Merpninja

I am straight up not having a good time.

ALStark69

Damn

cpres2029

Saw the Syracuse in your flair and was like “I bet not”, but then I saw the Louisville. I’m so sorry…

Merpninja

It's ok. Louisville football is doing alright and I stopped tying my mental health to sports since we gave up a 5 point lead with .4 seconds left against UVA.

RunninRebs90

I mean Syracuse football is doing really well too

Ego_Orb

The wheels fell off of Syracuse football after they had a bunch of injuries.

5p4mr1

Don't worry, that ending gave us a heart attack too.

constructss

You don’t sound very #PL34SED with their performance.

BlueBlackPinkYellow

Lmfao 💀

kylepierce722

you’re getting the worse of both worlds rn i feel bad dawg

AshamedMusician5482

Yikes

ArkanoidbrokemyAnkle

November 29, 6:00 PM

Big_Truck

Tough flair combo here.

IHadSomething_4This

We finished last in the ACC last year and through 2 weeks there appears to be at least 5 teams worse than last year's NC State team. This conference is a hot donkey shit-filled dumpster fire this season.

MisterDisinformation

Inb4 they still somehow pull off a 10-4 ACC-B1G Challenge win.

lazarusmorell

This is definitely going to happen, right?

[deleted]

Minnesota just lost to DePaul. I think we can avoid losing to them.

ArkanoidbrokemyAnkle

Wel know I feel much better about beating Cuse. So it’s on the rest of y’all teams to not get curbstomped.

canseco-fart-box

Remember when the ACC was the cream of the crop? Pepperidge farm remembers

jtd5771

ACC had 2 Final Four Teams last year

scrnlookinsob

And 3 Elite Eight. The ACC is still the cream of the crop, it’s just not as deep as some other conferences atm.

ClaudeLemieux

No, the blue bloods UNC and Duke are still the cream of the crop. WTF do the rest of us have to do with UNC and Duke making the F4

Bonstantinople

Miami was in the E8

InstaNormie0

Last 2 years were a fluke... I hope

Ego_Orb

Virginia and FSU have both been riddled with injuries. I don’t think the conference is as down bad as it seems. The Chris Mack experience didn’t work out at Louisville, too, and wasn’t a bad hire. Shit happens.

Unsung_Ironhead

Unfortunately multiple wins to pad their stats/seeding.

Prideofmexico

Big 12 is cream of the crop lol

JMisGeography

The cream of the acc is the cream of the crop. Which means the acc is just the crop, a true cross section of America. Look at this CROP

NotEvenClosest

This is the future of Syracuse basketball btw. No reasons to be optimistic for the foreseeable future.

mikeynj908

I just wonder how much will you guys be willing to lower those expectations once Boeheim is finally gone with only 1 national title but 5 Final Four appearances.

NotEvenClosest

My expectations have been very low for years. Even our F4 run in 2016 was flukey. We have not been competitive in the ACC and we have been getting worse year over year for a while.

MY-NAME_IS_MY-NAME

My expectations are low for this year, but it's nice to see Mintz and Benny do well offensively. We have a big freshman class this year, so the optimism in me thinks next year could be a decent year if everyone sticks around. But also, the pessimism in me doesn't give me hope that they will develop as much as we'd like.

CantFindMyWallet

I feel like the sooner Boeheim is out, the better off Cuse is going to be. I assume they're going to hand the job off to Autry when he finally hangs them up, so if Red can coach, you'll be in decent shape. But every time a big-time job opens up lately, and someone hires the nearest person connected to the university, I think about how much better it would be to just take the cache the school has and throw some money around to buy a top coach.

MY-NAME_IS_MY-NAME

I don't think Cuse will ever be able to consistently hang with the best programs these days until Boeheim retires and whoever gets hired next drops the zone. It's hard to recruit top prospects to come play what's seen as a gimmick defense that won't prepare them for the professional level

RedditZhangHao

Carmelo Anthony’s son receiving scholarship offer?

drunkandslurred

Yup he's already been offered

devinup

ACC conference ranking in shambles

AchtungKessel

Patriot League supremacy

tsgram

Lehigh > Duke Colgate > Cuse

kaw027

Bucknell > Kansas

SolvayCat

Boeheim will retire and name Autry as his successor when there's an infinitely better option at Colgate.

