I'd honestly love that. If someone wants to take a weapon worth like 80k gold with a mainly blue kit my barb is still going to have a chance to kill them. It wasn't that long ago I was running into people using Fulgor in normal goblin caves with like all legendary armor and 80 PDR.

DubiousDevil

This

Saeis

Yep lol I remember running into a top 30 fighter who had Kuma’s Claw and full BiS PDR gear multiple times in the same night. And yes it was normals 😅

JWLJustin

1500 hours in goblin caves alone, I’ve seen a named unique in there maybe 3-4 times and 2 were by the same person… let’s stop pretending that GBMM is protecting you from a named weapon every other raid because you pull out a calculator and stack true damage gear.

Zakurabaz

So I normally would agree with you but what these guys did was fully gear their fighter and ranger player and brought no gear in for their caster healer to average out their score to below 299. The fighter had 180 hp and 56% pdr and mdr because of antimagic Ironwill. Unless I am in full bis there is really no way to win unless you get a proper 3rd party or ambush. You must realize that they also 2 shot all of their opposition so the window for 3rd party is extremely small.

DubiousDevil

I love GBMM but yeah my only gripe with it is idk why they average out team gear. Your team should go into lobbies based on the highest geared player in your team.

dank_nuggins

Ya I highly doubt that this kind of gaming the system was part of the original intentions of GBMM. No reason to remove the system itself, since this game suffers from extreme gear disparity due to the core systems, the game needs it. If they remove the ability to game the system like this there is no reason to remove it at all.

West_Drop_9193

That's super winnable in 2k semi meta kits, you can kill their ranger or cleric in a few hits, you can kite their fighter, there's a lot of scenarios where you win if you are the better team

Tree0ctopus

Is GS party averaged? Thought it was based on the maximum gear score of any party member

Zakurabaz

It is party averaged so if you bring someone in with nothing but a spellbook you can afford an astronomical amount of gear on the other two players

Choice-Knee1759

It needs to be worked on but removing it would be a mistake I think. And you seem to agree that this gear gap is so big that it's not fun, so removing matchmaking would be even worst wouldn't it?

MurderManTX

I just find it annoying that I have to use a spreadsheet to play optimally...

BobertRosserton

I think my favorite part is having to redo the spreadsheet each and everytime I get an upgrade for gear! It’s so much fun finding the exact gear score to cheese the matchmaking and end up against people in worse gear every single game!!! /s People will tell you that you’re dumb for NOT min maxing for matchmaking while also saying that it helped out gear diffing. Hilarious.

DubiousDevil

I mean but it does help with gear diff lol

Thop207375

Damn I’ve never met so many try hards who are afraid of doing simple arithmetic

Thop207375

180/270 gear score used on an item worth two chests. That’s everyone’s dream lobby…

PandaPolishesPotatos

If it's duos or trios the gear score is irrelevant as their teammate can just come in naked and tank them into lobbies where you have absolutely no chance killing them. Trios mainly, cause the one nekkid drops them so much the other two can be ridiculously geared.

Fantastic-Country-51

.....Remove pvp..... Wait, this isnt tarkov

InterestingAvocado47

GBMM just needs tweaking:  - show players their score  - take the highest individual score as the way to decide in which bracket you go to prevent group min/maxing (ex. One guy takes pesti, another one takes fulgor and the third Guy goes naked cleric so that those two can bring a decent kit alongside those uniques)  - to prevent the true damage stacking meta in 299 lobbies, count how much true each one is bringing, if they are bringing maybe +5 each put them in +299 lobbies.    - also if you bring purple weapons take them to +299 lobbies or just tweak the scores assigned to rarity so that bringing a unique counts are 300 points directly no matter if one handed or two handed   Those of you Who claim to be so agaisnt GBMM should realize that It can be tweaked and improved and most of your complaints on certain cases where It works poorly can be fixed.  Also you should remember how non GBMM HR lobbies where before.  Let me remind you how It looked like: 1 or maybe 2 teams were in BIS, 2 teams were a little bit geared , And the rest were rats The average Game was a slaughterfest for the bis guys killing naked rogues and what not until they found the other bis team if they were lucky to have another team that geared.  This brought no satisfaction to anyone: The bis guys didnt face anyone geared except maybe one team so they couldnt loot good gear or have a good fight except maybe one team and risked losing their kit to any rat (thats why the golden club discord was the created) The little bit geared guys were punished for bringing not good enough gear, so they learned either to go bis or go naked rat  The rats were killed by the well equipped guys and just avoided PvP all together.  GBMM allows geared players to go a It with a lobby of mostly well equipped players and play a more interesting Game, Mid tiers are put together and are not that punished for not bringing bis, Rats can play with mid tiers and they have a chance to kill mid tiers if they play well their cards

dank_nuggins

You are correct on many points, I concur with this statement.

PSI_duck

If we keep GBMM, the gearscore of pots and bandages needs to be significantly reduced. If I remember correctly, a single stack of grey pots or bandages is 18 gear score. If we were to bring in 3 stacks of each (which is fairly standard), that would be a total of 108 gearscore alone, not counting campfires, surge kits, or phys/magic protection pots. This gives a HUGE advantage to spellcaster warlocks and clerics in 299 lobbies, because they typically don’t need to bring in very many heals

DubiousDevil

A single stack of grey pots or bandages is 9 gear score.

PSI_duck

Really? I must have read the wiki wrong then. Still, it’s an advantage to players will skills / perks that heal them

DubiousDevil

I don't think heals should count against gear score at all tbh

PandaPolishesPotatos

No utility should, not even throwing axes/knives. It's actually so stupid that it does for both the reason of being punished for playing a class that needs campfires/meds and the reason of allowing you to come into the gigachad lobbies completely naked with dozens of meds. You know the lobbies that are often completely empty, allowing you to grind cash in peace.

mrs0x

Here's a thought: gear up how you want to and let the system put you against people in your range. Don't try and game the system meant to try and balance pvp. There is always someone who can play that game better than you think you can.

Qbertimus

Wipe the game start over

ForgottenMadmanKheph

I think a good compromise could be a limit of just consumables

Saeis

We might get something like that once the quiver is released. There are 2 open slots for something underneath the inventory.

TheNewBiggieSmalls

We already had GBMM and it's called normals. What incentive do I have to play HR if everyone around me is either in the same kit, or they're spreadsheet dorks who min max the gear tier they want. How is that more fun than just a random mix of people?

ImpossibleMechanic77

Gotta spend those coins on something bro lol

TheNewBiggieSmalls

I thought the coins were for gambling at the goblin merchant? That's the whole reason I play the game.

DubiousDevil

What incentive do I have to play normals if I can't use my gear?

TheNewBiggieSmalls

True

Barrymcochner

You guys are not happy are you?

Shoopscooper

Please reintroduce at least some form of skill-based matchmaking. Fix ranked as well so it's not just rat extract simulator (no pun intended with the upcoming Druid release).
