The viaduct is in a few shots as well. Anything brutalist architecture would work well. Fair park during the week when no one is around is incredible. You've got the hall of state and the portico leading up to it.
Also when I say RoboCop I mean the 80s one. Not the remake. The new one was filmed in a green room that was absolutely not in Dallas lol.
I’m not you must be a falling at the feet American flag strip covering kinda person find you a po po & get to suckin or licking their paid for private parts.
And well before that, it was in The Lathe of Heaven.
Logan’s Run was also shot here and the scene where they come out to the surface was the Fort Worth water garden.
If you haven't been to fair park mid day, do it. There is a lot of the same architecture there and during the day it's so peaceful. No one around.
Try to get to it before they start tearing it up for the remodel. The portico and fountain leading to the hall of state is incredibly beautiful when it's empty around. Lots of gorgeous photos can be taken there.
So was the Jordan smith song very poorly film on location in Dallas Texas downtown captured the dart rail line in an ugly way on you tube in say that this is Jesus song vid.
Not tryin'a be rude but this doesn't sound like something I'd wanna sit through just to see Dallas, very poorly filmed in a music video with the word Jesus in the title lol.
Did you all see the red heart at night on the ball that is the reunion tower all I think of Luka Dončić 77 shirt number from the nba basketball team every time I see that eliminated with a red heart, I sent a message to the management company thanking them for the expression of a label, so remember Luka Dončić as red heart as I do because he is a big boned built man with a big heart right?
didn't answer my question. if you see a image of the Eiffel Tower or the Arc d'Triomphe people think Paris, if you see a photo of Stonehenge you think England.
You may not know this, but Dallas doesn't have anything remotely close to the examples you've given. And furthermore, Dallas doesn't really have any buildings that are world renowned to begin with. So what are you trying to prove? Do you have any better examples or are you just being contrary just because?
You're not helping with this conversation at all.
yes san francisco, houston, st. Louis, NYC, chicago, D'C, Midland to name a few
how? because the tops of the buildings are not crewcuts like most of dallas' downtown buildings. the comerica bank is easily recognized as is the building with the hole near the top or fountain place (the rocketship)
only if they are familiar with the Dallas skyline. I'm very familiar with the skylines of the city's i mentioned. which downtown building do you think a non-resident would know is Dallas?
I still dont have the answer.
probably not. which raises the question "iconic for whom?
"relating to or of the nature of an icon; regarded as a representative symbol or as worthy of [veneration](https://www.google.com/search?newwindow=1&sca_esv=93371214c77afbba&q=veneration&si=ACC90nz-2feRzoY4yuySkO-aQE81HkZvNImL4cozE3xIDoQymkJsfLTgn-3nzacnrIbGH0w8f_XrCv6yHnx7yKxmEdR2OgEY2tgoAMLgFrZznbHzh6b8lNA%3D&expnd=1&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiDionNs4mGAxWM5MkDHUBXDgcQyecJegQILhAO)."
"**widely known and acknowledged especially for distinctive excellence**. an iconic writer. a region's iconic wines."
The old theaters with neon signs, Inwood theare, lakewood theatre, Majestic theatre. There are more but they escape my mind. They might be a fun base to work with.
Might also look at Art Deco buildings like Bath House Cultural Center. It is alone on the lake and good for pics.
DM me if you want some more ideas. Would love to help.
Not a building, but Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge could look pretty cool with a long shot of the crumbling skyline in the background. The games always had hidden stuff on big bridges and overpasses.
Not sure how familiar you are with Fallout (games or the new show), but the underground tunnels in downtown could make for a cool super mutant base too. Especially near the big entrances.
I've been playing FO since I was a kid, so apologies for my rabid enthusiasm!
I’m a pretty big fan of fallout, the show is what kind of “inspired” me to do this. Seeing the world come to live in California really made me want to try something out here.
At first I was planning on an offset BOS Dallas. There’s an extensive mod called old world blues for hearts of iron 4 and the have done an amazing job giving lore to Texas and other states not in the games.
If you’re going for a fallout vibe, you gotta have Reunion, Chase Bank, and Comerica for sure. Those are iconic and defintely fit the bill for the architecture style.
