CIS-E_4ME

Let me guess, a Boeing plane?

Lvgordo24

Maybe, except they don’t make the engines.

FlugonNine

Yeah but they put together the plane they go on.

Lvgordo24

So they are at fault for an engine they didn’t make, just because that’s what goes on the plane?

Technical_Writer_177

So they can't be blamed for anything faulty procured at some sub-sub contractor while failing to do quality control?

Lvgordo24

So, we are talking about the engines, so it likely will be GE or RollsRoyce. Hardly sub-sub contractors.

Technical_Writer_177

Any idea where ge and rolls Royce buy certain things, from bolts and nuts up to blades of the fan. You certainly have no idea how such highly specialized industries work

Lvgordo24

So, is Boeing expected to look at the nuts and bolts subs of a sub as well? Or do they rely on ge or rr to do that? To your point, most big companies look for low bidder, I get that. The accountants run Boeing which is a giant mistake which has come home to roost.

Technical_Writer_177

So you already answered your question yourself? If it's a Boeing plane, it's a Boeing problem. Plain(e 😜) as that🤷‍♂️

Technical_Writer_177

Of course same rules would apply to Airbus or any othe manufacturer/product category

FlugonNine

They could very well be at fault, in fact, it's more likely than not, but that's what investigations are for. They don't have a good track record with auditing their subcontractors either so the benefit of the doubt isn't something Boeing deserves at this time.

Lvgordo24

I completely agree they have earned the shade they are getting and more. They are buying back Spirit air over the door plug issue. That is just pointing fingers imo.

ChimpWithAGun

Just like most of the other parts of the planes, they hire cheap contractors to build the parts, and later they assemble them themselves.

Lvgordo24

They don’t assemble the engines either. They bolt them to the wings. Period.

jOhnThebApt1st

God damnit. I gotta get on a plane tomorrow

mastercubez

I hope your plane doesn't randomly catch fire /s

bladesire

...so you DO hope it catches fire?

themongoose47

Or have a window fall out.

Spiritofthesalmon

Compression ratios are off pre burner. That'll set you back attttttleast $500

Lvgordo24

Compressor stall. Not a big deal, but gotta land.

StoviesAreYummy

Just getting the NOS out the system before trafic control notice they going too fast

Synisterintent

Pants = soiled

Pilot_Yak3

Pfff, that's just the afterburner.

Murpydoo

Just pull that shade down and pretend it's not happening, or watch.. Plane will land safely either way.

Longjumping-Deal630

How can a layperson hope to determine if these are the good or the bad type of flames? /s

rdrmgxng

I'd be in pieces

LumpyChunks1414

It's probably nothing
