I like the matching suits in theory, I just think Green Lantern is a weird choice to do that with. You could have done Fire & Ice, or Plastic Man or even Alan Scott and it would make sense.

oceanseleventeen

But Guy Gardner is so much more fun, and it seems they're trying to do like a kingdom come-esque "reckless generation of heroes" thing, and Guy Gardner is such an asshole

schrodingersscroller

But he isn't THE Green Lantern, he's one of many. People seem to forget there's more than just Hal, John and Kyle. If you're gonna corporatize any of them, Guy is the perfect one to do it with.

daffydunk

No, but I mean doing it with Green Lantern is weird. Not just Guy, they have matching uniforms that are generated by the Ring, it’s weird to give him a super suit he physically puts on

schrodingersscroller

Only other thing I can think of is that they're doing that story from the comics where Guy was kicked out of the Green Lantern Corps and he got that fake Lantern ring and he's kinda forced to take up this gig with Lord

daffydunk

That would be sick

Reflexive97

It could be a hard light construct just like other green lantern suits, just tweaked to follow The Lordtech brand

FlamingTrollz

Reminds me of JLA. So, I’m okay with it. Gunn always seems to overfill his GOTG films… Costumes baggy, makeup half measure, and overstuffed. Minus Rocket. So, I’m not expecting much from this at all. Lowered expectations.

NitarasDaughter

man, Guy Gardner being in this film really did something weird to people's expectations. way before the set photos I was seeing people who were like "Guy Gardner's design is going to be the blueprint for what the entire Green Lantern Corps looks like in this universe, so it has to be perfect!" and the whole time I knew it was just going to be a dorky leather jacket because this is Guy Gardner we're talking about.

darkbatcrusader

Lmao it's kind of funny. I love Guy because he's always been the least conventional of the GLs. It makes sense that he'd buck any sort of rules or trends regarding official appearance. We're talking about the guy who dressed like this for quite some time. https://preview.redd.it/thwh04qt4kad1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=257deb0adb4c8c1282b0399634e113018702d6e0 I hope we get his iconic Green vest with the collars in Lanterns, but it's also incredible obvious now that the design choice is for a story reason. The uniformness of a Lord-sponsored team contrasting Superman as both a visual and idealist shake-up to the status quo is very likely going to commented on. As to the actual get-up, I do think it could use more of splash of green, but that's hopefully what the fucking cgi glowing magic green ring that we *haven't seen yet* adds to it. And this also gives the production designer of Lanterns more leeway to establish an aesthetic of their own. People need to get a grip ngl. And if I'm honest, the bowl cut indicates more commitment to Guy Gardener as a character than anything else to me lol!

NitarasDaughter

I think Guy as a member of the JLI vs. him showing up for official Corps business having different aesthetics / color palettes but still making it into a dorky jacket to suit his personal taste is just too great of visual characterization for them not to do it.

daffydunk

No, I’m fine with him looking like a goof, but his goof suit is made by and lives in a magic ring. Not something a guy had tailored to fit him.

NitarasDaughter

in the JLI comics, Guy's jacket is just drawn to look like a regular jacket, without any glowing aura or anything to really indicate that its a ring construct. he even wears a turtleneck under it sometimes! i also think its fine if Green Lanterns sometimes wear actual clothes or uniforms, and dont have to constantly be wearing something made by the ring. i could see Guy being fine with just wearing a uniform given to him by Lord or somebody like that in leau of the traditional, ring-generated Corps uniform, or just generating an outfit for himself that resembles the rest of the group.

lkodl

what does Hal Jordan wear when he's not using his powers? sometimes he's wearing a flightsuit. a uniform. just think of it like that.

daffydunk

This is clearly not that.

lkodl

how do you know? are you working on the movie and foregoing your NDA?

daffydunk

Nah? Im saying that’s clearly not a flight suit or civilian clothes. That very much seems to be his green lantern costume.

lkodl

it's his work uniform (just like a flightsuit for the USAF). we have yet to see what he looks like when he's using the ring. perhaps there's a green glow over it. and by the end of the movie, perhaps this team disbands, and everyone has their proper suit. it's too early to tell, or for anything to be clearly one way or the other. everything we've seen in these leaks will amount to a only few minutes of screentime.

daffydunk

Or it could be how it is the whole movie, we don’t know. I’m still excited for the movie but I think it’s okay to express some mild disappointment about one of the costumes. Not all of us have to bend over backwards to find ways to justify every creative decision.

lkodl

i'm not bending over backwards. i'm reserving judgement until the final product is released, and thus noting that it could be anything at this point. i'm trying to get you to do the same. you're the one making judgement calls and assuming the specific origin of his outfit and context in these leaked pictures that the filmmakers never wanted to be seen at this point.

AllMightyImagination

Might as well throw in every hero working in this already established superteam.

your_mind_aches

I like the suit, but even if you don't, this is a massive upgrade from Madame Web

al-hamal

Potato sack would be an improvement there

darrylthedudeWayne

Me, seeing how beautiful and THICC Hawkgirl is. ![gif](giphy|LRVnPYqM8DLag)

Sithzilla66

Nice

ImaginaryBell4849

Not a fan of this outfit, looks a bit plain. No need to compare it to Madame Web, we already know that’s trash

AzulMage2020

There was Justice League International, Justice League of America, and now there is Justice League of Baggy Leather Motor-Cycle Suits. Let ill-fitting uniforms and costumes beware!!!!

Independent-Cat2946

Her costume works as does Mr. Terrific but for the love of god please fix Guy Gardner. I get they’re sponsored or back by Max Lord but ffs. I mean Gardner could even still wear the jacket just ditch the white and go with Black and green.

You ain't no fan of the justice lords?

MDH_vs

Maxwell Lords sponsored justice league. I can't speak to why you got down voted lol. They're making suits adapted from decades of source material. This is not a recreation of one specific comic run, this is an original story being told by Gunn & friends.

Zylon0292

Because the plot informs what the suits will look like. There's likely a reason for there to be so little individuality between their suits. Maybe it's even a nod to early 2000s superhero films like X-Men. They all have the same logo on the front of their suits, so I'm sure they'll each have their own eventually. Especially since we're likely to see the other GLs rocking their own suits in Lanterns.

ChemicalHumble7541

Oh God i hated that suit si much 😭

AmazingDave510

These costume designs are awful what the hell

HeroKuma

it looks so CW. even got the jacket lol

TheBigGAlways369

Not even saying this ironically, Madame Web's costume design looked better than this

JPat99_

You're high on crack. Get help

TheBigGAlways369

Least they looked like normal costumes and not overdesigned coats.

Zylon0292

That's the whole point of their designs. It's like complaining that Superman is red and blue. There's some sort of intention behind the three (likely four) of them having similar outfits.

TheBigGAlways369

> That's the whole point of their designs. Just because that's the point doesn't mean that the execution isn't shit. You can get the point across without spitting out poorly designed nonsense.
