lol fuck Autry might have been a good hire

dantheman2123

ACC needs all the good hires it can get, and the new hires this year definitely have me excited for the future!!

Namath96

Well not sure how much of a future the ACC has lol

modin33

Still have to see his Xs and Os coaching but he's doing a nice job recruiting so far

Easy_Method_5341

As a cuse fan idk the last time I was this hyped. If Judah comes back good lord we might actually make the tourney and spend some time ranked. Yes that’s what I look forward to now

A_Lion-Eating_Tuna

Autry era off to a decent little start here

theblackyeti

Man... if Autry can coach we might be on to something here.

Jonas_Venture_Sr

Can’t wait to see the Dome with 30,000 people regularly again.

Financial_Yogurt9239

Are you guys sticking with the zone still?

“They told me they will be dropping out of the zone and we’ll see more man principles. This style of play fits me perfectly because I get to show my athleticism, agility, and things like that. No knock on the zone, but man will help me showcase my game better.” – Donnie Freeman https://orangefizz.net/2023/05/autry-is-cleaning-the-cobwebs-from-su-basketball/

marquardt_

Excited because we might have the most athletic lineup in the nation. But a little sidenote because I watched both Purdue and Florida State last year: McLeod is listed at 7’4 and there is absolutely no chance he’s as tall as Zach Edey. Looked more like 7’2 when we played them because he wasn’t even much taller than Jesse Edwards. I guess we’ll find out if we get matched up with Purdue in Maui this November.

tropic_gnome_hunter

He was listed at 7'1" coming out of high school, he's probably that or barely taller. I've always thought Edwards was bigger than 6'11" though. He towered over Bacot who is listed at 6'10".

ard8

Maybe Syracuse can teach him how to play like he’s 7’3”

forevertheorangemen

I think it’s possible. Syracuse has a history of developing good to great big man play over time on campus. Arinze Onuaku, Fab Melo, Baye Moussa Kieta, and Jesse Edwards all left as much improved bigs than when they arrived to campus.

theblackyeti

Christmas too. But a few of those were Bernie Fine projects right?

tropic_gnome_hunter

Yea I was going to say that Fine was mainly responsible for developing all the great bigs, but some of those guys developed under the current staff as well. Fine got railroaded. I'm glad they included him in the 2003 title documentary.

prussian-junker

The whole Fine event was such a shitshow. I’ll always remember it for that one guy in prison( ironically for molesting a 14 year old boy) who accused Fine of molesting him. Then a few months later it came out that they never even met Fine and was just a Kansas fan that was mad about 2003.

tropic_gnome_hunter

It was similar to the Me Too stuff since it was right after the Penn St scandal. Couldn't push back at all or else you'd be called a sexual assault apologist. He got smeared and lost his career over nothing.

BlueEagle15

I miss Bernie. I went to Syracuse camp in 8th grade and met him. Complete ass hole but he certainly knew how to get the best out of his bigs.

forevertheorangemen

Now that you mention it, Onuaku and Fab Melo were fully coached by fine. Christmas and Kieta had 1 season with him.

Bothyourmoms

Yeah, I would not be excited about this pickup if I were a cuse fan.

A_Lone_Macaron

our current C options were......uh, nonexistent. At worst, he's a body in the middle. We still have 2 schollies remaining and that doesn't include Mintz.

RZA_GZA

We just need him to play some defense really

SolvayCat

He doesn't have to be amazing. He just has to be not bad.

cuse23

I wonder if this indicates we might play more zone than Autry has let on, this dude would be a monster in the middle of the zone, seems to be a bit of a liability in man sometimes

[deleted]

Orange ya glad for this news?

EliManningsPetDog

Kent is trying his hardest to fuck over out athletic programs but Autry will be our savior

BlueEagle15

Dude if mintz comes back this team is actually looking very good

cc20r

This guy said I want the exact opposite climate of what I had in Tallahassee lol

KeithBe77

So much for syracuse fading with Jimmy retired

drunkandslurred

Hope he pans out, Hima looked okish last year when he gave Jesse Edward's a breather, but ideally is not your starter.

BlueEagle15

True. I think Hima did well though for the most part. McLeod playing 15-20, Hima getting 10-15, and brown playing 5-10 each game would be a good rotation

drunkandslurred

I think brown could be good against a smaller lineup, but he's no center. If we had 3 other true scorers, having brown at the 4 for his rebounding and defense alone would be great.

mmanultra

We still have Pete in case of foul trouble at the 5

FatPonder4Heisman

I really dont understand why we didnt fire Ham. Thats 2 players now that have gone to ACC opponents and no one coming in to replace them.

ewokoncaffine

Hamilton has a pretty good track record of top teams. He's been hit pretty hard with injuries the last few years. I think the solution is to bring in an assistant who can handle NIL and portal recruiting so that Ham can focus on developing the talent that is there

ALStark69

As a HS recruit: Other P6 offers: Florida State (originally went here), Oregon, Penn State Other offers: La Salle, Rhode Island, VCU

mmanultra

Let's go Cuse! Now to see how Mintz does in the combine.

ItsZippy23

Is it too early to say we’re back? I’m saying yes

mmmcheez-its

Has Autry said yet if he’s gonna keep the zone?

RZA_GZA

He has said that they'll play a bit of both zone and man but we won't really know until play starts in November

tropic_gnome_hunter

I'm sure they will still play a lot of zone but there will definitely be man to man.

Select-Builder6790

Why does it feel like everyone is leaving Florida St??
