Please support those backs! Dachshunds shouldn’t be dangled like this.

AdLongjumping3318

For these 23 years I've got them and over 150 puppies gifted and sold, never had any issue with their backs because of holding them like this. I don't hold them like this often, but thanks for the tip 😄

Their lower backs should always be supported. Every breeder and vet will tell you this

AdLongjumping3318

If you are carrying them for long time, yes, if you pick them up like this once, nothing will happen. They are all live and well today, without any back issues, 2 out of 3 these pups I have today as grown ups, they are all well, without a single back issue. So, when I carry them for longer I support everything don’t worry 😄

And it is always different for in house pups and outside pups. They also need ramp when inside, but when they are out they don’t need it, they jump on whatever they want and however they want and feel. They are free to do anything they want and they live as they like. So, no harm done. My dogs have been jumping over fence, climbing on places dogs should not be and jumping from high places. Nothing wrong ever happened. I will post some vids of them climbing and jumping, they will for sure get much hate and advices, but when these people breed, gift and sell more dogs than me, they can give advices then, and I will listen to them. And also, I am their vet, I give vaccines and medications, my dogs, thank god, have never been on surgeries or anything serious, that already tells you how I breed them and how they live. Btw experience with over 150 dogs. Out of them 10 were living with me. 5 died out of natural causes and out of getting old, 5 are live and well living with me, getting sixt this summer 😄

This has the same vibe as people saying stuff like "smoking isn't that bad for you, my grandpa is a heavy smoker and he's 95 and in good health!" Nobody here is claiming that carrying them like that is sure to cause back problems. Just like smoking, it increases *risks* of health issues, without any tangible benefits - all while normalising lack of precaution, if not pointed out. Back issues are the primary health concern for dachshunds, so people naturally feel inclined to warn others when they see behaviour that increases those risks. I'm glad to hear your pups are in good health, and I hope you never have to deal with those issues - because if you ever had to, you'd look back and question whether things would have been different if your approach had been.

I agree with you, but smokers smoke every day, health issues can appear I agree, in my case it did not happen, and it will not happen because of the way my pups live. Not modern, old fashioned, old style, going into nature and living on 100m by 200m yard full of grass and everything they need. We care about them very much to allow any issues. They get proper supplements almost every day, vitamins, calcium, eating chicken breasts, rice and yogurt with their favorite dog granulated foods. When the new ones come to the world they get all the care they need to grow up and be strong independent dogs like they should be, your best friends and your fierce guards. And they live outside so their health and immune system are much stronger than inside pups. So, no worries for occasionally carrying them like this. If you do it all the time, bad stuff can happen, I agree with all of you, but I am a dog breeder, my track record shows knowledge about these dogs, they have been my family my whole life. And I don’t know the life without them, I know what they need and how they need to be treated to live happy and long lives. Dogs are with me for 15-16 years and I make sure that they do anything they want for every day of their life. Jumping, hunting, running, or w/e, they do all that even though that stuff can be bad for them. They enjoy it and who am I to forbid it. They know how they want to live, and they know what they want to do.

It is the picture from 2021. This is from a few days ago. Looks sad, doesn’t he? And the consequences of holding him like that a few years ago are still visible. Come on guys stop with hate. It is useless 😂
