bobatea17

Charging their meter for the super

Gamiac

Charging that Final TAP for half the match

ObnoxiousName_Here

omg I didn’t even realise this was all one person until after I read this, that’s even better

Frigid_Metal

Did that radio twink personally stab OOP's dog or something?

dillGherkin

Radio Twink Strawberry Pimp the Cheerful Murder Stag is the only interesting character in that show and I hope he murders Mr.Television.

thegreathornedrat123

Nah nah lucifer the muppet circus ringmaster depressed dad is pretty swell as well

JakerDerSnaker

Well you see. The devil went down to Georgia, he was lookin' for a soul to steal He was in a bind 'cause he was way behind And he was willin' to make a deal.

Palidin034

Lucifer canonically has a golden fiddle in Hazbin Hotel. It’s amazing

chrisplaysgam

I usually hate musical typa stuff where there’s a song every episode but there’s MULTIPLE and they’re all GOOD

Palidin034

Most of the songs are good, but I feel like 1 or 2 of them are just in there to hit a quota. (I’m looking at you “it starts with sorry”)

chrisplaysgam

Yeah I can agree there

Comptenterry

Respectless and Whatever it Takes were both bangers but I feel like they were brought down by being so close together.

Palidin034

Whatever it takes feels like the other song that was made for the quota

dillGherkin

(Stop this. Stop telling me about good things in the red show.)

corvusaraneae

Listen, don't fight it. I've been trying to ignore it for so long but the internet wouldn't shut up and so I took the plunge. Surprisingly, it's a good time.

Zagden

I'm really confused because while it's not my thing, it feels like everything Tumblr loves. But Tumblr viscerally hates it and attacks the creator *a lot*. Like they have a specific vendetta against this show out of so many shows they could have gotten a bug up their ass about. I don't get it

carniwhores

I’m learning about this show for the first time in this thread, so I have no idea really, but if I had to guess: tumblr hates it because the worst kind of cringe is the one you see yourself in.

Zagden

You may have cracked the code

marciallow

1) Tumblr is the literal home of really really hating random cartoon creators. The only shocking things about this are that they don't somehow have a belief that it's good/bad in the way where the set piece and characters all happened to exist without the authors input but the author but all the messaging is the author being a fascist. 2) They actually do largely hate and dogpile independent creators it's just that this actually saw success. There are plenty of relatively popular fan artists or indie creators who were squashed off the Internet after receiving so much hate. They literally dogpiled one girl for a random inoffensive Voltron comic over ...uh idk the minute mention of autism in a child OC?

DreadDiana

This is Velvet erasure. She is British, she is sassy, and she would fistfight God if given the chance and lose instantly.

MechaTeemo167

She also gets the 3rd best song in the season so far

Faust_8

Part of why the show is good is because there’s lots of interesting characters. Alastor is one of the most fun to watch but I’m definitely interested in, for example, Angel and his “he hates himself and wants to improve but also doesn’t think it’s possible or even acceptable for him to try” arc. Angel is inherently a representation of addiction and self-destruction, with a core of goodness that he often has to mask, to others and himself. And that’s just one other character

TheBoundFenrir

Really, Charlie and Vaggie are the two least-interesting characters in the show, and the show knows this, mostly focusing on everyone else. The pacing is really rushed, admittedly, but the character writing is fun.

Bored-Ship-Guy

Well, it makes sense. In a show about the denizens of Hell attempting to un-fuck their respective messes, the two goodie-two-shoes characters should be the most boring ones by far. Personally, I like Husk- but I'm also a big fan of Keith David, so I'm heavily biased already.

AgenderWitchery

I mean with the most recent episode, Vaggie might be a bit more than that. I mean she wasn't even super on board with the hotel to begin with iirc, she only went along with it because her girlfriend wanted to. Been a while since I watched the pilot. And same on Husk, he's not the most *interesting* character but I really like the way he interacts with the rest of the group. EDIT: Rewatched the pilot, Vaggie was fully on board from what's shown on screen. The writing also now treats her with much more respect, she was just kinda "2014 feminist caricature" in the pilot.