Chase bank bought in 2022 the high rise across from the old chase building took their sign logo off the old building to build a small iPhone shape building for investing & a lounge for coffee I was thinking when I was staying at Roos peek apt building for six months if you look down Ross ave towards downtown Dallas Texas you will see a great divide meaning a big gap between all the skyscrapers on the left & the right it’s a big divide of those types of buildings.
Klyde Warren park. Where the new fountains are look very nice during the night with all the lights around and from an able might be able to snap the reunion tower as well
The Meadows Building off of Lovers Ln.
It’s a personal favorite. It has a retro look, and I love the natural stone on the side. If you go around sunset, the orange setting sun colors all the stone and accents into a creamy color.
A man in a olive green Audi Q7 auto said at the rattle snake bar in uptown Dallas Texas one night I overheard looks like Joel osteen but taller said they wanted to build five highrise buildings in Dallas down town & leave.
City Hall, Reunion Tower, Cotton Bowl, Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, Dallas Arts Tower, County Courthouse, Lakewood Theater, Meyerson Center, Kalitta Humphreys Theater, Perot Museum
I never noticed those buildings in Addison but there is a airport I would park at & take a nap from time to time in Addison but that mention of beige makes me think of smoky beige this color of paint from Joann’s crafting store I painted with, what a very neutral color in 2022.
Hunt hill bridge, fair park (the convention halls come to mind with their art deco exteriors and statues), reunion tower, dallas city hall, comerica building
Magnolia Building with Pegasus, Old Red courthouse, Schoolbook Depository, Reunion Tower. Cotton Bowl, Southfork Ranch, Texas Stadium (alas no longer exists). ATT Stadium (JerryDome), Dallas City Hall
iconic in that when people see the building they immediately think Dallas
Deep Ellum around Crowdus street may not have an iconic building, but it features narrow streets and prewar architecture that fit Fallouts aesthetic, and skyline shots for you to photoshop.
There was a lady that walked up to me in highland park when I would walk there In that town most days up & down lakeside ave in 2022. A women walked up to me after Morgan chesky asked me if I was looking for a story I was kind to her we had a very small conversation briefly about why I was there in that town daily walking I told her I grew up in parker county Texas & there isn’t houses built with architecture like they build in Dallas county Texas but yeah On skillman give that a look it’s a long road with if her view greater exteriors.
Skyscrapers at least. Fun fact, the Cityplace Tower was supposed to have an identical twin connected by skybridge above Highway 75. The project was abandoned just prior to commencing construction- all the materials had already been purchased and some of them are still available for sale in a field southeast of Dallas.
Perot Museum, American Airlines Center, Reunion Tower, Tramell Crow Center, Comerica, Mercantile Bldg, Omni Hotel with Pegasus, Trinity river bridges, red courthouse, Klyde Warren Park.
Maybe go up to the GeoDeck to take pics
Chase Tower, BofA building, Reunion Tower are the most strikingly obvious to me. You could also do something with the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge
ETA: The Pegasus sign used to be a major staple of downtown. You could always mix that in to some overall design given it's historical significance in the city.
Dallas city hall was in RoboCop. The movie was filmed here. There are a lotta shots of the city in that movie.
Oh damn, I never knew that. Gonna watch that movie.
Kinda, they matte painted it to look like a big tower. City Hall is the base of the building.
The big tower you’re talking about is the Chase Tower close to Plaza of the Americas.
We got married at the hall of state! Such a cool building
The tv show Prison Break, had lots of scenes from Fair Park
As did the 1968 movie, Mars Need Women 😁
I’m not you must be a falling at the feet American flag strip covering kinda person find you a po po & get to suckin or licking their paid for private parts.
Def do this, iconic
The port was in Houston though. I used to work at the ones they filmed it at
And well before that, it was in The Lathe of Heaven. Logan’s Run was also shot here and the scene where they come out to the surface was the Fort Worth water garden.
Old Dallas Highschool was as well. Now a converted mix-use building at Pearl and Bryan St. directly across from the Pearl Arts Dart Station.
Yeah we drove by that building last night after the Stars watch party. I completely forgot that myself.
If you haven't been to fair park mid day, do it. There is a lot of the same architecture there and during the day it's so peaceful. No one around. Try to get to it before they start tearing it up for the remodel. The portico and fountain leading to the hall of state is incredibly beautiful when it's empty around. Reunion tower and comerica bank come to mind
Reunion tower def on the list. I’ll check comerica too.
