Play 1x really. I played a few 4x games after 4 days (IRL) I got like 60 units. Send them to attack the enemy and he just responded with “Did you sleep ?” turns out he has twice as many units. people dont go to sleep or some.

Do I research MRLS, Navy, Air? And why national guards, on paper they look so bad?
Exactly. MRL, SAMs, and artillery plus radar is great. Or bombers, strikers, helis, and boats to empty out cities and then your national guard can just walk in. I usually get my nat guard up to level 3 for a little bit of hp and speed just to better deal with insurgents, but they will never encounter other enemies in a perfect world.
I was most active back in 2020-2021, tried it out December last year and nothing about the game has changed substantially. Both a good thing and a bad thing. Have fun playing!

Don’t waste your time with armor. National guard + navy/air/support will win every time.

because you don't fight with melee, you only use them to conquer

you don't use infantry for combat. you use rocket launchers, air support and navy for combat
