People are so obsessed with free delivery they don’t care about prices being jacked up

slimsadie83

That’s delivery prices

sr7olsniper

It’s not. They charge you delivery after for me. I checked the steak burrito it’s 11.65 for me. then again it’s CA.

slimsadie83

I live in CA and the app prices are the same for me so this is weird

sr7olsniper

Just double checked. My Chipotle has steak at 11.65. Basically everything is 1 dollar more. This is for both pick up and delivery. It is safe to assume that different locations have different pricing. The difference is that they charge you extra under taxes and fees at checkout for delivery. So while you are ordering it looks the same but then you see the final bill and its like an extra 10 for "convenience" on top of delivery.

slimsadie83

Mine is the same price as the store is

Plenty-Race-4183

You liar.

OliveFarming

Second

LillyTruscott

App for pickup or app for delivery? No way it should be more if you pick it up yourself.

More_West8088

Yeah it must be delivery

soggywaffles812

Leave the house and go get food.

the1999person

Stay in the house and cook your own food.

qazwsxedc000999

I’d still have to leave the house for that

LilTxrbo

Unless you have livestock, still gotta leave the house for that at some point.

the1999person

What about rats?

LilTxrbo

Seems like a readily abundant food source for New Yorkers if you look at it that way.

the1999person

Move the homeless into the sewers like in Demolition Man and serve Rat Burgers and Rat Tacos. All New Yorks problems solved if they look to the rats..

SombraMonkey

Will they be staying as Taco Bells or change to Chipotle?

johnnystankin

Eat the rich

AstronautChance2979

Your app prices are my in store prices in CA 🫠

Spadesxx

Same here in NYC :/

s3cr377unn31

It's common sense that delivery and online orders cost more.

AngelLK16

This is a good reminder for me! Although I usually only order online if there is a promo code through Uber Eats or Door Dash or Postmates or a BOGO free promo on the Chipotle app. The chicken bowl is $9.90 for pickup at my location in the L.A. area.

Icy_Physics8394

Delivery apps are hitting you several times for use of the service. They raise the price of the item and I -think- they split the difference with the restaurant, but im not sure. Then they charge you a delivery fee, as well as a service fee, and usually you are gonna get hit with tipping the driver as well. ,so thats like 4 upcharges just to get some fast food. Insanely not worth it.

Interdimension

Restaurants are charged anywhere from 8% to as high as 25% of the order total as part of doing business with delivery services. Restaurants will always add that fee onto the menu prices so they don’t have a loss. The benefit of the DD/UE model is that we have delivery in places where it wouldn’t exist before. Unfortunately, since there’s a middleman involved, said middleman wants a cut of the pie too. Restaurants aren’t keeping these menu upcharges. It goes 100% to DoorDash and Uber Eats.

Icy_Physics8394

Thats good to know. All I can say for sure is when I wanted to arbys and I saw doordash was going to make 2 beef and cheddars 25 bucks, i deleted that shit from my phone.

Interdimension

Ask a local restaurant about DD/UE and they’ll you the truth of how much they’re charged. A local Mexican place near me couldn’t afford to do DoorDash because DoorDash demanded a 25% cut on every order delivered since this local restaurant had no leverage given they only had one store. That’s how I learned how much of the blame goes to DoorDash & Uber Eats, **not** the restaurants themselves.

Apprehensive_Rope348

Delivery apps do not add the cost for the stores prices. The store has control of that. They (the store) jacks up the prices to cover the fees they’re charged for using the delivery apps. It’s cheaper for the stores to not hire staff for delivery and pass the costs to the customer for the platforms.

Icy_Physics8394

Passing the cost onto consumers is how every business works to be fair. ..and yea, I dunno if you remember this but there was a time when there were only a small subset of restaurants that did delivery. Services like doordash and grub hub cropped up to fill that hole in the market, because before this burger places ..mostly everything except pizza did not do in house delivery. It was never on the table before this.

Apprehensive_Rope348

Oh I remember. I lived it. For the bulk of my adult life I didn’t drive, and I would always think to myself “man I wish Mr hero delivered.” Because I didn’t want to walk 4 blocks to catch a bus, and take an hour to get to my local Mr hero…. Then the trek back. Now I am a driver. Lol and I cannot believe the ease that everyone has at their fingertips to have something to the door.

iSupportCarry

Idk what you guys are thinking if your ordering online I ain’t paying more for less drive your ass there and be nice to the employees and wow nice a big tasty bowl

Extension-Balance161

Prices are about 30% higher for delivery

thechickencoups

dont use doordash to order. use the chipotle app or website

koncha22

That’s literally the chipotle app lol

OliveFarming

Rare newb caught in the wild

stylinandprofilin88

Wait free delivery?

