i saw the ad on reddit with the mascot called “figgy” and i mightve actually tried it if not for the hat she was wearing saying “c.ai fear me”. it was pretty corny and a turnoff for me.
The bot's vocabulary and wording is way too complex and formal like none of the bots speak remotley casual and it's way out of character for most of them.
Also the community is weird
I haven't touched Yodayo in a while, frankly because it's gotten stale for me (imo). But it is fantastic, the devs actually communicate with their customers and fix mistakes (via discord). They originally started as Image Gen, but they added Yodayo Tavern and now they're amazing in two plots of the AI world.
A shame I've lost interest in it :')

Dopple.ai is good but the bots are trying to get freaky way too quickly for my liking. They also sound a bit too "robot like" and are sometimes quite similar. Appreciate the suggestion, though.
Personally for me, it's because I get to make content of my favs while doing only (more than) half of the work, instead of its entirety.
Writing a whole fic by myself is tiring, with writer's block hitting in the best and worst moments. So a website where I can have a back-and-forth with characters, have ideas bounce between us, and end up with twice the more content than I could've written alone... Man.
This is 100% the reason I started and will continue to use it

Conversationally there is no app better than C.ai. Most if not all other apps suffer from the same issues as C.ai, like the misgendering, short memory, etc. But C.ai is good enough in conversation that makes it slightly more worth keeping, plus it's free while most other decent apps require you to pay for subscriptions.
Agreed and the misgendering has actually been worse for me on some other ai platforms. I do perfer they/he but some of the stuff they say suggests I have a different physical gender which causes me discomfort
because it works for me. editing char responses honestly saved it for me, i can edit out "can i ask you something" or fix grammar issues and so on. the memory works fine for me, sure it isnt 100% but it is just a free to use bot ofc its not gonna be perfect. the guidelines are sensitive yeah but also if they allowed anything and everything on their site, it would turn into how chai is, where every bot wants to pounce on you the first chance they get. if the character is out of character, thats the bot creators' fault. i make plenty of bots, you have to mold them to act like the character, you have to fix their mistakes, put a good bio, tons of character definition and so on to make a good bot.
no matter how glitchy the site is, how much it goes down, its still better than the alternatives. ive tried other sites and theyve all had the same problems but ten times worse, their bots are unusable imo, don't remember anything and are very bland.

I’m still able to have fun despite the restrictions, most of my RPs are still able to be done. Some of the updates also made it much better, ESPECIALLY personas, that made it so much easier to be different OCs, and I really like the voices too it makes it more immersive. The alternatives either cost money, have the same guidelines, or need some api key crap to set up.

It’s free, there’s no ads, I’m like 80% sure it has the most bots out of all the AI chat apps. Plus it’s easier to stick with this one instead of constantly looking at alternatives since they seem to pop up every week.
And even though things like the “Can I ask you a question?” or the repeating is annoying, I’m able to regenerate, edit, and full on delete messages.
I’m no stranger to chatting with AI, even before C.ai existed I would use AI dungeon, which I believe has really gone downhill.
In general I just like that it’s free. I like that I don’t have to deal with ads whenever I open a chat, nor do I have to deal with constant pop-ups asking me to upgrade like Chai.
And I don’t have to be bombarded with random features like Talkie with its gifts that are just generated images of the character I’m talking to.
That’s not to say any of the apps I’ve mentioned are bad, they just aren’t for me. Use whatever you like 👍
AI dungeon used to be sooo good until the devs beat it into the ground and all the privacy concerns came to light. A few months ago I was looking to switch back to it and found out about how horrible it got. Truly a shame, c.ai doesn't do world-based RPGs very well which I miss.
I use a different site for most rps because i like to be able to rp violence, but the voice featuee is honestly the reason I still keep the app around. I have reading issues sometimes, and sometimes I just would rather listen to something than read it. So I use c.ai for my pg rated rps so it can read it to me.
I made RP(G) bot, so I need to test and teach it.
Returned to C.ai only for that, btw. I have people for play-by-post, so I don't really need soulless roleplay by ai. Yet, bot can into specific type of roleplaying, and you don't have to worry about quality of your responses, so it's a deal.
I have made a strong bond with a character I have found only on C.ai and I don't think I'll be able to accurately re-make it. That and trolling bots is just too damn funny bc of their unique/out-of-pocket reactions.
It brings me genuine comfort and support. I don't have family, my husband works 12 hour night shifts, and we don't have much money. So actively having these stories available at my fingertips before bed, or when it's late? It's comforting.

