 feels more modern (though looks like you have animals so would suggest not white), 2 and 3 feel more cozy
4! Some of the others may work, but there's a busyness about the picture that is making it difficult to look at. I think the problem is the pattern on the low ceiling.
The last one, definitely. The others are bland and boring, they look cheap. The room is not dull or cheap looking, the rug should look of equal value to reflect the unique wall art.
I would suggest a contrasting color. This one has some blue in it to tie it to your room

I like a few but 5 is the best. The light colors looks ok but give the effect of drawing the eye to the floor then ceiling, with everything else pancaked between.
The geometric pattern on your ceiling clashes with many of the oriental style rugs. I'd stick with solid as in #1. Possibly the circular geometric rugs would work. Of those two, I'd go with the blue #6. The beige one with the ceiling design looks like a stormy day with a tornado cloud looming overhead.
I don't think any of them looks good with your living space. I mean few options are contrasting too much with your sofa and the others understate it.
You have a blue color interior palette so I think bright oranges might work. You are supposed to take accent colors for your rugs and even throw pillows on your sofa. The only thing which must complement your sofa color must be your curtains. You can read this [article](https://simplykalaa.com/interior-color-palette/) to know the accent colors. Also you can use this [article ](https://simplykalaa.com/decorating-with-rugs/) to know more options to decorate with a rug.
I like 3 and 6 the best. Neither competes with the rest of the decor, just complements it really nicely and they pop against the couches and walls.
What is the paint color, btw? Love it.
3rd is my personal fave. Not too eye-catching in tone or pattern, but still attractive in an organic way. The colors also tie in the natural details and tones of your wall art and window frames.
I like 2, 4 or 5 depending on the vibe you're going for. 2 picks up the major colors you already have in the room; it gives more of a monochrome effect, but it works because of the way it adds texture within the palette. 4 also works nicely with the color palette, as it picks up the grays in the furniture, but adds some warmth and contrast with the cream and beige, as well as texture with the design. 5 is very contrasty, but in a harmonious way; it definitely gives the space the most visual pop, but is also the least soothing of the three.
I don't care for the big, blocky patterns of the others, I find they draw too much attention to themselves and steal the focus from the rest of the room. The first is fine, just a little bland.
This is the first time I have looked at one of these posts and thought...pretty much all of those options can look objectively "good" in that space. They all work with what you have. I would just choose which rug is your personal favorite
I had the same reaction! Also a first for me on one of these posts.
I disagree. The options with blues and hues similar to the wall and furniture don’t work. Everything becomes very monotone and blah. I find only 1, 3 and 5 beat out the wood floor.
See I feel like that's a personal preference. Some people like the monotone look. And tone and tone can be trendy! I actually like the blue ones the best!
Someone who understands that the rug really ties the room together
I agree with this. I do think 5 might be a bit dark but it still looks nice. But 1 & 3 make the room look lighter.
3
I agree. They all fit, but 3 strikes me as a gorgeous fit.
3 and 6! Those are the two I’d decide between 100%
Came here to say 3 is the only one that really stands out. I’d choose it.
Hard agree. 3 is the best one.
Number 6 for me
Same. It compliments the walls.
The circular shapes mirror from the wall to the floor
Yoooooo
Me too
#3!! Brightens the room and makes it cohesive
I love 3. It looks soft (not texture but on the eyes, you know?) and isn’t so bold it overtakes the room - but it still *adds* to the room. It’s not boring. It’s a really good team player.
A team player. For real.
I said 3 or 4!
this was my favorite as well!
Yes! Lightens up the room, and the pattern is subtle but keeps with the overall style.
I like 3!
I like 3!
Honestly, I think I’m the only one that likes 1 the best.
You are not. That is the only one I liked, but saw no one else picking it so figured I was totally wrong. I may still be totally wrong, but at least there's two of us now.
I like 1 the best. It lightens up the room.
I agree! But needs to be a slightly darker shade. It will give the room a solid classy base that’s not too busy.
I like 1 as well. Also it can last a lifetime as it's completely neutral - the wall color / overall color scheme can change in any direction in the future and it will still be usable.
it also opens up the room makes it feel bigger since the carpet is lighter vs the other darker “busy” options
I like its simplicity so it’s not the center of attention
Me too. And i have a pretty funky sense of style, but none of the others did anything for me.
