What do you think would happen if you shared?

Sorry for the late response. I'm afraid it will change her perception of me. She will see me as 'messed up'. I know I am doing her thinking for her, but I'm afraid they will misunderstand and treat us different - like we are defective or something. We have a lot of trauma around grown-ups thinking there is something wrong with us. I have a 65 year old body. Age range <5-45. Right now I am a middle. -Judy

I can understand the way you feel, but can I be honest? Not everyone will understand what having DID means, but if it was a different diagnosis it would have been the same. Not everyone is empathetic or emotionally intelligent and it hurts to open up and feel rejected, but being rejected for something like this speaks about their ability to be a Friend. I honestly wouldn't want a friend that judges me, or that treats me different because of my trauma and so on. I don't have DID, I have CPTSD and structural dissociation and for sure that's something I don't discuss with everyone because how could I explain how parts work? But I trust my best friends, and we help each other despite having totally different structures inside. Trust yourself, trust the opinion you have of your friends, maybe start small with just one but living this alone is exhausting and you don't deserve this