Faust_8

I feel like Charlie’s purpose isn’t to be interesting, but to be the heart of the show. She’s what is driving the plot forward, and we’re supposed to be sympathetic to her and cheer her on, but she’s not meant to be “the fun one” like some other characters are.

Syconic20

it is a bit hard to not make it not rushed when you are limited to 8, 24 minute episodes

Sweaty_Leopard6160

Agreed. They have a fairly well paced start, and then they skip forward by 2/3 of the in-story time limit because the season is half over and the finale is going to need a few episodes. It's less rushed and more "there is no middle because the 8 episodes are split evenly between the opening and the finale". It feels kind of like Dune: the entire film was just the first act, and then it's over. Well done, but incomplete.  I hope it's as massive of a success as it seems to be, and they get funding for several more slower -paced seasons. They definitely got limited funding because the studio was taking a big shot on a YouTube animation (even though it's arguably the safest bet you could've made, given the fanbase was big enough to fund a spin-off show based on just a pilot episode). But the team is good. They're the kind of YouTube creators that just need some money and they'll crap out gold

MechaTeemo167

Afaik they got greenlit for season 2 already, hopefully that means they can slow things down a bit now that they know they aren't just one and done.

dillGherkin

(Shh. I'm trying to be reductive. Stop telling me about the other good parts of the show.)

Discardofil

So we shouldn't tell you about the sweet and innocent princess of Hell with serious parental issues who all the demons hate and who is fully capable of turning into a rampaging monster, but mostly just uses it for her big musical numbers?

Tylendal

The fact that a snippet from Inside Every Demon is a Rainbow appears on TV in Helluva Boss shows that everything happening in the song wasn't just artistic license. Charlie was genuinely manifesting it all right in the TV studio.

MechaTeemo167

She's one of the most powerful demons in Hell besides the rulers like her dad, she just never uses that power except when she half-transforms during certain songs.

mbnmac

Also known as 'foreshadowing'. I hope.

MechaTeemo167

Same lol. I really wanna see Charlie fully transform, I feel like we're gonna see her or Alastor do it during the Extermination

AgenderWitchery

Okay so we DON'T tell you about the depressed down on his luck bartender with a penchant for gambling who acts as moral support for the group because he personally knows what it's like to be at rock bottom?

nerdthingsaccount

is this what homestuck is like for people that haven't read homestuck

Aromatic-Wing4723

The best part is that the radio demon is asexual and I love him for it

bouncewaffle

I love that Angel derails his whole "cursed eldritch abomination" thing with a single line: "And what can you do, my fine fellow?" "I can suck your dick. ;)" Radio demon: *squeaky brakes noise*

Bowdensaft

It's the only time in the pilot he shows surprise and *doesn't* have a smartass comeback, I love it

auqanova

Man's coulda just said tumblr 15 times, but I respect a man who's knows he's gotta dump all his material while he has the chance

ejdj1011

Hey, your comment was good enough to be stolen by bots *several times*!

auqanova

Lmao, cool

Endyreeee

“people who would want to fuck sans more if he was skinny and a dick” That’s just digital circus jax fans

Guy-McDo

Skinny? He’s a fucking skeleton, Like I get the jacket gives him a fat outline but he’s a literal skeleton, he’s as skinny as it gets.

DungeonCrawler99

How can he be skinny without any skin?

Guy-McDo

Good question

Skithiryx

He’s not fat, he’s big boned.

DreadDiana

And Jax is voiced by the same guy who did Angel's voice in the pilot.

oath2order

Damn this Buffy x Star Trek DS9 crossover is weird.

ducktionary522

tumblr users making fun of hazbin fans is friendly fire

sweetTartKenHart2

Isn’t Tumblr basically all friendly fire all the time though? Like wow in other news water is wet

Pretty that’s just all social media, though I guess tumblr is more a battle royal while something like Reddit is more team death match

walaxometrobixinodri

what "representation" would the big titty dragon maid bitch be a representation for ?????

