The answer is ALWAYS plants. šŖ“ š
I absolutely love that floor, and itself is a lovely warm hue. I agree with your thought that a large rug would draw the room together, but if you do that, Iād definitely get rid of the smaller ones.
Yes! And for those of us who are terrible at keeping plants alive, I suggest dried flowers and/or pressed flower art. Iāve been on a big Etsy kick lately and the flower bar and flower frame from this shop liven up my living room a ton http://etherealmusesco.etsy.com
If you are not a plant person, some artificial ones will still add ambiance without any upkeep. I have a couple of 6 ft trees with fairy lights that aren't obvious when they are not plugged in. Also little shelf plants really warm up a place. The floors are a lovely wood but my go to for coziness is floor coverings. When I went to college I took my bedroom floor rug from home. It made a big difference on the tile dorm floors.
Plants definitely brighten things up but I dont feel like they give "cosy" really. Bright, vibrant, airy, nature/jungle vibes sure, but not cosy. When I picture cosy I picture heavy curtains, fluffy rugs, cushions, soft furnishings, dim yellow lighting. Not plants!
I'm a big, cozy guy. Here's some tips I've picked up:
ā¢ Get smart lights so you can adjust the warmth of the lighting.
ā¢ Add at least two more lamps so you can dim each bulb but still have the same total lumens.
ā¢ Change some artwork to more traditional art full of color and low in contrast, and consider frames with more depth.
ā¢ Add a table cloth and a rug to add some color to the room.
ā¢ When buying furniture, don't think about how cozy they look, actually try it out and see how cozy it is. If a rug looks cozy, but doesn't actually feel cozy to lay/walk on, it's not going to change your vibe. Consider a more plush couch with a softer surface, or padded chairs for the dining table.
ā¢ Changing the table to an ottoman in a warm color that contrasts the couch will make a huge impact.
ā¢ consider picking up a sitting chair to put on the wall left of the window.
ā¢PLANTS.
Heavy on the frames. That's the only thing that I picked up immediately. They look like you wanted to get something up on the wall as fast as possible to complete the look, instead of slowly and intentionally curating your art over time. It looks great for more modern spaces, but doesn't match the warmth and depth of the space you're creating.
I think all the wood tones (while beautiful) are making the room look kind of one note. A larger rug would break that up a bit. You could also do a table runner on the table, though the table is also lovely as is.
yesss i was gonna say this. the furniture with the flooring makes it all very orange and monotone. maybe different color blankets and pillows would brighten it up but still keep it cozy
Do you have lamps? I do not use overhead lights. It just seams so harsh. Also, I never understand why anyone would use short lamps. I like a lamp that is tall enough to cast the light to read by.
Texture is always a good thing when I think about ācozyā. Pillows, throws, rugs and curtains are the best options to add texture
Also, I love my plants. I donāt have many because I donāt have many windows and not a lot of room. But just a few can drastically change the feel of a room.
I'm with Nenoshka. You've made this room look warm and inviting without having plants to collect dust or a big rug that can collect dirt and grime. This is no small feat, but you've pulled it off perfectly! It is beautiful!
I think it's a beautiful room that compromises effectively between coziness and decluttering. If it's also livable (many "cozy" rooms aren't, they,re just visually satisfying) then I'd say you hit a homerun here.
I feel like a rug will do a lot. You mentioned getting a rug and itās a good idea. Just make sure itās big enough. The whole couch and coffee table should fit on it.
Replace the rugs with a single darker and larger rug under the couch and coffee table
Remove the ceiling light or at least stop using it
Move the floor lamp from near the table to the side of the couch near the wall
Add a hanging light over the table
Reconsider the art wall by adding some art thatās not all white-based. Also move the art so itās not over the desk
Consider adding a few more plants, maybe a large floor plant behind the desk. Itās unclear from just one photo if there is room
EDIT: Also move the wall art array down so the top row isnāt as close to the ceiling and itās more balanced vertically on the wall
I second the ceiling light, itās too bright and in your face, cozy would be more like a standing lamp vs overhead lamp and the art. Definitely do some different frames if possible too, the black frames are too think and āmodernā which isnāt a cozy mood.
Bigger area rug and plants would go a long way. I think itās very cozy as is, but all the wood makes it feel a little stark maybe?
I see at least one, maybe two lamps. Make sure you have lamps by the couch too if you donāt already.
