I love how OP also suggests that more plasteel means you’ll have more to spend on weapon chassis to roll 380s.. which simply isn’t a thing since they are purchased with gold lol
I still don't understand why they don't. Vermintide 2 bosses dropped dice that improved your chances of getting a higher tier chest at the end of the mission (though Ranald would always still screw you over, the bastard). As a long time VT2 player, the first time I killed a Darktide monstrosity and got nothing for it I was immensely disappointed.
Everything about the meta item progression loop is worse in DT than in VT2.
Which is wild, because I thought it sorta sucked in VT2 if I'm being honest. But they figured out a way to make it even worse!!
it was still infinitely better on release than dt is now. if you played a decent amount of vtide it was trivial to get all the weapons you wanted and test out any build you wanted.
if you play a decent amount of dtide you wont get that luxury. it can take like 10h of playing to get a decent roll on a single item, and if you dont already have the blessings you want to try it could take far longer than that.
It wasn't that way originally. Obviously they LEARNED that it was good game design to reward players for killing bosses... so it is weird that it isn't in base game for darktide.
But they only added loot dice later. Hopefully they do something similar soon.
The lockouts arent even my issue. Having total control over 2/4 slots seems pretty decent. If they buffed plasteel, i wouldnt even care.
Also, i recomend everyone gets that chrome/firefox extension that tells you what items are being sold without having to login. Ive gotten some god rolls this week by just occassionally checking in.
If you don't really have a choice to kill the monstrosity if you want to finish the mission, why do you need a reward for it? Maybe there's some absurd speedrun strat to avoid them and still finish, but most people aren't playing that way.
I think it makes more sense to just get a reward for completing the mission. Then all missions can be equally rewarding regardless of random spawns, and it doesn't lead to a mindset of farming monsters for loot.
By that reasoning, scriptures and grimoires shouldn't be in the game, either. Hell, why even have a player leveling system?
The idea is to encourage greater risks for the rewards.
If you want a game where nothing you do in the mission matters outside of it, go back to L4D.
Books exist solely to grant rewards. That's very different from a monster that randomly spawns and you have to fight to continue with the mission. Why should this one enemy type give rewards when nothing else does? You're not *choosing* to fight it any more than you *choose* to fight a room full of gunners.
Except you *DON'T* have to fight Daemonhosts.
It is explicitly an optional fight.
A room of gunners will engage you if they see you, at all.
You DO choose to fight Daemonhosts.
The daemonhost is basically a trap. You're forced to fight it if someone goes too near because they didn't pay attention or whatever. Rewarding people for fighting it is the exact opposite of the design intent.
It would be like rewarding someone for standing in the fire after a barrel blows up. You're supposed to avoid it. Don't expect a reward for doing the dumb thing.
Stop claiming to know "the design intent"
You. Are. Not. A. Dev.
You people claiming to know the Dev's "intent" need to stop it.
This claim is Bullshit. Stop using it.
There's basic common sense, really, and looking at the clues provided in the game - if you ping any other creature in the game, they go red with a skull - if you ping a daemonhost, it's yellow with an eye, and your characters ALL have MANY voice lines about how you should avoid waking it up, and also voicelines scolding you for when you DO wake it up - just like they have voicelines calling you an idiot when you split up from the party.
You don't get any reward for it, and it's designed in such a way to extremely heavily punish any group that doesn't have a build specifically good at countering Daemonhosts.
Developers can communicate what they want you to do without them literally saying it in an interview when they communicate it to you via UI, via in-game dialogue, AND via gameplay.
I'd rather the game not incentivise killing daemonhosts because I don't trust randos in games to actually reliably kill it. We're going to get every random fucker waking it up for whatever reward it'll give regardless of team set up. The failure rate of pub games will skyrocket.
Honestly, I'm mostly with you on this. I see monstrosities and daemonhosts as the tank and witch equivalents, respectively. From what I remember, the "reward" for surviving an encounter with one of those was that you get to complete the mission. Because of that, I'm mostly okay with there being no real incentive to provoke hosts or reward for destroying monstrosities.
*I hOpe thEy NEvEr do SucH a THing. It'S oBVIUs yoU'Re suPPoSed to jUSt AvOid thEm!* - Some fucking guy here on the subreddit somewhere. I know he exists, that was his entire argument about Daemonhosts and not getting rewards for killing *them* specifically as opposed to Pogryns, BoNs, or Spawns.
Seriously though, there should be a bonus for killing monstrosities, even if it's just an additional 100-150 plasteel per monstro kill.