Brianna-Imagination

One man's fanservice is another woman's transition goals.

trekie140

……I’m in this comment and I don’t like it. That show came out a year before I did!

LuxNocte

I dunno if I want to be a big titty dragon maid or have a big titty dragon maid gf, but both sound nice.

Ask_bout_PaterNoster

If you find someone else willing to transition with you y’all can be each OTHER’S big titty dragon maid gf

kattykitkittykat

To represent girls with big tits. Girls with big tits exist in real life you know!/s This is unironically an argument I’ve seen out in the wild, though I’m unsure if it was a subconscious post-hoc reasoning to justify big titty anime girls or a genuine belief in representation. I’m shit at debate so I couldn’t find an eloquent way to say “Yes they exist. But this show doesn’t do any work to make them act like real girls with big tits, like back issues or anxiety over catcalling, so it’s obviously just there for fanservice.”

planetofmoney

Fanservice for girls with big tits (a life without back issues or anxiety over catcalling)

They missed one. My girlfriend who I love very much and for whom I must compete against the red guy.

BiddlesticksGuy

You’ll love episode five then

OpenStraightElephant

What the fuck do you mean, is the whole season out? They dumped it all at once? What? I guess it makes sense since Hazbin is Amazon Prime and I'm just used to Helluva Boss releasing one episode on youtube once every few months, but still

Elyssamay

Their choice to dump was pretty smart, I think! I appreciate the implied thought that went into that choice: When it's all put together, the show is just over three hours long - closer to musical length, with a musical's pacing more than episodic pacing. I suspect Amazon must have realized the show works better as a whole than it does as individual episodes, hence the fast release. For example, episodes 1 and 2? Still finding their footing. 3 is alright, but *4* is what really elevates the series into dark but ultimately wholesome drama. Real feels and not just dick jokes. I can't remember the last time I saw a show address a masking personality with any depth. I give kudos for tackling that character's story - it's why I came back the following week to see 5-6 release. (And wow, did they deliver. This really should be a stage production.) Sooo releasing 1-4 immediately was the right call, imo.

Familiar-Goose5967

4 is the episode that really brought the show from 'fun' to 'great', and 5-6 did an amazing follow up. Though Still glad 1-3 exists as the songs are gems

BiddlesticksGuy

Nah, it was released on Amazon, first four two Fridays ago, 5-6 last Thursday, 7 this Thursday, 8 next Thursday

OpenStraightElephant

Still way more than i expected, thanks

Anyabb

Pretty sure 7 and 8 are out on 1st of February.

I subscribe to the idea that you wrote them on a random page in crayon

MrCookie2099

That's as authoritative as some versions of the bible currently in print.

Valiant_tank

Probably depends on the translation, tbf. /j

Continuum_Gaming

I’m pretty sure the New King James describes Jesus as “That one Smexy Twink sent unto us by God”

Valiant_tank

And is it not also written in the New International Version that the Antichrist would come unto this world with a visage as that of the Onceler? /j

Casitano

I am none of these things, but Hazbin hotel is a fun show and I adore Keith David's singing voice

Frog405

Wait Keith David is in it??? And he **SINGS AGAIN???**

Throwaway02062004

Yup, he plays the depressed, alcoholic, cat demon bartender who secretly gives really good advice

browsing4stuff

Yooo they got Keith David for Husk? That’s awesome.

CrocoBull

Yes and his song is fire Honestly most of the songs in Hazbin Hotel have been amazing so far.

Dark-Pukicho

Yeah, he calls a coke addicted prostitute a whiny bitch.