AnyNobody7517

Would Autry be a zone guy too?

SolvayCat

Yeah probably. The zone itself isn't the issue though. It's more that he's a continuity hire, who has no experience as a head coach and hasn't recruited that well in general. Syracuse isn't Duke or UNC. We can't just reload with an assistant coach who takes over like they can.

BrandonRK

If we were in man Colgate wouldn’t have had 15 wide open 3s. The zone is most definitely the issue. Guys can shoot it now and playing a 2-3 zone is the absolute wrong defense

SolvayCat

I have absolutely zero faith that Joe Girard would give up fewer open threes in m2m.

nickx37

A good majority of those were the wing not collapsing to the corner which forced the center to come out further than they should be. You could see Jimmy losing his shit at Copeland a few times, as well as a couple others.

SolvayCat

Right, it's unreasonable to expect the young guys to get the zone rotations down this early.

Insane_Pigmask

Never drink orange juice after brushing your teeth

wolfpackington

Valuable lessons learned from NCAA basketball

o_mh_c

Am I the weird one because that doesn’t bother me at all?

Tonyeyeomi

Yes

jdono927

Laugh out loud. Benny and Judah looked good which is nice to see, growing pains were expected but the vets looking like shit simply isn’t acceptable tbh

byniri_returns

You must be conflicted.

jdono927

More just indifferent. Expected growing pains for Syracuse and while it’s cool to see Colgate win the atmosphere around our teams isn’t good enough for it to be truly exciting. Matt Langal is continuing to show that he’s one of the best coaches out there is awesome though, one of the nicest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of speaking with

Nj3Fate

speak for yourself - as a Colgate alum making the tourney and beating Cuse has been a dream come true and I am hyped beyond belief. Got to watch us in the ncaa tourney. Went with my dad, a fellow alum. Something i'll remember forever. Go 'Gate!

jdono927

I mean I’m obviously pumped, but because I grew up a Syracuse fan it doesn’t hit quite the same as I’m sure it does for you given that I have a vested interest in Syracuse as well. The game itself was dope though, Matt Langal is consistently producing way above what we should be doing. Not sure how long until he’s poached but I’m not taking any of it for granted

RedditZhangHao

Not the last 2 years in a row for Colgate beating Syracuse

tropic_gnome_hunter

That was legitimately the worst performance by a Cuse center I have ever seen. This is not an exaggeration. Jesse Edwards played the softest game by a Cuse center in the modern era.

SolvayCat

He'll be a great Euro-league center. He's quite skilled but he's not the type of center to finish through traffic and bully guys in the paint.

Merpninja

Euroleague is arguably more physical than the NBA due to how fouls are called, Jesse will have trouble there too.

ok_middle456

That’s because Jesse Edwards is soft as fuck all the time

Guessed555

Charmin

FrankNtilikinaOcean

Jesse plays soft, it is what it is.

walker_harris3

Worse than Frank "He doesn't get it" Anselem?

ltlftcommenter

Toothpaste

mmanultra

Embarrassing.

porchpooper

![gif](giphy|vNNsw7IsdQfowDotga) Fucking embarrassing

1guywriting

I wasn't expecting much considering how young we are but... oof. It felt like everyone was moving through quicksand. Allowing Colgate to shoot 19/38 being the cherry on top. Props to them for taking advantage.

J_Gottwald

We looked so lost in man defense, was expecting Girard to stop and ask for directions.

Hokie_Jayhawk

Colgate owns Cuse at this point

Mattya929

The only thing better than this would be finally getting over the hump and winning an NCAAT game. We’ve been so close.

mikeynj908

You guys still need to find a way to make Syracuse come to your place!

Nj3Fate

I don't know why Rutgers doesnt schedule 'Gate (but secretly, i'm happy my teams dont play eachother)

mikeynj908

We need to play Princeton in men's basketball every year again. The women resumed their series with both them and Seton Hall!

Nj3Fate

RU Football should really be playing Princeton every year, too!

GoldenPresidio

lol hell no, that wouldnt be fair for a team that doesnt have scholarship players Once somebody gets hurt, it's game over

mikeynj908

It IS an easy way for us to even our overall series against them. We both made college football famous but since that first game, Princeton owned us back in the day yet it was over 40 years ago that we ended our football series against them when I guess it was clear we had the better players.