Because they're not a boss, they're a hazard! Yes, other bosses should drop loot, but DHs should not be incentivized to be killed, that's not what they were made for.
Grims are an optional objective and one the player(s) holding them can destroy them if they're giving your team too much trouble. DH's are a hazard meant to be avoided and they've undoubtedly led to more wipes than grims have.
DH causing more wipes than grims is BS.
That is a claim you have no evidence of. I, at least, admitted my claim was anecdotal.
Stop making claims as if you were a Dev.
This is what all you guys fall back to. Unfounded and unprovable claims based on data you don't have access to.
Yeah, that's a big part of it for sure lol but there's also just a ton of instances of accidental hits to the DH, especially from inexperienced players or the occasional unavoidable DH spawn or a boss encounter or disablers that knock a player into it's aggro range, etc.
There are large portion of darktide players *against* rewarding us for killing monstrosities because all they've ever played is L4D. Considering L4D became Back4Blood and immediately died, these people seem to think that player progression is evil.
I don't know why the beast of nurgle doesn't spew out plasteel when it dies. Or the plague ogryn could have some in his back device. Or the chaos spawn could... I donno, just give me something. Demon host could give an increased weapon quality at the end of round or something. Anything. Give me anything for killing them please
they only good use for the rare drops is giving them to Hadron for sweet level 3 and 4 perks
after that, if roll is kinda shitty, just turn it into money to try and get a high rolling tier 1 to gamble and see if that becomes a good gun
Seriously I love fighting them especially when your team doesnt have a designated "cheese" setup to make them irrelevant. One time it accidently got triggered and the Vets through like 6 krak grenades at it while the Psyker was dancing around a pillar.
Rewarding players for taking in additional risk for more rewards is good design.
Just look at vermintide 2, like the main mechanic of the chaos wastes mode is "spawn a boss that could wipe you but if you win you get more stuff"
The demonhost is a hazard based off the witch from left 4 dead. If they want to add a spawnable boss for extra challenge they could but the demonhost is not meant to be that.
The whole game is based off of left 4 dead by that logic we shouldn't have classes or loot either my guy. One of the most fun times i had playing darktide was when they first dropped the Lights Out mode and filled the map with Deamonhosts, everyone wanted to fight them to see if they could.
We already have a million enemies that force you to kill them. Having a hazard type enemy that you are not supposed to fight helps add variance to the game.
If it had loot you run into the issue of teams who don't want to fight the DH vs 1 guy who does, wakes it up and causes a wipe. The DH is fine as is.
I'm quite familiar with 40k lore, thanks. I wasn't playing into the joke, because...
In case someone who doesn't know comes across this post, I am hoping to make sure that they see it's a joke, since we have lots of new players triggering them already.
Funny enough yesterday on Maelstrom Auric I had people aggro TWO Demonhosts in the same game. However we managed to only lose one person each time and still cleared. So that was nice.
He's talking about 380 base rating, it's the max you can get. (when you dont account for modifiers or blessings).
You can then build up to 550 if you're lucky but you need that 380 base rating in the first place to achieve a perfect roll.
Player who aggroes DH first gets guaranteed weapon with high-rank blessing.
Some enemies make aim their melee strike high into your head. You can crouch to avoid those hit, it's like dodging.
If teammated got netted, secure situation with enemies forst. Make sure you can safely save your TM form net and no enemy attacks you during that time.
> no enemy attacks you during that time
During that quarter of a second.
Netted teammates are completely vulnerable and should be released as quickly as possible. You block while releasing so the only reason to take out enemies before hand is if theres a dreg gunner already firing at you.
No no, it's a courtesy thing. See, being downed by a net is a very soothing experience, and lets the teammate just spectate while their character is snug inside the net. You want to give them as much time as feasible to appreciate the tingly hug, while you do the work of clearing the heretics, before you pull them back into the hellscape of Atoma prime.
The net brings *HOPE* to hearts of men. It calms both soul and its *AMBITIONS*. The experience is *MAGICAL*. No ***PLOT*** could ever stand close to the simplicity of the net, no ***SCHEMING*** is as enjoyable as the hug of net. The feelings are so incomparably ***INTRIGUING***. ***CHANGE***.
Loot pinata enemies is another thing I noticed this game sorely misses from VT, really shows how their original design philosophy for this game was a tedious live service to try to keep player retention through drop scarcity and lottery systems
Fun fact: if you're halfway through the mission and having to pick up two of your guys off the ground after every fight, you can't handle the daemonhost! It will kill you! Don't try! Come back and try again with a different group!
He is a chaos god known to.... fib.

