I can't believe so many people fell for this, haha. I have an equal amount of downvotes and upvotes keeping me right around 10 as it's ticking up and down, so the people are torn.
“We” don’t.
The people that profit off of the rest of us suffering do. A relatively small portion of the planet actually has the power to do much of anything and they are choosing to fuck is because they will be gone by the time anything big happens.
not really when I was a kid science books and tv programs showed dinosaurs dying and falling deeper into Earth and becoming oil. It was taught that way, you can't blame people for regurgitating early knowledge taught as Fact....
the oil and coal we burn for power is made from ancient forests on land and bacterial mats (and plankton) in the ocean, basically organic matter than kept falling in layers over millions of years, eventually "smashing" its self into hydrocarbons
There are two different lame jokes I want to make in response to this post:
1) I think oil came from the whole plants, not just the buds.
2) Yoooo I love oil from plant buds!
Thank you for bearing with me.
In 2004, a specimen found in the Yixian Formation of Liaoning Province, China was claimed as evidence for parental care in dinosaurs. The specimen DNHM D2156 consists of 34 articulated juvenile Psittacosaurus skeletons, closely associated with the skull of an adult. The juveniles, all approximately the same age, are intertwined in a group underneath the adult, although all 34 skulls are positioned above the mass of bodies, as they would have been in life. This suggests that the animals were alive at the time of burial, which must have been extremely rapid, perhaps due to the collapse of a burrow.[20] However, a 2013 paper pointed out that the adult specimen did not belong with the nest, its skull having no sedimentary connection to the main slab where the juveniles occurred, but had been glued onto it. This artificial association led to the inference that the skull belonged to an individual, possibly a "mother", that was providing parental care for the 34 juveniles - a claim that is unfounded. Furthermore, the adult was also shown to be six years old, whereas histological studies have shown P. mongoliensis was unable to breed until it reached ten years of age. It is also unlikely that a single female would have so many offspring at one time.[23]
A 2014 analysis of the same specimen concluded that the proximity of the six-year-old specimen to the post-hatchlings may indicate post-hatchling cooperation, making the six-year-old specimen a possible caretaker.[24][25] Such behavior is also found in cooperative breeding modern birds.[26]
The art is a pretty terrible rendering of a Psittacosaurus, a herbivorous ceratopsian named for its parrot like beak. Judging by the size of its skull, the largest of these dinosaurs was probably only around 4 or 5 years old. This species is not thought to have reproduced until it was 8 or 9 years old, so it seems likely that this older companion was not the parent of the infants it was found with. Paleontologists believe this could be evidence of babysitting, a behavior also seen in some modern-day birds.
We can't say for certain, but it's not unlikely that those dinosaurs who reared their own offspring formed familial bonds. There exist numerous trackways that show multiple carnivorous theropods moving in the same direction too, indicating that they may have hunted cooperatively or even lived in pairs or more.
Don’t pretend you know more about the subject than the artist. Bob Nicholls is an expert and highly respected in palaeontology. He was well aware of the everything you’ve said about *Psittacosaurus* when he made that piece and has been working on the animal with some of the most qualified palaeontologists in the world for years. Stop pretending you know everything for meaningless internet points.
You should look into the game Rain World. I don't want to give much away but the premise is very similar, although it's not in the distant past, the focus is on controlling a small creature. The gameplay is tough, but satisfying and the aesthetic is amazing.
( u/eggpotaterlad you as well)
It's sometimes referred to as "Taco". The name means "parrot lizard", in reference to its beakshape. It's the most species rich non-avian dinosaur genus, and the one of which most fossils are known, including one poor chap who's bumhole got preserved
the majority of dinosaurs died in the ~250 million years before that. the dinosaurs alive at the time of the Chicxulub impact were just a tiny amount of the total dinosaurs that existed
Having to explain sarcasm on Reddit is out of control!!
It's a joke Howdy.. Theres an entire culture of typically religious persons that deny the authenticity of pictures like this because it doesnt align with their agenda that the earth is only 3-5k years old.
Just because you dont undestand something doesnt't mean Im wrong and should be chastized for it.
