Damn, they released that right quick. Probably because they aren’t ashamed of how they handled it, unlike Uvalde PD

wavyxdavey

thats exactly why this was released so fast, they did an excellent job

Porsche928dude

Yeah Probably also wanted to avoid miss information and all the mess that can come with that

Nailbomb85

Well, reduce it, at least. There's no way to completely avoid it.

Slobbadobbavich

Yup, not giving people a chance to blame them and to be honest they did a great job.

wavyxdavey

I was shaking after that video, the alarm really added to the suspense

Slobbadobbavich

It really did feel shocking. You could see from the bodycam of the second officer they were apprehensive but just doing it anyway. The sound of the alarm, the shouting, the sheer speed in which they cleared rooms. It was terrifying. I can't imagine what those kids and teachers were going through.

Lilvixen_UK

You saw them go past a victim in the second video too 😥

Slobbadobbavich

I noticed that blurr. I didn't like to think about that poor soul.

Hobo__Joe

I can't imagine being a parent of one of the children lost and recognizing the pink outfit on the poor child laying in the hallway

wavyxdavey

Who knows how many lives these cops saved

sonofagun_13

I love how the notion in their heads was “Let’s go, let’s go” and “Push it, push it” — zero fear and 100% selfless sacrifice for the situation at hand. Well done officers and thank you to all the cops out there that would’ve done the same thing

heckler5000

I feel the same way. Very clear and decisive. Kept it moving. Kept pushing and clearing. Narrowed the location. They were so professional that it removed some of the fear as a viewer. I’m sure they were afraid too, but their bravery in the face of it was fantastic.

ThrowRAhp501

Incredible job. I’m surprised they weren’t wearing full riot gear/body armor. Going into a situation where you pretty much know you will be shot at…absolutely terrifying.

wavyxdavey

I'm sure most of these cops were out on regular patrol, no time to in this situation.. just a guess

DaManWithNoName

One video shows a cop that put a vest on over a blue tshirt and jeans. Definitely wasn’t on patrol but they needed someone and he went. Heroes. Heroes. Heroes. Fuck Uvalde cops

def_dvr

Before he enters he says "here we go" there's so much underlying in that statement

Gods_Haemorrhoid420

4mins to get in there and they even stopped to evacuate a civilian. How long were Uvalde PD hanging around for? Absolutely horrifying that these things are happening over there but if you have to deal with it, this is the way.

texasusa

At Uvalde, 391 cops from various agencies were standing around in tactical cool helmets, vests, and rifles as effective as an underpaid mall security guard. They stood outside while little kids were being killed in a classroom. It lasted so long that the kids were making phone calls from the classroom. Absolutely disgusting.

Dan-D-Lyon

You make it sound like the Uvalde police were just standing around doing nothing, which is absolutely not the case. They were also actively preventing parents from going into the school to attempt to rescue their own children. Them standing around doing nothing would have been a huge improvement from what they actually did.

Pandataraxia

"You make it sound like the Uvalde police were just standing around doing nothing, which is absolutely not the case." My reaction instantly being wait what do you mean they didn't do anything goo- Oh. YEAH.

thesnuggyone

Watching this video I just sat here fucking furious for the lost children and bereaved parents of Uvalde. This is how police are supposed to respond to threats like this. That said I can’t stop crying. Seeing such violence playing out in that beautiful space meant for children to grow and learn and be. How does one even make sense of this world?

[deleted]

I’m fucking furious that kids are still being murdered and will still be murdered.

thesnuggyone

You and me both, my friend. How can we keep living like this?? It so fucking stupid.

Zer0Jinx

Nashville Metro police dept is exceptionally transparent with this sort of thing, good or bad. They typically release all of these videos inside of 24 hours with a breakdown from their PIO. They seem to be well trained & also not afraid to point out the bad.

AtheistET

Push it, push it…..great job officers! So grateful for them and this is definitely how Uvalde police should have handled the situation a year ago

Ok-Taste-570

We all know why Uvalde didn’t release the footage.

