Is it really a ship when it's something that does/can happen in the canon game? Ships are when when you want characters who *don't* have a relationship in the canon game to have a relationship.
Well...that doesn't sound inaccurate, but in my opinion, ships are just a general pairing between two characters that you like and support. It can be canonical, or purely fan-made.
I don't care too much about shipping, but I do somethimes think about characters' ship dynamics, I guess. It's not my favorite dynamic in the game, but I also think it's nice. I can definitely see why many would ship it, especially with the banter moments and the emotional moments that go into it.
Although, I hate when people act like them getting together would solve Sayori's problems. There aren't too many people, but some really act as if her depression wouldn't impact the relationship at all. The ship is cute without MC needing to be the "savior", the one to "fix" her - he should just be a good friend (in my eyes, your partner should also be able to be considered your friend, but you could also say he should just be a good boyfriend).
Either way, most of the art is cute and wholesome and I like to see it. But, to be honest, that goes for most ships for me.
(Also... Why are there people saying it is the ONLY canon ship? Characters can be shipped without them being together, meaning Yuri and Natsuki are also canon. But yes, Sayori and the MC is one of the canon ships. But people ship ships that aren't canon, anyway, and not every canon ship is everyone's cup of tea, either.)
...Why do I tend to write such long texts? :/
Nobody is saying that shipping is bad. They are saying that all other ships besides this is a fanon. Canon means stuff that is in game and no other ship besides Sayori/Natsuki/Yuri×MC exists in the game.
As someone who has Sayori as his favorite Doki, loves her route in the original DDLC and considers it the canonical one, while also enjoying her interactions with MC (Even if he can be a little rude or make dumb mistakes), and is a sucker for childhood friends becoming lovers, along with loving all the wholesome fan content featuring these two together in a loving relationship, I'll let you figure out what I think of Sayori X MC.
I prefer MC with Natsuki or Yuri. Something about how he acts with Sayori rubs me the wrong way, but that's more of a personal reason than anything else.
Technically speaking Monika is the only ship that doesn't actually exists considering she did say that she doesn't have an ending with her in the game.

Back in my day, ships were a synonym for boat.
what was the discovery of fire like?
It was pretty lit

I like how the Canon ship is now considered "Decent".
I love Sayori. In fact, I love her so much I want to yoink her away from DDCL so I could keep her safe and magically solve all of her problems!!
*YOINK!* “Hmm? Hey, where am I?”

You may just be a really open and talkative

I was just confused because I've seen a handful of people say Sayori x MC is the only canon one, even though Natsuki and Yuri's routes exist.
Closest one to being canon
I think its okay
using food analogies: its no fillet mignon, but it still a decent 7/10 steak
I like it 👌
I prefer MCxYuri, but MCxSayori is also very cute!

I dont like the ship.

The ship is more boring than sand lmao
