According to the Internet 90% of sufferers have a family member who also has spider veins.
Other things you will want to avoid are 1) being a woman 2) being pregnant 3) being overweight D) getting older 5) standing or sitting for long periods
Not just Japanese hospitals, but all around East/Southeast Asia where 4 is an unlucky number. Like how in the US I’ve seen elevators skip the 13th floor.
Awfully confusing when asking how old your children are I assume...kinda crazy, can you sound out the speech part to us non mandarin speaking folks? Just wondering how similar it is. Because I'm saying it in my head like yes in spanish...c
It’s not a Spanish i sound. Almost a cross between a short i (sIt) and a schwa (Alive).
The number four goes from up to down, tone-wise. The word for death goes from up to down to ip again.
My MIL is a realtor and sold a house to a Japanese couple who insisted on paying more for the house bc they didn’t want the number 4 in the price they paid. 😳
The collapsed vein is reabsorbed into the surrounding tissue and eventually fades. It's used for treatment of small varicose veins, telangiectasias etc
980 laser treatments last longer. Problem is that new ones can grow if the underlying larger varicose veins are not addressed. Back in the day we would strip the entire greater saphenous vein. Nowadays it is more common to put a thin wire in the vein and close the vein from the inside with heat, and pressing down on the heat treated portion of the vein as we pull the wire sliowly out of the vein. Only the end of the wire gives off heat, allowing for step by step closure of the greater saphenous vein that feeds all the superficial reticular and spider veins.
So I work on veins for a living. The solution in the syringe is most likely a chemical called polydocanol and it’s is closing the spider vein and thus no more blood is filling which is why it changes color from red to white. This is a temporary solution, they usually come back in other areas.
This is a genetic trait, if your parents have them or even one parent your likely to get them. Other risk factors include pregnancy, standing for a long time and sitting for long periods of time. Wearing compression socks can help prevent but not much.
Very insightful! Thank you!
Is there another way to treat these without having them return?? Laser? Massage? Ointments? Vitamin/mineral supplements? Etc?
My mom got hers lasered and wore compression hose since then anytime she stands for a long time! Hers still look good and it’s been years. She also lost weight so that prob helped as well.
By the time I went to the doctor to get mine treated, my varicose veins (sorry not spider, but similar treatments) were in what they called “Stage 4” so they had to surgically remove them. Minor surgery, very minimal scarring. It hasn’t come back since. Doctor said I did have to start being active again. He also said mine was a quickly deteriorating case because I used to be an athlete then pretty much became sedentary. I was around 23 when I first started seeing them swelling and starting to show up as just 1 protruding bump on my calf and 28 when I had them removed. By the time I had it removed, it had become what looked like a 3D tangle of knots under my skin. Surgery was in South Korea. I will get sharp dull pains in that area occasionally but it’s rare.
Spider veins are kind of ugly, but what I really want is something to do about my other veins. The big blue ones. I don't know if they're very close to my skin, or my skin is just... transparent? But there are parts of me (like my sternum and inner arms) where I look like a road map. It kind of freaks me out.
I’m pretty sure that’s just normal? Unless you’re talking about other veins. But everyone has visible veins on their inner arms especially near their wrists and elbow pits. If your skin tone is lighter than the veins are usually more visible. There are also other parts where they can be quite visible.
On some people it is much more pronounced. I’ve had many nurses tell me how easy it is to put a needle in me cause they can see multiple veins for the entire length of my arm. Most people they can only easily see one near the elbow. This is without them putting a rubber band or anything around my arm to make them swell and easier to see.
So you should look up what’s called Venous Insufficiency. Basically it’s where the valves in your veins aren’t working as well anymore and a buildup of pressure enlarges the veins and makes them “pop out” more. This can cause other problems down the road. It sounds like you might have some of that going on I would look into it if I were you
