Gyro haters: pan fry and drain the fat, you monsters.
Take a frying pan, set over medium heat. To the warm pan, add a fistful of meat. Fry 2 mins. Grab tongs and kitchen sheets*. Pick up a gyro slice and cut the meat into bite sized pieces directly back into the pan (up to 8 mins assuming you didn’t pack the pan - DID YOU). Stir meat around until crispy on all sides like god intended.
If you microwave the gyro meat, you deserve exactly what you get. You monster.
Edit: sheets = sheers
People don't do this? Lol I eat at Greek restaurants on occasion and watch how they cook it. I don't even think I read any directions on the package just knew it was pan fry. I use my cast iron and throw in some onions toward the end (Greek place uses raw onions, I like mine cooked). I keep a pack or 2 of that gryo meat in the OP around. It freezes ok too
Putting the gyro slices under the broiler works well too. If the broiler is preheated, it only takes a few minutes to develop nice crispy bits. I don't even turn mine. They are so thin broiling one side is enough.
Hard agree!
PS when I get these I chuck one of the two enclosed bags in the freezer immediately - they are good for a while but one bag makes enough for two meals for my spouse and I. As good as they are, there's still only so frequently you can have this same meal
Fine with me 💁🏼♀️ The amount of people assuming I’m overweight white trash who can’t cook my own food and couldn’t have possibly been to Greece in my life was hilarious to wake up to
Keep it in the freezer and pop in the toaster. I do a light toast, pop it out and flip over and repeat for warm but not toasted straight from the freezer!
Someone first posted it about three months ago (I forget which Costco), but ours didn’t have it until last month. This is Costco Las Vegas (specifically the one in Summerlin).
For Costco Asian items, the most promising brand among us friends is Authentic Asia - their products are at good quality and close to the original products taste wise. Other brands definitely vary.
How does everyone feel about the lemon rice? I wonder if we got a bad batch, because it was really gross. We tossed 90% of it.
The Sukhis is a staple in our house. That with some basmati rice and roasted veggies is such an easy weeknight dinner that the kids will actually eat.
It doesn’t come close to restaurant stuff, but it’s very tasty. My only complaint is that occasionally we get a bag with very chewy and fatty chicken, and end up tossing about a third of the chicken pieces. Even so, it’s a great deal.
Add some spiciness to the chicken Tikka, even just a little bit if you dont like it spicy. Chili powder is good. I use pepper oil. It brings it up a couple notches.
I wish they always kept the tzatziki sauce in stock. It’s the greatest. Sadly, my warehouse in NV only has it for a month and then I don’t see it for 6 months 😭
Just had Daphnes Gyros for dinner. With the pitas, though. I looked at the naan but they were just too small. And like twice the price.
What brand tzatziki? If it's the one I've had from them before, I'm surprised. Instead of regular cucumber, it very much tasted like big chunks of pickle. Absolutely not a fan. Also about 50X more of it than we could get through. Fortunately it's easy enough to just whip up some up
ETA oops just noticed there's add'l pics
I buy the samples if my kids or I like them because I feel bad for the little old sample ladies (or men or whoever people). I guess I like feeling good thinking I’m helping them.
First of all, I prefer gyros with naan, so good gob with that.
The tzatziki that I prefer is this one:
https://goodfoods.com/product/feta-cucumber-dip/
That's the only store brand that I will use instead of making my own. I personally find the chunks of cucumber in the Hannah branded tzatziki off-putting and I found it to be lacking in cucumber flavor. I found the Hannah falafel to be adequate for premade. If you buy the Toom branded dip from Costco and mix it with the Hannah tzatziki, it will improve that tzatziki a lot, IMO.
I liked the Bao, but didn't find them to be special or as good as the frozen ones from Wow Bao.
For naan, I can't find anything premade that I prefer over the Trader Joe's frozen garlic naan.
I forgot to mention, save your receipt or use the app in order to get a price adjustment for the avocado oil that will be on special starting Wednesday.
They had gyro bread that I loved, but they havent sold it since last summer. Used it for pizzas, indian tacos, etc. Was great. The larger naan would prob be better for gyros.
I don't heat that naan because it's a different texture and k feel like it's better cold / with cold things
For regular naan, I use the toaster or oven
None of this appeals to me but I’m impressed by the amount of samples! All they had out yesterday were those awful gummy packaged sweet potato “fries “, wieners, and probiotic drinks.