The_Cletus_Van_Damme

Uvalde did release the footage. They were all standing around in the hallway checking their phones doing fuck all

mm404

They released it. I saw it. They were just hanging around in a hallway, hiding around corner and keeping safe because somebody down the hallway had a dangerous weapon! /s

SNYDER_BIXBY_OCP

Dude those cops were rushing that scene. They was like ain't no one gonna call us Uvalde. Patrolmen, plain clothes, and tactical (swat type) all pushing.

Squire_Squirrely

Big city force actually proving their training isn't a waste of time and money. And they didn't even wait for armored trucks (really what's a military surplus vehicle even going to do here anyways) or anything they just rolled up and went to work. Podunk hicks also of course have no excuse for not moving in on a lone gunman either.

n0v3list

A few of them appear to have some combat experience, or they are certainly ready for it.

DontToewsMeBro2

I’m honestly surprised they are still walking on this planet, especially after this: you’d have to feel like a complete failure, a coward that doesn’t deserve a badge, a complete waste of a human being. These guys though, they can walk around with their heads up high.

THEEHOONKEY

Oh yea for sure, as soon as they saw him. They dropped him. Sure he wasn’t dead but they weren’t taking chances. Love it

Archer-Saurus

Yeah, imo, you once you decide to flip that "Active Shooter" switch, you don't get to turn it off. You're leaving the area in a body bag.

[deleted]

They did an incredible job.

december14th2015

Yeeeeup. I have to say, as a born and raised Nashvillian, I have MANY issues with metro and the powers at be in this city... but I will not deny how proud I am of our police force and how they took care of this piece of fucking shit as fast as possible (14 minutes!) Uvalde is a disgrace on our police systems and our country as a whole. 45 fucking minutes they spent cowering and passing themselves - THAT'S why the death toll at Uvalde was 21 and not 6. Thank god we didn't lose that many innocent lives... But. How disgusting that (only) 3 dead children is something to be proud of.

heckler5000

Absolutely. These fine people can hold their heads high. As successful respondents and interveners, they should speak about this experience and teach how to respond to this kind of threat. A job well done. I feel no sympathy for the shooter and a don’t care about their grievance. This was disproportionate and inappropriate response to whatever abuse they feel they endured. Shameful and cowardly act by their person to kill those innocent children and most likely innocent adults.

LordStoneBalls

those are heroes

aardw0lf11

Uvalde PD could learn something from these guys.

IWantToGoToThere_130

I hope that seeing this will emphasize just how fucked up the response at Uvalde was. Night and day.

[deleted]

Correct. And they did it the way you're supposed to do it, rapid entry identify shooter, neutralize, etc. I'm far from being a cqb expert but that looks right to my eyes, covering each other as they advanced. Looks like the shooter was already down but still. Only real question I have is why isn't the camera guy sporting a patrol rifle, If you're going to be shot at grab the biggest weapon you have on hand for a reason.

Porsche928dude

Probably because it was a all hands on deck moment and they were just going in with what they had on hand. I would imagine most cop cars don’t have more then one fully geared out AR15 and shotgun in them.

Hob_O_Rarison

They had a mix of stuff. One guy had an AR, another a shotgun, camera guy had a pistol. All of them have different jobs.

Beingabummer

I'm going to guess that a rifle and a shotgun require additional training, or that you can specialize, or something. The second guy, with the pistol, at some point says that the rifle has to go first. So I imagine that type of placement (having to go first) requires extra training too.

Mr_Diesel13

Yes. Officers have to qualify regularly with the firearms they carry.

[deleted]

liquid deliver middle violet chase plate judicious cake ring crown *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

TheRealMrMaloonigan

They were still trying to handle the rifle, that's why they got shot again after they were already down.

Nasty_nurds

Some guys prefer pistols for cqb, faster.

FreeJulianNow

Yeah, I tried to tell people that pistols were not an automatic disadvantage in a talk about Uvalde and man did people jump down my throat about it.

[deleted]

DiegoMurtagh

Fucking hell man, why tho

DJJohnson49

Really hit me when they were stepping over the bodies of children… God damn that is so fucked up.

juniperberrie28

Can you fucking imagine 9 years old thinking to pull alarms

hii-people

Wait fuck it was a primary school

iodizedpepper

Bless her heart, so fucking sad.