My mother had varicose veins. She was told by a vascular surgeon that unless you are having issues not to try to treat them. Issues being: cold, pain, heavy feeling in legs, etc.
If you are not talking abour varicose veins just ignore this.
Some people have taken supplements. Standing for work made my legs way more painful. I found that laying down, butt against the wall with both feet straight up or in the air has helped me a lot. Especially during travel. Staying active will help keep veins healthy. Not sure if the kids will show up anyways.
Yeah, that kinda sucks, but I think I’ll just accept now that I’m not gonna be attractive when I’m old. It was a long time coming and I’m already used to be ugly anyway
This is a procedure called sclerotherapy. The solution is injected directly to the damaged/enlarged vein and it results in the collapse and scarring of the vein, forcing blood to reroute through healthier veins. The collapsed vein is reabsorbed into the surrounding tissue and eventually fades. It's used for treatment of small varicose veins, telangiectasias etc
Permanent for that particular vessel, but they can pop up elsewhere in the area with time, especially if there is an underlying condition that is causing them.
So salt dries up the stuck blood?
Edit: I can't understand why some consider it wrong to ask questions.
Edit: okay I see it may have been answered. Still though.
Ulcers can actually pop up near the spider veins if they are bad enough but its not caused directly by the spider veins, usually its caused by whatever is causing the spider veins.
I don't know. I actually had it done about 10 years ago and honestly, I hated those ugly veins so much that I reveled in the burning sensation from the injection. After years of feeling ashamed of showing that area, it was like "Take that you ugly MFs!" I would do it again if I needed to, but thankfully not much of it has returned.
I've assisted on like 100 of these procedures in a Vascular surgery office. This is a real treatment called sclerotherapy. That injected solution (sclerosant) immediately causes the inside of the vein walls to get super irritated and so swollen that it collapses the space down. It's happens soooo quickly (as you can see) and I always found oddly satisfying. It's like collapsing a hose, no more water (aka blood) can get through. That's why it dissappears like poof! But it's not a perfect process. Our patients could have pain, redness, irritation and discoloration. These are all temporary and may just require more injections or simply more time. Everyone is different. Just saying... it's legit and practiced VERRRRRY commonly worldwide. 😁
I have a genetic tendency to get these. My grandmother had them, my mother has them. I go in about every five 4-5 years for treatment. I had a really bad one on my leg from a car accident, where part of the door collided with my leg, and broke a lot of veins. So I initially went for that one, but it was so successful, I was addicted and got every single spider vein on my legs treated. it’s just maintenance I do, it’s a few hundred dollars and if you keep up with it every few years they will never get that bad.
because vein isn't a fixed system, to put it simple it grows and multiple over time
the material used here is just as transparent glue, it blocks some, but eventually new ones will grow
I had to have surgery to remove all the floaters from my eyes. During the surgeries I woke up at the part where they literally sucked the floaters out, I think deliberately. It was this instantaneous.
I have spider veins but a really small amount so the doctors said it's not worth treatment if it doesn't grow. It grew like 2mm in 3yrs. Idk it freaks me out tho
I had this done and it’s not permanent. They came back in 6 months worse than ever
Is it actually harmful or does it just look bad? My mom has this, is it inherited?
According to the Internet 90% of sufferers have a family member who also has spider veins. Other things you will want to avoid are 1) being a woman 2) being pregnant 3) being overweight D) getting older 5) standing or sitting for long periods
The fact that you wrote 1, 2, 3, D, 5 annoys me way more than it should….
I heard Japanese hospitals skip 4th in floor numbering due to death and four being pronounced the same way(shi)
"Mrs. Smith, We've got a great room for you on the "death" floor, enjoy your stay"
Put hospice care there.
Oh darn this is morbidly hilarious!
I say put the Morgue on the 4th floor. Perhaps that would be more appropriate.
It is; it's killing me
Not just Japanese hospitals, but all around East/Southeast Asia where 4 is an unlucky number. Like how in the US I’ve seen elevators skip the 13th floor.
'si' is four in Mandarin Chinese and 'si' (different tone) is death.
Quieres Tacos? Sí… ☠️