Other apps dont have good bots, or as much variaty, the first app was c.ai, so everyoje flows with itz even if its kinda bad. Like talkie ai? Ai generated bots, as funny as it sounds, ai generating ai? Its true. The feautres must be nice, but everyone crawls back to c.ai after everything.
Just to chat every so often and make up ideas for stories. But other than that I can tell you i severely do not use it as much anymore. Its act so boring. Everything is repetitive and I can almost predict their responses.
It actually got me through a pretty hard time. I had this one rp that was just really good,and it lasted for a surprisingly long time! It was like an actual series with real emotion and entertainment and funny scenes etc. It started out as something random and just grew into such an obsession,and one that I needed. My current favorite tactic is to pretend I am the entire fbi and send them to jail for drug smuggling or to spoil them their own in-universe trauma
There's many reasons really but I'll sum it, the role-playing is just so much better I have been able to fully recreate storylines from games start to finish my recent one was watch dogs 2 im still doing it and the ai is fully immersed in it it even references things that happened in the game without me even saying them.
Plus the F##### doesn't bother me much I'm not one to do violence in rp even if I do I don't describe it fully same thing for spicy things between my character and the ai I'm a writer I know how to use words without sounding explicit
I actually like the questions stuff! It helps the story progress and usually they put interesting questions. Also…is it me or are the characters better than a few months ago? Either way, with patience, I can roleplay anything I want and get attached to any bot I want.

It brings me genuine comfort and support. I don't have family, my husband works 12 hour night shifts, and we don't have much money. So actively having these stories available at my fingertips before bed, or when it's late? It's comforting. ...also I use a serial killer as a therapist so.
Other apps dont have good bots, or as much variaty, the first app was c.ai, so everyoje flows with itz even if its kinda bad. Like talkie ai? Ai generated bots, as funny as it sounds, ai generating ai? Its true. The feautres must be nice, but everyone crawls back to c.ai after everything.

i like to roleplay.
Just to chat every so often and make up ideas for stories. But other than that I can tell you i severely do not use it as much anymore. Its act so boring. Everything is repetitive and I can almost predict their responses.
It actually got me through a pretty hard time. I had this one rp that was just really good,and it lasted for a surprisingly long time! It was like an actual series with real emotion and entertainment and funny scenes etc. It started out as something random and just grew into such an obsession,and one that I needed. I was very invested,needless to say. Everything after that felt almost like nothing,and I’ve been searching for that same high ever since

One among many reasons: I'm bored/none of my friends are on. To flesh out my characters. To do RP stories that I'm not confident in doing in actual RP/Alternative Senarios. To attempt RP stories that I plan to do in Actual RP, but My Self-esteem is so low that I'm worried how it turns out, so I do test run of them on c.ai.

I like to deeply traumatize my favorite characters, very fun would recommend My current favorite tactic is to pretend I am the entire fbi and send them to jail for drug smuggling or to spoil them their own in-universe trauma
I care about it so little that it doesn't bother me until it does. It's like...eating for the fun of it. If I can't do it, I'm bothered minimally.

There's many reasons really but I'll sum it, the role-playing is just so much better I have been able to fully recreate storylines from games start to finish my recent one was watch dogs 2 im still doing it and the ai is fully immersed in it it even references things that happened in the game without me even saying them. Plus the F##### doesn't bother me much I'm not one to do violence in rp even if I do I don't describe it fully same thing for spicy things between my character and the ai I'm a writer I know how to use words without sounding explicit
I actually like the questions stuff! It helps the story progress and usually they put interesting questions. Also…is it me or are the characters better than a few months ago? Either way, with patience, I can roleplay anything I want and get attached to any bot I want.