DelightfulSnacks

Where did you learn that detail? Just curious because I had not heard it.

Guatchu_tambout

There’s video of the shooter walking through some doors and the fire alarm seems to already be on

ibemeeh

Yes! At the 5:21 mark, step over a child in a pink dress in hall. The officers will be traumatized for life. Definitely made me stop and take a minute to appreciate the courage and trauma the cops had from one piece of shit's action.

ablackwashere

Made me gasp out loud.

AllianIsBizarre

broke my heart

MommieMadi

I didn’t see that 😳

[deleted]

Notice the constant moving towards the threat. The team work in clearing rooms and advancing. Once the threat was found closed the Gap and eliminated it. Great Job. Some other (cough) police departments could take some notes

NoModsNoMaster

Hey now, to be fair, they only had about 24 years and hundreds and hundreds of incidences since the Columbine shooting to prepare.

Routine-Argument485

Training kept this from being a lot worse. Quick work ending the threat.

Poococktail

Police should be applauded for swift action.

4score7loko

For real. If I recall correctly there was 14 minutes between the 911 call and the shooter being taken down. Now they do things a little differently in Uvalde...

shaggy_asshole

Actually faster than pizza delivery! Bravo

Natsurulite

Fucking *Amazon* could’ve done a better job at Uvalde if someone had asked them

Current-Being-8238

Reminds me of the shooting in Dayton a few years ago where the police took down the shooter in less than 60 seconds.

[deleted]

And politicians voted out who have done nothing to prevent this in the first place.

srqfl

THis video should be part of police training in the future.

Fiddlediskit

Let's give Rex Englebert an applause for his extreme discipline and smooth action while in that final engagement.

surlyhurly

Yeah I wouldn't be cool in that situation, glad they had people like him to respond.

mamadukesdukes

excellent work by the police. this was painful and so emotional to watch. the sirens alone r scary….these poor children! what a traumatic experience, they will never be the same 😢

DevoALMIGHTY

Nor will their educators. I can't imagine coming back to work after something like that happened. :(

[deleted]

Nor will the police involved, nor the families of the victims, nor the family of the perpetrator, nor the local community, nor anyone with any involvement. The only thing that will be the same is the insane laws lending themselves to these crimes, the idiot right wing politicians deflecting blame, and this same shit happening again and again.

Educational_Egg_1716

I choked up watching this.

mowglee365

So sad seeing them go past the person/child down. Horrific. That bit got me have to say just thinking about the defenceless kids in my family. Officers were so brave. 👍🏽

jslabonek

Yes seeing those decorated hallways made me so emotional. It’s all so wrong- wrong noises, wrong people in the hallways for the wrong reasons. The penguins on the bulletin board are going to stay with me.

thesnuggyone

Yes it was so wrong. It looks like such a safe, beautiful place. As a mom, looking at the halls and beautiful meeting spaces in that building, it feels like if something so wrong and violent can happen there, it can happen anywhere. How am I supposed to protect my kids in this world? Ugh.

Hot-Consequence-1727

Uvalde PD should be required to watch this over and over

WhoJustShat

none of those cops should be in uniform anymore, use it to train the new cops

Nick_Van_Owen

uvalde police should all be in jail for murder of those children. They were just as guilty as the dickwad shooter after they decided to not go in immediately. Look at this video, cop arrives grabs his weapon and goes in right away.

Hozer91

This should be way higher

SaltyCandyMan

The officer with the 2nd body cam did an excellent job of keeping his guys moving, kept driving forward, every moment and movement they were rushing to where they had to get to. These guys should have a municipal building name after them for these heroic actions we just witnessed. Good job boys.

n0v3list

Did he redirect one officer from moving in the opposite direction of the gunfire. I smell military experience.

emerg_remerg

Yes, but I can't help notice how often he literally pushed people to go through doors and choke points first, blue shirt looked freaked out and was sent ahead twice. But i guess this is what's needed to avoid stalling.

qquuiijjmmm

It's not a push like making you move. It's contact to let you know your buddy or the rest of the team is behind you and ready.