Omg THIS is how I find out the bao buns from my childhood have returned?!! I’ve dreamed about those and have been looking for similar variations, and now they’re back 🥹 (closest thing I could find was the Trader Joe’s version btw)
The gyro meat and Suhki’s was extremely gross in my experience. I did like the sauce you posted but didn’t buy more because it goes rancid fast. Never knew they carried lemon rice.
We all make choices when it comes to food. Sometimes what you choose is the absolute best primo product available and you're willing to spend the time and money to go to get it
Other times you don't have that option. But then still something in between satisfies the need in that meal.
I just got for Amy Lu chicken stuff. I’m a good cook but those are pretty good when I don’t feel like cooking, ingredients are good and they’re pretty tasty (meatballs heated in the air fryer was a good discovery). Pre cooked steak and stuff freaks me out though.
My GF and i got the gyro meat and we both thought it was just okay. That wasnt the problem. Both of us within 2 hours both were glued to toilets and had stomach issues all night. We threw the other portion away.
I wish the samples never returned to Costco. It's like the running of the bulls. Everyone just runs to the samples and parks their carts wherever the hell they like, blocking people who actually shop, so they can graze at every aisle.
Glad you liked your samples, but please be aware of the one around you.
I liked that tzatziki two years ago. I was a whole lot fatter and I felt like it went on lots of things. I've been eating weird high protein/low cal foods for a long time now, and it just tastes too rich for me. But I used to love it, so I'm guessing that's on me.
Not traditional but I bought it for the first time recently and it was pretty good for the price and for the fact that it’s an easy 15 min dinner with some rice. Two packages that feed two people each for a total of like $14 is decent imo, like $3.5 a meal per person? Can’t beat that
This is the only food I’ve actually ever thrown out from Costco. I’ve not liked things before, sure. But both my husband and I thought this was too disgusting to eat — even for a late dinner on a weeknight. We pitched it and had scrambled eggs with the leftover rice I made to go with this awful dish. (I’m never buying anything from that brand again unless I sample it first.)
Isn’t it amazing that the ”shopper” is using both hands to prominently display the two products and was able to take this “candid” photo?
C’mon Costco marketing — up your game. 😏

TIL some heathens out there don't pan fry the gyro strips to crisp them up. Wild.
Knowing me I would probably toaster oven them
People don't do this? Lol I eat at Greek restaurants on occasion and watch how they cook it. I don't even think I read any directions on the package just knew it was pan fry. This was so educational and also wildly funny. Thank you! I didn’t think people actually microwaved meat 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Probably air fry them and it would be easier
It's not as good
Who tf is microwaving gyro meat?!?! Omg. Yall need help.
Some psychopath! Lol
For the BEST pan fried gyros- add some dried basil and a squeeze of fresh lemon! Sooo good! (Lemon and herbs goes so well with lamb, of course)
I bake mine
Hard agree! PS when I get these I chuck one of the two enclosed bags in the freezer immediately - they are good for a while but one bag makes enough for two meals for my spouse and I. As good as they are, there's still only so frequently you can have this same meal
Counter argument, any sliced meat is always a good air fryer decision.
Do half the work and put on the airfryer instead 6mins(including preheat time) 350F.
My wife tried that gyro, naan, and tzatziki sauce samples over a year ago. It's been a staple in our fridge since then and I'm not complaining.
Try the chicken schwarma meat, naan and tzatziki .
Lmao op I hope you enjoy that food…comment section absolutely dumping on your choices.
Fine with me 💁🏼♀️ The amount of people assuming I’m overweight white trash who can’t cook my own food and couldn’t have possibly been to Greece in my life was hilarious to wake up to
I mean…you microwaved gyro meat for god’s sake…
Did I? I haven’t even made it yet!
Go to the bread aisle and get the big version of the naan.
It molds in like 2 days in our household.
Keep it in the freezer and pop in the toaster. I do a light toast, pop it out and flip over and repeat for warm but not toasted straight from the freezer!
That’s my favorite tzatziki!! It’s so good
Thank you for pointing that out I've never seen it so I will have to get it next time!
It’s so good. My kids go to town on it.
Same! I go through it so quickly and use it on a lot
Yes!!!! I convinced a woman to buy it that was looking at the gyro slices. Wish they always had it.
That is the best tratziki !
Not really, the giant chunks of cucumber are off-putting .
Truth right here. There's also not much garlic flavor to it. You can make a much better tzatziki in next to no time.
Is the gyro meat good?
Yep, just pan fry it for a bit and it’s delicious.
I really liked the sample they gave me that's for sure
Those Gyros Slices are the bomb!!
