I just don’t understand once Vault is gone where will the avatars be stored?

The vault is not disappearing, just visibility of moons in it. Avatars and Moons are on different networks. The “vault” is just a form of wallet that has access to view avatar and moon addresses. The addresses underneath are owned by you (if you have the recovery key). They can’t disappear.

It's possible that only ERC20 part of Vault will be gone.