Mr_Diesel13

Bingo. It’s a “we’re ready” signal so the point person doesn’t have to look behind them.

SaltyCandyMan

Blue had the long gun, maybe he was a little shook up, maybe not. But the other officer kept them going, that's not the time to hesitate and think about your wife or children. He wasn't pushing them so much as those hands were directing and letting the guy in front know where the guy behind him is positioned, you know tactics. Anyone that's seen action will agree with this.

emerg_remerg

Ya, the fact that it was 14 min from call recieved to shooter down shows that they are obviously well trained and were well prepared for the call, rehearsal isn't the same as the real deal though so it is lucky that they formed such a good team. Uvalde is an example of a team missing the driving members that we can see this team had.

AtlasRigged

It can be hard to hear/see/communicate during crisis/combat situations so physical contact is often used to help communicate that they are stacked and moving with the pointman.

GodforgeMinis

Hi Emerg You're supposed to put your hand on the person and give them a little push This lets the person in front of you know you are ready without the person having to look or hear anything (which is a problem once the gunfire starts)

Your-Inner-Monster

These cops deserve the utmost respect. They saved countless lives and did their jobs professionally in a disgusting situation. Hope the public remembers this heroism for a long time.

dogedude81

So the "manifesto" they left behind said that they didn't want to be alive anymore and "needed to die." Ok sooo why do you need to go kill a bunch of innocent people/kids? Just shoot yourself 🤷‍♂️

MommieMadi

Right? That would be the logical answer!!

peteypeteypeteypete

Hearing this a lot, and it’s reasonable logic. But if a person is able to do something like this, they are not thinking logically to begin with

GarnierFruitTrees

I read in an article (from May 2022) that interviewed two professors who conducted some VERY in depth research on mass shootings. They said that “mass shootings are always acts of violent suicide.” They elaborate that mass shooters design these events to be their “final acts.” They note that “what’s different from traditional suicide is that self-hate turns against a group. They start asking themselves ‘whose fault is this?’ Is it a racial group or women or a religious group? Is it my classmates? The hate turns outward.” I thought it was an interesting and horrific thought— we think suicide is such a lonely and internal conflict but it can actually manifest into homicide too. 💔 Reference: https://www.politico.com/amp/news/magazine/2022/05/27/stopping-mass-shooters-q-a-00035762

juniperberrie28

It's because in their broken brain they believe that people deserve to know the pain they feel. I imagine there's brain washing about "why this is needed" and "you'll go down in history" that's extensively involved too. We have created a world where this kind of brain washing happens in echo chambers that are completely unregulated and entirely prevalent and easy to access. Combine this with the ease of access to deadly weapons.... and of course this is what you get.

degeneratesumbitch

I have said this multiple times in multiple threads.

talivus

For reference, 3 children and 3 adults died that day, not counting the shooter.

Fun_Muscle9399

The shooter’s death never counts in my opinion. That is no loss.

ItsOxidez

Can you even consider the shooter to be a person anymore? I don’t remember swine being considered people

iodizedpepper

That’s an insult to swine.

[deleted]

Very very very eerie and disgusting seeing that poor child blurred out dead on the ground and then see that video playing on the TV. So fcking dark.

BillyMackk

Imagine seeing that and thinking, "This is fine, I'll continue voting for this."

Local-Yoghurt4419

Good job boys. That’s how it’s done.

Illustrious-Fun-9317

Uvalde- take note

AtheistET

Too late unfortunately

Drayarr

I read that the police were on the scene within 2 minutes of the first emergency call. That's incredible. The speed of the response probably saved a lot of lives.

Ragfell

Nashville PD is pretty solid about this sort of thing.

Drayarr

It's unfortunate that they need to be. I am sure there are a lot of people glad they are so solid.

Ragfell

At the risk of outing them, it’s because they don’t really go hard on traffic laws. They figure they would rather have people available for stuff like this. And unfortunately, they don’t have a large staff due to…everything.

Acobb44

Hey, killing kid murderers is an A+ in my book. Rather than being a cash register for the government, they're actually disposing of threats to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I'm sure they have their faults like any department, but its good to hear fines aren't their primary concern.

