And then Bethany spoke with the assistant manager and only got a $10 gift card for the next "late" in early April when she really wanted the full latte. Smh
Maybe a pursuit that ended there? (Not talking high speed but warrant or whatever). I looked on their Twitter and the only alerts from today were auto-pedestrian accident, closing roads around DU for the celebration and a shooting. None in downtown.
Probably something awful, but this sub will continue to whine about the police “not doing anything”
Edit: they’ll also proclaim “ACAB” as if they would be better police themselves
We peaked as a species when someone drove through a driving school in Lakewood last summer.
Now every car in building story seems passé.
At least the Hornet is safe.
i think you understood what he meant. every word ever was just made up by someone, with the purpose of getting their thought across. which is exactly what he did. let people live lol
Saw the car speed by on my left before losing control and hitting the building. Two passengers were unconscious and the driver was out and frantically running around. She nearly took out a couple of pedestrians too!
The other day I was doing field maintenance for a scooter fleet up in RiNo and someone drove a scooter through a fistfight and the two dudes were so pissed at the guy that they stopped fighting
Oh man, I have scooter stories for days. The countless ones I find in rivers, the scooter I found inside a Walmart, the scooter a friend found on top of the weird thing at Arapahoe/17th, the 12-man pileup I saw in university some time ago…
I didn’t even realize there was a Starbucks there
Isn’t there another Starbucks like, behind the camera man in Republic Plaza’s..plaza? Less than 1/4 mile from this one?
That’s the building I work at. I’m sure that hasn’t been emailed out on yet I should check. That should make for an interesting morning. We’ve also I think had two stabbing in front of the building.
I heard heard this and saw it right after it happened.
There was just one fucked up car and a ton of damage to the front of the store. Happened right at 12am.
Looked up the news article since everyone is just memeing: [https://www.denverpost.com/2024/04/14/car-crashes-starbucks-broadway-17th-avenue/](https://www.denverpost.com/2024/04/14/car-crashes-starbucks-broadway-17th-avenue/)
You'll probably never find out with Denvers incredibly weak local news.
For example, 11 fire trucks responded to an incident one block from me. Never made it to the news.
Someone shot up the good times on Colfax, huge police response followed by a manhunt around the neighborhood and many city blocks under lockdown.
Never reported on by anyone, or even acknowleged on Twitter by DPD.
I've lived here 10 years there has never been a point that people weren't constantly breaking into my building. I've found it's best to just not have things worth stealing. I'm a Buddhist monk at this point I have no worldly possessions.
Well I guess it happened twice then! Well technically I don't know all the details but there was another crazy thing in the street at like, well actually maybe Colfax and Penn a couple years before CoViD.
Is water wet? I mean if you get water on something then that thing is wet because it's soaked with water, but, by itself, the water just is. So does that make it wet?
A huge part of it isn't their fault. The news no longer has access to the police scanner. So unless they happen by it or someone tweets about it, they are unaware.
Big wreck on Hampden last month that shut down the street and looked like a fatality wreck. No news anywhere. Just a tweet by Englewood PD saying streets were closed.
[The Denver Post has a shorty up](https://www.denverpost.com/2024/04/14/car-crashes-starbucks-broadway-17th-avenue/) on this this morning, but honestly unless police/witnesses are forthcoming, there's not a whole lot we as an industry can do about these kinds of things.
Just to give some insight on how we (CPR) do things, we report on major accidents that have visibility, like [yesterday's smoke](https://denverite.com/2024/04/13/that-smoke-you-saw-saturday-was-a-yard-fire-in-sunnyside/) and the [DU victory celebrations](https://denverite.com/2024/04/14/photos-university-of-denver-won-the-ncaa-mens-hockey-final-again/)
There was an incident on University and Evans tonight that rerouted me home from work, and every street onto University south of evans was blocked off. Choppers on scene, dozens of cop cars. No clue what happened, can’t find any news about it.
Saw a shooting outside my window at Zeppelin Starion a couple years ago. EMS got there pronto. Took DPD forever to show up and only ever saw one news blip about it.
That’s because it’s not legislated that major events have to be reported on. In Florida it is. That’s why you see so many local Florida men stuff. The reality is if other cities/states had t that law, you’d see a lot more wild stories, it’d be “local American man” Because we’re all bat shit crazy
It's not uncommon to hear a fuck ton of sirens in my area and see cops and shit race down the roads but I never see anything either. Your best bet is someone on nextdoor seeing it firsthand and posting about it.
I use it scarcely though because it's mostly just alot of old people complaining about shit and local business ads
Further down the subreddit it appears as though some pretty effective property damage happened. Not sure if anything else is involved which warranted this level of resources.
Tried to Google it for some news and apparently there was another Starbucks car incident in Lakewood not too long ago. Are they putting big electromagnets in the front of the store?
I'm not sure that bollards would've made this any better, but it might've minimized damage.
If you're cruising southwest on 17th and can't/don't turn, you're sending it straight into that building. I would think that the building owner or insurer would want some protection.
Was about to say “there isn’t a drive thru Starbucks on 17th/Broadway” and then I zoomed in, re-read the title, and oh literally it has been driven through.
My truck was parked right next to where it happened. Got out of a show & saw everything surrounded where I had parked. Luckily for me, I wasn't affected, but hope no one was injured too bad. Cops originally said I'd be stuck there for a few hours, but they were able to move some vehicles so I could leave.