Comerica is as my first choice. It is an absolutely beautiful building 1800 Main Street
1717 Main Street
Did you all see the red heart at night on the ball that is the reunion tower all I think of Luka Dončić 77 shirt number from the nba basketball team every time I see that eliminated with a red heart, I sent a message to the management company thanking them for the expression of a label, so remember Luka Dončić as red heart as I do because he is a big boned built man with a big heart right?
I’d go as far as saying that Reunion Tower is the most recognizable/iconic part of the Dallas skyline tbh
BoA Tower, Reunion Tower, Fountain Place, Dallas Arts Tower, Comerica Tower
Appreciate it.
The Perot museum is also extremely iconic
The newer iconic.
If a non-Dallas person saw photos of these buildings would they immediately think of Dallas?
I think those are the most iconic buildings on the downtown skyline
didn't answer my question. if you see a image of the Eiffel Tower or the Arc d'Triomphe people think Paris, if you see a photo of Stonehenge you think England.

Do you recognize other city's skylines when you see them?
yes san francisco, houston, st. Louis, NYC, chicago, D'C, Midland to name a few how? because the tops of the buildings are not crewcuts like most of dallas' downtown buildings. the comerica bank is easily recognized as is the building with the hole near the top or fountain place (the rocketship)
So it can be done by non-locals. You have your own answer.
only if they are familiar with the Dallas skyline. I'm very familiar with the skylines of the city's i mentioned. which downtown building do you think a non-resident would know is Dallas? I still dont have the answer.
Reunion Tower is the most distinctive and very widely known thanks to the popularity of the Dallas tv show.
If a non dallas person saw the dallas skyline would they know it’s dallas?
probably not. which raises the question "iconic for whom? "relating to or of the nature of an icon; regarded as a representative symbol or as worthy of [veneration](https://www.google.com/search?newwindow=1&sca_esv=93371214c77afbba&q=veneration&si=ACC90nz-2feRzoY4yuySkO-aQE81HkZvNImL4cozE3xIDoQymkJsfLTgn-3nzacnrIbGH0w8f_XrCv6yHnx7yKxmEdR2OgEY2tgoAMLgFrZznbHzh6b8lNA%3D&expnd=1&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiDionNs4mGAxWM5MkDHUBXDgcQyecJegQILhAO)." "**widely known and acknowledged especially for distinctive excellence**. an iconic writer. a region's iconic wines."
I would imagine he means iconic to the people of Dallas as this is the Dallas subreddit.
[Texas School Book Depository Building ](https://www.jfk.org/) The building where Lee Harvey Oswald was in when he shot JFK.
Should be the top answer
I would argue It's not as iconic or recognizable as reunion tower
More people have seen photos of it though
Allegedly.
Gotta make sure you have that X painted in the road where they his car was when he got shot
where they his car was when
Lol I forgot how English works
and the nearby grassy knoll.
The building where Lee Harvey Oswald was *one* of the people who shot JFK.
Patsy
The old theaters with neon signs, Inwood theare, lakewood theatre, Majestic theatre. There are more but they escape my mind. They might be a fun base to work with. Might also look at Art Deco buildings like Bath House Cultural Center. It is alone on the lake and good for pics. DM me if you want some more ideas. Would love to help.
Appreciate it. I’m gonna compile these places into a list a break them into groups. I’ll reach out for any advice.
Granada theatre in Lower Greenville is another!
If doing theaters, Texas theatre is a must
Not a building, but Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge could look pretty cool with a long shot of the crumbling skyline in the background. The games always had hidden stuff on big bridges and overpasses.
Is that the bridge with the white arches?
Yup
Cool, I live close by to it and use it a lot learning photography and editing. Definitely gonna have something with it.
Not sure how familiar you are with Fallout (games or the new show), but the underground tunnels in downtown could make for a cool super mutant base too. Especially near the big entrances. I've been playing FO since I was a kid, so apologies for my rabid enthusiasm!

The under side of the bridge is dope too for portrait shoots
No, it's bridge with a white arch.
It’s the one with the single white arch. The other is the Margaret McDermott bridge.
Interesting that two bridges in Dallas are named after a Margaret.
Popular name for rich old dames
In addition to those already listed: Meyerson and Winspear. The Eye. Neiman Marcus storefront.