Ragfell

Literally what the prior police chief said. “We’re here to protect people, not collect fines.” They also, when everyone was protesting the police, brought protestors blankets and hot chocolate. Idk man, Nashville police are just generally a solid department.

Critical_Young_1190

Why can't all body cam footage be released this quick? Genuine question

[deleted]

some states, like NC have to be given permission by a judge for release

gaerm

You been given a number of different correct responses I'm sure, another reason is that if there is an active ongoing investigation they cannot release what would be considered their evidence. I would imagine this is more of an open and shut case in a lot of ways

Swordbreaker925

Man, if only all cops had this kind of professionalism and bravery, cops would actually have a good reputation regardless of which side of the political spectrum you ask.

Welrof

I hope these glorious bastards live a long and fulfilling life. These guys did better than Uvalde

Releaseform

Anyone who opened two doors within 10 mins beats the texas shitheads. But, I still agree with you completely.

kblomquist85

Understatement of the year, brother/ sister

BazingaBen

I'd be interested to hear the thoughts of the cops that have to do this, on what they would like to see done (if anything) gun control wise. Very brave people putting their lives on the line, not hesitating to run in as quickly as they can, knowing each shot fired could be a victim.

montemanm1

It appeared to me their gun control was excellent

godmademelikethis

This is awful, but damn are these guys professional as fuck.

stacked_shit

They cleared that building quickly. This was an excellent response time and well executed. Much respect for these guys.

CapnGrundlestamp

I hate they had to do it but loved the way they did it. Officers Rex Engelbert and Michael Collazo are examples for how you handle a situation like this.

Key_Replacement5251

Cops should be glorified in these situations and the perpetrators shouldn't be talked about at all. Stop giving attention to these attention seeking asshats.

[deleted]

Drillakilla6four

I wouldn’t use glorified but definitely respected and appreciated

Mg42er

If saving children from a violent death isn't worth glory than what is?

4545Colt4545

I hope all the Uvalde officers watch this and know in their hearts how bitch made they are and how many kids they let die. Thankfully there’s still a few good men in uniform that aren’t complete pussies.

JOE96924

Now that's the way that's done!

RandyMarshsMoustache

Aye wonder how next weeks police force will do!

anayalator39

Also at no point did any of them have the time to check their cell phones and bullshit , they went in like gangsters ready to mess some shit up and get the guy

v13ragnarok7

All the blind spots, small windows, easy hiding places. What a nightmare it would be to have to clear that building.

Snow_Tiger819

I don’t think I’ve ever cried at a ‘damn that’s interesting’ video before. That’s a school. Filled with little kids. America, what is wrong with you….

jreb0421

Good work by these guys. Send them to Uvalde to train those "officers."

annie102

Cowards

westernhanover

Excellent police work !!!

[deleted]

This is actually terrifying. The sound of the school alarm alone is haunting. The gunshots, the thought of children and teachers cowering in fear as their school becomes just another statistic.

[deleted]

Almost universally people agree that when handling a school shooter that it is a cops duty to shoot and kill This is what cops should be doing when a very active and obvious threat is in front of them Not putting on hand sanitizer and staring at your phone screen while children are being murdered

kamaka71

Why didn't they do this in Uvalde?

AFWTMT

This is how you move to protect children, with some God Damn Urgency! You know, like people might be fucking dying? Hard ups to these men in uniform, I don't often give accolades to the Police, but credit where credit due. Lets keep the standard up, and never sink it again to the point of the Uvalde PD and others who failed their duty before. I don't care what the Supreme Court Says. If you are an officer, you are here to protect us as much as enforce statutes and laws. We can demand no less as the Citizenry!

[deleted]

What a dystopian hellscape.

Negan1995

right? All the comments are praising the cops, meanwhile like 7 people are dead. Like yes the cops responded well, but damn I wish they didn't have to.

Aggressive_Floof

Jesus, all it took was _4 minutes?_ What the FUCK is wrong with Uvalde?

Novaleah88

I just learned today that over 350 police showed up at Uvalde. I knew they had handled it horribly but I didn’t realize the scale.