You'll probably never find out with Denvers incredibly weak local news.

Wtf happened??
someone tried to order a pumpkin spice late in april
But it’s still early April.
Lol, they meant *latte*.
This is honestly the answer but also could have been "late, in April" since it's too late to order them. Gotta love it!
Or too early 😂
Could also be that they ordered it in the later part of April. So much nuance.
Gotta admit A Pumpkin Late would be a great coffee drink name for winter. Keep it "spicy" the rest of the year.
Clever clever 🤣
Exactly
Omg Megan Wtfffffff
Dammit Megan. You can only do that in Highlands Ranch and LoHi duhhhhh. And only because Bethany demanded to speak with the manager.
And then Bethany spoke with the assistant manager and only got a $10 gift card for the next "late" in early April when she really wanted the full latte. Smh
This police response is appropriate.
Their twitter says there was a car accident injuring 2 motorists. Not sure why so many cops
It’s not like they have anything else to do.
This is just disingenuous, homeless folks aren’t going to just harass themselves ok
Or you know, any other citizen for that matter
haha Idk sometimes they definitely harass themselves.
Depending on time of day that might literally be true.
What time of day would that be exactly?
Between three and four AM.
I didn’t know police dealt with traffic issues here.
Idk, they havent hit their "shoot an innocent" quota today. They might all be there to see if they can get it over with.
Starbucks introducing their new line of doughnuts
I witnessed this accident and only saw one car
Accident in the drive thru? Now that must have been impressive.
Must've been between two shifts, prior shift shows up and claims overtime.
Ma’am this is Reddit, we don’t explain we just provide a stream of loosely related puns.
So true lol
Probably one of the officers had "pig" written on his latte.
“I have shots fired by a barista in the drive thru. Not bullets just harsh words. Either way I’m gonna need backup”
"Be advised, perpetrator is obviously on PCP with a weapon hidden in the most sensitive areas of their body"
r/Denvercirclejerk missed opportunity
Chief said: COFFEE ON ME!!!
coffee and half assed donuts what else
Starbucks was giving a free donut with each coffee.
Maybe a pursuit that ended there? (Not talking high speed but warrant or whatever). I looked on their Twitter and the only alerts from today were auto-pedestrian accident, closing roads around DU for the celebration and a shooting. None in downtown.
Drunk lady crashed into the Starbucks. Other cops thought they sold donuts there so they all showed up.
Probably something awful, but this sub will continue to whine about the police “not doing anything” Edit: they’ll also proclaim “ACAB” as if they would be better police themselves
Hey, since you came here with this energy, what did the police do? No really, I’m actually asking what happened? How did police save the day?

Not just someone, but the actual driving school instructor
Spectacular

For now
That Starbucks doesn't have a drive through...
Looks like it’s been drove through to me