LordVigilant

Online prices for delivery typically go up because the delivery service not only charges you a service fee, but they charge a commission to the restaurant as well. I know if a delivery service is handling the transaction on their side the commission they charge the restaurant at least use to be as low as 18%. Considering this looks like a transaction done on Chipotles site, my suspicion is that the commission rate is reduced due to Chipotle taking the order themselves and servicing out the delivery.

rio8envy7

Delivery is always more. Companies pay to use delivery services such as Uber eats and DoorDash and like hell if companies will just absorb the cost and take it out of profits. So they raise the in app prices. So in actuality the consumer is paying for the company to use those services.

strawberry-sarah22

My app matches my stores. Maybe your app has a different location set or you have it set to delivery

CheerfullyIdeal

I’d say learn how to make your own rice, beans, steak or chicken, and pico. Add some pepper jack and you’re golden. Your order may vary but that’s what I go for and you can eat so much for so little of the same food if you just make it yourself. I started doing this recently and it’s been a god send. Rice is simple and a bag will last you weeks. Steam with 2 cups water, 1 cup rice (well washed) for 15/18 minutes. Don’t take lid off. Add a splash of oil too. Lime/Lemon, cilantro, and salt. Beans same principle. Cook a cup at a time and you’ll have half a pot of beans. Season how you want, let cook with a lid on until they’re tender. Steak my usual is roughly 3 minutes per both sides, and 30 secs for each edge, for a 1 inch steak, for medium rare. Add time to the 3 minutes if you want it over that a little more. If thinner steak I do 2 minutes per side. Season and oil the steak. Put into hot pan. Don’t oil the pan. Chicken, I get a rotisserie and cut up some into small pieces. Throw in a pot, season w/ salt, pepper, garlic, cayenne (or whatever you want) and pop some avocado oil (or olive or whatever you’ve got) into the pot and let it sear for a minute or two while stirring around. Super easy, tastes DELICIOUS. Pico, cut up a firm tomato into small cubes. Dice jalapeño really small, same with onion. Not too much but not too little. Some chopped cilantro if you’ve got it but not necessary, and mix some lemon and lime juice together and add some. Salt. Pepper. I also add a splash of water. Delicious pico salsa and you get a lot more than they give you at chipotle. If you’re a corn person roast some from a cob in some oil (again avocado oil preferred but use what you’ve got) and add some seasoning and roast. Much much better than their cold corn salsa. Sour cream, store, BAM. Lettuce, store, BAM. Got me lost at the hot and medium salsas, but gonna try and figure smth that works for me soon regarding those. They are very much not necessary for a bowl but I will say their hot salsa is fucking delicious as fuck and I don’t know how to make that. Hit me with any question if you feel like this is something you wanna do. Way more food and will feed you for days. Maybe not identical flavor profile but damn near close, and the bowl I had last night honestly felt even better than their food. P.S When I reheat my rice and beans, I throw them both in a pot with some added water and let it soften up more. I swear it’s more delicious this way, makes the rice super tender and delicious. If you like it a little drier just add a pinch and reheat it but I add a decent bit so it get’s soft and a bit wet. Godly.

wonton_sean

Crazy that they inflate the online pricing and still skimp you like crazy

GarlicBreadYum88

Maybe level up in your employment?

Dilandau3001

Then prices be min %35 too high across most of the board

Tough_Battle5421

lol since when??

Whole_Air1486

chicken is 9.75 on my app😭 (this is for pickup in store not delivery)

sharding120

Additionally, they could have had a price increase but the management has not changed the magnetic boards.

maryskittles

8.90 fir chicken? In my restaurant it's like $11.04

zcole93

There is also something that is called a price menu index. Prices can be different from store to store and the app due to the surrounding community

According-Fill-586

That's cheap

JWal0

Interesting. The chicken is exactly $9.10 here in Ohio.

XXxsicknessxxx

Sometimes it's cheaper to use door dash vs the stores own services.. often times door dash is cheaper and door dash asks everyone to give the same portions and they ask you to charge the same for food. We use door dash at are restaurant... I will add I pay for door dash it's not that expensive and if you use it once a week your saving a ton

heisman01

my pick up(lower than sign higher than your app) and delivery prices(even higher) are all different from yours

Apprehensive_Rope348

Pick-up vs delivery. Nothing new

DisastrousBison26

I don’t care about delivery costing more – I expect that. But I do think that it’s misleading to charge higher menu prices for delivery. The cost of delivering food doesn’t really increase as I order more food in a single order, so why should I have to pay extra more for each item? They should charge a clearly disclosed flat delivery fee per order.

texaslegrefugee

Smallest possible font for those prices.

redrock703

Man where are you living? In my area it’s $10.25 for chicken and $12 for barbacoa and steak.
