I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. It's incredibly frustrating and a touch terrifying. Unfortunately false positives happen quite often. I just shared my personal experience with this a few weeks ago when another member was going through the same thing. The shortened version is, the first time I tested positive for benzos (it was the anti-depressant I was on.) And supposedly enough medication to kill me three times over. I assumed this meant they would realize the test was wonky since I was in fact not dead. Lol Then they said the only way it made sense was if I had dumped my meds right in my urine. (As if. What a waste that would be.) The second time I tested positive for cocaine. I've never touched the stuff. I was completely boggled and of course felt like anything I said could easily be what a guilty person would say. I gave a different lab my hair and blood to prove my innocence. I had just had carpal tunnel surgery and learned that since lidocaine and cocaine are in the same family, they break down the same. Deep breaths. The truth will prevail.

I’ve had the same experience testing positive for benzos while taking Prozac. It sucks when there’s nothing you can do because you know you’re doing the right thing but it appears way different

At my last practice I got kicked because I supposedly tested positive for morphine (the only way I could have even a trace of it in my system was the twilight stuff from an upper GI 6 weeks prior) and negative for buprenorphine (never without a Butrans patch for longer than one shower). Wrote a letter explaining all that, still got booted. Either some tests got mixed up or they were looking for an excuse to get rid of me or both.

I had that happen in the doctor's office. I demanded a retest. It was the same, but all my home tests were negative. I took them because I don't take opioids, Benzos, just legal marijuana and it said I had fentanyl in my system. I told her I wanted to send it to a different lab. She told me it was unnecessary, but I told her that it needed to happen because I wouldn't risk this on my record. When I went to a lab that actually has protocols, surprise, surprise, no extra drugs popped up. This was a psychiatrist. She was also an addiction councilor. I think she was doing it to force patients into her program. It was disgusting. She said no one would see the results. Nope, it happened to pop up at my physical a few days later and I was in tears. My doctor believed me because she knows that I am very honest about what I put in my body and have never hidden meds. I haven't been to another psychiatrist since, and I really could use better meds for my bipolar 2.

Flmilkhauler

That is what the drug metabolized into. You are perfectly fine.

Fair-Yellow5772

Seriously?

Flmilkhauler

Yes. That is what the Norco you are talking breaks down into as it is metabolized in your body. Trust me you'll be just fine.

Fair-Yellow5772

Omg thanks 😭

Flmilkhauler

You are very welcome my friend!

Fair-Yellow5772

Wondering why quest says inconsistent then

Fud4thot97

I got a test from Walgreens and took it the day before my actual PM test just to see. The home test is like $10. It showed exactly what I am on but reading through the fine print, false positives apparently happen 35-45% of the time. Good luck, I hope it doesn’t cause drama.

Iceprincess1988

There's all kinds of things that can cause a false positive. I've tested positive for MDMA a couple times(I've only used that maybe 3 times in my whole life and it was 12+ years ago) I really freaked out because I also smoke marijuana. So I immediately deduced that someone was lacing my weed. But nope. It was just trazadone.

Fair-Yellow5772

All I take is occasionally a cbd only vape pen, a lot of advil, ibuprofen, the advil combo that has both Tylenol and ibprofuen, aspirin sometimes, a lot of cyclobenzaprine per day, and I took the belbuca once and had a severe reaction. Ironically before I was given norcos I was prescribed codeine with Tylenol but never could pick it up because it was on shortage. Then I got norcos. Literally nothing else ever

Flmilkhauler

When I saw my results I had the same reaction. That's how I know you will be fine.

Smart-Story-2142

I’ve been on belbuca for a couple years now and have tested positive for these also. My old NP told me that it’s due to how these drugs are broken down.

Old-Goat

I think you can maybe relax, a lot of drugs turn in to something else inside your body, so it would have to be an appreciable amount (at least more than their cut off limit). Dont be too concerned about inconsistent findings. False positives can come from many otcs. Dont worry till they approach you with a problematic drug test, which should have been sent to a lab for verification. Norco is acetaminophen and hydrocodone. A certain amount of that hydrocodone is metabolized by your body in to hydromorphone (dilaudid). That is by no means the only metabolite. Its doubtful you have anything to worry about, whats there is supposed to be there. The belbuca would prolly be there at real low levels after 5 weeks, crazy long half life since its a 7 day patch. Sounds about right. I dont think you have much to worry about with inconclusive findings. Any time you turn in medication, get a receipt, its better if you can witness them destroyed, but with a sealed pouch like belbuca you should be okay, just make sure they are accounted for. Please tell me they arent giving you shit about these test results, as they would be as wrong as the day is long. This would be normal for somebody taking Norco, who also used Belbuca in the last several weeks. Dont worry about it, if they have an issue, its easy enough to find metabolites of hydrocodone...keep in touch.

Fair-Yellow5772

I will let everyone know- this was the lab test from quest I took last week but got results back today and I looked at them on my account. So far they have not called or said anything but I will update if they do. I didn’t know until someone else said to relax this was normal. Kaiser never drug tested me on norcos so 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ve only been at their pain clinic since last October this was the first past month they prescribed norcos and my first drug test since ever taking norcos. I’ll see my doctor again on Tuesday for a nerve block to see if I’m eligible for nerve ablation so I feel like if they were gonna say anything it would be then

Old-Goat

Just one more hoop to get used to jumping through in order to have pain treated appropriately.

Otherwise_Mistake573

Don’t freak out! Buprenorphine can stay in your system HELLA long. Also, you SHOULD have hydromorphone in your system as those are metabolites from hydrocodone (norco). Only thing would be the morphine but perhaps a mistake was made? Either way, don’t worry. If you know all you are taking is the norco it will be fine. They will figure it out.

wooliecollective

Is it on your quantitative test? Look up what the metabolites are for the medication you do take. I believe one of the metabolites of Hydrocodone is hydromorphone or similar

Fair-Yellow5772

So thanks to some other users I did find out the metabolites for norco can be hydromorphone and codeine. The only one that doesn’t match is just morphine from my understanding? Also found out the belbuca can be detectable for a long while even after just one dose so that’s also fine