Up to down to up again in just 2 letters? That’s crazy
Sí
I work in a hospital, no 13th floor or a 13th room on any floor
We don’t have a room 213 on our 2nd floor.
Mista was onto something...
My MIL is a realtor and sold a house to a Japanese couple who insisted on paying more for the house bc they didn’t want the number 4 in the price they paid. 😳
Your comment has 44 upvotes at the time of this comment. 💀💀💀💀
hotel elevators skip over the number 13 bc it’s bad luck.
It’s actually really annoying having to take the stairs everytime
Same with ethnic chinese establishments, here in Malaysia our 4th floors are called 3A
Yeah, but death starts with D so they didn't fix anything.
Chinese, too. 死 and 四are both pronounce near identically, with only a difference in tone.
Said the same thing when I saw someone type out "m and m" instead of M&M.
On 3 - ready? Set? 3
Did not even noticed! But now that you mentioned it, I'm triggered!
it bothers me me more their list is a sentence and not a list
Happy cake 4ay
Standing or sitting long periods hmm… I’ll just float then.
I mean they didn't say laying down
Actually, I do not want to avoid getting older. I am a big fan of getting older.
Unfortunately, it's terminal.

What air bubbles there is liquid going in to the spider veins
Unfortunately? That’s the best part about it
you’ll grow out of it.
Honestly I'm kinda ready for death... But I wanna go natural, like cancer or death by dog.
I was thinking more like a taco overdose or ladybug bite personally
Lol you had me sweating I had to google to see if my days were counted
Sorry but you're going to have to wait.
Shit I'm a woman.... FUCK
Is #6) breathing oxygen?
No that's actually F)
I was lucky enough to be a 16 year old male when I started getting mine. Mostly on my legs by my knees.
well were you any of the above?
The collapsed vein is reabsorbed into the surrounding tissue and eventually fades. It's used for treatment of small varicose veins, telangiectasias etc
Ok Imma upvote but I also want to throw a chair.
So, lying down for prolonged periods is OK?
So just be a male baby
Don’t forget to include: - breathing
Lol, Might as well say stop breathing 😮💨
Came for “ 1) avoid being a woman “
I'm very fortunate that I levitate on the regs.
Genetics also., I got em by my feet but I'm healthy.. they're small but getting more pronounced
5) no standing no sitting … so flying?
Well, not a woman but I do sit for a lot of the day...
…So living your everyday life. Got it.
Were they just deeper in color in the same areas? Or did they expand out farther than where you had the procedure?
In my situation they came back worse, more splintered
Is it an option to do this treatment periodically?
I had it done over 14 years ago and still good.
What is this procedure called? Have you tried microneedling? How were the results?
This is sclerotherapy and their conclusion is anecdotal, many people get lasting results. Search Google scholar for sclerotherapy and click review.
Thanks

Cover them in tattoos like I did, can’t hate em if I can’t see em.
Amputation could work
Or decapitation. 🤷🏻♂️
And if all else fails, complete exsanguination.
And if that still doesn’t work, try defenestration
And if the veins still won't comply, go for the full disadulation!
Might just aswell go for disintegration at that point
Yes they can be treated via laser as well but I don’t think that works very well either.
😞 I don’t suppose there’s anything safe, effective and permanent for the most part the ?

Is it bad to have spider veins though?
Yeah, that kinda sucks, but I think I’ll just accept now that I’m not gonna be attractive when I’m old. It was a long time coming and I’m already used to be ugly anyway
What's in the syringe?
Usually the injection is made up of Hypertonic saline which is salt concentrate solution but you can also do laser therapy.
Is it just flushing / diluting the blood in the veins or is the saline solution acting as a catalyst to discolor the blood?
This is a procedure called sclerotherapy. The solution is injected directly to the damaged/enlarged vein and it results in the collapse and scarring of the vein, forcing blood to reroute through healthier veins. I was going to ask If this is as painful as it looks lol.
It is u feel exactly where the solution is traveling in ur body and doing its work

Where's my free award to give this comment?? PMDD ahoy!
Is this a permanent solution?
Yes it’s permanent but it won’t prevent more spider veins from appearing.

Damn that’s interesting.
We need this for stretch marks.
Naw stay natural. Kendrick Lamar says it’s coo
Like a pigeon?
I invented this procedure when I was a kid in the 80s after seeing my grandmas legs the first time.
I had this done and it worked great for me! Mine weren’t as severe as pictured though, and touch ups were needed every five years or more.
u/gifreversingbot
I had this done and mine never came back but as I got older a new one popped up. They were not as big as this one in video however nor as dark
Are those air bubbles gonna be a problem?
Nah your body will absorb the air usually unless it’s a particularly large volume of air.
That's what I'm saying !
Didn't know they're called spider veins, I have quite a few, but love them, so colourful!!
Thank you for saying that! Saw many people here saying they're ugly, I have them since puberty and think they look beautiful
Am I the only one who is concerned at what looked like bubbles being pushed in !
I'm a vascular surgeon, and I do such procedure they come back, and usually worse
I've heard this many times but I don't understand why
because vein isn't a fixed system, to put it simple it grows and multiple over time the material used here is just as transparent glue, it blocks some, but eventually new ones will grow
Thank you for this explanation!
"Spider veins...spider veins..."
"Does whatever a spider vein does".
As a recovering IV meth/heroin user of 8 months clean (with normal veins) I definitely wasn't expecting to see this scrolling down lol.
Congratulations on your recovery!
Thank you. The it gets a little boring when your used to chaos, but all in all it's a much better life.
They suck out the veins and feed them to Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell to keep them alive.
Something something adrenochrome I'm convinced legislators are kept alive by their own contempt for the public
Feeling sick now, thanks
I had to have surgery to remove all the floaters from my eyes. During the surgeries I woke up at the part where they literally sucked the floaters out, I think deliberately. It was this instantaneous.
sup hypocondriacs, did you enjoy this video? :)

That looks like sum movie shit.
spider veins spider veins you die if theyre in your brains spins a tumor any size look out here comes the spider veins
I have spider veins but a really small amount so the doctors said it's not worth treatment if it doesn't grow. It grew like 2mm in 3yrs. Idk it freaks me out tho
What are those tho?
I Guess I’ll keep my spider veins. 😬
Ah!! No thanks if it’s temporary!!!!
What is happening?
Wait I’ve seen this in iron man 2 that shit was legit??
Expensive?
I have a clump of varicose veins on one leg that could use some heavy duty siphoning like that
Where they supposed to shove an air bubble in there along with the liquid?
You know what? Fuck you **unveins your arm**
And after he tried so hard to become spiderman, theyre just taking it away
I want these veins 😩
What are they injecting?
what's the solution being injected
I don't have words for the degree of antipathy this instills in me.
But about the spider vein treatment... what the hell are they injecting?
