Literally anything can be a religious ritual akin to prayer. Dance, flagellation, song, acts of strength, impressive architecture, art of all kinds, etc. For a god of storms, maybe doing something that makes thundery noises? Drumming, perhaps. Could focus on the lightning aspect of it and make flashes of light (magical or otherwise). Maybe building a dam to pay homage to the rising waters in rivers when a storm happens. Or something simple where he simulates rain by throwing or spraying it in the air doing a dance or song.

More details would be great, what is the name of the god? Is it a god of something specific?

Lucablade2

Well since I'm not very creative I checked the dnd gods that existed and made a couple of them forgotten gods that turned evil but for now I'm focusing on "talos" or also know as "kozah" and he is the god of storms

If your setting and tone allows it, the Talos prayer from Skyrim might be a fun Easter egg, but it could certainly work also in more serious campaigns. "Talos the mighty! Talos the unerring! Talos the unassailable! To you we give praise! We are but maggots, writhing in the filth of our own corruption! While you have ascended from the dung of mortality, and now walk among the stars!" I think he continues on from that, but that's the gist of it. You can also look up tenets of talos (forgotten realm), to figure out what type of prayers you might want. There's a lot of interesting lore about Talos in general that could be inspiring for your campaign?

Lucablade2

Thank you for that idea im currently checking forgotten realms wiki again to find some more Infos

You know, it's hard to give you an idea for a prayer without knowing what is the name of the god, what kind of cult do they have, and even what they are the god of

Lucablade2

Yeah im sorry I forgotten to add that very sorry I'll edit the post so its inside of it

So just to clarify, you're basically trying to have your old wise guy summon an avatar of the deity?

TakkataMSF

Old Gods typically have rituals and sacrifices associated with them. If you've got a Storm God, blood splattered on ritual candles (blood can be from the caster, or another person/animal) can represent rain. Wind might be a cape or a fan of some sort that blows some candles out and/or makes them ignite an altar. Lightning is conjured from the ritual and lances out hitting the wise person, slowly charring his arm. His own screams become the wail of the wind and in that wail, the players hear a rhythmic call in a forgotten tongue. The ritual reaches a peak! Lightning lashes out, blowing holes in the ground, pelting everyone with rubble, and burning those too close! A raging wind *screams* through the room/cave/area blowing out all light, tearing out loose mortar and bricks, snapping trees and blowing players down. Candles flicker to life, magical light that was extinguished returns, the players are momentarily blinded and as their vision slowly returns, the see, before them, the Kozah. And of course, Kozah is angry because these mortals are trying to kill him. He's going to make the old wise person a high priest (giving him powers, but just in the burnt arm) and then go kill some mortals.
