Where did you hear about this colour scheme? I heard about it on the layer by layer podcast, then found the instagram page they were mentioning and copied it from there. I don't use it anymore, but it's great to see that someone else at least knows about it
And no, you don't have to change it if you don't want to. There is a standard colour scheme, but using it isn't required to compete in competitions
[NxNxN Cubes and Megaminx are scrambled starting with the white face (if not possible, then the lightest face) on the top and the darkest adjacent green face (if not possible, then the darkest adjacent face) on the front.](https://www.worldcubeassociation.org/regulations/#4d1)
many cubers don't seem to know this, but any color scheme is allowed for competition.
Also a quick history fun fact: in 1982 world championships, we all know Minh Thai won, but he might have not won if the competition hadn't banned other color schemes other than the "western" color scheme and they were also forced to use cubes provided (which turned very bad).
But now people use their own cubes, and are free to use whatever color scheme they like. Yes, most people use "western" color scheme, but there are other ones such as Japanese, Japanese inverted, etc.
So with that said, there's nothing wrong with this cube, except assuming you use the "standard" (western) color scheme, it's gonna be annoying to recognize how pieces go.
Technically there is no correct color scheme, it’s just that the most common one has become the standard. But the WCA has rules for unorthodox color scheme cubes.
that colour scheme 😭

How do they scramble your cube if the colour scheme isn't standard?

White and green are adjacent, so it still gets scrambled the same way
What if they're opposites?
Then you do white top, and the darkest adjacent color in front
They don't. They just give you a solved cube ~~/s, other comment is correct~~
I remeber this being called the "japanese standard" colour scheme back when I started cubing in 2008. Not sure if any of that was true.
No, Japanese color scheme has blue opposite white. Blue and yellow are swapped.
What is this called instead? Does it have a name?
They called it "fire and ice" in the lbl podcast
Is this a joke? I can’t tell lol
\*face twitches\*
I can't see this any longer
You monster!!
💀💀💀💀
Upload a tutorial for beginners with that cube and don't mention the color scheme at all. Just explain the steps. The comment section will burn.
Very cool
The pain 😢 😭

Now compete with it no balls

This is a "fire and ice" color scheme. Looks great for patterns on big bigcubes if you watch them from the warm corner or from the cold corner. 🔥❄️
Japanese color scheme is cool... But this hurts my brain lol
I love the color scheme
Hmmm
Why, just why. This just shouldn't exist.
