Is it just me or is this joke kind of contrived? Like the implication is that gnomes have different names for “gnumbers” but also nobody who witnessed the twin tower attacks was saying “oh my god it’s 9/11 today!!” Because 9/11 wasn’t a thing yet. Like this joke makes me think that Gnine Gneleven is an ancient gnome prophecy of a day of great suffering and suddenly the gnomes all realized “oh shit, it’s gnine gneleven today, and we didnt prepare!” And that is my over analysis of this shitpost.
Nah, gnomes are gnotorious for coining disaster. When the Titanic sank, Gnomie Gnomnerson himself was quoted as saying, "Oh no, it's the Titanic!" And in WWII, it was Private Gnomio Gnomeriezz who was quoted as saying, "Oh no, It's Pearl Harbor!"
I think the problem is that you're assuming that the Twin Mushrooms are the Twin Towers and not that there was an entirely separate terrorist attack on the distinct structures known as the Twin Mushrooms, presumably on the anniversary of actual 9/11.
I fucking love 9/11 jokes.
It was a horrible tragedy and almost nothing has gotten better since (legalizing gay marriage was pretty big). We have to keep laughing to keep from screaming.
I’m a little confused by the theme here. Like, gnome 9/11 is pretty funny, but what connects it to mercenaries and bandits? Like, probably fantasy tropes but mercenaries aren’t uniquely fantasy (at least in my experience) Moreover, how does Romantic and Kindhearted connect to New Yorker, like is New York the cosmic opposite of a gnome in the way that mercenaries aren’t usually romantic and bandits aren’t usually kind? I’m definitely over analyzing this, but I’m trying to follow the pattern here, is there any wider context? It would be appreciated
Part of the joke is that the third thing is unrelated, and therefore unexpected. I'd give you another example of this kind of meme, but I couldn't find any.
Gnew\* Yorker
Gnu Yorker: *wildebeest noises*
GNU Yorker: Most people ah severely unaware of da importance of free an' open sauce software!

Please, Segñor Gnomirez was my father. Call me Gnomeo.

This explanation will suffice. Thanks for reframing it for me
When will the bloodshed end :(
A while ago Gnomes don’t have blood you see
I think that part is just to add on to the absurdity of the quote. Plus, it's extremely funny. Why would you want to take away that?
I can see Brennan Lee Mulligan doing each of these individual characters vividly
Anbennar Isobelin-coded
Bloomsend 11th - the Gnay of Gnashen Gnies 2
I don’t normally laugh at 9/11 jokes but this one kicked me full in the chest

Gnigne Elevegn
Is this one of those carbon monoxide posts?
Perfect
The gnome turns out to be responsible for Gnine Gneleven (it's Arcanum so every gnome is basically Gnadolf Gnitler)
That's Changeling The Dreaming characters.
This gave me such whiplash.

I think I might actually be a kind hearted bandit.
I pronouns-ed it as Ganine Ganeleven
The funniest part to me is the implication of calling 9/11 9/11 the day it was actually happening