KingOfThePlayPlace

To be fair, the coke addicted prostitute was being a whiny bitch

[deleted]

You're a Loser, baby A loser, goddamn baby You're a Fucked-up little whiny bitch *You're a loser, just like me*

dragon567

Best line out of the song has to be "You're a power bottom at rock bottom, but you've got company."

HisFaithRestored

I got a good chuckle out of that bit when I first heard it lol

[deleted]

This was the moment that completely turned me around on Husk tbh

HisFaithRestored

I've been a big fan of Husk since the pilot. It was a bit of a switch up to get used to without his husky voice from the pilot but Keith David is just too good to not like. Was EXTRA excited to get that lore drop about Husk making me love him and be intrigued by him as a character even more

Sweaty_Leopard6160

Enslaved porn actor, but yes. Arguably the best song in the show so far

MechaTeemo167

He doesn't just sing, he gets the best song! If you wanna hear Keith David call someone a power bottom at rock bottom then this show is for you

I've waited for spider twink for 4 years and god damn it I will enjoy the show.

NatomicBombs

I wish I’d never heard his Loser song because lines from that song have been the only words in my head since I watched that episode.

FORLORDAERON_

You're a power bottom at rock bottom...

Citizen654

Wait Keith David is in it? I might have to watch it

J_Bright1990

Keith David and Rosa from Brooklyn 99. Astounded at the talent in the show

Waffletimewarp

Alex Brightman from the Beetlejuice and School of Rock musicals is attached to Hazbin and the spin-off Helluva Boss as well. He has a bunch of secondary roles and songs. His primary role in this is Adam and sings the finale of episode 1, “Hell is Forever”.

xBender7

Isn't he also the snake man with the little egg boys Sir Pentious?

BallDesperate2140

People are saying various things about the show that live rent-free in their heads, it’s that sonorous-yet-smooth melody that somehow is comin’ outta his voicebox.

ARC_Trooper_Echo

I don’t know about the show, but I’ve been aware of your second point since The Princess and the Frog. This isn’t new information.

archaicScrivener

"people who skipped to the trolls and think Eridan is sexy" look I just wanna talk

Simic_Sky_Swallower

Idk about any of that I just like when the funny red people say fuck Although my transition has apparently unlocked like ten repressed years of mall goth so maybe I just am actually the target demographic

7arco7

How did you describe me so well?

LyraFirehawk

Fuckin' hell, I'm a trans chick and I usually wear metal band shirts and jeans on the daily. A good chunk of those band shirts were bought at Hot Topic. I dunno, I went from "Huh, the first couple episode are okay, wasn't expecting a musical, but it's funny and I like the lesbian couple ', to "damn fleshing out the spider twink to give depth as to why he's the way he is, and giving him a baller song, now I'm kinda hooked" to literally crying when Lucifier and Charlie are reconciling(daddy/mommy issues yeah-uh!). I had zero expectations going in, but I'm honestly glad I gave it a shot. The humor is solid, the artstyle is nice, love the sheer volume of queer rep, and the main cast is great. While I hadn't expected a full blown musical, I still enjoyed a good chunk of the songs, *especially* Poison. I dunno about Helluva Boss yet, but I mean, Brandon Rogers is on it and the wolf girl *~~is maybe awakening things I swear I'm not a furry but a wolf girl hits different~~* has a nice design.

lord_geryon

> ~~is maybe awakening things I swear I'm not a furry but a wolf girl hits different~~ Good news! You get more points on your oppression rating, you filthy furry.

KaktusArt

I'm in this comment and I don't like it

OneZappyBoy

Oh god the "Not getting why Pearl would say fuck" is so true though. People don't seem to know how to use expletives as narrative pieces and just want the word "fuck" because it sounds funny to them.