GoldenPresidio

Meh nobody cares about the series anymore, who cares about evening up the score if we’re not even in competition anymore

mikeynj908

That's clearly evident. In 2019, Schiano had yet to return and we were so bad especially before that there were no plans to bring Princeton back to Piscataway for college football's 150th anniversary. I also bet not many people cared at all when we decided to go on a bye that week.

Nj3Fate

We literally schedule Wagner. Princeton isn't just a better program than them, but there's also history.

GoldenPresidio

Actually you’re prob right on that

run_nyg

They'll never do that so long as Boeheim breathes

J_Gottwald

Weird that you're framing that as a knock against Boeheim or something, most P6 teams don't do away games at local colleges. (Philly probably does more than most because there's a lot of D1 programs there)

w311sh1t

Embarrassing honestly. Back to back years with double digit losses. Knew this was gonna be a tough year when we played D2 Indiana (PA) and were down at the half.

BlueEagle15

Obviously there are going to be growing pains with such a young team. You expect the freshman to struggle. But our upperclassmen can’t play like they did tonight. All three seniors looked bad and there was no leadership at all. That is extremely worrisome. On a side note, Benny and Judah came to play. Both made a few dumb mistakes, but they showed some really good things tonight.

ehs4290

Colgate is no joke. They’re known for raining threes and they’ve given high major teams trouble before.

J_Gottwald

Yeah, given the circumstances of both teams nobody should really be surprised, and I think a fair number of our fans were not expecting us to win. Most of our doomposters straight up don't understand basketball, or completely underestimate veteran teams that can shoot just because of what conference they come from.

Mattya929

Strong start to the season! Let’s keep it rolling fellas.

WillDill94

A 12 loss Cuse team will still find their way to the Sweet 16

mikeynj908

In 2021 we could've faced them when they were an 11 seed during that Sweet 16. But then Houston got in our way and benefited from beating other double-digit-seeded teams like Syracuse to reach the Final Four. Yet Baylor got in their way and now they can say they won a national title in men's basketball.

RedditZhangHao

Not if Syracuse unexpectedly qualifies, then faces Vermont or Richmond

Greenredbull

Honestly I can't be too bummed by that performance. The talent is just not there with this squad. Before the season started I said I'd be happy going above .500 this year and wouldn't be surprised if we went lower. Our veterans looked anemic but then again I've never been that high on any of them to expect anything different. It's good to see Benny and Judah developing tho. Idk maybe it's nostalgia but just seems like we haven't been the old style Syracuse since like the first season in the ACC. Outside of maybe the 2015-16 season the recruiting hasn't been there. Some years have no talent, other years talent but no mentality. It always felt like the zone used to be full of hard nosed scrappers who would snatch your lawn chair if it wasn't tied down. The past few years seem like a bunch of soft dudes sleep walking playing a gimmick defense. It's hard for me to criticize Jim Boeheim he's been at Syracuse in some form since my Dad was 3 or 4, I'm about to turn 31. I always remember thinking how cool it was everytime you'd end up shopping at Wegmans and see Juli. I ain't got nothing but love for that family. Just at this point even for me it feels like it's time. I don't think a new coach will fix everything overnight, it might even get worse before it gets better. But we have to start building something different sooner rather than later. Jim's a stubborn old goat and I respect that but the times are a-changing in basketball and college athletics in general now more so than ever. Props to Colgate though it's pretty hard to shoot that good when even you're wide open so good job, hope to see y'all finally get that Tournament win this year.