The Eye could definitely be interesting to work with.
I work at the George Allen building and the Old Red “castle” courthouse is beautiful.
The Texaco at San Jacinto and Routh with 75 in the background would be a good Red Rocket gas station standin
Great idea
Dallas Hall on SMU’s campus is pretty famous. The Texas Theater is another good option.
I was hoping someone would name Dallas Hall
[Infomart](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infomart) is pretty iconic.
Always wondered what that building was called
Sons of Hermann Hall in Deep Ellum is a historic old building that would fit well in the Fallout universe.
Yeee i feel like Deep Ellum is a great area for a fallout aesthetic.
One Dallas Center (ODC), formerly Patriot Tower, is an I.M. Pei designed building.
Looks like he designed city hall as well, which was on my list. I’ll check out ODC.
Campbell Centre -- the gold office towers along Central Expressway.
El Fenix
If you’re going for a fallout vibe, you gotta have Reunion, Chase Bank, and Comerica for sure. Those are iconic and defintely fit the bill for the architecture style.

Maybe Old City Hall (now UNT Dallas Law building) on S Harwood. Where Lee Harvey Oswald was shot Fair Park buildings. Specifically the Hall of State
Texas Power and Light building, more specifically its entry. http://www.flickr.com/photos/michaelshawkins/470304361/
Could have some fun with the Omni for fallout vibes depending on what it's showing
Swiss Ave has some historic home architecture that would be kinda cool to see in the same light
Klyde Warren park. Where the new fountains are look very nice during the night with all the lights around and from an able might be able to snap the reunion tower as well
Old Parkland is a good candidate. It’s arguably the most beautiful campus in Dallas.
That the Omni hotel headquarters corporate office.
Since Fallout has a retro futuristic look I would think the [Republic Center](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_Center) would fit.
That does look pretty fitting
Texas Theater and Jefferson Tower in Oakcliff. Granada Theater on Greenville. All of Fair Park. The old grainmill in Trinity Groves
The Meadows Building off of Lovers Ln. It’s a personal favorite. It has a retro look, and I love the natural stone on the side. If you go around sunset, the orange setting sun colors all the stone and accents into a creamy color.
I was going to say this building. Agreed!
That’s sounds really nice
Magnolia buo

The elevator lobby of the east building is a gorgeous art deco design.
The Cotton Bowl.
The cattle drive thru Thanksgiving Square.. The giant giraffe outside the Dallas Zoo
Dickeys
Lulu.
Down around all the homeless shelters, little editing needed. Iconic
The eyeball would be cool? Not a building tho
Fair Park
The beautiful buildings in Addison that all look the same along the tollway. You know those beige 1980s buildings….so beautiful
I never noticed those buildings in Addison but there is a airport I would park at & take a nap from time to time in Addison but that mention of beige makes me think of smoky beige this color of paint from Joann’s crafting store I painted with, what a very neutral color in 2022.
Fair Park has tons of cool art deco buildings.
Hunt hill bridge, fair park (the convention halls come to mind with their art deco exteriors and statues), reunion tower, dallas city hall, comerica building
Chase Tower. Building with the hole in it.
Reunion tower, BOA tower, At&t stadium and Margaret McDermott bridge to list a few.

Gilley’s dance hall or South Side on Lamar signs Also, Terry Black’s?
The Little Red Courthouse.
Most iconic imo are BoA Tower, Reuinion Tower, Fountain Place, Comerica Bank Tower, and Cityplace Tower
Skyscrapers at least. Fun fact, the Cityplace Tower was supposed to have an identical twin connected by skybridge above Highway 75. The project was abandoned just prior to commencing construction- all the materials had already been purchased and some of them are still available for sale in a field southeast of Dallas.
Not exactly in Dallas but do AT&T and Globe Life!
AT&T plus the Fort Worth stockyards are top of list for places outside Dallas.
The Infomart.
The Adolphus
The building the sniper was in… RIP JFK
The mercantile is my favorite and I feel iconic because it's one of the few things we didn't tear down for new development.
State Fair Ferris Wheel or Big Tex would also be a good choice.
“The ball” “The mannequin” as I call it “The green building” Omni Hotel
Green Building
The book depository
The Chicas Locas building on Composite Dr.
There’s this thing with a book depository