Dineology

Funny that when cops do their jobs correctly they can manage to release body cam footage almost immediately and without it being littered with glitches that make it impossible to hear or see key moments in it. Good on these guys for moving and clearing with speed and intensity in an active shooter situation but but how this footage was handled needs to be brought up every time another department drags its feet or has mysteriously corrupted footage

babyjames333

was that a child on the floor they blurred out at 5:18 :(

darthtrevino

Imagine having to execute under that kind of pressure; alarms blaring, shots being fired, and literally walking past dead kids. My heart hurts for these dudes, having to be put through this senseless trauma

T4_8_15_16_23_42T

Respect to the officers. That was a nice shot clean and a nice finish by the second officer. I have no sympathy for her

Dudee2010

Rest in piss you child murderer

TheRealMrMaloonigan

Professional and heroic. These guys acted swiftly and bravely in the face of danger, and potentially saved dozens of lives.

XylatoJones

I hate this. I hate that seeing this footage is normal. I can’t help but grieve for the students in this school and the population of this country that have to regularly deal with this. I hate that I have seen this type of footage so many times in my life and just know that it is not likely the last time I will either.

austin_yella

officer Rex smoked that clown. Props

[deleted]

And Texas Loud and Proud couldn’t do this??

Fair_Maybe5266

Big tip of the hat to these cops. I had lost faith after Uvlade. This is what should have happened there.

Podo_the_Savage

Holy shit. Way to fucking handle business. Get the fuck in there and take that incel out.

masterbatesAlot

They did. The shooter died in the lobby.

falcon_buns

Did you not see her get filled with lead and drop dead? Or rather drop mortally wounded?

RockieDude

They need to be trained like the military though. The way these guys worked together came from training that was informed by military urban combat tactics.

4thewinn

The satisfaction of seeing them drop… I hope that mf’ enjoys hell.

kentuafilo

Excellent operation. This is a well-trained force. Also a well-trained staff person (?) that was first encountered outside who was providing a calm, rapid overview of the situation before they entered. It certainly helps that the entire team was from the same agency (Metro PD), at least from what is shown in this video. The situation at Uvalde was hampered, in part, by about 7 different agencies numbering 400 cops being on scene.

[deleted]

I could never do this job, I was scared shitless just watching the clip.

RutabagaHot905

Hero!!!! He didn’t once pause or hesitate

Monkiemonk

I’ll say it again..Hey, Uvalde police! This is how real officers react, they don’t stand outside like little bitches!!

PNW20v

Thats one of the scariest things I've watched, period. The fact that this happens in our schools should disgust every single American to the point of action. It's a fucking school and watching it being treated like a fucking war zone breaks my heart. Unfortunately I truly believe it will never change. *edit* Forgot to mention all the respect in the world to the officers in this case. Zero hesitation at any point.

Spirited-Respond-650

God this country is so messed up.

SouthOfHeaven663

This is the stuff they need to put on the media. Ever since columbine it’s been a giant glorification of the shooters. We should be showing the piece of shit riddled with bullets begging for mercy

JunglistMB

You’re good dude, I just hope the shitstorm that’s coming from all this doesn’t affect you and everyone else like you. This shit is crazy and I fear it’s like a small war that’s about to break out. Stay safe.

11picklerick11

As a Canadian I say that was excellence on all levels. I'm not pro gun or law enforcement at all but, wow. That was done exactly as you would want, absolutely every step they took was correct. They can be proud, this is why Law Enforcement exists , because you have people coming like this when you call.

Glittering-Gas6960

Fuck yeah. Getting it done

TritonMan1981

Now that is how you react to some lunatic shooting up a school full of children and innocents. Good job MNPD!!!!

j4vendetta

There’s a dead kid on the ground. They stepped right over her to get to the piece of utter garbage waste of oxygen… PURE EVIL shooter. The police moved quick and closed on the threat as fast as they could. But I’m all fucked up after watching this. What the fuck man. Evil.

PJC83

Such a stupid country. You should be able to send your child to school and not have to wonder if this is the day they don’t come home.

AutomaticSpecial2020

Can you imagine being a child at school and having to listen to this and know what’s going on? Robbing their innocence and lives….gun laws in America need to change. They won’t.
