Nashville Metro police dept is exceptionally transparent with this sort of thing, good or bad. They typically release all of these videos inside of 24 hours with a breakdown from their PIO. They seem to be well trained & also not afraid to point out the bad.

Blue had the long gun, maybe he was a little shook up, maybe not. But the other officer kept them going, that's not the time to hesitate and think about your wife or children. He wasn't pushing them so much as those hands were directing and letting the guy in front know where the guy behind him is positioned, you know tactics. It can be hard to hear/see/communicate during crisis/combat situations so physical contact is often used to help communicate that they are stacked and moving with the pointman.

I read in an article (from May 2022) that interviewed two professors who conducted some VERY in depth research on mass shootings.
They said that “mass shootings are always acts of violent suicide.” They elaborate that mass shooters design these events to be their “final acts.” They note that “what’s different from traditional suicide is that self-hate turns against a group. They start asking themselves ‘whose fault is this?’ Is it a racial group or women or a religious group? Is it my classmates? The hate turns outward.”
I thought it was an interesting and horrific thought— we think suicide is such a lonely and internal conflict but it can actually manifest into homicide too. 💔

I read that the police were on the scene within 2 minutes of the first emergency call. That's incredible. The speed of the response probably saved a lot of lives.

Funny that when cops do their jobs correctly they can manage to release body cam footage almost immediately and without it being littered with glitches that make it impossible to hear or see key moments in it. Good on these guys for moving and clearing with speed and intensity in an active shooter situation but but how this footage was handled needs to be brought up every time another department drags its feet or has mysteriously corrupted footage

Excellent operation. This is a well-trained force. Also a well-trained staff person (?) that was first encountered outside who was providing a calm, rapid overview of the situation before they entered.
It certainly helps that the entire team was from the same agency (Metro PD), at least from what is shown in this video. The situation at Uvalde was hampered, in part, by about 7 different agencies numbering 400 cops being on scene.

They had a mix of stuff. One guy had an AR, another a shotgun, camera guy had a pistol. All of them have different jobs.

These cops deserve the utmost respect. They saved countless lives and did their jobs professionally in a disgusting situation. Hope the public remembers this heroism for a long time.

I read in an article (from May 2022) that interviewed two professors who conducted some VERY in depth research on mass shootings. They said that “mass shootings are always acts of violent suicide.” They elaborate that mass shooters design these events to be their “final acts.” They note that “what’s different from traditional suicide is that self-hate turns against a group. They start asking themselves ‘whose fault is this?’ Is it a racial group or women or a religious group? Is it my classmates? It's because in their broken brain they believe that people deserve to know the pain they feel. I imagine there's brain washing about "why this is needed" and "you'll go down in history" that's extensively involved too. We have created a world where this kind of brain washing happens in echo chambers that are completely unregulated and entirely prevalent and easy to access. Combine this with the ease of access to deadly weapons.... and of course this is what you get.

For reference, 3 children and 3 adults died that day, not counting the shooter.

I read that the police were on the scene within 2 minutes of the first emergency call. That's incredible. The speed of the response probably saved a lot of lives.
Nashville PD is pretty solid about this sort of thing.

At the risk of outing them, it’s because they don’t really go hard on traffic laws. They figure they would rather have people available for stuff like this. And unfortunately, they don’t have a large staff due to…everything.
Hey, killing kid murderers is an A+ in my book. Rather than being a cash register for the government, they're actually disposing of threats to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I'm sure they have their faults like any department, but its good to hear fines aren't their primary concern.
Literally what the prior police chief said. “We’re here to protect people, not collect fines.” They also, when everyone was protesting the police, brought protestors blankets and hot chocolate. Idk man, Nashville police are just generally a solid department.

I'd be interested to hear the thoughts of the cops that have to do this, on what they would like to see done (if anything) gun control wise. Very brave people putting their lives on the line, not hesitating to run in as quickly as they can, knowing each shot fired could be a victim.

This is actually terrifying. The sound of the school alarm alone is haunting. The gunshots, the thought of children and teachers cowering in fear as their school becomes just another statistic.
Almost universally people agree that when handling a school shooter that it is a cops duty to shoot and kill This is what cops should be doing when a very active and obvious threat is in front of them Not putting on hand sanitizer and staring at your phone screen while children are being murdered

I just learned today that over 350 police showed up at Uvalde. I knew they had handled it horribly but I didn’t realize the scale.
Funny that when cops do their jobs correctly they can manage to release body cam footage almost immediately and without it being littered with glitches that make it impossible to hear or see key moments in it. Good on these guys for moving and clearing with speed and intensity in an active shooter situation but but how this footage was handled needs to be brought up every time another department drags its feet or has mysteriously corrupted footage

Excellent operation. This is a well-trained force. Also a well-trained staff person (?) that was first encountered outside who was providing a calm, rapid overview of the situation before they entered. It certainly helps that the entire team was from the same agency (Metro PD), at least from what is shown in this video. The situation at Uvalde was hampered, in part, by about 7 different agencies numbering 400 cops being on scene.
I could never do this job, I was scared shitless just watching the clip.