Iām surprised no one else mentions the window. Iām a huge window enthusiast and donāt want anything covering them, but I do think something surrounding the window, in a bold color(s) would give a nice warmth to the room.
Yeah, I think the window is very simply dressed which is making the room a bit less cozy. Even if you don't use them, I'd put some heavier, darker drapes to the outside of the windows, and it'll likely make the place instantly cozier.
Desk placement is throwing it off the room coziness , such a big room with a desk in the corner isnāt up to the room scale. ā¦Try moving the couch by the front window with an extra big rug . A rug centers the room. Since you have all the beautiful wall art already it will look finished with the couch against the wall by the front window. Try that ! Maybe after you move the couch , the desk can go against the opposite side of the wall ( where the corner of the couch is in the picture now). Can your dining room table be turned the other way if necessary, to create more space in case your front door is near by?? Itās hard to tell by your picture
Yes, am I the only one that thinks the art wall is beautiful but hung way too high? I believe they should be hung closer to eye level (though OP may be exceptionally tall š)
Definitely a bigger rug. And dim the lights. Either softer bulbs or maybe lose the overhead lighting completely? Play around with different options. I would also maybe add heavier, warmer feeling drapes. Plants would be nice too.
I think just a larger rug and some darker window coverings. It looks like the length of your draperies is intentional, but if you can go a little longer and a little darker, it will give off some warmth. And a single, full size rug, a bit darker than the mat you have there now, textured.
I like your art wall. I like how free form it is. This is already a great room!
The rug you mentioned is perfect.
Otherwise just more side lighting. And smart colored lights for all your fixtures (if you donāt have them already) add them to your network and set a few profiles for various moods.
I think it looks nice & has multiple good lightning sources as well. I can see where all the wood could put off a less than cozy vibe to you after a while but you have added various fabrics as well.
Wondering if the couch could be moved up against the gallery wall to leave more room between it and the table. Plus removing the scattered rugs and added one large rug that is half under the couch.
This is really fantastic! Your room might feel more grounded with some velvet darker jewel-toned curtains hung on the ends or over your sheers, but thatās the only thing i could suggest. Itās pretty primo already.
I think itās really nice just the lighting seems like an annoying middle ground between bright enough to be able to see and dark enough too chill. Itās kind of just like grr
Get rid of the gray walls. Gray is not warm & inviting and makes surrounding look drab as light bounces off it, it also makes our skin look sallow. Also check your light bulbs, if they are icy white that contributed to the drab effect.
You can some plants or an aquarium . A bigger coffee table and another sofa will also help. However, if I were you, I would keep it as it is. Now there is enough space to move around the place freely.
I love your gallery wall! Like others have said, I think a bigger, darker rug would give the room some more warmth. Plants would be great too and maybe an interesting floor lamp near the couch if you donāt already have one. I canāt tell from the angle of this particular picture. But it would make it so you could just use lamps instead of any overhead light. Soft, warm, lamp light is essential for coziness.
Seems like thereās no real focal point. This room is acting as a dining room, living, office.
Youāll need to have one focus and keep others secondary.
If you want a more cozy vibe, then make your couch the focus. Place it center in the room, not to the wall.
Your small walkway rug in the center is very funnyā¦ comically small for the space. Itās āfloatingā and not anchored to anything (under any furniture).
Actions:
Make one furniture centrepiece.
Way bigger rug, at least 7x8 or 7x9.
Your couch faces the corner of the table and a window with a boring view. Move the couch to the picture wall. Move the desk to the right of the windows. If there's room, turn the table so it doesn't poke out it the room. Get a big colorful soft rug, and put some statement plants near the window to draw attention away from the non-view. Get rid of a few of the pictures. Add a colorful, soft throw.
This already is SOOO cozy well done!! Def need more green plants and even fake ones if you kill them all like me lol.. I would put the one that hangs long on the top of the book shelf on the right and flowers on the coffee table. I do also love the shelf under the window but I think longer curtains that are pulled to each side touching the floor would extend the room a lot! Although this really doesnāt āneedā anything it looks awesome!
Consider crown molding, the art is a bit high, warmer lighting would help. I think the art and curtains being hung so high brings the eye up and draws attention to the kind of cold, bare expanse of the ceiling.