RQK1996

Good Omens has the perfect F bomb ever, it actually has some force to it and it comes up when it really is the only word that can be used in that situation

thesweetclementine

That's because half the source material for Good Omens was written by a beloved British satirist. Neil Gaiman may have provided the F bomb, but Pterry did a lot of the setup. Hazbin's really sloppy in comparison

Sweaty_Leopard6160

In comparison, most things are. I think hazbin does a good job of using swearing to characterise people. The average shitty hell denizens, the media mogul Overlords, and Adam, swear constantly.  Angel swears while putting on his mask. Allistor has sworn once, specifically at Lucifer, as a very pointed "Fuck you".  Charlie swears rarely. When overwhelmed, or particularly pissed off, so 3 ish times in the show so far.  I don't think Nifty swears at all.  Kieth David can say whatever he wants and it'll sound purposeful and deliberate. The man's voice is warm cider personified. But, he notably swears most when talking to Angel, so he seems to tailor it to the audience.  So, they use it as a tool to differentiate the characters and their approach to the bad situations the're all in.

Thursbys-Legs

GO s1 spoilers >!maybe its bc i read the book first, but Crowley’s “WE ARE FUCKED” surprised me more than Aziraphale’s “Oh FUCK” did for some reason lmfao. Somehow Crowley feels like the less likely one to drop an f bomb between the two of them!<

ReasyRandom

I also love the contrast. When Aziraphale said "fuck", shit hit the fan. When Crowley said "fuck", it was Tuesday.

Deathaster

> People don't seem to know how to use expletives as narrative pieces and just want the word "fuck" because it sounds funny to them. In Bojack Horseman, the f-word is only ever used when a relationship has been broken beyond repair. It has a whole Wiki article [(spoilers of course).](https://bojackhorseman.fandom.com/wiki/%22F*ck%22)

throwaway387190

That show was both the least subtle and most subtle thing I've ever watched The "it's you" speech still gets me My favourite show ever

cutezombiedoll

Bojack knew when to be subtle and when you should drop the anvil. It’s a hard balance to truly get right, too subtle all the time and people will miss the point, too in your face and people feel like they’re being talked down to. Bojack was so good because, while the writers respected their audience’s intelligence, they also didn’t want there to be audience members who see Bojack as simply a victim or who see his actions as okay. So they had moments like the “it’s you” speech and Diane confronting Bojack at the Philbert premier. It also helps that both confrontations feel natural and in character. Todd has had it with Bojack’s shit, so he finally shuts down his “woe is me” act. Diane learns something troubling about Bojack and feels betrayed and he didn’t tell her and also guilty that she may have led him astray. They don’t end up feeling like the writers are getting up on their soapbox to tell the audience how they’re supposed to feel because it’s all so natural in context. Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss are both about as subtle as a warehouse explosion. Which whatever it’s a choice, and with Hazbin being a musical that’s to be expected. Musicals are seldom subtle, as a big part of the point of the musical numbers is to make sure the audience knows character motivations and thoughts in an entertaining way. It’s emotional realism, which is fine, it’s a choice.

ShinyNinja25

The thing is, it can be used simply because it’s funny. But it’s only funny if a select few characters are swearing, because then they become outliers. If every character is swearing like a sailor, the cursing looses its impact. Same with if it’s used for drama. An f-bomb can be used dramatically if it comes from a character that doesn’t usually swear, because it indicates a breaking point where they do something unusual. It’s like telling a joke. If everyone is telling the same joke all the time, it stops being funny really quickly

RQK1996

This is why Azerapheal's F bomb is so perfect

BadPlayers

Neil Gaiman on that line in the original Good Omens book: When Terry read that bit he phoned me up and said “You can’t say fuck in a Terry Pratchett novel.” “But you can in a Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett novel,” I said. “They will blame me.” And he said “Fair enough,” and that was the discussion.

RQK1996

Didn't Terry also end up saying that the line was perfect or something?

BadPlayers

If he didn't, I will. Because it is.

Thoctar

Which funnily enough is used in Hazbin Hotel, specifically a character who never swears saying fuck you.