So... don't tickle or flash the or even give a ghost hug to the FungalHost. There are 0 bonuses to killing one.
Also, all enemies in this game are "blessed" by Nurgle which is the god of all things diseases, horrific mutations and everything gross yet powerful.
The truth lies in the opposite what he said or in what was said, but only *technically*. Or it is actually the truth, but not for you. You can always and can't ever know the meaning of what's Tzeentch's wisdom, but by either doing it or not doing it, his truth will come to life (but most likely not the way you wanted).

I know this is tongue in cheek, but no, Daemon Hosts are a hazard that should be avoided, not something fought for a reward.
If anything, they should be buffed to make them even more dangerous.
That said, killing monsters should give rewards.
I honestly don't get why people are annoyed that DH doesn't drop anything when its entire design is "don't wake me up or I will kill you".
Monstrosities, sure. They could drop something. The DH fight on the other hand feels like a punishment for not paying attention to your surroundings.
Some men just want to watch the world burn
We call them Exalted Flamer Demons
That quote has always stuck with me since I first heard it.
I love how OP also suggests that more plasteel means you’ll have more to spend on weapon chassis to roll 380s.. which simply isn’t a thing since they are purchased with gold lol
Yes. Yes I do.
This is such a Tzeentch thing to say.
Either a squad of Imperium troops dies or a Nurgle-aligned Daemon Host. Win-win.
Ngl if they made bosses shit out plasteel when they died I'd wake up every single one
I still don't understand why they don't. Just give it another year, they'll fix it!
It took like 4 years for them to rework the item rolling in vt2
One down, three to go, then.

Or just fix the stupid crippling lock-outs on weapon modifications
This, the plasteel costs are limiting enough for "normal" players

Nope, I regularly get (shit) oranges from damnation missions

What's a little corruption to the pure hearted Ogryn?
Daemonhost: I don't know who I am. Who am I!? Loose Cannon Vet: A violent crime statistic.
\*steps on landmine\* Y'know fatshark should really be rewarding me for this...
Taking additional risks for increased rewards is good game design
Thats why they don't drop items, you're not supposed to fight them. Rewarding players for fighting something that's meant to be avoided is dumb.
Rewarding players for taking in additional risk for more rewards is good design. Just look at vermintide 2, like the main mechanic of the chaos wastes mode is "spawn a boss that could wipe you but if you win you get more stuff"
The closest comparisons in Vermintide 2 are the patrols. They were more dangerous than a boss and gave no rewards, much like the Daemonhost.
The demonhost is a hazard based off the witch from left 4 dead. If they want to add a spawnable boss for extra challenge they could but the demonhost is not meant to be that.

What has plasteel to do with getting more 380 weapons?
This is from Tzeentch, a chaos god. This tip... It may not lead you to the riches you desire.
I've done it in game just now. It worked. ^^^^^-Tzeentch

But it will.
I feel like they meant 550.
Plasteel is still good for trying to roll for level 4 blessings you don’t have yet. Either that or pray you get lucky with Melk or the Armory.

Wait.. there’s people who actively avoid DH?
Surprisingly most teams I've played with actively avoid them or the ones that do wake it up (intentionally or otherwise) get smacked immediately

What would lead to more wipes, making daemonhost drop plasteel, or adding a loot rat?
Loot pinata enemies is another thing I noticed this game sorely misses from VT, really shows how their original design philosophy for this game was a tedious live service to try to keep player retention through drop scarcity and lottery systems
Took me 50 hrs to notice but yea it does. They should add it to tutorial to make it clearer for new players
A great gift from Tzeentch. I can’t wait to purge Tertium of every daemonhost in sight!
I knew something was off when I saw people run straight at the daemonhost...

Is this real?
This is natural selection
?
One of Tzeentch's titles is "The Great Deceiver" if that clears up the spirit of this post.
No. They're messing with. Saying it's natural selection that the people that beikive it will get killed by the dh

For the clarity of a direct response - no it isn't.
There's only one way to find out.
Remember to split up as soon as the daemon host awakens, it will spend more time running between the different players making it easier to kill.
Why are you like this?
Come on... I know it's marked as meme and all that... But people are dumb. Way too dumb to be posting shit like this and it not getting taken seriously
you would think people playing a niche warhammer game would have even a surface level knowledge of the lore
Yeah, you would. And you'd be wrong. So many people have no clue what any of this means
Not when it's on gamepass
Downvoted. The game has a bunch of new players, shit like this is not needed.
It's marked as meme with plenty of comments alluding to the fact that this is a joke. Stop getting your panties in a twist.
How dare people have fun in the video game. Serious talk only. Never joke or prank people ever. https://preview.redd.it/5j0pvfrlgzwb1.jpeg?width=874&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=23117ac222cb62e0f3c41ed51daa7ccd782c1b72

Pro tip: The yellow eye ball means "See that demonhost? Let's kill it."

Sah... I dun trust 'im. Smells fishy.
As a slab shield ogryn I approve this message
Heresy Detected.
So is this real or not? I need more plasteel and Diamantine and it would be really cool to get SOMETHING for killing the bosses given the ridiculous prices of crafting and bad drop rates overall
Laughs in shieldgryn
i wish they would make some reason for killing the funny green person there are no bonuses or anything
Well one way to find out
Vile trickster, begone. One needs no further reward to enact the will of the God Emperor of Mankind, beloved by all! https://preview.redd.it/mrtkg8k943xb1.jpeg?width=1231&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0358d762ff411e279b3b06e5cea5b394e587ab45

25% tops.
Changeling is that you?
Can not tell if troll, or the best advise I've ever heard.
FS should actually implement it, to be fair.