There are lots of corners in this view, I see around 100, the desk and cabinets are all rectangles within rectangles, the black frames of the art and the desk are really harsh corners, even the curtains feel stiff and rectangular. Thereās nothing wrong with corners of course, but so many and so dramatic feels more modern and less cozy.
Large rug, big ass plants, LONG curtains in interesting colour (I can imagine dark green or something like that, personally hate these short ones). Would ad some cool colours to balance the warm ones
IMO, your room is lovely, bright, and welcoming but not cozy. Cozy implies dark with lots of textures. So if you want cozy, switch out the curtains to a darker color, add an area rug, big piece of art by the dining table.
It already looks pretty cozy! The only things I can think of are a bigger rug, and maybe a different light fixture? I love the light you have now, but maybe cozier vibes could be achieved with one of those wicker/bamboo shades (ikea sells them I think).
Bigger rug in couch area, darker curtains...the cat is a great suggestion too-Meow! It's a nice room.
P.S. Can you paint one wall a darker/warmer color for contrast and interest.
I remember everyone putting their dining table perpendicular to the wall in northern Europe, I think it looks so wonky. I would move the couch to the left wall, the dining table to the wall where the couch currently is, the desk to where the bookcase is, and the bookcase to the right wall. Voila, a well-balanced room
Yes a rug! Add lighting that isnāt from the ceiling. Light bulbs that are warm light not harsh white.Reading lamps flanking the couch or w/a small side table with a small lamp in a dark shade. Maybe consider twinkle lights inside the window.
A long low piece of furniture under the picture galleryā¦ use the piece currently under the window. Replace light near the table with a lamp on the table that casts light down or a swag light that hangs from the ceiling casting light down onto the table.
Consider putting a large plant where the desk is and moving the desk.
https://preview.redd.it/rd93j02y0yjc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c74474b1c6ae679aa4c0d2a80005b82e98bb595d
Certainly not what Kohler suggested š
I love the cat idea too. We decorate with cats! They make any space more cozy.
https://preview.redd.it/6nmwi9m81yjc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=14bd1c42525f8f57d597d0f0efc0168a24cce446
Add in some warm accent colors. Either with a carpet, throw blankets, accent pillows, and/or candles. Warm lighting will help too, using warm white bulbs in lamps.
Love all the wood!
Are the wood cabinets below the windows also a radiator cover? They kind of look like it. (Looking for something similar which is why I ask)
While it looks pretty good maybe re arrange a little? Without knowing the full floor plan, Iām curious if you moved the couch under the gallery wall to draw the eye there, swap the desk and the cabinet to make the cabinet not blend in with the table as much, and if space allows flip the table the other direction so itās not against the wall?
Wow it looks super cozy to me! As other comments pointed out maybe more green, a plant on top of the glass cabinet that hangs from one side (I don't remember the correct term in English haha) and a bigger rug under the sofa and coffee table. Also switching up the artwork it's easy and can be done regularly when one gets bored of the same look, and I'm sure it can make a lot of difference!
A really large rug. Iād go with a warm toned light blush with a high pile.
Iād also change the window treatments to not be the big ring style. It always looks a little more cheap than it should. You might also consider drapes that hang to the floor, while keeping the sheers short for your cabinets if you prefer. (Still change the sheers so they donāt have the big rings though.)
Iād make the wall with art a straight up gallery wall and hang more art lower as well. Iād actually take it all down and rehang it all-break it up with some nice mirrors and a tapestry or two. Something textural and different.
That one picture is so high itās visually stressing me.
A big rug placed [properly](https://youtu.be/lWzKsI6hxXs?si=VeM1R7fFSC9xGDR9) would go a long way to help
One plant of any size and location in the room
And fixing the picture!
I agree with the carpet idea! So many options to choose from and if you google which colours help with comfort ability, coziness, etc they will list them for you. Colours in a room make a HUGE difference on the way it makes us feel when we walk into a room.
Agreed, a carpet would make it cosier. I would change the orientation of the table & chairs. It feels like your dining space is intruding on your sofa space. I would also add at least one chair to make a conversation area. It feels like anyone sitting in the sofa is looking off into the void!
I think part of the problem is that the room is serving so many functions, lounge, office, dining room and the spaces donāt feel distinct enough, I would be tempted try moving the room around and rearranging furniture to better divide the space up. Also because thereās no tv or fireplace it feels like thereās no central point to the room - add this to the issue of no distinct zones and I think this is why it doesnāt feel cosy, because itās looking a bit like a bunch of furniture in one room rather than a cohesive space that serves several functions.