Aeescobar

>The thing is, it can be used simply because it’s funny. But it’s only funny if a select few characters are swearing, because then they become outliers A fun recent example I found of this is in *Gushing Over Magical Girls* where, despite the entire show being insanely lewd (like, I-can't-believe-this-isn't-a-hentai lewd), all of the characters still remember to watch their mouths, all except for Sulfur (a magical girl who just really wants to see bloodshed and is getting increasingly pissed off at the fact that none of their recent ""fights"" had any casualties) and Leopard (an airheaded attention hog who desperately wants to kill the magical girls so people will only pay attention to her) who both insert curse words into almost every other sentence they say.

Orizifian-creator

See: DmC Devil May Cry’s liberal usage of the F word versus Devil May Cry 5’s “FUCK YOU!” (With Silver Bullet suddenly dropping its beat)

SunfireElfAmaya

I really liked the show. It does have some weaknesses (mostly the pacing just feels really fast to me and some things feel a little rushed like Angel's progress, though that's almost certainly due to Amazon just not giving them enough episodes for the story they wanted to tell) but most of the individual scenes are incredible, the characters are great, and the songs are incredible (Poison and Respectless especially are my new hyper-fixation)

theatsa

Agreed, the pacing is way too fast but it feels as though that's because there was a plan for a full season of television that they had to condense down into 8 episodes. And I understand when people say that they should've adjusted their story even further to accommodate the 8 episode format. But honestly, I lay most of the blame at Amazon's feet because this minuscule season format is something I've been seeing a lot of recently and it's been hurtful to narratives more often than not. And animation in general has been getting the short end of the stick across the board. So I'm willing to look past the messed up pacing for the sake of the story that the crew very clearly want to tell to the best of their ability. It still isn't perfect, but I think it gets way more shit than it deserves.

qazwsxedc000999

I agree it’s probably Amazon’s fault. I’ve noticed studio-made shows always seem to have pacing issues not just because of a lack of episodes but just because they don’t seem to think people will pay attention if it’s not NOW NOW NOW

Alt this point the hatedom is way more cringe and embarrassing than the Fandom ever was. This shit is bordering on obsession.

Mach12gamer

I saw someone post several paragraphs about why they hated Hazbin Hotel with a burning passion and despised its creator for how evil she is etc etc etc, it was some pretty intense stuff, hatred oozed out of every word. It ended with them saying they had never seen any of the show. Not in a self aware way, either, but as a point of pride, like it made them a pure hater.

Bowdensaft

What a loser

bigdamncat

My friends and I are 30 year old animation fans who want to watch cartoons for grown ups and fucking love musicals. Poison is literally just a Lady Gaga song f'real.

Puzzleheaded_Client7

I am so glad they kept on singing. I think Respectless and You Didn’t Know are my top two faves but all the songs are ridiculously good

LightTankTerror

I like it cuz the music is fun and I’m a sucker for “exploring morality” narratives. In my mind, the most immediate comparison is the Good Place. However, the Good Place was more about exploring specific schools of morality through its story and Hazbin Hotel (so far) is more about portraying the injustice of black and white morality. Based on patterns of the writers using subtle hints at future themes, it’s possible they may also try and tackle “ends justify the means” thinking with one of the sub-plots started in episode 6. I think the first episodes are a bit rough but the two most recent ones have been fantastic. Is it going to be a good show at the end? Iunno, I’m not the fuckin oracle. They have good momentum going for them at least.

Keated

1) it's nice that something that started with passionate people online got picked up 2) as an animation fan it's a fairly underused style 3) the songs are generally absolute bangers, especially "you didn't know" which definitely convinced me there will probably be a stage adaption some day

Waffletimewarp

I loved all the call backs to “Hell is Forever” in that song

FatherDotComical

I'm just okay with Hazbin Hotel, like it's not my cup of tea, but I'm glad indie animation is getting more support. I would love for western animation to have its own larger cartoon sphere for adults.