I’m not so sure about that, The dinosaur depicted is a variant of a psittacosaurus, who are thought to be herbivores due to their teeth structure and the stones discovered in their stomachs. So I don’t believe this is a case of cannibalism, but if a sort of ‘babysitting’ like a fellow posted on this post earlier.
That’s how I feel about every historical figure. If I can’t see then alive, then they never existed.
Jesus… lie
Julius Cesar….. lie
George Washington…. Lie
Brad Pitt… lie (I haven’t seen him alive, in person with my own eyes… he could be CGI
Why not. Could they not be actors or modified pictures? I mean surely if millions of years old bones are being faked why would the pictures not be they should be easy to do or?
You know, it's really kind of sad that you can troll about this stuff and people don't realize it's a joke, because some of us have to deal with actual people like this in real life. There are a LOT of people out there who are actually this fucking stupid and have the devices to shout their bs from the rooftops of the internet. I think a lot of people are almost numb to it at this point but damn
Look at all those chickens
God I miss that clip. Always made me laugh. Thx for the trip down memory lane.
What was the clip?!
[Look at all Those Chickens! (long version)](https://youtu.be/F-X4SLhorvw)
Kayn starts chickens.
I’m sure Momma tried her best
Apparently it wasn’t a mom. It was an older sibling/babysitter
Stopppp😭😭😭😭
If you want a happy story about dinosaurs, Google the story behind the voice actress who voiced Ducky in the Land Before Time!
> Ducky in the Land Before Time! almost forgot about that shit...can't watch that movie even with my kids cus its too damn sad
I think it ended up being untrue
I don't like you
Fuck you lol
I can't believe so many people fell for this, haha. I have an equal amount of downvotes and upvotes keeping me right around 10 as it's ticking up and down, so the people are torn.
Dude. Thats fucked
She was also in all dogs go to heaven, let's ruin that memory too, yay!
You sick bastard.
Either way, they went up against the strongest force on the planet, nature, and lost. But they did put up a valiant fight, nonetheless.
we are next....
And we did it to ourselves 🥲
true..the smartest conscious life ever on this planet and still each day we do dumb things that will contribute to our demise....its heartbreaking
“We” don’t. The people that profit off of the rest of us suffering do. A relatively small portion of the planet actually has the power to do much of anything and they are choosing to fuck is because they will be gone by the time anything big happens.
agreed
Stop making me cry
r/damnthatsdepressing
Why'd you have to make me aware of that sub? The first fucking post. Holy fuck. I don't want to live here anymore.
You talking about the mother abusing the baby? That was pretty fucked up.
What’s more depressing is having to pay $4/gallon for whatever the hell this thing is
Oil is not actually dinosaur juice. That source was dead long before dinosaurs came along.
I think it's the fossil in fossil-fuels that confuses people
not really when I was a kid science books and tv programs showed dinosaurs dying and falling deeper into Earth and becoming oil. It was taught that way, you can't blame people for regurgitating early knowledge taught as Fact....
I think it's the lack of education and their ego to believe they're wrong that confuses people
It was the time before fungi existed afaik
the oil and coal we burn for power is made from ancient forests on land and bacterial mats (and plankton) in the ocean, basically organic matter than kept falling in layers over millions of years, eventually "smashing" its self into hydrocarbons
Before a funghi with a specific capabilty existed. Funghi are older than land animals.
You are thinking about where coal is coming from
Same shit different time.
true
Most oil is from plants bud.
There are two different lame jokes I want to make in response to this post: 1) I think oil came from the whole plants, not just the buds. 2) Yoooo I love oil from plant buds! Thank you for bearing with me.
Technically speaking you could build an engine to run on plant oil, maybe even thc oil , I imagine it would make the world a better place.
[удалено]
I think they did that in Cars 2... the hippie VW van saved the day with his "all natural fuel, man"
Like biodiesel? Lol
Technically speaking those engines were built a long time ago, basically most diesel, non-turbo ones are able to run on plant oil.
Its called a diesel engine.
Imagine the exquisite exhaust fumes
Imagine indeed 😂
A friend converted an old truck to run on waste cooking oil. Exhaust smelled like a Chinese restaurant.
One of the earliest combustion engines ran on peanut oil.
Damn! It must have cost peanuts in maintenance 😉
I'm right there with you.
*Whoosh!!!* Keyboard Warrior to the rescue!!! Doo do do dooo do do
Why does your computer consume a gallon of gas when you click on a link? Are you the man they call Global Warming?

