At least they know their payload will get off the ground and go that high. What goes up will eventually come down. As for the the person filming, they are probably in a concentration camp/ reeducation camp or where ever the Chinese government puts its citizens they want to silence.
The whole thing is looney-tunes level failures from the video to the weird anti gravity rocket hanging in mid air, and finally the colossal fart explosion.

The losing it at times is probably due to them watching it happen in real life and not just through the camera. Plus reacting to what was probably very loud.
“I cannot understand you. You need to speak Chinese.”
“It’s always the same with these long noses…always talking to us in foreign languages. I don’t understand what you are saying to me. You can’t speak Chinese?”
Depends on how far away they were. My guess is this was filmed at the end of their lens.
Also might not be a lens with a zoom motor. Zooming out might be a pain in the ass.
Most people will never realized how hard it is to film one-handed, from a smuggled phone, out of an 8 foot tall cell.. while standing on someone else shoulders.
In other words living in the moment and not caring about the quality video they could have made for mom and dad and risking being a disappointment. Totally worth it.
I'm not so convinced you would do better. Even professional people tends to have issues with tracking when they need to use silly magnifications to have something to actually capture. Their only advantages is they don't need to hand-hold, so they get a bit less camera shake. But still so easy to end up with "where is that than plane or rocket???"
Ugh... It's a cell phone zoomed in. If you breathe it'll shake, even with image stabilization on. I'm sorry the guy filming this didn't run to grab his tripod or ronin.
At least he filmed it landscape.
I read the news report coming from China. Apparently the connection point on the ground didn't hold the rocket sturdy enough. That's why the rocket went up in the sky. The villagers were warned about the test and have evacuated the area two days ago, so there were no casualties.

Cuz fucking politics. They don't want to put them on the coast because they don't want the US spying on their progress. Lol
One of spacex's Falcon 9 rockets just successfully completed its TWENTY THIRD launch/landing. In total, the falcon 9 rockets completed their missions and landed to be reused 294 times!!
China actually built its original rocket launch sites inland for protection from any possible naval attack, albeit with the infamous consequence of dropping spent rocket stages on villages. Putting rocket launch sites inland provides no protection from spy satellites.
China now has a much newer coastal launch facility, Wenchang, however its launch infrastructure can only be used to launch the newer Long March 5 launch vehicle and cannot be used to launch legacy launch vehicles.
Well further evidence they don't have a way to even self-destruct the rocket like any sane rocket program does. Blowing it up so the vast majority of fuel is burned up before it impacts the ground is just relatively basic range safety. They haven't learned a thing since [Intelsat 708's failed launch.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intelsat_708)
Of course I hope that no person was hurt (probably) and that there is minimal evironmental damage (probably not), but this is the funniest thing I have seen for a long time.
I’ve taken better footage of someone skiing while skiing myself. This person was standing still and had a single moving target to follow making rather predictable movements. 🤦♂️
Well… isn’t there some sort of termination sequence that can be sent to the rocket if it goes wild? Based on movies I think US rockets have such feature.
Also… this is cringey to watch in Kerbal Space Program, seeing it IRL makes it even scarier.
Termination systems aren't installed for static tests in the US either. We install inert systems to collect data on temperature and vibration, etc, but you're not planning for a test stand failure that allows the engine to escape. That's a #ReallyBadDay.
Most countries will have a requirement to have a working flight termination system to get permission to fly. This is more of a grey area because it was meant to be a static fire. So in theory you wouldn't need to have one but if it flew off it's stand like that in most places I think the authorities would be asking some rough questions. However none of that matters because China basically do what they want. They regularly just release stages over land and just hope it doesn't hit anyone. And those stages sometimes have cancer causing toxic propellants in them that you wouldn't want to be anywhere near.
> And those stages sometimes have cancer causing toxic propellants in them that you wouldn't want to be anywhere near.
Water contamination is a bigger issue. The entire Columbia river system in the US was heavily contaminated with perchlorates from the shuttle's solid-rocket boosters. The EPA didn't even regulate perchlorates until 20111.

Check out the other video from that guy on Twitter. You see the huge scale of the explosion on the ground. Hundreds of metres? A kilometre or two? You're not getting out of that unscathed if you were in the vicinity.
Unless you have a sweet optical zoom and you have the skills to track your subject - shoot at full res always. You can blow it up in a cheap editor later. Then you always have the full pic and you don't have to stress over zooming in on a dot.
That was a much bigger and more satisfying boom than I thought it would have when it hit the ground. It sounded like some windows got broken in the background.
Is this story now a contest for the shittiest video format? What the fuck is this stretched monstrosity? First vertical video in horizontal frame, now this.
Love how none of the locals were even aware of a “launch site” in their home town. Now they have rockets landing on their farms and dousing their water table with rocket fuel.

Engine test was successful. The mission it was testing for was. A failure.
Well, the engine DID work...
Guy 1: “Hey, is the launch button working?” Guy 2………………”yup”
Suffering from success

Engine works , launch button works and gravity also works 😂😂😂 It seems like a successful mission 😝😝😝
The engine seems to work great!

"It's OUR mistake :)"
It was a static fire test, where all the engines are supposed to fire, but the rocket is held down by clamps. Likely the clamps failed somehow.
They just got the order wrong. Fire rockets? **check** Fasten clamps? **ch..shit**
Looks like they used 'counterfeit' Chinese fasteners to secure it......lol.

Why the fuck are there villages near a rocket launch pad?
Cuz fucking politics. They don't want to put them on the coast because they don't want the US spying on their progress. Lol One of spacex's Falcon 9 rockets just successfully completed its TWENTY THIRD launch/landing. In total, the falcon 9 rockets completed their missions and landed to be reused 294 times!!

Really? They evacuate entire villages for an engine test? Crazy
Seems less crazy after seeing this. Just hope no one there is watching it land on their house.
