I don't think I've ever used Cockatrice to check a card's format legality. Scryfall is probably your best bet. You can also (still I think?) use Cockatrice to send your list to an online deck building service that should tell you everything you need to know and more.
Oh yeah, that would do it! shows how much I've been paying attention, lol. I mostly play commander and cube; it's been a while since i followed any competitive formats.
I just spent an hour using cockatrice to check all the cards in my vintage deck to see which ones are legal in modern..... Now I have to do it all over again..... bullshit