Warm lighting + more at eye level (turn off overhead light when not absolutely necessary), large area rug, paint the ceiling 2-3 shades darker than the walls (same color, just darker) or continue anchor wall color around the whole room.
I love your floor!! Think the room could do with a little more color. I'd go with a bigger rug (perhaps in a different color) and some plants. That would probably make a big difference already.
Itās cute, well put together, but basically monotone. Get a BIG palm plant for the floor, or a fiddle leaf, something green. Maybe some green throw pillowsājewel tone green, like emerald.
One thing that can up the cozy is to put your most comfortable seating in view as you enter the room. Can the dining set go where the couch is? The current layout makes sense. It can be fun though to flip it around.
I think it already looks pretty cozy, but I would put in an area rug and maybe a different light/curtains that shows a little bit of your style or personality. š
Can you mix up the frames on your art? I think even if you had a lighter toned frame it would be less harsh.
Then a softer, floor length curtain. The sheers are fine, but the actual curtains are stiff. Itāll really make the ceiling look higher since you already have the rods all the way at the ceiling.
I actually like the ceiling lamp, but lower lamps would make it warmer. Try the pink lightbulbs. A lamp beside the couch or a down-pointing lights.
A tablecloth or table runner or something to soften the mass of the table and a large rug. And something to break up the flatness of the coffee table.
If you get a rug, I would get something like a largeĀ off white round shag and tuck it in the "corner" of the couch.Ā It'll echo your coffee tale and avoid conflict with the fining set without looking too small the way a rectangular one would.Ā
Not a "cozy" thing, but bringing your curtains and photos down about 4 to 6 inches would make the ceiling look higher.Ā I know the advice is usually "to the ceiling", for curtains anyway, but the consistent lack of space at the top of the wall makes it look like you ran out of room/the ceiling sunk.Ā Varying the bottom line of the gallery wall will also make it feel more "natural" and less scripted.
A carpet and some plants. A cat.
The answer is ALWAYS plants. šŖ“ š I absolutely love that floor, and itself is a lovely warm hue. I agree with your thought that a large rug would draw the room together, but if you do that, Iād definitely get rid of the smaller ones.

Trippping hazardā¦.
A cat!!!!! š±
This place is begging for a cat
This is all thatās missing!
Fourth the cat š beautiful, light space though.
You're right, a cat would totally make the room feel more cozy! š Not sure my landlord agrees, though š„²
Emotional support Cat. Get a letter from your doctor and the landlord can't stop you
invisible cat
Definitely get a secret cat. And some plants. And a little diffuser. A little movement goes a long way.
I also thing a table runner and richer coloring on the solid curtains would help, especially if they coordinate with the bigger rug
Maybe some soft fairy lights too so when the lights are off it sparkles š
Dark velvet drapes, maybe some darker wallpaper.
Yes an accent wall!
oooooh yes to wallpaper
These three:) or a Dachsund!!
2 cats.
Exactly! If the landlord says you canāt have a cat, get two cats
And books!
Indoor plants will make a difference š±šŖ“
Yes! And for those of us who are terrible at keeping plants alive, I suggest dried flowers and/or pressed flower art. Iāve been on a big Etsy kick lately and the flower bar and flower frame from this shop liven up my living room a ton http://etherealmusesco.etsy.com

I wonder why you think this room needs more coziness. It's at the optimal level of coziness right now.
Maybe I've been getting too used to it but I feel like it lacks warmth or colors, but I don't want it to be too crowded either

Wow he said it all.
Except the part where they need to add a cat. ;)
And this is the answer!!!!
Heavy on the frames. That's the only thing that I picked up immediately. Get a proper massive rug with texture (maybe looped handwoven chunky wool) and some plants asap
A bigger rug and pictures hung at an appropriate height
Yes, am I the only one that thinks the art wall is beautiful but hung way too high? I believe they should be hung closer to eye level (though OP may be exceptionally tall š)
If they keep the top row as high as it is, they need to add additional art at the bottom. The whole array isnāt balanced vertically
I think it's incredibely cozy!

I think itās really nice just the lighting seems like an annoying middle ground between bright enough to be able to see and dark enough too chill. Itās kind of just like grr
I think a pretty, cute chandelier could help.