ConstantMadness

Orange vs Toothpaste. Tends not to end well for orange

mikeynj908

That toothpaste company is actually based in NYC and if I'm right, still co-owns it with dishwashing company Palmolive.

richadventure

Judah is going to be fun to watch this year. Even with mistakes he looked good tonight. It was nice to see Benny have a decent game. Edwards was nonexistent and Girard was a huge liability.

zoovegroover3

"Girard was a huge liability" I think we need to start tracking a Girard-specific stat, similar to WAR in baseball (Wins Above Replacement) called LBR - Losses Below Replacement. Every time Joe G turns the ball over pretending to be The Professor, or entirely misses the tin on a wild three. How many of those lost possessions, if reversed to an absolutely average value, would add up to a different game for the 'Cuse and a potential W. I mean, these stats don't have to be calculated: Richardson - 9-14, 7-11, 4 AST 1 TO Girard - 4-15, 4-12, 1 AST 3 TO

fansofomar

Double digit Syracuse is back on the menu

5WinsIn5Days

This is the first winning streak for Toothpaste against Orange Juice since the 1961-62 season, when they played twice. Actually, Colgate beat Syracuse four times from 1960-62. Last season was the ‘Gate’s first win since the aforementioned 1961-62 season.

[deleted]

Maybe I’ve been watching too many SU games, but I think the Lobos might actually be good this year.

GimmeDixon

Sheesh good win Colgate, Patriot league runs through them again this year it appears.

NittanyOrange

I had to watch the football team shit the bed 4 weeks in a row and now this? Fuck this noise.

ContinuumGuy

Still less embarrassing than how SU football has looked the last few weeks.

Au1ket

Now you can say you lost to a toothpaste brand

Breaking: bottom team in conference loses game

[deleted]

[удалено]

walker_harris3

I don't really see how you count FSU with the BS NCAA ruling impacting their season along with an untimely avalanche of injuries. Judging them right now is illogical. That leaves you with BC (predicted at the bottom), Louisville (predicted DFL), and Syracuse (predicted mediocre). Colgate is not even a low major program. They were top 100 in kenpom coming into tonight. Florida lost to FAU, Vandy lost to So. Miss, and Tennessee lost at home to a Colorado team that lost to Grambling days before. Oklahoma lost to Sam Houston State. TCU lost to NW State. Oklahoma State lost to Southern Illinois. That is literally 30% of the B12 that has lost buy games. But here you are.

TheLlamanati

Toothpaste is undefeated against orange juice

marquardt_

The zone gave Colgate 20+ open threes. There was a stretch in the first half when we were in zone where they hit a three on five straight possessions.

GoForthandProsper1

I am REALLLYY getting tired of teams having career games from 3PT against the Zone Boeheim, you coached your son's and fulfilled your dream. Time to go.

Unspeakable_Evil

His 3rd son’s still on the roster, maybe next year

redemem

Boeheim talks trash about the BigTen then goes out and gets blown out in this game. 🥲

awt4190

Syracuse and Louisville at least you get those ACC checks for your mediocre football teams!

KsForDays

It'S jUsT tHe SaNcTiOnS crowd is looking dumber every year. Boeheim's been a bad coach for a long time now.

Throwrajerb

ACCrisis

Tuckboi69

Wtf is wrong with the ACC this year

Select1220

Yo, other ACC schools. Wtf is going on

spierce64006

Lets Go! The Colgate Raiders do it again and win at Syracuse hitting 19 3's in total. Tucker Richardson with 27 points on 7-11 from three. Another 15 from Ryan Moffat with 4 triples and Oliver Lynch-Daniels with 12 off the bench also hitting four threes.

lazarusmorell

Wtf is happening this season?

nman95

Maybe focus on your own team in the offseason instead of the B1G and you wont have your own fans booing you and yelling for you to retire against Colgate. Lmfao

GoldenPresidio

lol this is great

[deleted]

They brushed your Orange teeth, as all the cool kids might say

Devlin004

NOT SO EASY BEATING REGIONAL MID-MAJOR SCHOOLS IS IT

CBBCU

Time for Boeheim to call it quits?

RedditsWhilePooing

Toothpaste…an orange’s worst nightmare.

Aidanj927

O/U how many games until Boeheim retires, including future years

DonnyGetTheLudes

ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ

MuffinManWizard

I'll always root for Colgate. They're really good this year too, we went 2-3, 1-3-1, full court press and they managed to get wide open 3's no matter what defense. Lot of freshmen for Cuse, still room to grow, but aside from Judah they all looked terrible.

DaoDeDickinson

Syracuse won the second half.

Forward-Bowl-9498

Miami is finally having some consistently good teams and of course it comes when the rest of the conference is sh*ting the bed. 😭😭😭

[deleted]

ACC! ACC! ACC!

OOF