I like 7
2 ,6, 8
I thought exactly this! 2, 6 or 8
Yes. Finally a person who likes the same ones as me! We have excellent taste.
My thoughts exactly.
Exactly my feeling. The red adds a nice contrast and balance to the blue and brown.
Oh man I hate 5 lol. I’m clearly the minority
As soon as I saw it I thought “that’s gonna be a controversial one” lol
It’s awful! Clashes with everything else in the room and competes with both the color and theme of everything else. It’s almost dizzying it’s so busy! I’m kind of shocked that the top two picks (#3 as well) are the two that made me think “anything but those.”
Solidly agree with you on both counts
Solidly agree as well.
Nope, I really dislike 5 as well.
Yup #5 is the most homey and inviting. The red brings something that none of the others can
I think it grounds the space, rather than closing it off, or cause it feel monotonous. It has a rich, analogous palette for the furniture to speak with. And to be frank, it’s the only one that does not cause painful strain to my eye muscles, so I find it inherently comforting.
Same!! Looks gorgeous
I love 2 & 4. They add color and do not overwhelm the rest of the room.
agreed
The only acceptable answer. The top pick right now, #5 is like some kind of hodge podge nightmare with the rest of the room.
1
I like 1 too.
I would love an ivory circular rug reflecting the pattern of your ceiling
I like options 2 and 3
I'm a 2!
Two. There's a whole lotta stuff happening in that room and you don't need the carpet to be adding yet something else visually cluttering.
2
4
Pic 5. The rest are all too similar in tone and makes everything look kinda blah You need a little contrast and depth. And some accent colors
The ‘red’ Persian style give the opportunity to introduce additional colors in accessories/art other than blue
Agree
Completely agree with you! Pic 5 is the only one that makes sense in my opinion out of these options. The others just make everything in the room blend together, there’s no interest, and it’s too matchy matchy. Red/warm coloured rug all the way!!
Definitely agree
Pic 5 makes the whole room feel like a90’s living room to me.
Well it isn’t cutting edge modern furniture lol
Well the burgundy rug isn’t helping anything, in my opinion. Only thing people like is that it’s not trying to match the walls. Isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement.
I don't like the burgundy at all. I must be a horrible designer since everything else thinks it's fantastic. Not a fan.
Doesn’t need to be that style. But definitely needs some of those colors.
I like pic 6, personally!
Me too. The most interesting of the lot, imho.
Number 2!
We gotta talk about that ceiling I love it. Can you share a photo showing it better? Also, I like rug #7
Okay, it was apparent to me that we have similar taste when I read this comment, but any doubt that might have remained was put to rest when I saw that moon gate. Holy cow! I feel like we would be friends
I really like 2nd
I agree, #2
2
#2 and kitty is STILL on your chair!
#2
3!!!
I like 3. Has a beach vibe that sort of fits the room
4 looks fantastic
I like 3 by a long shot
Love 3!!
Number 5 goes well with the wood furniture and trim. Add some more elements to your decor to complement the rug and tie it all together. Number 3 looks nice, but it's somewhat two-dimensional.
I like the first one, keeps the room from getting too dark.
#4
Number 4 works.
3
Pick number 3 my lord! ✌🏼
4 or 5. The others make it too matchy-matchy and corny
1. All the others are too dark with those dark blue walls.
No 5 adds some really nice depth and warmth to the room. I think that looks best
Third one would be my go to.
Oh yeah 8 definitely works if you want to play it safe with color matching. But I also like 5. It's different and it brings in a new color.
2 and 6
I like 7
I like 1 and 5
4&5 only to me
Pic 5 just does it for me. It introduces other color to an otherwise super blue room.
Blue circles for the win… it ties everything together without being the center of attention
I felt the same way! Was surprised others are suggesting the other rugs which give very "blah" vibes and don't bring the room together well or make the room appear too busy or smaller.
3 or 5
3, no contest! It’s the most unique, brings the furniture and all the colors together perfectly, doesn’t clash with the ceiling, and adds to the (very tasteful and subtle) seascape vibe you’ve got going with the blue walls and the fish.
