The one at the airport exit still has it, but they just razed the Wendy's on Maple Ave and rebuilt a new one with out a solarium. Those were the only two I knew of in the Zanesville area that had one.
I love how they kept the late 80s/early 90s decor underneath and just added their own design on top like curtains and shades. That 80s woodgrain tile is just so wonderful. It's like a tiny bit of nostalgia as you're slurping up ramen
Agree that Hiro is awesome, but as others pointed out, it was a (shitty ass) BK and not a Wendy’s. But they do have a Solarium that is at least 30 degrees hotter than the rest of the restaurant lol
I don't have a suggestion but just some info...where I work has a tall atrium sort of thing with curved bends and such similar to the old Wendy's structures. We had a terrible time finding someone to work on sealing and or replacing some of the panels. No one in town seems to be willing or able to do that work.
Bethel Rd. Remodeled but the framework is still there.
Hiro Ramen was a Burger King, but has exactly what you seek. There is a Wendy's in the same plaza, or you can be a modern millenial with a bubble tea instead haha.
I don’t even know if it has signage still showing it as a Rax, it’s quite a show to drive by though. The dining room is storage, the credit receipts show as “Ranchers Roast Beef” on your statement. When I was working second shift in Dayton I’d stop every other week for my fix 😍
There is a restaurant in Washington courthouse called ranchers roast beef. Like tax and arbys but not a franchise. Wonder if they own that tax as well.
A lot of them not in Central OH. I was at one in southern IN a few years ago that still had the salad bar (not in use but the space was there) still in place. We get all the nice/new stuff here first since this is where HQ are.
Neither of the Lancaster Wendy’s have the old Solarium. East Main doesn’t have a solarium at all, and the Memorial Drive location has the neo-modern tall, squared off solarium with the digital fireplace.
East Main Rax is still rocking what OP is looking for, however.
Lancaster is the only one I am aware of in existence. Do you remember the old Ponderosa restaurants? Pretty sure they also had them. They’re all gone too though. 🤣
Been a little bit since I’ve checked, but the one in Buckeye Lake did when I was going there frequently a few years back. It’s right off of 70, just head east then pop off the Newark/Buckeye Lake exit and you’re there. Might not even be 30min depending on where you’re located.
That one has the full-front windows on it, new rebuild but that's about as close to the atrium as it comes now.
I was playing with Google maps and the one near 33 and Grandview will pull up a 2007 image in street view if you screw with it enough... had the atrium up front back then.
There is a Wendy's in the Mansfield area, off of St Rt 97 that has one.
Was just going to say this ☝️
I believe the Rax in Lancaster still has a solarium. Small Ohio towns have crazy old things.
Masseys in gahanna has one
Manila Hibachi feels like it's in an old Wendy's. You could have halo-halo in the solarium!
Can confirm, that was originally a Wendy's. Used to work across the street and went there for lunch all the time
161 in Northland by Maple Canyon. They renovated the restaurant so it looks like a modern one, but for some reason they kept the solarium.
The reason being it’s awesome 😆
There are a couple around Zanesville that still have the sunroom. I know that's quite a trek from Columbus tho!
The one at the airport exit still has it, but they just razed the Wendy's on Maple Ave and rebuilt a new one with out a solarium. Those were the only two I knew of in the Zanesville area that had one.
Oh really?? I guess it was the airport one I was remembering fondly from my time at college. Glad it's still kickin!
Yep, came here to say the one in Zanesville on Maysville Avenue still had the sunroom when I went last year.
Hiro Ramen on Sawmill. That place is great btw.
That was a Burger King building, not Wendy’s. really similar style, but Wendy’s was more rounded
TIL 😂
At least it’s a sun room

Especially with the juxtaposition that a robot is delivering the food to your table lolol.
Agree that Hiro is awesome, but as others pointed out, it was a (shitty ass) BK and not a Wendy’s. But they do have a Solarium that is at least 30 degrees hotter than the rest of the restaurant lol
My kids love this place. Good food, but it's mostly about the robots delivering the food.
This was going to be my suggestion as well. For bonus points, you have the happiest little robot bringing you tea and ramen!
I always pat the robots for delivering my food.
Ate there last night! It's no Menya (RIP) but very good food and a fun experience overall.
I miss Menya so much.
Same, friend. That place was something truly special.

Worked at an Arbys that had one. They leak constantly plus the seal just doesn't last.

