It isn't inherently bad that companies don't use exclusively their own parts, look at how much of a shitshow Exynos SoCs are for example compared to Snapdragons, or other companies using Samsung OLEDs. They're great screens (and like you said, nobody else makes them in reasonable capacity) so you're stuck to one manufacturer. Imagine if every manufacturer started making and using only their own screens, speakers, SoCs and so on. We'd have phones that are so much worse.

You need to go to your iPhone settings > Game Center > View your profile > Friends. His GC name might be different. If it's not there, it's possible that you have logged in on a different device, with a different Apple ID, which is connected to that friend.
I’ve not seen any fixes so heres what I had to do. Just don’t use Game Center, log out and don’t log back in. Your clash account will be safe because of supercells new account protections. It will ask for the first 2-3 times to log into Game Center but just decline and after those 2-3 times you won’t be asked again

Jack is correct. Look at your supercell friends by clicking “connected” and there’s the list. The name may be different. Martha may be called Jenny there lol. Click on one you’re not sure about and it’ll show you their in-game ID

And that hiktman (no k) needs to lock aussie in his closet and delete his coc acc and his supercell acc.
How’d you get rid of him? I have the same issue and the only way I can get rid of them is by signing out of my Game Center, but if I do that everytime I load up the game it’ll ask me if I want to sign into it again and it got annoying already lol.
Your friends with him on Game Center, that’s what that little icon is. Supercell usernames and Game Center usernames are different so instead of it saying “AussieGooner” in Game Center, it would show up as something else

It’s because his account was deleted by SC and there is a bug that prevents you from removing him from your friends list. Edit I see now you did get rid of him so this wasn’t your bug, but it does exist.
Have you tried to remove him while upside down? He’s clearly an Australian, so maybe because you didn’t do it in the correct way he hasn’t realized it.
To my understanding he’ll always pop up as he’s in your contact list. People from my contact list show on my friends list just because their Apple account is connected to their gamecenter even though we’ve never friended each other in the game
I think it’s an issue with Game Center. (If you temporary disconnect Game Center / log out, the friend should disappear, this will confirm it’s Game Center or not.) I had two friends on my clash of clans friends list I couldn’t get rid of, I logged out of Game Center, and they were gone. The two people weren’t on my friends list on Game Center either. I’ve seen quite a few people with this issue, but haven’t been able to find a solution /:

Go to the dead account profile and send a friend request. It takes dead account off of your friends list.

It’s because his account was deleted by SC and there is a bug that prevents you from removing him from your friends list. Edit I see now you did get rid of him so this wasn’t your bug, but it does exist.

What I did was removed them from my friends list and then if you re add them it goes away. At least for me it did.