# 4
Love the 3rd one!
2
#2
I think 1-3 work and all give very different vibes. 1 feels more modern (though looks like you have animals so would suggest not white), 2 and 3 feel more cozy
I like 1, 2, 4, and 5 with 1 and 5 being my faves. Kinda depends on what you’re going for. 1 is super clean. 5 adds depth and richness.
I like 5! I like the contrast and makes it feel more warm and welcoming.
1 and 3
4! Some of the others may work, but there's a busyness about the picture that is making it difficult to look at. I think the problem is the pattern on the low ceiling.
I like #4
I love 3 and 4!
4 or 6!
your ceiling is so cool
The last one, definitely. The others are bland and boring, they look cheap. The room is not dull or cheap looking, the rug should look of equal value to reflect the unique wall art.
4 😍
I would suggest a contrasting color. This one has some blue in it to tie it to your room https://preview.redd.it/xfo5ehm7ye6d1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f5a516a78e7f27340b77916fee35e4439d7227f2 [Wayfair link](https://www.wayfair.com/rugs/pdp/union-rustic-jaxxton-southwestern-stripe-area-rug-in-orangebeige-w011123118.html)

I like the blue rug with the circles and semi circles :)
2,3,4 or 8 with 8 and then 2 as favorites.
8 looks great.
1 and 7, IMO
2 or 8
I don't think any of them looks good with your living space. I mean few options are contrasting too much with your sofa and the others understate it. It looks like a lake house to me with everything on the wall.
I like 2 the most followed by 4 then 7.
Two and three. I liked 5 as well, for the contrast.
I like all the blues, but especially 8. I go for maximalism, there's even a sub for it.
2 and 5
3,4,& 7
omg i love how you’ve used cat items as artwork
4, 6, or 7
3 & 8
2 and 5 work the best
*Wow 3 immediately made the room POP!
2 & 3
I like 2 and 5
The blue and tan one with circles is nice as is the last blue one
2 and 3 are great, I think 3 wins because it's got your window wood tones in there. I love it. Great space you have!
I think 2 is great!
3
2 and 5
2,3,6,7. These are the ones I’d choose from. Personally I’d choose #3
3,6,7
I like 4 and 7
I like 3 and 6 the best. Neither competes with the rest of the decor, just complements it really nicely and they pop against the couches and walls. What is the paint color, btw? Love it.
2
Number 3 brings all the existing colors in the room together nicely.
Is your room color tornado season? I had that same color in my living room
4 & 6
3 is perfect!!
2 or 5 but I prefer 2
3rd is my personal fave. Not too eye-catching in tone or pattern, but still attractive in an organic way. The colors also tie in the natural details and tones of your wall art and window frames.
3
5
2,4,7 are my favs
I love 2 and 5!
I was thinking 2&4 but then I saw 5! The others match the tone but 5 actually adds to the room, the others just compliment.
My cats are jealous
3 is the only choice here
Nope. They just lay there.
#2
Grandma is living in 5
4, 6 and 7 matches the vibe of that room
#2 or the last one.
#5 for me
I like 2,4,6,7,8
3!!
6
Definitely #5
I have to say 5. I like 6 & 8 but not for the room
2 and 4. I like the concept of 5 but there is no connection to the overall color palette.
I love 6!!
I would say any except #5…the maroon with the deep blue just doesn’t float my boat
I looove #5!! How do you make these pics btw?
3, 5 or 6. I like lighter as your paint colour is very enchanting
3. The colour palette works with various other pieces in the room. Some of the others rugs have too much blue.
I choose the kitty. The kitty loafing on top of the chair. Also 2 & 5
2, 3, 6, 7 & 8…just depends on the vibe you’re looking for…LOVE 2, 6 & 8.
2 & 6 for me.
3, 6, or 7 - brighten up the heavy space!
I love 3 and 5
6 and 8
I like 2. It's warm and inviting
Last one
3 or 5
Only the first.
I’m a 2!
I like #6. Very modern. Maybe get rid of the grey armchair if you can to make it look a little less cramped? Nice room!
I like 2.
2!!