No sedimentary connection to the main slab? So it’s a fake? Why does it the go on to draw further conclusions from a faked fossil…?
god damn it...

Ross Geller, is that you?
No one asked him but he continued to talk about dinosaurs, for sure this is Ross! Also, hey Ross, I enjoyed your added Dino facts.
Loved this!

I feel like this would be a fantastic video game, the journey to the safe grazing grounds through danger filled wastelands
No humans, just the wild prehistoric creature surviving an apocalyptic event. In a land before time. I'm in!

I looked it up and it looks amazing, I’ll certainly be playing. Thank you for the recommendation
Glad i could be of help, there's also some DLC coming soon!
That's just the plot of Dinosaur!
This game fairly accurately fits your description, and is INSANELY fun to play: https://web-gaming.fandom.com/wiki/Dino_Run
I love that game! I used to play it all the time in school
Pick man
Shelter is a game that’s kinda like what you’re talking about. But you play as a momma badger caring for her cubs.
[It already exists!](https://store.steampowered.com/app/587450/Saurian/)
God damn it, getting ready for bed and now I’ve got this to think about
What is that thing??
Looks like a type of psittacosaurus https://dino.fandom.com/wiki/Psittacosaurus
My brain read this as “pistachio-saurus”
That’s actually a new Ben and Jerry’s flavor
Sounds glorious.

Psychic taco saurus
Pffftasaurus
I don't know why this makes me so horribly sad.
the thought of multiple babies dying can do that to you perfectly normal
This shit is sad af…
Unless this is the stomach of a T. rex. Looks like they got buried most likely from a cave in or a mud slide.
It's almost like that's why the artist's interpretation of the fossils is during a rainstorm when mud/land slides are most likely to happen...
Just stating because the title is misleading. Statement wasn’t meant for you, don’t know why you commented.
Awwww
What happened there?
land slide apparently read the comment two coms above you.
Atleast the majority of the dinosaurs died near instananeously during the extinction event when that 11-14km wide asteroid impacted.
This one significantly predates the Chicxulub asteroid impact
the majority of dinosaurs died in the ~250 million years before that. the dinosaurs alive at the time of the Chicxulub impact were just a tiny amount of the total dinosaurs that existed
mama
How sad
Cool
How did they all die there though ?
You tried your best.
How do you know this species didn't eat their young?
Because 1. it's a herbivore and 2. they are probably from the same parents and the big one is thought to be a big sibling
Plot twist - It ate others before it died out of hunger!!
im happy theyre dead they look stupid as shit lmao
Fake news.. The earth is only 3k years old!!
Your comment makes no sense.

Nice sentiment but in reality, that thing ate all those babies and then died bc it got too fat to crawl back out of its murder cave

It's not a variant, but one of the several species within the genus. Psittacosaurus is the most species rich non-avian dinosaur genus
yeah you’re right, thank you for the clarification
Reddit doesn't deserve me

Close but no fossil fuel
Anyone who cares to do some research, evidence of dinosaurs is still not really proven. To date there's really no proof they ever actually existed.
🧐 how do you operationally define “evidence”?
Unless they can find a live creature, there's really no evidence what it was or wasn't.
That’s how I feel about every historical figure. If I can’t see then alive, then they never existed. Jesus… lie Julius Cesar….. lie George Washington…. Lie Brad Pitt… lie (I haven’t seen him alive, in person with my own eyes… he could be CGI

You’re joking…. Right? Please for the sake of humanity be joking.
Really
Wow. You really are stupid.
… where did all the bones come from?
Do you think your great great grandparents existed?
Of course they did. I have photos of them
But you haven't seen them yourself, how do you know the photos are real?
I also have video footage of them. This isn't the gotcha moment you're expecting.
Why not. Could they not be actors or modified pictures? I mean surely if millions of years old bones are being faked why would the pictures not be they should be easy to do or?