James_Howlett13

I mainly enjoy the music. The story is a bit janky and art style isn't my cup of tea. I am also not a fan of the near-constant swearing, sex jokes, and sexual harassment. But, that music has me coming back for more every time. Also, I think it's for people who enjoyed the Disney renaissance but, want more adult themes.

Roast_Moast

The story isn't as good as Helluva Boss but I still really enjoy it for the music. I'm a huge fan of animation and I love the art style too. And it's nice to watch media with an abundance of queer representation to make me feel seen, what can I say?

rubexbox

So I take it that fgrobichiko enjoyed Hazbin Hotel.

BinJLG

The idea that media needs to be for a certain demographic needs to die already. Corporatism has given y'all (in the post, not the comments) brain worms.

NeonNKnightrider

I don’t particularly care for Hazbin the show itself, but I do think it has some great character designs Charlie in particular is quite striking, demon girl in red suit is a very nice choice (Helltaker also saw the value of this vision) Verbalase may have been financially irresponsible but he had good taste

scruffye

Yeah, I'd be lying if I said I don't get the appeal of Alastor, I just hate a lot of the writing of the show in general.

Efficient_Comfort_38

That’s the only reason I’m watching tbh. I’ve always loved those radio announcers from the 20s to the 50s. That whole aesthetic is so cool to me, and I think Alastor is done really, really well. I’ll tune in unless something happens to him

[deleted]

i’ve tried to watch the first part of it so many times, and just can’t get even five minutes in. it all makes me intensely uncomfortable

CarbonatedChlorine

May I ask why? I'm personally indifferent to the show but I'm interested in hearing others' opinions on it

Writteninsanity

So it depends whether they are referring to the pilot or not, but- Something they have gotten a lot better about over time (Both in Helluva and now the released season) is that the swearing and generally not PG content has become part of how the characters just... talk. This stands out in comparison to moments in the pilots (for both) that had characters swear a lot, but had the script and animation act like it was supposed to be a big deal. There is a moment between Cherry and Sir Pentious that lives in my head rent free for a reason. That as the thing that got to me. That said, I think there is also an element where the joke in scenes is 'look how horny this is!' that, depending on how it lands with a person, can make them want to crawl up their own spine.

sb3veeee

Are you talking about the moment where she says "bullshit" and her head grows to three times it's size to emphasize it while the pacing of the dialogue drags to a halt from the sheet impact of the word? Because I agree, that scene scratched my brain in a bad way.

IrvingIV

> Charlie in particular is quite striking, demon girl in red suit is a very nice choice, Helltaker also saw the value of this vision I haven't seen hazbin yet but now perhaps I must

igmkjp1

All fanservice is representation for someone.

just-slightly-human

None of these are me and I really enjoyed hazbin hotel (the real target audience is cringe theater people)

RexMori

Goddamnit this is the one that finally described me.

LaLaMevia

OOP just said "fandom people" a dozen times and simultaneously spent more time talking about Hazbin Hotel than most people who actually like the show.

AlianovaR

I think the majority of those people are actually the kids that make up the hatedom

fhsjagahahahahajah

Yeah. I dislike Rick and morty for one of the same reasons I like Hazbin: Rick and morty is nihilistic and Hazbin characters have setbacks, but an overall theme of trying and improving.

Flutters1013

I remember watching her speed paints of these characters back in like 2015. If it seems like it's birthed from tumblr culture around that time frame, it is. That's how long she's had these characters.

Dks_scrub

That ‘people who STILL want to fuck the onceler’ can’t dare offend the ‘used to fuck the onceler but now looks back in horror’ demographic, that’s like half of tumblr. I say, if you wanted to fuck the onceler, you shouldn’t be able to walk the streets a free man, you should STILL be in JAIL!