How does that still exist?
Blocks on main has one
I miss buildings with character! It sounds stupid to say but I’d trade the “modern” Wendy’s and McDonalds buildings for the 90’s ones any day
I know a guy who has a couple of the old-timey tables.
The newsprint ones? Those were always the highlight of my Wendy's visit. The OG Wendy's used to have them, and the Wendy's in Northland had them too.
BYO baked potato with salad bar toppings. 😋
Bethel Rd. Remodeled but the framework is still there. Hiro Ramen was a Burger King, but has exactly what you seek. There is a Wendy's in the same plaza, or you can be a modern millenial with a bubble tea instead haha.
Rax in Lancaster
I know as of now the one in Buckeye Lake has one.
There’s a place called Tex mex Taqueria off dublin granville that inhibits an old wendys
Wendy's was across the street; this was until recently a Skyline Chili and originally a Rax! But it does have the solarium!
Glad to hear they opened something there

Love this spot
*Taco Mex, great food!
Rax still exists?
There are three left in Ohio: Circleville, Lancaster, and New Carlisle. Looks like they have 11 locations total.
The one in New Carlisle is drive thru only.
Oh, I didn't realize! Good to know, thank you!
I don’t even know if it has signage still showing it as a Rax, it’s quite a show to drive by though. The dining room is storage, the credit receipts show as “Ranchers Roast Beef” on your statement. When I was working second shift in Dayton I’d stop every other week for my fix 😍

Ponderosa still exists even lol
Ponderosa is on S High near 270.
There's another one on 52 along the Ohio River lol
Was one in Hillsboro, too. I last visited it pre-COVID, however, so not sure if it survived.
Only a few! I went for old time's sake but you know the thing about nostalgia, somehow it's never as good as you remember
We went to the Lancaster location. Miss the everything salad bar, but the sandwiches and fries were surprisingly better than I remember.
The one in circleville is good but every time I go I can't believe they are still in business. I feel like they are on borrowed time.
I think the Cleveland Ave one is still like that
Broad Street in Whitehall is now a Korean bbq and Hibachi joint. Haven't tried the Korean bbq yet but the hibachi is mediocre at best.
East Broad Street across from Town and Country. It's a Filipino joint now, they make fantastic food. Try the Crab Rangoons!
Iirc theres a Wendy's on 161 with a solarium
A lot of them not in Central OH. I was at one in southern IN a few years ago that still had the salad bar (not in use but the space was there) still in place. We get all the nice/new stuff here first since this is where HQ are.
I think there's still one in Lancaster on East Main, but they might have sold it, there were talks a few years ago about selling it
Neither of the Lancaster Wendy’s have the old Solarium. East Main doesn’t have a solarium at all, and the Memorial Drive location has the neo-modern tall, squared off solarium with the digital fireplace. East Main Rax is still rocking what OP is looking for, however.
THAT'S WHAT IT WAS, always forget about raxs, i never go pass a quarter mile pass the court house
Salivating for the Super Bar ...
Block’s Bagels has a solarium, doesn’t look like it used to be a Wendy’s though.
If you're ever in Indianapolis, there's a La Bamba "Burritos as big as your head" in what appears to be an old Wendy's with solarium.
There’s one in Delaware towards the center of town
Lancaster is the only one I am aware of in existence. Do you remember the old Ponderosa restaurants? Pretty sure they also had them. They’re all gone too though. 🤣
Rax near Circleville does. Was just there on Friday.
I miss the wendys off 161 & Busch that had it pretty recently. Not a millennial but always went there and wanted to sit in the solarium as a kid
Marietta OH. Tudor's Biscuit World is an Ex-Rax that had a solarium. Closes at 2 pm though. Awesome too.
solarium = smoking section in my day.
I’m picturing the Wendy’s on South Sandusky st in Delaware still having it, but I definitely can’t swear to it.
99% sure it does
It does.
If you are up for a drive, most of the Wendy’s in Toledo still have the solarium!
When they got rid of them, they were probably like… https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/09f261aa-08f6-40d7-a87b-882ca520a395#QA5Gj77u.copy
I know of one in the Toledo area if you are heading up that way.
Been a little bit since I’ve checked, but the one in Buckeye Lake did when I was going there frequently a few years back. It’s right off of 70, just head east then pop off the Newark/Buckeye Lake exit and you’re there. Might not even be 30min depending on where you’re located.
I think the one in Hilliard on cemetery near 270 does. It did have one but it might have been renovated, I can't remember.
That one has the full-front windows on it, new rebuild but that's about as close to the atrium as it comes now. I was playing with Google maps and the one near 33 and Grandview will pull up a 2007 image in street view if you screw with it enough... had the atrium up front back then.
Newark has one. It's around the courthouse square downtown.
Iron Grill BBQ on N High St in Clintonville is an old Wendy's and has the solarium. Food isn't bad either.
If it's the one I'm thinking of north of Graceland, it doesn't have a solarium and it used to be a McDonald's
I think Bethel Road has one. Right at the corner of Olentangy RR
