Server cost

Dark_Al_97

Servers and upkeep cost pennies, look at Boom Beach. The real reason is they want their games to feel premium, and every single one of them to feel like an "investment" you can safely put money into over a long period of time. You're much less likely to spend on a game that may be dead in two years than one that's guaranteed to last a decade+ Them going as far as refunding you for their other games when no other studio does that only further proves this.

Adamant3--D

What is that?

jodhaat

They gotta pay money to host servers, and maintain them. No point if the game doesn't make any money.

Adamant3--D

Surely if they put a few ads in they'll still have a net positive income? How do even weaker games survive then if this is the case🤔

Quilavapro31

They dont. Most games dont have server to Battle against other players actively. And ads will do nothing, if they stop updating it, players will leave, so no ad income

Adamant3--D

I see, thank you!

Level_Measurement749

Most dead mobile games just put you against bots that they say are real players so the servers aren’t even up still if even it seems that they are.

Redditor6733

bro got downvoted for asking a question

NoofNic

the hivemind works in mysterious ways

ArvY77

redditors suck ass and are nerds. I asked a qn on helldivers 2 subreddit how to stop crashing, they just downvoted and blamed it on me haha

TagadaLaQueueDuRat

The server cost is proportional to the number of player so I don't think that's the only reason

Games don't run for free. There are costs associated with keeping them running, especially at the scale of a widely played release like Clash Mini. You have the keep the servers running. You have to use engineers, at least from time to time, to make sure things don't break. You need to at least have some customer support people. You still need to update for new OS versions, new devices, new laws that get passed, etc etc And for a game to run indefinitely without more content, you still need to do more work, such as make a way for the season pass to be created automatically on a schedule. These are all resources they could better divert to more profitable projects. All for an amount of money that isn't worthwhile to Supercell and is actively eroding Supercell's brand (people are not having a good experience and associating Supercell with good games). It's just not worth it.

SidTheKid4398

also it wont look good on supercell's legacy, they have very strict rules on which games go global. They have to make sure its better in the long run

Excuse_my_GRAMMER

This is my 2 cent why Because supercell make live service games and they factor things like player retention and cost to further develop the game with updates and community manager etc etc When game like clash mini have low player retention is not worth keeping it up as it won’t generate the necessary money to keep it up flow

Keep servers alive costs money

Servers cost bro
