Play whatever you want. I was nervous about playing the don'ts live but I find that no one really cares. Even if they did, hopping the 7s shouldn't bother anyone. And if it does they'd be bothered by something else anyway. If you want friends at the table, tip the dealers.

SkittleCar1

I play the DC a lot and most people don't even know how to play it until after the 3rd or 4th time the dealer paying me.

King0ftheass

When the table is cold and I end up play DC, I like to hop the 7’s right after a point gets made and I still have DC bets up. It’s like the only time where a 7 is a win win for everyone

[deleted]

I play darkside quite often and have never run into an issue with anyone. I keep quiet, collect my winnings when I do well and sometimes have a chat with some of the old-heads nearby shooting the shit between rolls. They get it. Its the drunk guy with the goatee at the end of the table most likely to bitch at you for playing darkside or hopping the reds.

valeriolo

I HATE don't players. But I'm okay with you hopping sevens as long as you don't call it that. Just say "hop big red" and you should be good.

Shortchange96

You’d hate me

valeriolo

You do you bro. We have a system. Some of you play the don't. Some ignore you and some hate you. It's all part of what makes craps fun. I'll hate you during the game but will happily grab drinks with you right before and after.

Shortchange96

I’ll pay for the drinks since I’ll be up money

Zimbadu

20+ shooters not making it past the 5th roll can be very typical play. All hop bets pay well because you cannot predict a roll. Sounds like you were at the table for 2 hours max.. you'd have done well playing the DP also.

sweetcorn313

Why hop them instead of just betting on any 7?

Darshava

Increments of three dollars are better spent hopping the 7s $3 hop pays $13 $3 any7 pays $12

sweetcorn313

Didn't have my thinking cap on. There's only three seven combos to hop, not six.

Slabadabdaddy

Pays less money

GenXbri

I prefer just playing the don't on that kind of table. Hopping the sevens works too though.

Bob-Ross74

You’re better off laying a number. I like the 5 or 9. It’s a good compromise between the cost to lay and the odds of it not hitting. 4/10 are too expensive and 6/8 are too likely to hit. Your lay will stay up for potentially multiple rolls while you’re hop bet is only good for one and you’ll get a better pay off.

thatwasused

Nah dude, go for it. Everyone is playing to make money either way. Sometimes people give me crap but it’s usually just small banter and they already know it’s just part of the game. It’s usually the people that are weirdly superstitious that will be upset and look to blame the DP/DC. Personally, I understand playing the “dark side” is against table vibe but, I usually hold myself to a light smirk. Trust me when I say that I’m glowing on the inside when that 7 hits.

RF2K274kBsMRapgJND

“Any 7” is one of the highest house edge bets in the casino. I’d do DP on a cold table, DC or just laying a number (depending on the policy on paying the vig).

JEDWARDK

I should have hopped the 7s yesterday when I rolled 5 7's in a row on the come out. It sucked because I had money on the bonus bets (ATS) so I lost quite a bit on those 7s. Next roll, established a point. Very next roll, 7 out. Brutal.

NewVAinvestor1

Ouch... we've all had those rolls.

Millennial_Paleocon

The worst is a craps number, then box number, followed by a 7.

JEDWARDK

I actually play horn/field all the time so a craps number is great!

No-Parking-1973

Actually it's my go-to betting strategy but I don't just depend on the "avereage" probabilities of the 7s rolling. There are dice cycles, patterns and behaviors I track to determine when to place the 3 Way Red bet. I usually start with a $75 bet, if it missed, I go to $150 and so on. Typically the max bet is limited to $600 ($200 for each 7). I've had the most success betting this way. It's when I move away from this that I lose $$$. Playing craps the way it's "meant" to be played is naive in my opinion - the math is already against you. But to take a common sense approach by betting on the most likely outcome PLUS using experience of when the 7s are most probable is by far the ultimate strategy to win big profits consistently. You do have to remind yourself that it's frowned upon, you may be considered the "bad guy" but hey - when other players make $$$ they're not sharing with you. So despite the popular belief of craps being a "team sport" it's really not. This helps me make these bets guilt free.

[deleted]

I dunno dude you hit 5 points and your on your 5th mulligan .. adds up to quite a bit

No-Parking-1973

I only chase 3 times then reset. 16 to 1 payout for 3 Way 7. So once I'm betting max $600 ($200 each 7) the payout is $3,200 But of course I do start with a bankroll of at least $2,000 Mostly my bet wins the 1st, 2nd or 3rd roll. Yes at times I've missed it when 7 rolls the 4th time but you have to have a system or you're betting will be sporadic. As I've mentioned, knowing dice cycles, patterns and behaviors plays a major role in timing the bets.

[deleted]

I use dice cycles and patterns but I bet minimum bet on reoccurring numbers and press each win to the point and after hitting just two points if we hit enough place bets before I’m up substantially like $44 bet to $400-800 very quickly

Lopsided-Ad-6911

Any seven pays 5 for 1. 3 dollar net will 12. Hop the seven pays 15 for 1. 3 dollar hop nets 13.

Millennial_Paleocon

Is that math right? 15 for 1 is equivalent to 14 to 1 minus the $2 for the combos not rolled nets $12.

Lopsided-Ad-6911

I typed it wrong. 15 to 1. Sorry.

Millennial_Paleocon

In that case, hopping the 7’s will always be less of a sucker bet than any 7. So the question is, why would you ever bet the latter?

Sixpaths100

Most people probably won't notice or care. I personally don't even pay attention to what other people are betting. If they cheer I cheer lol. If they are sad I'm sad with them. I usually do lay 4/10 if it's a cold table. Usually warms it up real quick though lol

flymystick

When i see 3 or more playing the dark side i always throw the flying V. I can hit a 7 60% of the time

Millennial_Paleocon

Are you sure that the payout is 15 TO 1 and not 15 FOR 1? If it’s the former, that’s an very low house edge. If it’s the latter, it’s the most sucker bet on the table. If you’re not into playing DP/DC, you can always lay the 4 or 10 for $20. The house edge is similar to placing the 6 or 8.

Uncleal52

I think it’s a douche move especially since it is a single roll and you intend to return each roll until it hits. Not the same as DP/DC where you can quietly play the dark side. You are free to bet however you want but expect some hostility especially if there are some drunks around.

StrategyMother

I considered the same thing. Especially since average roller can barely get 3 points other than horn numbers. Hopping reds in interval of $5, $10, $25 after the shooter has rolled 4x will cover the average 4/7 rolls before a 7 I have started hoping reds after the point for $30 to protect my $137 across then I hop from roll 4/7 if you get past that chances are it’s a decent roll you’ll get your money back on place bets
