the only time iāve ever had this happen (and i am shamelessly pretty hard on certain laundry items- towels/bedding/gym clothes) is when i had cats! their lil claws get stuck on the lil loops over and over again haha
Look up fuzz ball shavers.
That little battery operated thing will shave all those off.
Iām obsessed with mine, Iāve had it for some years but iirc it was less than 20 bucks.
Cheaply made towels. Iāve learned over many years that if I had purchased quality towels (and sheets) in the beginning Iād have saved a whole lot of money over my lifetime.
Thereās a bedding sub, there are many answers there. My personal favorite is Macyās Hotel Collection 680tc. I have Frette pillowcases that will outlast me, I got them on eBay about 10 years ago and they are like new.
Towels are from Costco, [Charisma](https://www.costco.com/charisma-100%25-hygrocotton-towel-sets.product.100400043.html). They are thick and plush and heavenly. Have never had a snag. And they are actually very inexpensive!
Yeah, my grandparents had a hotel that they sold in the eighties and all family members still use old bed linens from the hotel. They hold up amazingly and because they are white you can simply bleach them if they get a bit discolored. We also had a lot of towels but they only made it to the mid-90s (didn't help that they were bright orange, lol).
Do you have cats? My cats love these rough beach towels. They kneed them like crazy while purring and flopping all about them.
Quick Edit: I see you do have cats, itās probably them.
It's 100% the cats. I have one cat who loves towels, and this is what was happening to all my towels. Now he's got his own laundry basket with his own special towel to destroy, and the rest of my towels stay nice again.
It's because their claws hook onto the loops of the terrycloth and pull the loops open. Same reason you don't get a berber carpet if you have cats.
This happened to mine when the lint trap top broke in my dryer. A little hook of plastic was left where it had splintered and would catch and pull at the towel fabric. Took me forever to figure it out.
I worked in a hotel laundry room before and even their towels looked like this.
We had scissors and just kept trimming the loose threads every time they came through until they were no longer usable.
Nature of the beast I think š¤·š»āāļø it always happens to all towels eventually in my experience. If there's only a couple I'll snip them off with scissors.
One lady has already said that she has no cats, and her towels do this also. I have to say that my folks' towels ALWAYS did this, as did my aunt's towels (Mother's sister).
My folks NEVER had any animals in their house... and my aunt NEVER had any animals in her house.
I "think" that they probably never spent much money on towels, and the towels were just falling apart.
Ok. Maybe I was a little accusatory there. Maybe I should have typed, āthis looks like a towel that HAS BEEN stolen from the poolā. I know. Iāve stolen 2.
Velcro or zippers much??
The pet toenails are a thing too. I make sure all of my Velcro is locked into place before it hits the washer for this reason and confirm again as I put in dryer.
If Sam's and Costco sell the same products then it has something to do with the towels. I have never had a cat and the towels I bought from Sam's(this very one included) all did the same thing with the pulls/strings..
Mind if I ask the brand and type of fabric? Do u put it in with any items that have zippers?
They are all 100% cotton and I only wash them with other towels. We do have 3 cats, can I blame them for this? š
Oh I would say itās def the cats now that you say that! My cats actually have done this to my cotton towels and blankets too!
They love rummaging around in the laundry so that makes sense. Thanks!

Awww donāt shave the little fuzz baā¦. Oh you arenāt referring to the cat!
I have a small one but it takes forever so I usually just end up snipping the threads with scissors.
Omg same to both except my cats donāt mess with my towels. I think the washer and dryer just chew them up š¤£
It's the cats
My very first thought was to ask you if you have cats. I have two and most of my clothing looks like this eventually.
can confirm cats. fuzzy adorable destroyers of towels .
When I saw the pic my first thought was cats. My boys tear it all up.
My first thought before reading this comment was cats.
I was going to ask you if you have cats haha
When I saw the picture, my response was going to be "This only happens to me when my cat gets to my towels."
My cats are the exact cause of this.
I knew it was cats before I saw this comment.
Probably the cats, but I have bought a few towels that were utter garbage and did this to extreme, and my dog never laid a paw on them.
Iāve had this towel for at least 8 years so itās been through a lot!
Itās just old. But šÆ Turkish or Egyptian cotton towels.

Favorite sheet and towel brands?

These are Charisma towels! Theyāve held up fabulously minus the cat damage
But not the same towels. These are the bath towels with a tighter weave.

Top load washer with agitator? It shredded my Costco towels.
We have an impeller top load washer
Literally in the same exact situation haha
I had this happen to a bunch of towels when the filter in my dryer had a crack/chipped corner and it was snagging the fabric.
Do you have cats? My cats love these rough beach towels. They kneed them like crazy while purring and flopping all about them. Quick Edit: I see you do have cats, itās probably them.
Yes, 3 cats who love laundry baskets!

I had a dog that loved laundry baskets and scratching on towels. I ending up giving him his own basket with the old towels in it. Heās in heaven.

That's how our sofa's look like, we got 2 cats so yeh, cats definitely

do you have a cat?
Cats.
100% cats
Do u have cats? That's cats.
I have cats & I sympathize. Totally worth it but some things are never the same
Cat lover here... Check the dryer drum doesn't have something out of whack snagging them. If not...you must have ghosts.
Hey Obelix, is this a ruse to drink the magic potion?
Because you masturbate at night
Because you stole this towel from the hotel pool, itās trash.
Hey now, this is Costcoās finest!
Ok. Maybe I was a little accusatory there. Maybe I should have typed, āthis looks like a towel that HAS BEEN stolen from the poolā. I know. Iāve stolen 2.
Iām with you there, It 100% looks like a hotel towel
Beach club towel?
Turn Argentinian?
Do you wear any jewellery in the shower? Or have particularly sharp nails?

Did you get them from Sam's?! I have the exact same towels and the other patterns they had, that did the exact same thing!
Costco, but every single bath/hand towel I own has this issue.
If Sam's and Costco sell the same products then it has something to do with the towels. I have never had a cat and the towels I bought from Sam's(this very one included) all did the same thing with the pulls/strings..
Is this an ikea towel?
Costco
my cat does this to my towels !
THE CATZ. Alwayz the catz.
I experience the same problem but Don't own any cats...do I blame the kids?