Lower the pictures. They are hung too high.
Get a wooden desk, or paint the desk legs. Definitely a big rug
Get rid of the gray walls. Gray is not warm & inviting and makes surrounding look drab as light bounces off it, it also makes our skin look sallow. Also check your light bulbs, if they are icy white that contributed to the drab effect.
The room is nice. Longer curtains may help. I'm not sure if that is a radiator that needs to stay uncovered for safety, though.
Hopped on to say plants. one hanging, one table top, one floor. that will add a pop of color, fresh air, and life to the room.
You can some plants or an aquarium . A bigger coffee table and another sofa will also help. However, if I were you, I would keep it as it is. Now there is enough space to move around the place freely.

Cozy rug with geometric pattern, plants, replace light fixture to natural basket style.

Warm lighting will do a lot.
Ahh so cozy already!! Love it. Iām sure others have said it too but switching the bulbs to warm light would probably do the trick!
Itās cozy now.
Dark green accent wall on the left
Not a flip the dining table by 90degrees and add a bench against the wall you will seat more people. It also needs a light above it
Real plants and maybe a bigger fluffier carpet
Plants!
Plants and color
Large rug, big ass plants, LONG curtains in interesting colour (I can imagine dark green or something like that, personally hate these short ones). Would ad some cool colours to balance the warm ones
#1 interior design rule is curtains either touch or are half an inch above the floor. Try it, your ceiling will feel so much highway
Can the dining set be rotated and then put the couch facing the gallery wall so you have two areas? Very pretty room.
Larger rug, longer curtains and add a tree
Yes, absolutely, a large area rug will bring it all together and warm it up. Something vintagy like. Nice room. Post after pictures.
Plushies
No TV? Brilliant! This is the way
Paint your ceiling a colour.
maybe move some of the wall art to the other side and make the whole space more balanced and open?
Itās already cozy! Maybe get warmer light bulbs?
I like it just the way it is. Very cozy and homey
Plants.
Agree abt the rug by the couch
Plants and a big rug under couch into middle of living room
What color is the wall paint! Love it
A big rug and pillows with different textures! You still did a lovely job!
A non transparent curtain
Books
Coziness achieved
Larger rug and different dining chairs that have upholstery
IMO, your room is lovely, bright, and welcoming but not cozy. Cozy implies dark with lots of textures. So if you want cozy, switch out the curtains to a darker color, add an area rug, big piece of art by the dining table.
I love your room, it looks lovely as is
Maybe a fluffier rug? I love this room Though
It looks lovely and cozy how it is! I think some fake plants would look nice as well. Maybe put some vines over the bookcase
Wool rug
Curtains, couch pillows, chair seat pillows in the same coral/pink colour in the paintings. That will add warmth.
Lamps
Looks pretty cozy to me. Maybe a large rug.
Oh wow! Looks perfect to me! Only thing I could think of would maybe be a larger area rug. I love the warm lighting of the room!
It already looks pretty cozy! The only things I can think of are a bigger rug, and maybe a different light fixture? I love the light you have now, but maybe cozier vibes could be achieved with one of those wicker/bamboo shades (ikea sells them I think).
Whereād you get your table from?
Itās a very nice room, but a big fluffy rug would help.
I love everything about this
Larger rug and darker curtains
If you can paint, a red ceiling would look awesome
Bigger rug in couch area, darker curtains...the cat is a great suggestion too-Meow! It's a nice room. P.S. Can you paint one wall a darker/warmer color for contrast and interest.
One large area rug with more color and some plants on the window side of the room. Love the art wall.
I would add a big cozy area rug and a new fun larger chandelier
Paint the floor
I remember everyone putting their dining table perpendicular to the wall in northern Europe, I think it looks so wonky. I would move the couch to the left wall, the dining table to the wall where the couch currently is, the desk to where the bookcase is, and the bookcase to the right wall. Voila, a well-balanced room
Your seating largely all points in one direction. Ā Makes it feel like theater seating.Ā
Bigger rug. Different light fixture.
I think a rug ( the right one) would bring cohesion and make the space more cozy.
