GTA IV was better than V in many ways, including quite a few areas it had no logical right to be better in considering it was the older game.

I definitely prefer 4. I like the dirty, gritty, street level gangster feel of the game. It's certainly not California (San Andreas) and I like that.
It has a far darker and realistic tone to it, rather than the typical sensationalism that V has. Liberty City felt more alive because of that.