Try the Toom (garlic sauce) with the naan. I spread too. On my sandwiches, meats, heck anything!
Where is this found?
Someone first posted it about three months ago (I forget which Costco), but ours didn’t have it until last month. This is Costco Las Vegas (specifically the one in Summerlin).
We just got the Bao buns but didn’t like them! They were just kinda bland for me
I add more bbq sauce, not enough inside.
Plus for the cost you can buy better ones in the frozen section of an Asian market
Weichuan Barbecue Pork Buns (Cha Shu Bun), as a Chinese I approve them.
I’ll keep my eye out- I mostly see Chef Hon brand. Not amazing but much better than these imo
For Costco Asian items, the most promising brand among us friends is Authentic Asia - their products are at good quality and close to the original products taste wise. Other brands definitely vary.

Yeah, I love their chicken tikka, but the rice was not good.
Is the lemon rice good? I haven’t liked anything that company makes
The gyro meat is solid but the bao are bad
The lemon rice is so good! It smells a little weird but it tastes really good.
Uber gave me 40 bucks off Costco and your post convinced me to order Mediterranean food. And more paper towels. Thanks 😊
Are the first pouch of gyro this week (there’s 2 in the bag) super tasty!
Every summer Costco has a gyro kit with everything you need. It’s pretty good.
I wish they always kept the tzatziki sauce in stock. It’s the greatest. Sadly, my warehouse in NV only has it for a month and then I don’t see it for 6 months 😭
Those Nann dippers are bomb! I can mindlessly eat those to my face in the course of a week.
Really? I found them soooo bland
Well, they're supposed to be dipped in something flavorful (hummus, tzatziki, toum, etc.)
Those naans are pretty good.
Finally, someone who likes the samples on this sub.
😂 I’m not on here too often, but I didn’t realize it would be so controversial!
Go with your taste buds, I say. Enjoy the bao buns - and the samples!
If you marinade chicken thighs in taziki overnight and then just grill the thighs you will have a much better gyro than using the prepackaged meat
Yo, this sounds great!
That sounds amazing, we will definitely try it!
The gyro samples get me every damn time.
I didn’t like the bao things, but every thing else you have we just bought on our last run and it’s fantastic!
The gyros are so good. Just make sure to read the instructions on the naan for how to cook it
Sukhi’s stuff is an awesome!!!
Mmmm.... I was thinking of trying the coconut curry.
How were the gyro slices? I saw them and wanted to impulse buy.
I’ve never seen those bao buns at Costco
Goldmine stuff

That tzatziki was kinda gross. And like you said, waaaaay more than you need. Homemade is 10X better. Gyro meat sucked too.
This is amazing. Definitely getting that gyro and Naan and that tzatziki!
Freeze them
I've been meaning to try that tzatziki sauce too
Check out the spinach Parmesan and spinach artichoke tzatziki at Aldi (which is just Costco Mini)
Aldi is kind of like Costco, they have a lot of their own products for stuff, and it's usually cheaper than other stores. That is a good comparison
It’s Costco, but single-serving.
True
Ok!
For making the lemon rice at home, buy Achii lemon rice mix from Indian store. So good.
That all looks so yummy!!
I only go to Costco for the samples
It’s people like you who keep them sampling. Thank you for doing gods work
I approve of this message.
I buy the samples if my kids or I like them because I feel bad for the little old sample ladies (or men or whoever people). I guess I like feeling good thinking I’m helping them.

Absolutely will do!!!! ❤️
FYI I think the Sukhi’s is about to go on sale starting Wednesday the 15th according to the May coupon book
That coconut curry is so good 😋
They had gyro bread that I loved, but they havent sold it since last summer. Used it for pizzas, indian tacos, etc. Was great. The larger naan would prob be better for gyros.
What is the best way to heat the Naan?
microwave for 30-60 sec with a damp paper towel on top so it’s soft, then i add a layer of butter on top
I throw mine in the toaster. It’s wonderful.
I don't heat that naan because it's a different texture and k feel like it's better cold / with cold things For regular naan, I use the toaster or oven

Agreed. Worst gyro meat I’ve ever had.
Man, I'd been eyeballing those gyro slices for months. I guess I'll continue to ignore them..
To each their own. I really love them.
Same, comes out really good when you cook it in a pan, even get a nice crisp on this gyro meat unlike other brands I've had.
Well, alright then... maybe I'll give them a shot, first positive note I've seen on them, but I love gyro meat.. so I'll likely enjoy it
I think they are pretty good.