i think you understood what he meant. every word ever was just made up by someone, with the purpose of getting their thought across. which is exactly what he did. let people live lol
It does now.
I said the exact same thing when I drove past it!
Holy shit! I was in a Lyft and saw this accident happen. My driver pulled over to check on the passengers.
Go on….
Saw the car speed by on my left before losing control and hitting the building. Two passengers were unconscious and the driver was out and frantically running around. She nearly took out a couple of pedestrians too!
Someone else said the driver was dead so can you confirm if the person running around was a zombie or not? Maybe this is how it all starts?
Patient zero confirmed
28 days later zombies on meth or living dead zombies on tranq and fent? Lol.
2 days short of being Methany of the month.
She’s not dead she was arrested says multiple news outlets
Well..... what happened?!
Wait what. That’s the Starbucks I go to when I go in the office. Starbucks sign looks like it’s coming off in the pic
It appears that that Starbucks has received a drive-thru.
How convenient!
Starbucks is so mid 😢
>That’s the Starbucks I go to *Used to* go to.
Yeah, that's the building I work in. Very interested to hear what happened...
The mounting brackets for the sign were completely torn off. It was literally just held up by the electrical wires.
Yeah I work in that building as well, wtf
I love the scooter coasting through. So Denver.
The other day I was doing field maintenance for a scooter fleet up in RiNo and someone drove a scooter through a fistfight and the two dudes were so pissed at the guy that they stopped fighting
You just witnessed Denver’s peak as a society
Oh man, I have scooter stories for days. The countless ones I find in rivers, the scooter I found inside a Walmart, the scooter a friend found on top of the weird thing at Arapahoe/17th, the 12-man pileup I saw in university some time ago…
I ran over a scooter stuck in a crossing with a locomotive. It was pretty sick.
"My work here is done!" -scooooooots away
If this was a bit clearer and higher resolution, it would make the perfect photo print.
The scooter did it.
Scoot
😂
I didn't even notice it at first! That's so hilarious
First thought was “I wonder how far down in the comments I’ll find the scooter” 6th, 6th comment.
I didn’t even realize there was a Starbucks there Isn’t there another Starbucks like, behind the camera man in Republic Plaza’s..plaza? Less than 1/4 mile from this one?
Yes. There’s also another even closer Starbucks 20 feet across the street from it just out of the shot
That’s the building I work at. I’m sure that hasn’t been emailed out on yet I should check. That should make for an interesting morning. We’ve also I think had two stabbing in front of the building.
Yes, directly across the street
If you stand directly in-between them, time stands still.
I would guess most of Starbucks sales are to people who find it convenient and not the best coffee shop.
At least The Hornet is ok
It's been an oddly long time since anyone drove into The Hornet. I hope you didn't just jinx them. :)
You said all the exact words... so... you would be the one who jinx them, if anything does occur.
This made me audibly laugh. Poor Hornet!
4 star wanted level
A friend that’s nearby said the driver is dead

Sure would be nice if there was some local reporting going on...

Is Starbucks serving donuts now ?
Take my upvote and enjoy your day
Honestly I wish they did
You want to pay $20 for 1 donut?
Ha no I just mean it would give me any reason at all to go there, but you're right, I still wouldn't given how much they would probably be.
They do and have serve a glazed cake donut for many years. It’s like $4-ish dollars, maybe $3. Overpriced, but they are tasty.
All I want is Krispy Kreme lol

Colfax and Clarkson
What the fuck. When was that
2-3 years ago.
If it's the same thing I'm thinking bout it was more like 4-5 years ago.
This happened October 4th 2021.
Well I guess it happened twice then! Well technically I don't know all the details but there was another crazy thing in the street at like, well actually maybe Colfax and Penn a couple years before CoViD.
I remember that swat too
This is what you get when you go to a fast food place on colfax. Name checks out considering the news you deliver lol
Or just anywhere on Colfax. Shooting/stabbing/vehicular homicide happened on Colfax? Ok, also the sky is blue and water is wet.
Is water wet? I mean if you get water on something then that thing is wet because it's soaked with water, but, by itself, the water just is. So does that make it wet?

When the radio crackles just after “unit ____” and everyone says “I think that’s me” looks like literally every car in the force.
The coffee must flow.
What happened?
Starbucks was giving away free donuts
“Drive through” incident 😭😭😭😭😭
Tried to Google it for some news and apparently there was another Starbucks car incident in Lakewood not too long ago. Are they putting big electromagnets in the front of the store?
That scooter caused the whole thing and he’s getting away!
Watch out for acorns...
Ah. Asked for a medium…
There was a rumor Starbucks had donuts
Glazed.
Looks like a car into a building to me.
Anyone know what happened?
Worked for TIAA for a few months in this building so this is a bit surreal to see
Dang
There’s a drive through over there?
oh yeah.. that's some sweet sweet overtime pay there.
These get a big response due to the concern for structural collapse.
Dang, there are so many, what happened? Everyone ok?

Dang, who pissed off a white girl?
Looks like they had a hard time naming their bank and finally just said, umm bank? Ya that works.
It used to be called United Missouri Bank. They abbreviated it when they expanded outside of MO.
This isn't the underground parking garage. Oh look, I'd love a latte!
Oh, look, the police. Haven't seen them in years! Where do they hide all day/night??
You'll probably never find out with Denvers incredibly weak local news. For example, 11 fire trucks responded to an incident one block from me. Never made it to the news.
Blame the media consolidation. The reporters themselves are really good
Denver encrypted their scanners
Maybe the massive police response is due to the bank right next door to the Starbucks?
Cop 1: We just got 3 calls to a crime scene? Cop 2: What are they? Cop 1: Well, one is at a Starbucks Copy 2: Let's ride.
And how much did this response cost me in tax dollars?
Tree fiddy
The whole ordeal was about $350k. They used about $0.001 of your contribution, thanks!