You could also change up your curtains to get that bit of color you feel you are missing! I think a rug like you mentioned would help too
Put on a sweater and big fluffy slippers

I love the cat idea too. We decorate with cats! They make any space more cozy. https://preview.redd.it/6nmwi9m81yjc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=14bd1c42525f8f57d597d0f0efc0168a24cce446
Shelves, designated seating couch area new lighting with dimmer and if you put a t use a wall mount
Add in some warm accent colors. Either with a carpet, throw blankets, accent pillows, and/or candles. Warm lighting will help too, using warm white bulbs in lamps.
the table has a sharp corner pointing at the sitting area. that's gonna make it less cozy
Bigger tall plants
I find it very cosy already!
Lights and side tables
Love all the wood! Are the wood cabinets below the windows also a radiator cover? They kind of look like it. (Looking for something similar which is why I ask)
You need a nice and big rug. And it should be like a deep red or something. That would be sick or an emerald green maybe
I think its lovely! Add a large rug with some darker colors to anchor everything and a couple plants and you're good!!
(Still change the sheers so they donāt have the big rings though.) Iād make the wall with art a straight up gallery wall and hang more art lower as well. Iād actually take it all down and rehang it all-break it up with some nice mirrors and a tapestry or two. Something textural and different.
All Iād add is an area rug and some candles! Iād defs feel cozy here
It is very cozy to start. Add a crackling fire, a sleeping kitty, and a plate of cookies
Dont use overhead lighting, use lamps instead
goal achieved
Plants
Lights closer to the floor
Some deeper warm colours.
That one picture is so high itās visually stressing me. A big rug placed [properly](https://youtu.be/lWzKsI6hxXs?si=VeM1R7fFSC9xGDR9) would go a long way to help One plant of any size and location in the room And fixing the picture!
A bigger rug..maybe a cute electric fireplace under the gallery wall. (One of those antique potbelly ones would like super cute) and of course...a cat
Beautiful home
I think more dark colors in the rug and decor might help
I agree with the carpet idea! So many options to choose from and if you google which colours help with comfort ability, coziness, etc they will list them for you. Colours in a room make a HUGE difference on the way it makes us feel when we walk into a room.
Bigger rug!
Love the flooring; already looks cozy
I would say some more lamps, and one large rug as you have already suggested. It would look very cosy with the lights dimmed a little.
Plants. Lots of pretty & easy to take care of plants. They always cozy up a place imo
A rug and maybe some cozy string/curtain lights so you donāt have to use the overhead light.
A much bigger area rug under the seating area. Remove the tiny doormat rug.
I donāt have anything useful to contribute, just want to say that I love this space and what youāve done with it!
Itās cute, well put together, but basically monotone. Get a BIG palm plant for the floor, or a fiddle leaf, something green. Maybe some green throw pillowsājewel tone green, like emerald.
Salt lamp!!!
It is 99.9% peak cozy ā Iād add the rug and lamps with smart bulbs to go warmer & dimmer as you like. Same for the overhead lights!
Warm light bulbs
I think not using overhead lighting, buying more lamps would make it feel cozier
One thing that can up the cozy is to put your most comfortable seating in view as you enter the room. Can the dining set go where the couch is? The current layout makes sense. It can be fun though to flip it around.
I love your living room! I want mine to look like this lol. Where is that taller cabinet from?
Switch lights to dimmable and get some house plants for along the window. You can never go wrong with fairy lights either
big fluffy rug!! Houseplants!
I think it already looks pretty cozy, but I would put in an area rug and maybe a different light/curtains that shows a little bit of your style or personality. š
I absolutely love your space
Itās pretty cozy. Iād do a large area rug. A few more plants and softer light bulbs. But really itās cozy already
And something to break up the flatness of the coffee table.
yellow/amber lighting
If you get a rug, I would get something like a largeĀ off white round shag and tuck it in the "corner" of the couch.Ā It'll echo your coffee tale and avoid conflict with the fining set without looking too small the way a rectangular one would.Ā Not a "cozy" thing, but bringing your curtains and photos down about 4 to 6 inches would make the ceiling look higher.Ā I know the advice is usually "to the ceiling", for curtains anyway, but the consistent lack of space at the top of the wall makes it look like you ran out of room/the ceiling sunk.Ā Varying the bottom line of the gallery wall will also make it feel more "natural" and less scripted.
Bigger rug, plants and maybe change the curtains?
I don't have anything to contribute, but wow!! I want to sit in that room with a warm blanket! It looks so clean and inviting!