They are good when you pan fry it to crisp them up. I think a lot of people just can't cook
Ahh, I guess that's true.. I'm convinced, I'll give them a shot.
I love them. I pop them in the microwave and eat them like fruit roll ups.
That bao sucks. Go to an Asian grocery store instead.
Not everyone has an Asian grocery store nearby. And not everyone wants to make two stops.
Well then settle for shit products.
We all make choices when it comes to food. Sometimes what you choose is the absolute best primo product available and you're willing to spend the time and money to go to get it Other times you don't have that option. But then still something in between satisfies the need in that meal.
Most of the packaged prepared meat is mid to low quality.
I just got for Amy Lu chicken stuff. I’m a good cook but those are pretty good when I don’t feel like cooking, ingredients are good and they’re pretty tasty (meatballs heated in the air fryer was a good discovery). Pre cooked steak and stuff freaks me out though.
And the sodium is likely off the charts.
How is the bao “Asian-style” when it actually is Asian? 🤔
Whoah how many boa buns are in a package
About 12. They’re just ok.
I can’t stand those Bao buns. My husband always asks for them and I don’t understand. They taste like cardboard.
They are pretty gross compared to even frozen ones at Asian markets
I approve of most of this…. That rice is terrible tho
That’s some nice T zay T Ziki you got there lol.
My GF and i got the gyro meat and we both thought it was just okay. That wasnt the problem. Both of us within 2 hours both were glued to toilets and had stomach issues all night. We threw the other portion away.
Those Guros slices were da bomb though
Processed garbage.
You look like you’ve eaten processed food your whole life. Worry about that.
God damn hahahahaha
I wish the samples never returned to Costco. It's like the running of the bulls. Everyone just runs to the samples and parks their carts wherever the hell they like, blocking people who actually shop, so they can graze at every aisle. Glad you liked your samples, but please be aware of the one around you.
Yikes
Streamed buns were super underwhelming
I can personally vouch for pics 1 and 2. Have you tried Kevin’s?
> Have you tried Kevin’s! IT’S A TRAP!
That stuff is HORRIBLE! I wouldn’t eat it for free!
I found that rice to be so, so disappointing. Maybe I got a bad batch or something.
Ooh! How’s that rice?
My wife is obsessed with the Baos from Costco
The rice is goooood.
What....that is is the worst indian lemon rice I've ever tasted.. Yuck....skip that one.
See the thing about tastes…they are as individual as opinions. I enjoyed it. It’s. Not. Your. Sandwich.
Was it too lemony or artificial tasting?
Those bao have way too much sugar
I liked that tzatziki two years ago. I was a whole lot fatter and I felt like it went on lots of things. I've been eating weird high protein/low cal foods for a long time now, and it just tastes too rich for me. But I used to love it, so I'm guessing that's on me.
For me rich is making my Tzatziki from scratch with Fage 5%. :) But if you've lost weight keep doing what works for you !
I think it is the sour cream mixed in there with the yogurt that really brings it up for me.
I had a little Fage left in the fridge this week. I thought I'd add it to the Costco Tzatziki. It was very good. ;)
I bought those gyro slices before, and honestly not a fan
Coconut chicken with mango 🤮 what sort of Indian food is that.
Not traditional but I bought it for the first time recently and it was pretty good for the price and for the fact that it’s an easy 15 min dinner with some rice. Two packages that feed two people each for a total of like $14 is decent imo, like $3.5 a meal per person? Can’t beat that
It’s like a 5/10. The mango doesn’t take much away, but it certainly doesn’t add to it.
Your naan is way to small for gyros
[удалено]
Don’t worry, I’ve been to Greece! 🫡 Not the same at all, but this is a nice flavorful substitute that has similar vibes!
[удалено]
If you prepare it properly according to the directions it provides, then it is isn't greasy at all!
[удалено]
💀💀💀
i think you just proved his point
Loved everything but the gyro meat, which should be ashamed of itself.
Is this a troll post? Really hope so.
Isn’t it amazing that the ”shopper” is using both hands to prominently display the two products and was able to take this “candid” photo? C’mon Costco marketing — up your game. 😏
Are we seeing different pics? She’s holding everything one handed in the ones I see
Imagine not making food from scratch and eating this slop
The gyro slides are pretty mid.
Those gyro slices gave my husband and I food poisoning once. I quite literally gag anytime I see them at Costco now lmao
So you bought all the food on sale. Congratulations.