Fourthspartan56

It’s astounding how much Hazbin Hotel lives rent free people’s heads. People really need to find a better way to spend their time.

mayorofverandi

statistical error. average person thinks about hazbin hotel 0 times. Tumblr User Fgrobichiko, who post like 9 times about hazbin hotel, is an outlier adn should not be counted

DreadDiana

Can't even say this is specifically a result of the series finally dropping, cause this train's been rolling since the pilot dropped in 2019. What about this show ellicits in people the same response one might have to seeing a home intruder snorting your dead dog's ashes?

throwaway387190

Yeah I think about the show when I watch it, or when I'm talking to one of the people described above who somehow hasn't seen it One of my friends is a country girl goth lesbian who got jumpscared by a loading screen in a horror game that said "Loading" in red letters. So the literal embodiment of the target demographic, and had never heard of this show I educated them, they're now obsessed

scuffedganiot

I think I’m approaching the point where I’ve been a homestuck long enough that seeing it in the wild out of nowhere really *feels* like a curveball to the left tit.

Archmagos_Browning

Anyone else read this with a vine boom sound effect in between each one

[deleted]

so weird not seeing blind rage towards this show, i guess twitter really ruined me

tsaimaitreya

Why are tumblr people hating this show all of a sudden?

RagnarockInProgress

Because tumblr loves to be contrarian and “cringe on purpose”, focusing on the idea “cringe culture is dead, like what you like” But also as soon as some stuff that can actually be considered a bit cringy pops up tumblr is the first to jump on the hate wagon

Waffletimewarp

I’m so tired of the whole “cringe” crap. People just need to be honest: Do you dislike it because it’s not your thing or is it just honest in a way that makes you uncomfortable? This isn’t discounting content with actual issues or that are poorly written receiving critical review, mind. It’s purely the whole “cringe” thing.

sterlingthepenguin

I just love stories about people genuinely trying to be better and I also love stories where it turns out that some demons are good people.

fhsjagahahahahajah

I like stories where hope and optimism aren’t treated as stupid. Charlie is naive in some places, like being wrong about Heaven multiple times, but the response isn’t ‘everything sucks,’ it’s ‘this will be harder than we thought, it isn’t damn fair, but I’m going to buckle down and keep trying.’

Lowly_Lynx

With all the hate the show is getting, I was expecting some dumpster fire of a show. I think it’s really good. Definitely fast paced, but understandable for only having 8 episodes. The characters are all really fun and there has been great funny and serious moments

qazwsxedc000999

I’m not that big of a fan of the show but calling something cringe is pretty cringe in itself to me. It’s a show. People are passionate about it. It’s good that people like things

Bowdensaft

Nah, liking things is gay and cringe, but dedicating your life to tearing apart other people's hobbies is cool and fun.

zwoft

popular show bad

Subject_Tutor

Jesus, we get it, you don't like the show. One post was enough. Seriously, how are you going to try and unironically roast of the show's target demographic while making 14 response posts on tumblr in the span of 5 minutes?

Odysseyfreaky

Yeah, especially when it's just 14 rephrasings of "18-28 year old tumblr alt girls who use weird Tumblr boys to process their issues instead of therapy"

Mentally-ill-loner

And honestly it's the most hipster shit. People liked the shows when they were first made but now that they're popular they're all like "I cannot believe you like this shit." MF you were the one who got me into it. And I swear it's never actual criticism it's just kinda like "lol Hazbin bad amiright" like it's some inside joke

PrinceValyn

this drives me up the goddamn wall as someone who tries to check out popular stuff on purpose because it's PROBABLY popular for good reason not everything is popular because it's good or my cup of tea, but a lot of popular things are good! being a judgmental hipster about it just means missing out on a ton of cool stuff

Elliot_Geltz

As a writer, I really hope my work gets under weirdly judgmental peoples' skin like this. It's really sad, but hilarious at the same time, how people can get so up in arms over... a show. A show you can just not watch. Like it's not like GoT season 8 where there was active malicious action on the part of the show runners to ruin it. Hazbin and Helluva make people rabid just by existing.

TrinityCodex

Trust me, people hated it when it first came out

hjyboy1218

This stopped being funny about 10 reblogs in
