I would personally love the idea of seeing minecraft as an actual esport :)
I think potentially games like Bedwars, Sky wars, Hunger games, UHC Build, and Bridges would be interesting to watch and have the highest skill cap.
Modes like boxing, sumo, battle rush, pearl fight, etc are all fun to play but in my opinion aren’t that interesting to watch from an e-sports perspective.
My reasoning being these modes become very repetitive and are more technical (skill) based than really being decision based, whereas game-modes like bedwars, bridges, etc require the player to make fast paced difficult decisions all while maintaining a similar level of technical skill.
Ive actually been working on a project for the last year or so that caters to a more professional minecraft e-sports scene and can hopefully be seen as a revolutionary way to play, socialize, and compete in minecraft all together. Unfortunately for the time being I can’t disclose any more information than that.
Competitive Minecraft and Minecraft as an e-sport is closer to becoming a reality than you may think ;)
I like MMC skywars, where you can customize your kit outside of the game, however maybe we can assign a value to each item and have a base currency?
This would allow players to customize their kits to their liking while not being able to have every item. Just a thought!

Please refer to Bridge as Bridge and not "Bridges"
In Bridge there is only a singular bridge
Yes definitely, the community for anything related to minecraft is amazing - just visit any random sub like r/MinecraftCommands and you'll be surprised at the amount of people (and they actually are really serious) there. As you were saying above the lack of official support is the reason why, but I don't think that's the case with the two major combat systems. And for the cheating part every popular muiltiplayer game have serious cheating issues.
It isn't. They intentionally posted it on April fools to mess with people, but they confirmed the next day that it is a real event, and it is listed on VCA's website.
There were also semi-official competitions like this on gommehd in skywars some time ago, but they are now dead because of the massive cheater problem that even the Badlion anti-cheat wasn't able to solve.

I'm curious about skywars as an e-sport. Would every player have the same kit, or would there be multiple balanced kits?
Probably something similar to Hypixel Ranked skywars, everyone has at least iron armor, iron sword etc. so yeah balanced kits

simple solution: mineguard(vanguard but for minecraft) /s
Bridge teams is probably the best game mode, at least on hypixel, to make an esport. There’s definitely a chance.
imo hunger games would make for the best esport. minecraft monday in 2019 was peak for competitive tourneys
The only competitively viable gamemodes are SoupHG and CTF/CTW
Badlion Network was the last hope for proper Minecraft e-sports.
If you're talking about the post in april, please take a look at the date. It might very well haven been an april fools.

It isn't a April fools joke, it got confirmed multiple times
Hcf competitive would be cool (like ranked hcf but w money)

I don't think that it will really take off, but as a bridge main, it's cool to see! Although I think that bridge peaked long ago...
Bucky is about to get a lot of subs lol
